John E. McKinney, age 59 of Riverview Avenue, Westover passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born November 9, 1948 in Morgantown a son of the late Dale and Virginia McKinney.
John was a longtime technician and sound engineer for WV Radio and Mountaineer Sports Network for nearly forty years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved woodworking.
John is survived by his wife Pam Barnhouse McKinney, one son John A. Mckinney and companion Tracie of Morgantown, one step son Michael Tennant of Westover, one step daughter, Kim Yoney and husband Robby of Morgantown, two sisters, Shelia and Mike DuPlantis of Winchester, VA and Edith and Fred Vasco of Laurel, MD and one brother-in-law, Tom Barnhouse of Morgantown.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. and at the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist church, 540 Fairmont Road, Westover on Thursday, May 8, 2008 from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM Funeral service with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in John’s memory to SteppingStones, 400 Mylan Park Lane, Morgantown, WV 26501.

Wilma D. Newbraugh, age 84 of Lawless Road, Morgantown passed away Saturday, May 03, 2008 at Fairmont General Hospital. She was born April 29, 1924 in Preston County, a daughter of the late Dorsey and Jessie Collins Trout.
Wilma worked and retired from the lunch counter at G. C. Murphy’s in Morgantown, was a Methodist by faith and loved growing her roses.
She is survived by two sons, David and Lynda Trout of Texas and Robert Kinsley of Weirton, WV, one brother and spouse, Willard and Rita Trout of Florida, one sister-in-law, Edith Trout, seven grandchildren, Kim Dawson, Bridget Shaw, Christy Collins, Linda Kay Otero, Dave Trout, Michael Trout and Travis Trout, twenty four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Her husband, Donald Hugh Newbraugh, one sister, Zena Gray, and one brother, Richard Trout, preceded Wilma in death.
Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Monday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the McCulla Funeral Home with Rev. Junior Koon officiating. Burial will follow at Arnettsville Cemetery.

Ruth Ellen Rakosi, age 77 of Bethel Church Road, Morgantown passed away Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born June 30, 1930 in Meadowbrook, WV a daughter of the late Delbert and Elva Collins Moore.
Ruth was a loving homemaker and a Methodist by faith. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 60 years, Webster G. Rakosi; four daughters, Janie Gatian of Granville, Janice Copper and husband Jack of Tallahassee, FL, Janet Loveridge of Maidsville and Joyce Eddy and husband Rick of Okeechobee, FL; one son Greg Rakosi and Sandy Snyder of Maidsville; grandchildren, Jodi, Buffie, and Blaine Gatian and wife Barbara, Cori and John Copper, Amy Riggleman, Kelly Loveridge, Stephanie and Michael Rakosi; and seven great grandchildren.
Four sisters and one brother preceded Ruth in death.
Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Monday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the McCulla Funeral Home with Reverends Larry Peters and Paula Policano officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.

Horacio Aceves, Jr., 62, of Granville, WV passed away on April 6, 2010 at his home. Horacio was born in El Paso, Texas on October 20, 1947, a son of the late Horacio Aceves and Francisca Ruiz Aceves.
Horacio was employed at the Health Sciences Center at West Virginia University as a maintenance painter. He was a Christian by faith and had a passion for music, fine arts, and loved people.
Horacio is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janet S. Newland Aceves; two daughters, Sienna Mikishko, of Arizona and Ashley Aceves, at home; one son Justin Aceves, at home; two sisters Suieke Boler and Martha “Marty” Cook; two brothers Daniel Aceves and Mike Aceves; and three grandchildren John Mikishko, Sarena Mikishko, and Sylisa Mikishko.
Family and Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home from 3-5 pm Sunday. Funeral Services will be held at McCulla Funeral Home on Monday at 10 am with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown with military honors conferred by WVANG, Camp Dawson and the Taylor County Color Guard Unit.

April M. Adams, 22, of Westover passed away on June 17, 2010 at home. April was born on December 21, 1987 in Buckhannon, West Virginia.
April attended Morgantown High School and enjoyed needlepoint, word puzzles, and video games.
April is survived by her mother Sally Caroline Lansberry Henline, her step-father Jesse Henline, of Westover, one sister Corina L. Adams, of Ashland, Ohio, and her grandmother Mary Rager, of Buckhannon.
April was preceded in death by her father Robert L. Adams.
Family and friends may call from 11-1 on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at McCulla Funeral Home at 1 pm with Pastor Neil Parsons officiating. Cremation services will be provided by McCulla Funeral Home following the services. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to McCulla Funeral Home.

Sharen Agresti, age 76 of Riverview Avenue, Westover passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at her home. She was born June 9, 1934 in Morgantown a daughter of the late John and Virginia Mackey Choma.
Sharen was a homemaker, who in her earlier years worked at Thorafare Supermarket and Davis-Lynch Glass. Her hobbies were swimming, crocheting, and making ceramics but her greatest enjoyment came from being with her grandchildren and supporting them in all their activities. Sharen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who cherished her time with her family. She was loved and will be missed by them all.
Sharen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Anthony Agresti, one daughter and spouse, Christy and John Orinick of Morgantown and two grandchildren, Mark Orinick and Christopher Orinick both of Morgantown.
Sharen was preceded in death by one brother, John Choma and her two best friends Jean Wilson and Mary Jo Gatian.
Family and friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-9 pm and on Friday from 10 am until the 11am funeral service with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery. Virgil Clayton Allamong Jr., age 73 of Fairmont Road, Westover died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at his home. He was born December 10, 1935 in Ridgeville, WV a son of the late Virgil Clayton and Suzanne Dawson Allamong.
Clayton was a graduate of MHS and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He was a longtime funeral director in Morgantown and had retired from the MECCA 911 Center. Clayton was the Charter President and member of the Wesmon-Jaycees, and was a member of Joseph W. Summers Lodge No. 173 AF & AM. Clayton had many interests and hobbies. He helped organize the first archery range at Westover Park, was a prolific writer of poetry, and could always be found riding his Harley.
Clayton is survived by his wife Shirley Allamong, one daughter and spouse, Kecia and John Eckerd of Plano, TX, one step-daughter, Joellyn Kemp of Morgantown, one step-son, Joe Bowers of Morgantown, one brother, Joseph Allamong of Morgantown, three grandchildren, Amanda Allamong-Selby of Martinsburg, John K. Eckerd III and Kendall Eckerd of Texas and one great granddaughter, Taylor Nicole.
Clayton was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Allamong, one son Virgil Clayton “Butch” Allamong, one sister, Evangeline Boyd, and one brother, Irwin Elmo Allamong.
McCulla Funeral Home provided cremation services and friends may call on Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 6:00 PM until the 7:00 PM memorial service with Rev. David White officiating. Interment will be at East Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date

Arthur C. Allen Sr., age 92 of Morgantown passed away Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Golden Living Center. He was born June 23, 1917 in Vienna, WV a son of the late Grover and Sarah Vannoy Allen.
Arthur had been employed as the superintendent of dairy sales for the WVU Department of Agriculture Sciences and attended Crescent Hills Chapel. He enjoyed going to yard sales and sharing his love of Morgantown History with anyone he met.
Arthur is survived by his wife of fifty years, Stella Bittinger Allen, two sons, Arthur C. Allen and Kenneth R. Allen both of Morgantown, one sister, Juanita Blagg of Albuquerque, NM, one brother, Denver Allen of Mt. Morris, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arthur was preceded in death by one daughter, Josephine Marhefka and five brothers, Newman, Kenneth, Brooks, Ray, and Forest.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home from 6-8 PM Tuesday and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held at the McCulla Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Bud Hoey and Dr. Denis MacDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Burnt Meeting House Cemetery.

Josephine Catherine Allen-Marhefka, age 73 of West 2nd Street, Westover passed away Friday, March 14, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born March 9, 1935 in Harmony Grove a daughter of the late Catherine Rhodehaver Allen and Arthur C. Allen and wife Stella of Morgantown.
Josephine was a Catholic by faith and had attended Faith Baptist Church. She had been employed at Mylan, WVU Hospital and most recently at Massullo’s Cleaners.
In addition to her father, Josephine is survived by two sons, Martin Michael Marhefka and fiancée Glenda Dawkins of Morgantown and John William Marhefka Jr. of Bunners Ridge, one grandchild, Barry Marhefka of Cheat Lake and one great grandson.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Marhefka in 1981.
McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremations services with a memorial service to be held at a later date. The family would like to extend special thanks to Robin Reel, for her care, love, and being a special friend to Josephine. The family requests that donations be made to Morgantown Hospice, P. O. Eugene Earl Alt, 46, of Holland Avenue, Westover, died suddenly in his sleep on August 15, 2010.
He was born August 20,1963, in Morgantown, the youngest child of the late George Henry Alt and Ruby Madeline Bonnett. He was a carpenter by trade.
Eugene is survived by a son, Christopher M. Alt of Westover; a daughter, Christy Ann Alt of Morgantown; three brothers, George H. Alt and wife Kay of Carlsbad, NM, Bobby L. Alt and wife Dorothy “Dee” of Cassville, Ronald L. Alt and wife MaryAnn of Morgantown; a sister Shirley Ann Spencer of Masontown; a fiancée, Robin Hughes of Westover; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Family and friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home, Westover, from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. Wednesday, where funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday, August 19, with Pastor Nate Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.

Donald L. Aronhalt, age 78 of Eastern Avenue, Morgantown passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born May 30, 1929 in Bayard, WV a son of the late Carl Augusta and Nina Kate Idleman Aronhalt.
Donald was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 41st Infantry Division of the Alabama-Mississippi National Guard. Following the service, he was a parts assistant at Shaffer’s Ford in Oakland and then moved to Morgantown where he worked at Bell’s Wholesale for twenty-five years. He was a member of the Sabraton Baptist Church.
Donald is survived by one brother, Robert “R.J” Arnohalt of Brookhaven, nieces and spouses, Karla and Rick Loftis of Orange Park, FL, Brenna and James Dean of Alexandria, VA and Susan and Richard Graziani of Morgantown, one nephew, Donald K. Aronhalt of Morgantown, great nieces and nephews, Justin Loftis and companion Marielena, and Matthew Loftis and Sara and Alex Graziani and one great great niece, Hannah Loftis.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown on Thursday from 1-3 & 6-8 PM. and on Friday from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Rev. Will Coulson officiating. Burial will follow at Bayard Cemetery in Bayard, WV.

Freda Louise Bailey, 91, of West Park Ave., Westover, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at her home. She was born July 4, 1919 a daughter of Monongalia County Attorney Frank M. Brand and Myrtle Core Brand
Freda was a Methodist by faith. She was employed at a bookkeeper for Equitable Life Insurance Co., United Maintenance, and retired from Swanson Plating. She was an avid Mountaineer Fan and followed WVU sports religiously.
Freda is survived by one sister, Mary Bittaker of New Lenox, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by her husband former Westover Police Chief William A. “Bill” Bailey, Jr. in 1994.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, November 2 at McCulla Funeral Home from 11 am – 1 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 pm with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made in Freda’s memory to Monongalia County Human Society at P.O. Box 390, Morgantown, WV 26507.

Helen Ballas, age 86 of Granville, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Morgantown following a lengthy illness.
Helen was born August 25, 1922 in Herbert, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Mike Ballas and Barbara (Bertha) Menhart Ballas.
She was a graduate of University High School, class of 1941 and had been employed with WVU as a custodian, having worked at the Engineering Building, Creative Arts Center, and the Coliseum before retiring in 1984.
At home Helen enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and canning. Her greatest talent was baking pies, cakes, and cookies, all of which were always from scratch.
A Protestant by faith, Helen was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Evansdale, Morgantown, WV.
Two sisters survive Helen, Margaret Ballas of Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; and Ethel Rabagia and husband, George of Granville, and one sister-in-law, Alice Ballas of Westover. Helen is also survived by two nieces and two nephews, Barbara (Rabagia) Conn of Morgantown, Alice Elaine (Ballas) Dougherty of Westover, George (Mick) Rabagia of Morgantown, John Rabagia of Granville, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by four brothers, Mike Ballas, Andy Ballas, John Ballas, and infant brother, Andy Ballas and an infant sister, Helen Ballas; also one niece, Dolores (Ballas) Jones on April 14, 2008.
At the request of the family, private services were held at the McCulla Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Rudolph P. Almasy officiating. Burial followed at East Oak Grove Cemetery.

Margaret Ballas, age 92 of Granville, and of Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Monongalia General Hospital following a brief illness.
Margaret was born on August 27, 1916 in Herbert, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Mike Ballas and Barbara (Bertha) Menhart Ballas.
Margaret was an employee of the Sterling Faucet Company in Morgantown, retiring in 1979.
At home, Margaret always believed in hard work and keeping busy, a trait instilled in her by her immigrant parents. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and canning along with maintaining her home with her sister, Helen.
Margaret was especially known for preparing the many ethnic Hungarian dishes and pastries, a talent taught to her by her mother.
A Protestant by faith, Margaret was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Evansdale, Morgantown, WV.
Margaret is survived by her remaining sister, Ethel Rabagia and husband George of Granville, one sister-in-law, Alice Ballas of Westover, two nieces; Barbara (Rabagia) Conn of Morgantown and Alice Elaine (Ballas) Dougherty of Westover, two nephews; George (Mick) Rabagia of Morgantown and John Rabagia of Granville, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters; Mike Ballas in 1978, Andy Ballas (infant) in 1910, Andy Ballas in 1966, John Ballas in 1924, Helen Ballas (infant) in 1911, and Helen Ballas (with whom she made her home) on December 8, 2008, and one niece, Dolores (Ballas) Jones, on April 14, 2008.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home from 6-8 PM Thursday and on Friday from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service with Dr. Rudolph Almasy officiating. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
