Hazel Virginia Fox, 83, of Grafton, formerly of East Park Mobile Park, Fairmont, went home to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning (Oct. 2, 2006) in the Rosewood Center, Grafton.
She was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Fairmont, daughter of the late Selva Marshall and Lavada Hall Tucker.
Ms. Fox was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Fairmont. She was active earlier with the United Methodist Women and various church groups.
She was retired from Owens-Illinois of Fairmont with 33 years of service. She worked in the bonus and payroll department.
She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Ronald Norman of Grafton, formerly of Fairmont; a brother, Walter E. Tucker of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Tawndra Ann and her husband Sean Love of Fairmont, Timothy Shawn Beckner of Fairmont, Thomas Stacy and his wife Stacy Beckner of North Carolina, and Randall A. Norman of Clarksburg; and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Megan, and Zachary Beckner, all of North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Fox was preceded in dearh by a daughter, Shirley Virginia Beckner; a grandchild, Rhonda Kay Norman; two brothers, Raymond E. and Wayne L. Tucker; and a sister, Mildred B. Tucker.
Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Fairmont.
Dorsey Thomas
Dorsey L. Thomas passed away Sept. 20, 2006, in Reno, Nev.
Most people knew him as “Tommy.”
Dorsey is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thomas of Fairmont, both deceased.
Dorsey was born in Shinnston and attended East Fairmont High School.
He joined the U.S. Navy Air Force in 1942 and was honorably discharged in December 1945.
Tommy came to Reno, Nev., in June 1946. He worked in the grocery industry for 38 years and retired from Rayley’s.
Tommy’s loves were golfing and bowling.
Wife, Eva Gallano Thomas, predeceased him in 1996.
Surviving are his sister, Betty Coulter; daughter Carol Lee Bee; grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Gallano.
There will be no services at his request.
Daniel Yaremchuk
Daniel Micheal Yaremchuk, 61, of Fairmont, died Monday (Oct. 2, 2006) at his daughter’s home in Pasedena, Md.
He was born May 26, 1945, a son Barbara Chiater Yaremchuk of Fairmont and the late William Allen Yaremchuk.
Survivors include his former spouse of 37 years, Marcella Yaremchuk of Fairmont; two daughters, Michelle Lee and her husband Gregory of Pasadena, Md., and Monica Delbrook and her husband Mark of Fairmont; one brother, Dr. William Yaremchuk of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Amy Wills of Fairmont, Danielle Wills of Pasadena, Md., Andrew Wills of Pasadena, Md., Ashleigh Lemasters of Fairmont, Treblin Delbrook of Fairmont, Lauren Delbrook of Fairmont, Marissa Delbrook of Fairmont; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins and a large extended family
Dan was a Persian Gulf Veteran, Desert Storm 18th Airborne and received the Bronze Star in the Persian Gulf. He was past president of the Military Veterans Council of Marion County, 2nd Vice President of VFW No. 629, past member of the American Legion, held several offices in Post 17, past Chef De Gar 40/8, past Grand Chef De Gar 40/8 of the State of West Virginia, he was active in the Army National Guard as a First Seargent and held the rank of E8, retired HHB 201 st/FA Fairmont, Retention and Recruiting NCO, formerly active in the West Virginia Army National Guard Band, old Color Guard of the West Virginia Army National Guard, Range NCO on firing ranges, NBC NCO, Training NCO, and was an instructor at Camp Dawson. He recently received the St. Barbara’s Award and has received other military awards too numerous to mention.
He was Catholic by faith. He was a 1963 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. Dan was formerly employeed at Sharon Steel until it closed in 1979 and was a U.S. lettercarrier in Fairmont. He was active in the Fairmont Jaycees, he enjoyed bowling, model trains and time with grandkids. He was active in Caring and Sharing and Relay for Life. He was named the Marion County Relay for Life Cancer Survivor of the Year in 2005 and was a member of the Fairmont Eagles No. 2373.

Earlen “Pete” Drain
Earlen B. “Pete” Drain, 71, of Enterprise died at 8:54 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 4, 2006) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born at Nov. 5, 1934, at Pine Bluff, a son of the late Clarence Bates and Geraldine Owens Drain.
Pete tended cattle for Edwin and Camden Bunner’s Rolling Hills Dairy Farm in Fairmont. He formerly worked for Paul Harold’s Limestone Quarry, the City of Shinnston and was a landscaper for the Bridgeport Greenhouse. He enjoyed trout fishing, hunting and traveling. He attended the Blueville Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Newbrough Drain, whom he married Sept. 23, 1955; two sons, Earlen W. “Bub” Drain and his wife Kimberly of Pine Bluff, and Steve Drain and his wife Cindy of Grafton; four daughters, Dottie Marie Postlethwait, Helon “Sis” Postlethwait and her husband John, all of Stringtown, Becky Hamilton and her husband Sam of Shinnston, and Christine “Chris” Arnett and her husband Scott of Enterprise; a former son-in-law, Gary Postlethwait of Stringtown; his grandchildren, Angel Fluharty and husband Donald and their children, Cody, Dawson, Cheyenne and Dalton; Jacob Postlethwait and his wife Amy and their children, Sierra and Hanna; William Postlethwait; Shelly Martin and her husband John; Wendy Buckhannon; Kimberly Postlethwait and her daughter Ally; Tanya Postlethwait; John Alan Postlethwait; Sabrina Postlethwait, Josh Arnett, Jessica Arnett, Jamie Arnett, Tiffany Newbrough, Justin Newbrough, Kevin Poling, Madison Stickle, Chandler Maxson and Blaine Stickle; three brothers, Fred Drain of Parkersburg, John Drain and his wife Jake of Stonewood, and Roger “Butch” Drain and his wife Mary of Bingamon; and one sister, Joyce Higgins and her husband Raymond of Bingamon.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, who raised him, Bill and Tobe Drain; one brother; and two sisters.

Bobby Joe Toothman
Bobby Joe Toothman, 67, of Mannington, died Tuesday (Oct. 3, 2006) at his residence.
He was born March 2, 1939, in Marion County, a son of the late Arthur Gay and Daisy Criss Toothman.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Ann Snodgrass Toothman; six children, Allan Dale Toothman of Surry, Va., Gregory Gene Toothman of Tennessee, Judith Darlene Toothman Myers of Farmington, Russell Ronald Toothman of Mannington, John Christopher Toothman of Williamsburg, Va., and Mark Steven Boatwright; six grandchildren, Savannaha Renee Toothman of Surry, Va., Kristal Ann Efaw of Rachel, Cynthia Renee Yost of Farmington, Robert Allan Toothman, Shawn Hunter Toothman, and Benjamin James Toothman, all of Surry, Va.; one great-grandchild, Chelby Ryan Yost; one brother, Danny Lee Toothman of Parrish Run; two sisters, Dorothy Maybelle Wright of Farmington, and Arlena “Tyke” Collins of Mannington.
Bobby Joe was a member of the Bricklayers Union Local No. 15 in Fairmont. He had worked construction for many years at several different locations.
He was a hard worker who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Toothman was preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Hennis; and three brothers, Rex, Max, and Jimmy Toothman.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Farmington.

Tamara Lambert
Tamara Louise Lambert, 38, of Monongah, departed this Earth suddenly on Tuesday (Sept. 19, 2006) at Life Care Rehabilitation in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Mrs. Lambert was born March 25, 1968, in Fairmont, the daughter of Nancy Gonzales of Barrackville.
Tamara loved cooking, baking, gardening, and spending time with and taking care of people dear to her heart.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband who loved her dearly, Brooks Lambert of Monongah; her stepdaughter, Brooklyn Lambert of Monongah; stepson, Timothy Lambert of Grafton; stepson, Brandon Thompson of Colfax; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Michelle Mullenax of Barrackville; her mother-in-law, Mary Lambert of Monongah; brother-in-law, Samuel R. and Sue Lambert of Shinnston; sisters-in-law, Peggy Hollabaugh of Monongah, Patricia and Larry Anderson of Four States, Joy and Jack Curtis of Four States, Jean and Joey DeBarr of Monongah; several nieces and nephews, Dominick Mullenax of Barrackville, Stephen Hollabaugh of Monongah, Joseph DeBarr of Monongah, Zachary Curtis of Four States, Mary Jo Curtis of Four States, Samuel and Courtney Lambert of Monongah, Devanna and Tony Corley of Fairmont, Richard A. Tamara was preceded in death by her grandparents, Luke and Flora Mullenax; father-in-law, Samuel A. Lambert; stepson, Andrew Lambert; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Lambert.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Monongah with Pastor Bill Preston officiating.

Lula Mae Hines
Lula Mae Hines, 79, of Carolina went home to live with the Lord on Saturday (Oct. 7, 2006) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born July 24, 1927, in Birmingham, Ala., the daughter of the late Joseph W. Motley Sr. and the late Lillian Knight Pitts, and Marguerite Motley of Cleveland, Ohio.
She was employed by the Fairmont Clinic, where she retired in 1980. As a member of the Church of God Militant Pillar and Ground of the Truth in Fairmont, she served as an usher, devotional leader and a member of the finance committee.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 63 years, Howard Hines Sr., whom she married June 8, 1943; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Howard (Delores) Hines Jr., and Michael (Cheryl) Hines of Detroit, Mich., and Randy (Misty) Hines of Fairmont; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Lillian Howard of Detroit, Mich.; Jo-Ann (Joe) Brown, and Pastor Lois (Bishop John) Washington, all of Fairmont; Sharon (Mark) Stringer of Lehi, Utah; and Jacqueline Aaron of Carolina; one granddaughter, whom she raised, Memori (Deon) Dobbs of Fairmont; engrafted son, William (Alice) Washington of Greensboro, N.C.; engrafted daughter, Lilla Nell (Emmanuel) Hughley of Cleveland, Ohio; her siblings, Clara Coleman and Terry Jo Pitts of Detroit, Mich.; Christine (Ben) Jackson of Bessemer, Ala.; and Mildred King, Milton (Marilyn) Motley, John Lew (Delores) Motley and Cornelius Motley, all of Cleveland, Ohio; her in-laws, Louise Rembert, and Paul (Nellie) Hines of Carolina; Wilma Reeves and Frank (Mary) Hines of Fairmont; Juanita Arnold of Lawrenceville, Ga.; Rachael Motley of Paducah, Ky.; Leroy (LaBernice) Hines of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Chester (Janet) Hines of Detroit, Mich.; her goddaughter, Tametta James of Fairmont; 35 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe William Motley Jr.; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen Yvonne and Mark Dooley; her daughter and son-in-law, Minnie Beatrice and Ford Eugene English; her grandson, Kalind Washington; and her great-grandson, Jeremy Paul Thomas Jr.

Shirley D’Amico Moore
Shirley D’Amico Moore, 69, of Fairmont died Sunday (Oct. 8, 2006) at her residence.
She was born May 21, 1937, daughter of the late Albert and Minnie D’Amico.
Shirley was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. She was a former employee of the Marion County Board of Education from 1970-1998.
She enjoyed camping and crafts.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Denny Moore; a daughter, Crystal Knapton and husband David of Fairmont; a son, Gary Bray and wife Brenda of Fairmont; two stepsons, Dean and Chad Moore of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Jessica and Joby Knapton of Fairmont, Zack Bray of Fairmont, and Amanda Kincell and husband Rich of Fairview; one stepgranddaughter; one great-granddaughter; twin brother, Michael D’Amico and wife Carol of Fairmont; a sister, Sandra Sweede and husband Tom of Westland, Mich.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Phil Gettings of Fairmont; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

David Lasure
Charles David Lasure, 56, of Mannington died Monday (Oct. 9, 2006).
He was born Dec. 29, 1949, at Clarksburg, a son of the late Charles and Mary Brewer Lasure.
He is survived by two children and their spouses, Nick and Megan Lasure of Beckley, and Brooke and Cecil Daft of Mannington; three grandchildren, Brock and Molly Lasure, and Luke Daft; two sisters, Helen Jean Hohman of New Martinsville, and Dottie Yoho and husband Sam of Pine Grove; and his former wife, Carol Lasure of Fairmont.
David had been employed by Applied Industrial Technologies for more than 30 years.
He was an avid WVU football fan. He visited Slamicks Gym daily.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
David chose cremation as his method of final disposition. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. D.D. Meighen officiating.
Marie Johnson
Marie McDonald Johnson, 86, of Fairmont passed away Monday (Oct. 9, 2006) at the Wishing Well Health Center.
She was born July 14, 1920, in Marion County, a daughter of the late William and Lucy Stackhouse Saurborn.
Mrs. Johnson was a Methodist by faith. She was a homemaker in her own home and had previously worked as a waitress in the Fairmont area.
She had enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels with her daughter for more than seven years.
Marie liked collecting cookbooks, although she rarely followed a recipe. She did mouthwatering things with a pinch of this and a dash of that.
She and her sister Ruth enjoyed hitting the stores in Ruth’s little red roadster. She liked a good yard sale, a good Harlequin romance and finding word puzzles.
She was partial to hard candies, but always shared them with her grandkids and great-grandkids. For years, she made cinnamon rolls from scratch for anyone in her family who got up to go to Easter sunrise services.
She was the center of her family and will be forever missed every time they gather together.
She is survived by daughters, Linda and her husband Carl Hall of Fairmont, Carol Sue and her husband Don Atha of Fairmont, Nancy Byard of Fairmont, and Marge and her husband Mike Spatafore of Avon, Ohio; grandchildren, John and his wife Gwen Hall of Wichita, Kan.; Vicki Stout of Fairmont, Susan and her husband Mike Hawkins of Fairmont, Stephen and his wife Terry Atha of Shinnston, Michael and his wife Cherie Atha of Mooresville, N.C.; Tami and her husband John Coxen of Port Allegheny, Pa.; Jeffrey and his wife Kim Byard of Petersburg, Cindy and her husband David Byrd of Fairmont, Debbie Riepe of Tennessee, Michael and his wife Michelle of Spatafore, Ohio; Kelle and her husband Chris Bruner of Marysville, Ohio; and Holle Brambrick of Avon Lake, Ohio; special nephew, Terry Saurborn; sisters, Ruth Johnson of Fairmont, and Eleanor and her husband Joe Rinehart of Fairmont; 26 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Edward McDonald; second husband, Urban Johnson; daughter, Patty Allen; grandson, Jerry Pat Hall; son-in law, Jerry Byard; sister, Helen Byerly; and brothers, Gene Saurborn and Jack Saurborn.
