SHINNSTON -- Charles G. Cecil Jr., 77, of Morgantown, formerly of Wallace, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born Dec. 26, 1921, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Charles G. Cecil Sr. and Ethel Hall Smith. His wife, Helen E. Henderson Cecil, whom he married Sept. 14, 1942, survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, James D. and Linda D. Cecil, Milwaukee, Wis.; two daughters, Patricia Ann Cecil, at home, and Barbara S. Ash, Morgantown; five grandchildren, Rebecca Myers, Michael J. Ash, Jonia Wienke, Krista Cecil and Wendy Imes; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ed Cecil, Amherst, Ohio, Paul Cecil, Lorain, Ohio, and Robert "Joe¨ Cecil, Shinnston; three sisters, Wanda Conner, Shinnston, Ruth Dennis, Uniontown, Pa., and Mary Smith, Gypsy; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one great-grandson, Justin Myers and one brother.
Mr. Cecil was a coal miner, having retired from King Knob Coal Co. with 31 years of service. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the First Baptist Church of Wallace.
Friends may call at Dorsey Funeral Home, Shinnston, after 2 p.m. today. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Loar officiating. Interment will be in the Shinnston Masonic cemetery.

Kristen Joy and Miranda L. Cottrill
GLENVILLE -- Kristen Joy and Miranda Lynn Cottrill, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston. Born April 20, 1999, in Lewis County, the daughters of Russell Cottrill and Jennifer Dawn Rollyson, Glenville.
Also surviving are their maternal grandparents, Bill and Vickie Rollyson, Linn; paternal grandparents, William and Barbara Cottrill, Glenville; maternal great-grandparents, Eugene and Arnetta Rollyson, Arizona, and Ellen Stump, Linn; paternal great-grandparents, Harrison McCumbers, Orma; maternal great-great-grandparents, Arnetta Campbell and Genevieve Jones, Glenville; and paternal great-great-grandparents, Bill McCumbers, Glenville, and Della Burton, Mt. Zion.
They were preceded in death by great-grandparents, Russell and Violet Cottrill, Ocie Cumming McCumbers and Robert Stump.
Donal D. Grogg
GLENVILLE -- Donal D. Grogg, 74, of Glenville, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, Grantsville. He was born in Gilmer County, a son of Amy Stalnaker Grogg, Vienna, and the late Leamon Grogg.
His wife, Reva Grogg, preceded him in death in 1997.
Also surviving are two sons, Toby Grogg, Glenville, and Lonnie D. Grogg, Crestview, Fla.; one daughter, Karen Faye Chamblin, Belmont; seven brothers, Jackie and Kenny Grogg, both of Glenville, Billy and Danny Grogg, both of Nobe, Rondel Grogg, Oberlin, Ohio, Leon Grogg, Parkersburg, and Anthony Grogg, Elizabeth; seven sisters, Freda Amos, Vienna, Katheryn Phillips, Delores Davis and Connie Cogar, all of Parkersburg, Peggy Wade, Tanner, Dottie Frazier, Linn, and Lena Ferguson, Salem, Ohio; five grandchildren, one great-grandson, two stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Kevin, Marshall, Steve and Freddie Grogg.
Mr. Grogg was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Equitable Resources, Inc., where he served as chief engineer for the Glenville Compression Station.
He was a member of the Kanawha Drive Church, Glenville Lions Club and the Knights of Pythias Lodge of Tanner.
Louise G. Gum
WESTON -- Louise Grace Phipps Gum, 66, of Camden, died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of the late S.L. and Elizabeth Phipps. On Jan. 18, 1957, she married the Rev. William J.B. Gum, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Betty Gum, Camden, Mrs. Kirby (Joyce) Miller, Camden, and Mrs. Alan (Dreama) Hefner, Weston; one grandson, Luke Heckert; two stepgrandchildren, Brian and Nastausha Hefner; three sisters, Marian Harris, Atlanta, Ga., Ruth Hissam, Rock Cave, and Elsie Carpenter, French Creek; two brothers, S.L. Phipps Jr. and James Phipps, both of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Phipps.
Mrs. Gum was a homemaker and a member of the Haleville Union Mission Church.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the Floyd Funeral Home, 402 Main Ave., Weston. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Haleville Union Mission Church, with the Rev. Sherman Goodwin officiating. His body will lie in state at the church from noon until the funeral hour on Saturday. Interment will follow in the Snyder cemetery in Churchville.
Lorraine M. Randolph
JANE LEW -- Lorraine M. VanHorn Randolph, 71, of Route 1, Jane Lew, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. She was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Jane Lew, a daughter of the late Claude VanHorn and Etta Boylen VanHorn. Her husband, Carroll B. Randolph, whom she married Jan. 5, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Everet and Helen Randolph, Jane Lew; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Keith Jozwick, Lost Creek; two sisters, Eloise Holbert, Good Hope, and Lucille Holbert, Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Tonya Randolph and Travis Randolph, both of Jane Lew, Shelly Jarrett and Donetta Reed, both of Clarksburg; several nieces and nephews and three great-grandsons. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Donzil VanHorn.
Mrs. Randolph was a 1945 graduate of Jane Lew High School. She was a member of the former Jane Lew Kitchen Band and the Jane Lew First United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Morris Funeral Home in Jane Lew. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Busch II officiating. Burial will follow in Broad Run cemetery.
Frances M. Aloi
FARMINGTON -- Frances Manchin Aloi, 75, of Farmington, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Farmington, a daughter of the late Joseph Manchin Sr. and Kathleen Roscoe Manchin.
Surviving is her husband, Sam Aloi Sr.
Also surviving are their children, Kay Frances and Bob Schmidt Jr., Fairmont, Sam Aloi Jr. and Georgia Aloi, Fairmont, Donna and Meline Serdich Jr., Farmington, Donnie and Diane Aloi, Farmington, Michael and Susan Aloi, Buckhannon; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; twin sister, Rose Manchin Levitsky, Farmington; two brothers, John Manchin Sr., Mary Manchin and A. James and Stella Manchin, all of Farmington; one sister-in-law, Ann Manchin, Bridgeport; 15 nieces and nephews; one aunt, Mary Roscoe, Monongah; and one uncle, Tony Jacobin, Idamay. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Manchin Jr.
Mrs. Aloi was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Farmington. She was a member of the Farmington Woman's Society of St. Peter's Church.
She was a graduate of Farmington High School and a homemaker.
Mary E. Austin
WESTON -- Mary Ella Austin, 86, a resident of Sunrise of Salem, formerly of Walkersville and Criss Manor, Weston, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, April 23, 1999, at Sunrise following an extended illness. She was born at Big Run, Jan. 20, 1913, a daughter of the late James A. "O.B." Wilson and Dora Weaver Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Austin, on Sept. 30, 1977.
Surviving are one daughter, Ethel Shields, Walkersville; six grandchildren, Roy Skinner, Weston, Mrs. James (Bonnie) Katrincsak, Elyria, Ohio, Mrs. Roger (Ethel) Curtis, Weston, Mrs. Dana (Patty) Craig, Carolyn and Karen Shields, all of Walkersville; nine great-grandchildren, Leckta Poling, Amy Skinner, Delbert R. Skinner II, Jason Skinner, Julie Curtis, David Craig, Dodi Skinner, Brian Craig and Sean Katrincsak; and three great-great-grandchildren, Zachary Skinner, Haley and Austin Skinner.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Eldora Messenger, two grandsons, Herbie Jahue Skinner and Delbert R. Skinner; one great-grandson, Herbie J. Skinner and three sisters, Thelma Carter, Lena Ison and Lucille Cayton.
Mrs. Austin was a cook having worked at various restaurants. She was Methodist.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Boyle Funeral Home, 322 Main Ave., Weston. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. William Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Long Point cemetery at Walkersville.
Lillian A. Clevenger
GLENVILLE -- Lillian A. McCullough Clevenger, 45, of Glenville, died at 2:35 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Sunrise of Glenville Health Care, Glenville. She was born Aug. 13, 1999, in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Leland and Mary Alice Morris McCullough.
Surviving are one son, John Clevenger, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Abilene, Texas; four brothers, Arthur McCullough, Elyria, Ohio, Russell S. McCullough, Sand Fork, John and Woodrow J. McCullough, both of Glenville; six sisters, Gladys Ellison, Alice Hamric and Mary Lou Dennison, all of Glenville, Leona VanHoose, Cedarville, and Nancy McCullough, Norristown, Pa.; one grandchild.
Mrs. Austin was Protestant.
Peter A. Foppiano
Peter "Pete" Anthony Foppiano, 90, of 308 Vermont Ave., Clarksburg, died Friday, April 23, 1999, in United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, following an extended illness.
He was born in New York City, N.Y., Jan. 6, 1909, a son of the late Joseph Foppiano and Adelaide Scagnelli Foppiano.
His wife, Thelma Lucille Foppiano, preceded him in death on May 23, 1996.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Mary Frances Foppiano, Clarksburg; and three grandchildren, Judie Foppiano, Jill Foppiano Williams and Jaclyn Foppiano. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marion Aliveto and Angeline Chenoweth and one brother, Joseph Foppiano.
Mr. Foppiano was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Clarksburg. He owned and operated the former A&F Produce Co.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Cesidio J. Federico as celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Cross cemetery. A Biblical Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Arthur E. Hansen
PHILIPPI -- Arthur E. Hansen, 90, a resident of 212 Chestnut St., Philippi, formerly of Detroit, Mich., died at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1908, in Sandusky, Ohio, a son of the late Christian and Wilhelminio Krumholtz Hansen.
He was twice married, first to the former Beatrice Pfeiffer, who preceded him in death, and later to the former Bonnie R. Daugherty Lynch, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, David Hansen, Philippi; one stepson, Arthur Lee Lynch, Dumas, Texas; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lois Cranes, one sister, Helen Jordan and two brothers, Albert and George Hansen.
Mr. Hansen was a carpet installer having worked for Dayton Hudson Corp. in Minneapolis, Minn. He was a member of the Belington Church of Christ.
Cecil C. Lowther
PENNSBORO -- Cecil C. Lowther, 70, of Route 2, St. Marys, French Creek community, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, in Marietta, Ohio.
He was born Nov. 10, 1928, near Glendale, Ritchie County, a son of the late Okey M. and Georgia M. McFarland Lowther. Surviving is his wife, Emza M. Cunningham Lowther.
Also surviving are two sons, Donzil E. Lowther, Scottsboro, Ala., and Jeffrey K. Lowther, St. Marys; one daughter, Amy Beth Lowther, St. Marys; and two sisters, Elda Mae Ross, Parkersburg, and Maxine McPherson, Washington. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Lowther.
Mr. Lowther was retired from the Acme Fishing Co. of Parkersburg as shipping clerk with 38 years of service. He was a graduate of Pennsboro High School with the class of 1947 and a member of the French Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
