Vernon F. "Vern" Sholtz
WAUKESHA - Vernon F. "Vern" Sholtz, age 87, of Waukesha was born to eternal life on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at the Waters of Westmoreland Health Center in Waukesha. He was born March 28, 1913, in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Frank and Arlene (nee Anderson) Sholtz. Vern was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Waukesha. Vern had operated the Mer-Mil DX filling station in Waukesha, located on the corner of St. Paul Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue during the late 1940s until 1969. After that, he was employed at Dairyland Foods until his retirement in 1978. Vern was a musician, and a member of the Senior Songsters, a musical group that entertained throughout the area. Vern played the keyboard all his life.
Vern is survived by his wife, Jewell, of Waukesha and by daughters Arlene (Bill Sr.) Belmer of Waukesha and Anita (Art) Richardson of Mukwonago. He is also survived by grandchildren Bill Jr. (Shari), Bob, Brent (Rae Lynn) and Bryan (Laurie) Belmer; and Cory (Bill) Hurst, Tim (Amy) Richardson, Rene (Mark) Liska and Scott (Kristy) Richardson. He is further survived by 15 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Vern was preceded in death by his first wife, Fern, in February 1983 and by grandson Brad Belmer in 1992.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Rudolph-Larsen Bros. Funeral Home, East Avenue at Carroll Street in Waukesha, with the Rev. Frank Gaylord officiating. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27 at Prairie Home cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at Rudolph-Larsen Bros. If desired, memorials to the First United Methodist Church would be appreciated by the family.
Peter Walter Bach
WAUKESHA - Waukesha resident Peter Walter Bach died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital at the age of 92.
He was born April 2, 1908, in Manitowoc to Peter and Mary (nee Joworski) Bach. On Sept. 3, 1932, he married
the former Hazel Grabow. He worked at George Cox Plumbing for 40 years, retiring in 1975. He was a current member of Waukesha Lodge No. 37, Free and Accepted Masons, Waukesha Commandery No. 23 K.T., Waukesha Chapter No. 37 Royal Arch Masons, Waukesha Council No. 29 Royal and Select Masons and Tripoli Shrine.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 69 years, Hazel, along with their daughter, Mary Ann (Jack) Kauffman of Carter Lake, Iowa. He was the beloved grandfather of Pete (Karen) Mitchell of Waukesha and the dear great-grandfather of Samantha, Sabrina and Sahara Mitchell, all of Waukesha. He is further survived by his sisters, Adeline Mlodzik and Rosemary (Huntz) Nader, and brother Art Bach, all of Waukesha, as well as other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Mitchell Peter; his sisters, Anne Rapp, Josephine Meyer and Marie Makoutz; and his brothers, John, Eugene "Buck" and Frederick "Fritz" Bach.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. The Rev. James Bickel will officiate. Donald L. Bartholf
WAUKESHA - Donald L. Bartholf of Waukesha died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at the Heartland Health Care Center at the age of 75.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1925, in Burlington, the son of Earl B. and Alice (nee Van Balhuise) Bartholf.
Don retired from the Wisconsin Natural Gas Company and was a member of their Emba Club. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Waukesha. Don enjoyed fishing and casinos.
He is the beloved husband of Louise (nee Riesland) Bartholf and the dear father of Steven of Edgewater, Michael (Janet) of Waukesha, Marvin of Oconomowoc and Penney (Donald) Anderson of Waukesha. He is the dear brother of Shirley (Robert) Thomas of Mesa, Ariz., and Beverly (Richard) Stang of Burlington. He will be missed by eight grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Robert W. Bartholf.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at the chapel at Prairie Home cemetery, 605 S. Prairie Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Howard Bowman will officiate. Roy H. ‘Whitey’ Dowling
WAUKESHA - Lifelong Waukesha resident Roy H. "Whitey" Dowling died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. He was born in Waukesha on Dec. 23, 1917, the son of Paul and Augusta (nee Yopps) Dowling.
Roy was a lifelong member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukesha. He worked at Quality Aluminum Casting Co. for over 25 years and also worked for the Labor Temple for over 10 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a swimmer and baseball player.
He is the dear father of Patricia Miller of San Antonio, Texas, and Thomas Roy (Doris) Dowling of Waukesha. He is the brother of Frederick (Pat) Dowling, Elinore Marose and Betty Goderski, all of Waukesha. He is the dear grandfather of Lynn (Paul) Alvarado, Eugene (Jodi) Miller, Thomas (Bonnie) Dowling, Chad Dowling and Kimberly Dowling. He is the great-grandfather of Katie Scarlett Alvarado. Also surviving are other relatives and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Dowling, in 1999.
Funeral services for Roy will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukesha; the Rev. Dan Schowalter will officiate. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Entombment will be in Prairie Home cemetery.

Joseph Jimenez
WAUKESHA - Joseph Jimenez, 101, of Waukesha, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Celaya, Gto, Mexico on May 25, 1899, to the late Perfecta (nee Martinez) and Lukas Jimenez. In 1919 he married
Felisa M. Martinez, who preceded him in death on May 25, 1999. Mr. Jimenez was a Waukesha resident since 1920, a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and always looked forward to planting his vegetable and flower garden each year until he was 100 years old.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Anna Cantu and Mary (Timothy) Gonzales, both of Waukesha, Secora (Elias) Garza of Milwaukee, Lupe (Mickey) Jimenez of Waukesha; Esther (Robert) Finn of Jacksonville, N.C., Evelyn Lugo and Rose (Enrique) Chacon, both of Waukesha, and the Catarino Monreal family of Waukesha. Twenty-six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, other relatives and many friends also survive. In addition to his wife, Felisa, he was preceded in death by his sister, Irinea; his grandson, Fernando Monreal; his granddaughter, Tracy Finn of North Carolina; his daughter, Elizabeth Monreal; and his sons-in-law, Aurelio Lugo and Lupe Cantu.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Dec. 27, at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home; a prayer vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Services will continue on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home with closing prayers at 9:30 a.m., then on to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Graveside services will follow at St. Joseph’s cemetery Chapel.

James Koch
MUKWONAGO - James Koch of Mukwonago died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at the age of 75.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Miren Ann (nee Henningfeld); his brother, Kenneth; and his sister, Katherine Sauer. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. today, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 830 Highway NN East, Mukwonago. Interment will be at Oak Knoll cemetery.

Robert Joseph Kramer
BELLA VISTA, Ark. - Robert Joseph Kramer, 42, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at his home in Bella Vista, Ark. He was born in Milwaukee on Feb. 28, 1958, to William and Patricia Kramer.
He moved to Bella Vista three years ago from Waukesha. He was a 1980 graduate of Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill. He enjoyed billiards, golf, fishing and hunting. He was a systems consultant for Keane Incorporated, formerly known as G.E. Medical Systems, for 12 years.
He is survived by his parents, William R. Kramer and Patricia L. Kramer of Bella Vista; his paternal grandmother, Emma L. Kramer of Elcho; two daughters, Jessica L. Kramer of Sheboygan and Michelle A. Kramer of Sheboygan; one brother, William F. Kramer of Waukesha; three sisters, Andrea L. Brew of Richmond, Va., Jeannette M. Bjerke of Waukesha and Patricia L. Koscinski of Big Bend; one niece and three nephews.
A Memorial Mass for Robert will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha.

Elinor A. Miller
WAUWATOSA - Elinor A. Miller (nee Stendler) of Wauwatosa passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at the age of 87.
She was the beloved wife of Fred Z. who celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary Dec. 21, 2000. She was the loving mother of Jeanine (Edward) Maly, Douglas (Martha) Miller and Terry Miller. She was the proud grandmother of Elaine Maly (Tom Taubert) Mary Jo (Matthew) Lerch, Joseph (Wendy) Maly, Stephanie (Shawn) Amara, Jorge Bernal, Kyle Miller, Danielle Miller, Natalia Miller, Christine (Mark) Krumplitsch and Miles (Tara) Miller. She was the dear sister of Robert (Bernadine) Stendler, and is further survived by 14 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. today, Dec. 27, at Larsen Bros. New Berlin Chapel, 15250 W. National Ave. Visitation will continue Thursday, Dec. 28, from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service at Luther Manor Faith and Education Center, 4611 N. 92nd Street, Milwaukee. Interment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Lia Erin Schmidt
WAUKESHA - Lia Erin Schmidt, 22, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born on Aug. 8, 1978, to Jeff and Marlene (nee Morgan) Schmidt. Lia was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School class of 1996 and was presently in her final year at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she was to graduate in May with a degree in occupational therapy.
Lia is loved and will be sadly missed by her parents, Jeff and Marlene Schmidt of Waukesha and her brother, Michael Schmidt of Winter Park, Fla.; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Helen Morgan of Des Moines, Iowa; and two aunts, Kathleen Morgan of Des Moines and Helen Schmidt of West Allis. Lia is also survived by her fiance', Jeremy Moungey of Madison, and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Dr. B.V. Morgan O.D., and paternal grandparents, Edward and E. June Schmidt.

Rita P. Scoigletti
FOND DU LAC - Former Waukesha resident Rita P. Scoigletti died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at the Lutheran Home in Fond du Lac at the age of 89. She was born March 7, 1911, in Malone, the daughter of Gregor and Johanna (nee Freund) Stephany.
Rita was a charter member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waukesha, the St. Mary’s Christian Mothers, the Ladies Auxiliary of The Knights of Columbus in Waukesha and the Senior Citizen’s Club.
She is survived by her brother, Harry (Dolores) Stephany, and her sisters, Adeline Brandt and Irma Zerneke, all of Fond du Lac. She is the grandmother of Patti, Jeff and Michael, the great-grandmother of Kelly, Tracy, Michael and Samantha, and the great-great-grandmother of Sierra, Bre and Michael. Also surviving are other relatives and friends. Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Michael, on June 18, 1989; her daughter, Joanne; and her brothers, Robert, Richard and Milton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 232 S. Peters Ave., Fond du Lac; the Rev. Patrick Heppe will celebrate Mass. Ms. Claudia J. Tessman
WAUKESHA - Ms. Claudia J. Tessman, 61, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born in West Bend on Dec. 13, 1939, to Edward E. and Agnes Mae (nee Beck) Tessman. Claudia was employed at the Waukesha Training Center and had lived at Canaan House in Delafield and attended Sojourn Home daily.
She will be sadly missed by her sister, Vivian (Nick) Nicponski of Ocean Shores, Wash., Barbara (William) Wolfinger of Crown Point, Ind., Grace Reed of Vernon, Ariz., Corinne (Emile) Milovich of Spring Park, Minn., and Sandra (Vern) Bakken of White Lake, Mich. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and many friends at Waukesha Training Center, Canaan House and Sojourn Home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert; her sister, Joyce Tessman; and her nephew, Jeffrey Bakken.

Jane M. VanDerMey
GAITHERSBURG, MD. - Jane M. VanDerMey, formerly of Waukesha and a resident of Gaithersburg, Md., died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000. She was 68. She was born Dec. 4, 1932, the daughter of Henry and Martha Haubrich. She worked for many years for the Wisconsin State Department of Transportation in Waukesha. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. VanDerMey.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Debra (William) Frohna of Rockville, Md., and her grandchildren, Melissa and Nathan.

Victor L. Weisz
FOND DU LAC - Victor L. Weisz, formerly of Waukesha, died Thursday. Dec. 21, 2000, at his home in Fond du Lac. He lived six months in Arizona each year.
Victor is survived by his wife, Virginia, five children and six grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mr. Weisz will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 83 E. 2nd St., Fond du Lac.

Doris F. Borchert
WEST BEND - Doris F. Borchert (nee Redlin) of West Bend passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at the Cedar Lake Home Campus at the age of 94. She was born Dec. 12, 1906, in Rubicon to Frank and Amelia (nee Rohde) Redlin. She married
Elmer Borchert on Sept. 17, 1929, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford.
She was a member of Old Club Cheese Makers of Waukesha. She lived in Waukesha most of her life and moved to Hartford in 1977.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, on Jan. 20, 1964; her parents; four brothers, Arnold, Edgar, Norbert and Roland Redlin; and a sister, Rosella Berndt.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford; the Rev. Daniel Westendorf officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends Friday at the church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Hartford.

George Haverstick
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - George Haverstick, formerly of Waukesha, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at his home in San Diego, Calif. He was born in Waukesha on Feb. 8, 1926, the son of George and Mervyn Haverstick.
George was a graduate of Waukesha High School, and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
After completing his military service, George attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduated from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and received his law degree from the University of San Diego. He owned a private law practice in San Diego until his retirement.
George was a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Waukesha and the Episcopal Cathedral in San Diego.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Harry Croy of Pewaukee and Phillips, and his cousin, Patricia (Chester) Lee of Waukesha. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services will be held in San Diego.
