Linda E. Strassmann
HORICON - Linda E. Strassmann, 67, of Horicon, died on Friday, April 18, 2003, at University Hospital, Madison.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 23, at 1 p.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.
Linda was born on April 1, 1936, in Horicon, the daughter of Bert and Alma (Lentz) Frase. She was married
to Robert Strassmann on Nov. 27, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville.
Linda was a 1954 graduate of Juneau High School. She lived in Horicon with her husband for many years. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Horicon American Legion Auxiliary Unit 157. She loved to travel with her husband and they visited most of the 50 states including Alaska, and countries such as Germany, Canada, and more. She also loved to take car trips with her husband, gardening and loved to write letters. She loved being a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Strassmann, Horicon; three children, Susan (Daniel) Hilbert, Horicon, Steven (Nanette) Strassmann, Aurora, Colo., and Sheryl (Michael) Garcia, Quantico, Va.; four grandchildren, Jessica and Barry Hilbert, and Rachel and Meagan Garcia; two sister, Ethel Karas, Waupun, and Adeline Heppner, Loveland, Colo.; one brother, Douglas (Margaret) Frase, Wrightstown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by his parents; two brother, Harold and Russell Frase, and one sister, Lorraine Ehlers.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon, and on Wednesday, April 23, from noon until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Walter Persha
HORICON - Walter Persha, 91, of Horicon, died on Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.
The funeral will be held on Friday, April 25, 11 a.m., at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.
Walter was born on Nov. 25, 1911, in Iron Ridge, the son of Frank and Helen (Sertich) Persha. He was married
to Gertrude M. Pagel on Sept. 15, 1934, in Horicon.
Walter farmed in the Horicon area for many years, and also owned a trucking business specializing in cattle, milk and other freight. He was a good kind-hearted and caring man, that would do anything for anyone. He was a surrogate father for many children and everyone was always welcome in his home. He loved to deer hunt and did so until his 90th birthday. He was the center of his family and enjoyed all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three children, Ramona Persha, Beaver Dam, Dennis (Lynn) Persha, Horicon, and Sandra (Michael) Thomas, Galesville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Catherine Butina, La Crosse, Mary (Ruben) Gittel, Hartford, and Helen (Howard) Roggenbauer, Beaver Dam; three brothers, Steve Persha, Mayville, Emil Persha, Mayville, and John Persha, Horicon; close friends, Betty Jasger and her son, Michael Jasger, Horicon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1976; three brothers, Mike, Nick and Dan Persha; and two sisters, Rose Hechimovich and Lucille Fetzer.

Brandon R. Kennedy
FALL RIVER - Brandon R. "BK" Kennedy, 18, of Fall River, died on Monday, April 21, 2003, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25, at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fall River. The Rev. James L. Bolda will officiate. Interment will be in the Fall River cemetery, Fall River.
Brandon was born on Feb. 6, 1985, in Columbus, the son of Ronald and Arlene (Selje) Kennedy.
Brandon was a motivated and inspirational senior at Fall River High School and was enrolled in the upcoming fall semester at UW-Platteville in the computer science program. He loved all sports and was a volunteer at Fall River High School. He was employed part-time at the Columbus Nursing Center.
Survivors include his parents Ron and Arlene Kennedy, Fall River; one sister, Crystal, at home; paternal grandparents, John and Jean Kennedy, Fall River; maternal grandmother, Beatrice Selje, Columbus; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roger Selje, and one cousin, Justin Selje.
Friends may call at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fall River, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25.
Brandon will always be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Philip A. Claggett
WAUPUN - Philip A. Claggett, 84, of Waupun, died Monday morning, April 21, 2003, at the Christian Home, Waupun.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 24, at 6 p.m., at the Union-Congregational Church, Waupun. The Rev. Michael Bausch will officiate.
Philip was born on Jan. 11, 1919, in the town of Chester, the son of Arthur and Mary (Folkerts) Claggett. He was married
to Loretta Owens on Nov. 21, 1941, in Horicon.
Philip and his wife farmed in the town of Chester. He was clerk of the Oak View School and later clerk of five other schools in the town of Chester, until they became incorporated into the Waupun School District. He was also a certified assessor for the town of Chester for 25 years. He was a member of the Union-Congregational Church, Waupun. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta; two sons, Arthur (Penny) Claggett, Neenah, and Dwight (Annette) Claggett, Highbridge; four daughters, Janice (Arthur) Bauman, Brown Deer, Susan (Dick) Rogahn, Hubertus, Nancy (Michael) Maleck, Beaver Dam, and Debra (Robert) Levey, Waupun; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; an infant brother; one granddaughter, and one grandson.

Newton Alsum
RANDOLPH - Newton Alsum, 74, of N8905 Posthuma Road, Randolph, died on April 23, 2003, at his home, surrounded by his family.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m., at the First Randolph Christian Reformed Church, East Friesland. The Rev. Robert Brenton will officiate. Burial will be in the Friesland cemetery.
Newton was born on Aug. 28, 1928, the son of Lambert and Jennie (Stiemsma) Alsum. He was married
to Theresa Homan on Feb. 10, 1950.
Newton lived in the Randolph community his entire life. He was a member of the First Randolph Christian Reformed Church, serving on the church council and building committees. He also served on the boards of Randolph Christian School and the Waupun Christian Home. He was a dairy farmer most of his life. He was know for his skills in the areas of welding, fixing and building. He enjoyed life on the farm, hunting, traveling, and teaching his children Christian living and the value of hard work. Second to his love for his Lord and Savior was his love for his wife and family. Joy and laughter were abundant when he was surrounded by children and grandchildren, especially on the family camping trips and Sunday suppers.
At the age of 58, he began a couregeous battle against leukemia, during his illness, he was still able to travel many places and enjoy many of life's special moments with his wife and family. Though his illness was persistent, so was his strength in living each new day trusting in God to sustain and uphold him. His prayer was for future generations to embrace Christ as their Savior.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Theresa; eight children, Larry (Paula) Alsum, Friesland, Marilyn (Steve) Mulder, Tony (Sandy) Alsum, both of Waupun, Norb (Sandee) Alsum, Jan (Brian) Braaksma, Lorie (Steve) Tillema, Tom (Debra) Alsum, Lisa (Stuart) White, all of Randolph; 28 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha (Louis) Bylsma; two in-laws, Arnold (Grace) Homan, and Gertrude (Bill) Gaastra; 17 nephews and nieces, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, and one nephew.
Friends may call on Friday, April 25, from 4 to 7:30 p.m., at the First Randolph Christian Reformed Church, N8876 East Friesland Road, and again on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Lester Arndt
HORICON - Lester Arndt, 85, of Horicon, died on Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Clearview North, Juneau.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, April 27, at 4 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. The Rev. M. Eugene Kinney will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon.
Lester was born on Aug. 3, 1917, in the town of Oak Grove, Dodge County, the son of Henry and Hattie (Buchman) Arndt. He was married
to Shirley Mallon on March 16, 1940, in Iowa.
Lester lived in Horicon for many years. He was a mason for several contractors for many years. He also worked at Broan Manufacturing in Hartford for over 15 years until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Horicon. He enjoyed traveling to Arizona for a number of years during the winter. He also enjoyed camping, the Packers and his family. He was known as the eternal flame manager at Willow Mills Campground in Rio.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Arndt, Horicon; four children, Eugene (Marlene) Arndt, Horicon, Rosey Weber, Columbus, Richard (Joanne) Arndt, Madison, and Janice (Tom) Rohloff, Casa Grande, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers in infancy.

Vernon C. Sehloff
Vernon C. Sehloff, 79, of Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, at 1 p.m., at Wayland Academy Chapel, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Ralph Wiedenhoeft will officiate. Cremation will take place.
Vernon was born on Nov. 15, 1923, in Two Rivers, the son of Paul and Amanda (Jens) Sehloff. He was married
to Bernadine Schlegelmilch on Aug. 24, 1946, in Denmark, Wis.
Vernon graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was stationed on the USS Lexington aircraft carrier until his discharge in 1946. On Aug. 24, 1946, he married
Bernadine Schlegelmilch in Denmark, Wis. After the honeymoon to Niagara Falls, he registered at the University of Wisconsin where he attained a degree in English and chemistry in 1950. His teaching career began at Menomonie in the high school; followed by Shawano High School. He then was recruited by the J.I. Case Co. in Burlington, Iowa, to work on technical catalogues. After two years he was asked by Ray Patterson to come to Wayland Academy to teach English. His career at Wayland spanned 14 years. He then worked at the Highsmith Co. in Fort Atkinson. His talents led him to newspaper editing and advertising at the Waupun Leader News until 1989, when he retired at the age of 65.
Vernon loved teaching so he substituted for many years at the Beaver Dam High School and other area schools. He coached debate at the Beaver Dam school. He was a kind man with a twinkle in his eye and a smile for everyone who came his way. He had a genuine interest in people and loved conversing on a wide variety of topics. He was a wonderful listener and was always interested in listening to other’s ideas.
He was an excellent photographer and artist. He liked painting furniture and kept busy working around his home. He had a great love for his family. His wife, Bernadine and he shared many wonderful adventures in their 57 years of marriage. He was lucky to be married
to his best friend. He was very proud of his two sons and all their accomplishments. He loved spending time with his two granddaughters. They will miss his great sense of humor and companionship.
Survivors include his wife, Bernadine "Bernie" Sehloff, Beaver Dam; two sons, Thomas (friend Patty Holz) Sehloff, Eagle Point, Ore., and Dr. James (Patricia) Sehloff, Fitchburg; AFS son, Ruy Santana, Curitiba, Brazil; two grandchildren, Kristen and Molly Sehloff, Fitchburg; two sister, Dorothy Rhode, Lewiston, Mich., and Grace Sehloff, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the time of service at the Wayland Academy Chapel, Beaver Dam. A gathering and luncheon will be held after the memorial service.

Margaret H. Bosch
MAYVILLE - Margaret H Bosch, 78, of 140 Barwig Ave., Mayville, died on Friday, April 25, 2003, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.
Private family services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery, Mayville.
Margaret was born on Feb. 2, 1925, in Mayville, the daughter of Harold and Elda (Ferge) Polzen. She was married
to Hubert "Hub" Bosch on July 17, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mayville.
Margaret was a 1942 graduate of Mayville High School. She was a secretary for Maysteel for 12 years and a bookkeeper for Mayville Woodwork for 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mayville. She enjoyed bowling and going to the casino.
Survivors include her husband, Hub Bosch, Mayville; two children, Jim (Danita) Bosch, Marinette, and Janet (Jerry) Rosin, Menasha; sister and brother, Gerald (Gaye) Polzin, Beaver Dam, and Earl (JoAnne) Polzen, Mayville; three grandchildren, Justin and Jamie Rosin, and Anna Bosch; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Marion Boeck.
Private family visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.

Helen I. Fennessy
Helen Iona (Owens) Fennessy, 88, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Friday evening, April 25, 2003, at Continental Manor, Randolph.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 30, at 7 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake. The Rev. Eileen Kuehnl will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden cemetery, town of Trenton.
Helen was born on Nov. 15, 1914, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Lou and Mabel (Aldridge) Simmons. She was united in marriage to Herbert Charles Owens in 1936, at the First Congregation Church, Fox Lake.
Following her high school graduation from Pardeeville High School. She was employed with Pardeeville and Fox Lake area residents doing housekeeping. Helen and her husband farmed south of Fox Lake until his death in 1959. She then moved to Juneau and was employed with Clearview Nursing Home, when she met her second husband, Michael Fennessy and was married
in 1961. They lived in Juneau until his death in 1988, she then moved to Beaver Dam until moving to the Continental Manor in November of 2002. She was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist in Beaver Dam, past member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fox Lake, and served as town clerk for the town of Fox Lake.
She will be sadly missed by one son, Richard Owens, Randolph; three grandchildren, Jeff (Debra) Owens, Randolph, Tracy Owens, Beaver Dam, and Charles Owens, Waupun; one step-grandson, Scott (Danielle) Steinhorst, Hartford; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one great-grandson; many sisters and brothers, and one daughter-in-law.
