Margaret Selle
EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. - Margaret Messer Selle, 91, of Eureka Springs, Ark., died on Monday, July 8, 2002.

The funeral was held on Thursday, July 11, at the Harder Funeral Home, Brookfield. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam, next to her husband, Victor, and parents.

Mrs. Selle was born on Dec. 26, 1910, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Andrew and Marie (Possin) Messer. She was married in 1935, to the Rev. Victor Selle, in the town of Trenton.

Mrs. Selle was educated and confirmed at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. She left her family home to receive her secondary education at Milwaukee Lutheran High School, graduating in 1928, and subsequently received a degree in nursing from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Milwaukee. Most of her nursing years were spent doing private duty nursing. In her later years, she worked as a registered nurse, then as a volunteer, at the Lutheran Home for the Aged, Milwaukee. She and her husband made their home in parishes in Kentucky and Indiana, then returned to Wisconsin. They resided in Milwaukee until her husband's death.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosalind Selle, Holiday, Fla., and Judi Selle, Eureka Springs, Ark.; three granddaughters; two great-grandsons; one brother, Edgar (Charlotte) Messer, Beaver Dam; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Victor Selle, in 1985.

Memorials may be made to Emmaus Lutheran Church and School, 2810 N. 23rd St., Milwaukee, WI 53206.

The Harder Funeral Home, Brookfield, served the family.

Virginia Thiel
FREDONIA - Virginia Thiel, 75, of 312 St. Rose, Ave., Fredonia, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at the Mequon Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, July 21, at 7 p.m., at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington. The Rev. Robert Zick will officiate. Burial will be in Waubeka Union cemetery.

Mrs. Thiel was born on Feb. 26, 1927, in Chilton, the daughter of Ado and Lucille (Sanem) Watry. She was married on Sept. 11, 1947, to Harold Thiel at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Port Washington.

Mrs. Thiel enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing canasta and looking after her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Thiel, Fredonia; her children, Robert (Sandi) Thiel, Fredonia, Harold Thiel Jr., West Bend, Gary (Jennifer) Thiel, Beaver Dam, Karen (Steve) Konitzer, Manawa, and Jeff (Jean Roller) Thiel, Belgium; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia (Vince) Weyker, Port Washington; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Shawn and Jessica.

Friends may call on Sunday, July 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.

Gerald E. Kliefoth
MAYVILLE - Gerald E. Kliefoth, 57, of 273 N. German St., Mayville, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at West Allis Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 1 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Geoffrey Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.

Mr. Kliefoth was born on July 19, 1944, in Hustisford, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Smith) Kliefoth. He was married on Feb. 1, 1969, to Mildred "Mickey" Keller in Iron Ridge.

Mr. Kliefoth attended Mayville High School. He was employed at Schroeder's Floral. He retired from the Mayville Street Department in 2000. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred "Mickey" Kliefoth, Mayville; five children, Debbi (Brian) Muche, Rick Kliefoth, both of Mayville, Dawn (Curt) Norton, Middleton, Jeff (Tammi) Kliefoth, Mayville, and Gerald Poole, Chattanooga, Tenn.; three brothers, Du Wayne (Nancy) Simon, West Bend, Ray (Carole) Smith, Hustisford, and Donald (Sandra) Kliefoth Jr., Mayville; three sisters, Carole (Robert) Hartwig, Horicon, Clara (Edward) Marshall, Oconomowoc, and Dianna (Wayne) Chapman, Juneau; 13 brothers and sisters-in-law, Betty McVicker, Fort Wayne, Ind., Ron (Ursula) Keller, Iron Ridge, Janet (Ron) Wendling, Theresa, Charlie (Joann) Keller, Bill (Sue) Keller, both of Iron Ridge, Mariann (Rudy) Mohr, West Bend, Verna (Larry) Scola, Fond du Lac, Daniel "Boone" (Barb) Keller, Iron Ridge, Gladys (Bob) Lange, Horicon, Donald "Ike" (Sue) Keller, Kekoskee, Shirley (Loren) Giese, Robert (Barb) Keller, both of Mayville, and Sharon (Dave) Schaller, St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law; mother-in-law; one brother-in-law, David, and one nephew.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Mary Ann G. Biertzer
MAYVILLE - Mary Ann G. Biertzer, 69, of 702 Dayton St., Mayville, died on Friday, July 19, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Cemter.

A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, July 22, at 7 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Fond du Lac.

Mrs. Biertzer was born on Aug. 28, 1932, in Mayville, the daughter of Arthur and Isabella (Schultz) Garms. She was married on Aug. 20, 1955, to Miland P. Biertzer at St. Mary Church, Mayville.

Mrs. Biertzer was a 1950 graduate of Mayville High School, a 1952 graduate of Dodge County Normal School, and a 1966 graduate of Marion College, Fond du Lac. She taught all eight grades at Liberty Bell School of Burnett from 1952-1957, taught school at St. Mary Catholic School in Mayville and St. Andrew Catholic School in LeRoy, and taught school at Mayville Public School for 23 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville, a member of the Wisconsin Retired Educator's Association, and a member of the Dodge County Area Retired Educator's, where she served as membership chairperson. She was a member of Wisconsin Education Association and the National Education Association.

Survivors include four children, Thomas Biertzer, Mayville, Steven Biertzer, Cedarburg, Gary Biertzer, and Joellen Biertzer, both of Mayville; one brother, Lewis (Ellie) Garms, Lake Wylie, S.C.; two aunts, LaVerne Giese, and Maxine (Vernon) Rost; two grandchildren, Shane Nicholas and Cassie Jo Biertzer; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Miland.

Friends may call on Monday, July 22, from 5 to 7 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary School Fund for needy students.

Bernice S. Wilke
RACINE - Bernice S. Wilke, 75, of Racine, died on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical center.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1700 S. Green Bay Road, Racine. The Rev. Stephen Samuelson will officiate.

Mrs. Wilke was born on Aug. 13, 1926, in Hustisford, the daughter of Emil and Frieda (Schmidt) Bremer. She was married on Sept. 22, 1951, to Gordon E. Wilke.

Mrs. Wilke was a 1944 graduate of Cadet Nurses Training at Mount Sinai Hospital, Milwaukee, and served in the nursing profession as a registered nurse all of her working years. She was an avid gardener and a wonderful caretaker. More than anything she loved spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Gordon; two daughters, Gail (Tim) Bennett, Wildwood, Ill., and Lisa (Ted) Heberling, Mercer; two grandchildren, Danielle and Michael Bennett; one brother, Darwin (Doris) Bremer, Beaver Dam; two sisters-in-law, Viola Wilke, Hartland, and Virginia Wilke, Brookfield; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brother, Bernard (Cleo) Bremer and Hubert (Edna) Bremer.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 23, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, Racine.

The Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home, Racine, is serving the family.

Doris Reihbandt
MADISON - Doris Reihbandt, 77, of Madison, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Meriter Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 3 p.m., at Murray Community funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Inurnment will be in Highland Memory Garden at a later date.

Ms. Reihbandt was born on June 25, 1925, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Alvin and Mattie (Schommer) Keller.

Ms. Reihbandt was a 1943 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She worked at Monarch Iron Range in Beaver Dam. While she lived in Beaver Dam, she was a member of First Lutheran Church where she worked with the Ladies Aid and the Senior Citizens Group. She enjoyed cake decorating, gardening, flowers, baseball and helping those who were in need. She also enjoyed crafts and made cherished gifts for her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Fredrick, Green Lake, and Kathleen Reihbandt, Madison; one grandson, Michael Dan Fredrick, Ripon; one brother, Alvin Keller, Beaver Dam; two sisters, Beverly (John) Johnson, Sacramento, Calif., and Karen Keller, Juneau; one niece and four nephews, James (Dawn) Keller, Beaver Dam, Ann (Fred) Silloway, Delafield, Mark Keller, Madison, Michael (Anne) Keller, Bloomington, Ind., and Patrick (Debra) Keller, Sussex; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two nieces, Kathleen Keller and Susan Keller.

Evelyn L. Heim
LOWELL - Evelyn L. Heim, 90, of Lowell, died on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 24, at 6 p.m., at Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Carol Lange will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell cemetery, village of Lowell.

Mrs. Heim was born on Feb. 19, 1912, in the town of Chester, the daughter of Fred and Alvina (Kapelle) Kuenzi. She was married on May 6, 1932, to Fred J. Heim in Waupun.

Mrs. Heim worked alongside her husband in the cheese manufacturing business until shortly before his death in 1972. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Lowell, where she was active in the women's group, The Willing Workers.

Survivors include two sons, Fred J. (Helen) Heim Jr., Oconomowoc, and Reginald A. (Sharon) Heim, Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Fred J. (Carol) Heim III, Menomonee Falls, Allen Heim, Beaver Dam, Kevin (Holly) Heim, Oconomowoc, and Eric (Kathy) Heim, Waupun; three step-grandchildren, Crystal Homewood, Lena, Ill., Ted (Jill) Williams, Waukesha, and Rachel (Steve) Saunders, Beaver Dam; four great-grandchildren, Madaline, Annaliese, Alyssa and Spencer; five step-great-grandchildren, Laura, Angela, Ian, Alex and Spencer; one sister, Gertrude Kolitz, Beaver Dam; one brother, Fredrick (Sylvia) Kuenzi, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and care givers, Lorie Hopf, Maureen Vance, Rachel Saunders, Tina Justman, Roxanne Bilke, Linda Bilke, Dorothy Hargrave, Casey Gregory, Jennifer Rhodes, Judi Rhodes, Serene Seufzer, Jenny Seufzer, Nellie Seufzer, Lisa Elmer, KJM Services and Judy Mueller and staff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred, in 1972; one granddaughter, Heidi Ferris (Heim); two brothers, Rudolph and Merlin Kuenzi, and one sister, Dorothy Grossfeld.

Inez Bates
WYOCENA - Inez Bates, 102, a resident of Willow Court Columbia Healthcare Center, Wyocena, formerly of Columbus, died on Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Willow Court.

A combined funeral and Eastern Star service was held on Wednesday, July 17, at 3 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus. Burial was in Bethel cemetery, town of Elba.

Mrs. Bates was born on March 13, 1900, in Ixonia, the daughter of Richard and Eleanor (Jones) Lewis. She was married on March 30, 1921, to William D. Roberts Jr. in Ixonia. She was later married on Oct. 24, 1937, to Terry Bates in Columbus.

Mrs. Bates attended Watertown High School. She was employed with the Borden Co., Columbus, for 15 years, then for Mietzel's Bakery until retirement. She was a 69-year life member of the Order of the Eastern Star Twilight Chapter 163, Sun Prairie; a 78-year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Columbus, and former elder; a member of the Presbyterian Women's Association, and a 35-year member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Portage.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlys Weihert, Columbus; two grandchildren, Glenn (Sally) Weihert, Verona, and Gayle (David) Kadlec, Eagle River; three great-grandchildren, Keith Weihert, Shannon and Melanie Kadlec; one niece, Sandra (Jack) Fendt, La Crosse; one nephew, Richard (Sherrie) Lewis; very good friend, Olive Bowdin; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William D. Roberts Jr., 1934; her second husband, Terry Bates; two brothers, Clayton and David Lewis, one nephew, Rodney Lewis, and one son-in-law, Harold "Fuzzy" Weihert.

Friends called on Wednesday, July 17, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Columbus; Bethel cemetery, town of Elba; Columbia Healthcare Center, or the charity of one's choice.

Joan L. Prest
Joan L. "Vonnie" Prest, 82, of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, July, 19, 2002, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 11 a.m., at New Hope Ministries, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Gary Hohnberger will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

Ms. Prest was born on Feb. 19, 1920, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Henry and Lucille (Williams) Prest. She was married in 1940 to Robert L. Gilmore in Beaver Dam.

Ms. Prest moved to Nevada in 1968. Prior to that she worked at JCPenney's. The Model clothing store and Lennox Heating. In 1992, she returned to Beaver Dam, where she has lived the past 10 years.

Survivors include three children, Patricia (Hilton) Rowe, Centralia, Mo., Georgia Lueptow, Beaver Dam, and Jim (Mary) Gilmore, Phoenix; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Burt (Lorraine) Prest, Fox Lake, and Timothy (Virginia) Prest, Parker, Ariz.; one sister, Donna (Robert) Nimm, Watertown; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1993, and one sister.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 23, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at New Hope Ministries, Beaver Dam.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Della L. Oestreich
JUNEAU - Della L. Oestreich, 93, formerly of Horicon, died on Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Horicon. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Oestreich was born on June 20, 1909, in the town of Hubbard, the daughter of Otto and Alma (Schwinge) Rassman. She was married on Nov. 1, 1930, to Edwin C, Oestreich in Horicon.

Mrs. Prest was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Horicon, where she was active in the Ladies Aid, and a member of the Horicon Senior Citizens. She helped with Bethesda and with Meals-on-Wheels for many years.

Survivors include one brother-in-law, Russell (Doris) Kerr, Horicon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Oestreich, in 1975; one sister, Jeanette Kerr, and three brothers, Arnold, Hugo, and Clarence Rassman.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 23, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Horicon.
