Helen M. Clark
CLINTON, Ill. - Helen M. Clark, 93, of Clinton, Ill., died on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton, Ill.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m., at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill. The Rev. C. Don Ferrill will officiate. Interment will be in the Mausoleum Park cemetery.
Mrs. Clark was born on March 22, 1908, in Wapella, Ill., the daughter of Fred L. and Effie (Houchin) Martin. She was married
to Lewis K. Clark on Nov. 27, 1929, in Wapella, Ill.
Mrs. Clark was a retired teacher and a member of the International Association of Garment Workers.
Survivors include two sons, James B. Clark, Markesan, and Harry W. Clark, Roschelle, Ill.; one daughter, Laura June Zoerner, Manhattan Beach, Calif; one brother, Roy F. Martin, Waynesville, Ill.; three sisters, Eileen Mandrell, Bloomington, Ill., Dorothy Jean Weber, Wayne City, Ill., and Doris Builta, LeRoy, Ill.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis, on April 14, 1979; two grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call on Wednesday, Nov. 7, after 10 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
Walter E. Evenson
RIO - Walter E. Evenson, 80, of Rio, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Columbus Community Hospital.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rio. The Rev. Richard Dowling will officiate. Burial will be in Bonnet Prairie cemetery with military rites by the Rio Legion Post No. 208.
Mr. Evenson was born on March 31, 1921, in Rio, the son of Elmer and Agnes (Jertson) Evenson. He was married
to Norma Sugden. He was married
to Beverly Hurd on July 27, 1986, in Portage.
Mr. Evenson served his country overseas during World War II, serving as a staff sergeant in the Army. He worked for 41 years on the Milwaukee Railroad Co. He lived in Rio the past 15 years, previously living in the Wisconsin Dells and Portage areas. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Rio Legion Post No. 208
Survivors include his wife, Beverly, Rio; one daughter, JoAnn Evans, Cary, N.C.; one granddaughter; two nieces; one cousin; one step-son, Terry (Pat) Rowe, Rio; four step-daughters, Judy (Jerry) Sandberg, Rio, Kathy (Marc) Bernander, Wisconsin Dells, Sandy (Steven) Kolakowski, Rio, and Lori (Chuck) Zach, Rio; 11 step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Norma; three brothers, Ole, Edmund and Ralph Evenson.
Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio, and on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rio.
Brendan A. Malkowski
MARKESAN - Infant Brendan Alexander Malkowski, 3 months, of Markesan, died on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Rockford, Ill.
Graveside services will follow the visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.
Brendan was born on Aug. 12, 2001, in Beaver Dam, the son of Nick Malkowski and Casey Hanni.
Brendan was born premature at the Beaver Dam Hospital, then transferred to St. Mary's Hospital, Madison, and later transferred to Rockford Memorial.
Survivors include his parents, Nick Malkowski and Casey Hanni, Markesan; one half-brother, Dominick Malkowski, Mayville; maternal grandparents, Lin (Tom) Lackey, Markesan, and Jerry Hanni, Mayville; paternal grandparents, Larry (Amber) Wirth, Markesan, and Joseph Malkowski, Wausau; paternal great-grandparents, Roland (Noreda) Hanni, Mayville; step-great-grandparents, Orvel Lackey, Waupun; aunts, Jessica Hanni, Markesan, Jessica Malkowski, Pardeeville, and Amy Malkowski, Watertown; step-aunts and uncles, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, June Jacobson in 1997 and Wes Jacobson in 1994; step-maternal grandmother, Joyce Lackey in 2001, and one aunt, Amanda Hanni in 1980.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 10 until 11 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. Graveside service will follow immediately at Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Theodore DeVries
WAUPUN - Theodore "Ted" DeVries, 78, of Waupun, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Waupun Memorial Hospital, Waupun.
The funeral was held on Monday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m., at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Jeff Brower officiated. Burial was in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun. American Legion Post 210 assisted in the graveside service.
Mr. DeVries was born on May 29, 1923, in Fox Lake, the son of Geram and Martha (Medema) DeVries. He was married
to Sarah Essenburgh in 1945. He was married
to Marian Dekker on May 11, 1977, in Chicago.
Mr. DeVries was employed in home construction in the Chicago area. He later became self-employed with his brother, George, in DeVries Brothers Construction in Chicago. In 1971, he did mission work in Rehovoth, N.M. on the Rehovoth Indian Reservation. He and his second wife, Marian, resided in Hinsdale, Ill., where he became self-employed remodeling and building new homes. He was a member of Christ Church, Hinsdale, Ill., and was active in youth mission work trips. He was active in the Christian Reformed Church World Relief Committee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force having served during World War II in the Europen Theatre. He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Waupun.
Survivors include his wife, Marian; two daughters, Marcy (Calvin) Tamminga, Elmhurst, Ill., and Joyce (Kirt) Zimmerman, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; three step-daughters, Jeralynn (Tom) Faltynski, Jacksonville, Fla., Gwynn (Jim) Sterksen, Saline, Mich., and Patricia (Ed) Holman, Downers Grove, Ill.; one step-son, James (Alicia) Dekker, Portsmouth, Va.; 19 grandchildresn; 5 great-grandchildren; three brothers, George (Julia) DeVries, Mevin (Janet) DeVries, and Kenneth (Evelyn) DeVries, all of Waupun; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and one brother.
Friends called on Sunday, Nov. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Monday, Nov. 5, from 10 until the time of service.
Dane M. Buchta
MAYVILLE - Dane Michael Buchta, 17, of 306 Williams St., Mayville, died on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Central Wisconsin Center, Madison.
A family memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Edward Blonski will officiate. Cremation will take place.
Mr. Buchta was born on April 25, 1984, in Fond du Lac, the son of Daniel and Lois (Schraufnagel) Buchta.
Survivors include his parents, Daniel and Lois Buchta, Mayville; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Marie Buchta, Mayville; maternal grandmother, Florence Grenas, Mayville; his sister, Kelsey Buchta, Mayville, his brother, Abram Buchta, Mayville, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Victor Schraufnagel; step-grandfather, Frank Grensa and his uncle, Roger Schraufnagel.
The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Nina I. Nehls
HUSTISFORD - Nina I. Nehls, 91, of Hustisford, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 1001, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m., at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, Hustisford. The Rev. Timothy W. Bauer will officiate. Burial will be in the Hustisford cemetery.
Mrs. Nehls was born on Oct. 8, 1910, in Medo township, Blue Earth County, Minn., the daughter of Frederick and Augusta (Knuth) Holtz. She was married
to Norman Nehls on Dec. 11, 1932, in Mapleton, Minn.
Mrs. Nehls was a member of the Rock River View Homemakers Club and the Bethany Lutheran Ladies Aid Society. She and her husband farmed in the Hustisford area most of their lives. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Survivors include her daughter, Claudia (Harold) Krohn, Tucson, Ariz.; three sons, David (Ruth) Nehls, Neosho, Charles (Carol) Nehls, Hustisford, and Stanley Nehls, Hustisford; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Viona Holtz, St. Clair, Minn., and Evelyn Holtz, Wauseca, Minn.; one aunt, Erna Leitzke, Hustisford; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; her brothers, Ted, Richard, Ervin, Louie and Henry; her sisters, Marie, Adele and Hertha; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hustisford, and on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from noon to 2 p.m., at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, Husitisford.

Louise Kusel
FOX LAKE - Louise Kusel, 93, of 209 Forest St., Fox Lake, formerly of Watertown, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at the Barrett House, Fox Lake.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Watertown, The Rev. Cope Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Watertown.
Ms. Kusel was born on April 22, 1908, in Watertown, the daughter of Louis and Margaret (Hartig) Kusel.
Ms. Kusel attended Lincoln Elementary School, Watertown High School, Northwestern College, Watertown and Milwaukee County Normal School. She and her brother owned and operated Kusel Hardware, Watertown. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Watertown. She was active in the church, was former church treasurer and former member of St. Paul's Women Guild.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Mildred L. Kusel, Waupun; one niece, Karen S. Levey, Fox Lake; one grand-niece, Renee (Geno) Johnson, Waterford; and one grand-nephew, Todd R. (Lisa) Levey, Hortonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Edwin and William Kusel.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 6, after 10 a.m. in the Guild Hall and memorial chapel at St. Paul Episcopal Church.
Bernice L. Adelmeyer
MAYVILLE - Bernice L. Adelmeyer, 71, of 1118 Horicon St., Mayville, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.
No memorial service will be held. Cremation will take place.
Mrs. Adelmeyer was born on May 14, 1930, to Arnold and Elnora (Krieser) Goss in Mayville. She was married
to Norbert Adelmeyer on Nov. 18, 1948, in Brownsville.
Mrs. Adelmeyer was employed at Hoff's Meat Market in Brownsville until her retirement.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy (Eldon) Heinz, Oakfield; one sister, Lola (Wilbert) Toellner, Mayville; one brother, William (Valeria) Goss, Fox Lake; one sister-in-law, Marlene Goss, Farmersville; two granddaughters, Crissy (Chad) Catt and Shelley (Dan) Koch; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Hailey, Colton, Mariah and Caleb; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norbert in 1999, and one brother, Roy.

Lois A. Benike
VENICE, Fla. - Lois Ann Benike, 63, of Venice, Fla., died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, Oct. 29, 2001.
A private family service was held on Thursday, Nov. 1.
Mrs. Benike was born on Aug. 15, 1938, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Fred and Ruth Kuhnke. She was married
on Dec. 26, 1956, to Don Benike.
Mrs. Benike worked for WEA Insurance Trust and Madison Area Technical College. She and her husband moved to Venice, Fla., from Madison in 1979. She retired from Manatee Community College in August 2000, after 20 years of service. She was loved by all who knew her, even the students whose lives she touched so briefly. She received awards for her dedicated service at Manatee College. Prior to her work at MCC, she worked for the state of Florida in the Highway Patrol Office. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Venice, Fla.
Survivors include three daughters, Julie (Gary) Padley, Madison, Debi (Bob) Brabson, Sarasota, Fla., and Liz (Mike) O'Connor, Venice, Fla.; one son, Mark (Renee) Benike, Mount Horeb; one sister, Sharon (Roland) Voigt, Waupun; 12 grandchildren, Jacob Padley, Megan Padley, Grant Padley, Crystal Padley, Robby Brabson, Josh Brabson, Patrick O'Connor, Kevin O'Connor, Lindsay Lease, Nicole Lease, Devon Benike and Michael Benike; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Don, in 1999.
There was no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

George R. Stieglitz
George R. Stieglitz, 55, died on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001.
The funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, at noon, at the Harder Funeral Home, 18700 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield.
Mr. Stieglitz was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service.
Beloved son of Leona and the late Wilmer Stieglitz; dear brother of the late Roger (Carol) Stieglitz; nephew of Robert (Barbara) Quandt; uncle of Roger (Diane) Stieglitz, Laura (Mike) Maertz, Cindy (Scott) Brooks, Tracy Stieglitz, and Walter (Donna) Bickle.
Also survived by relatives and friends.
