Harland Meseberg
MADISON - Harland "Boots" Meseberg, 67, a resident of City View Nursing Home, Madison, died on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at the nursing home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m., at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus. The Rev. Bruce Hennington will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.
Mr. Meseberg was born on Dec. 14, 1934, in Cashton, the son of Clarence and Anna (Suhr) Meseberg. He was married
on June 27, 1959, to Nancy Roraff in LaCrosse.
Mr. Meseberg was employed at one time with Gisholt, Madison, and Datex Ohmeda, Madison, for 17 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of 4 Lakes 4 Wheelers, was a March of Dimes volunteer, and was an active AA member for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Meseberg, Sun Prairie; two sons, Tony Meseberg, Keshena, and Tom Meseberg, Columbus; two daughters, Laurie (Don) Baerwolf, and Leann (Neal) Setz, both of Columbus; three grandchildren, Becky (Ed Schultz) Baerwolf, Danny (Roseann) Baerwolf, and Elizabeth Baerwolf; three great-grandchildren; Casondra Baerwolf, Cameron Baerwolf, and Alannis Schultz; two sisters, Donna (Richard) Saunders, Mazomanie, and Marlene (Joseph) Stahl, Genoa; relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Ted.
Friends may call on Saturday, Dec. 29, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus.

Alex F. Vetter
WAUSAU - Alex F. Vetter, 93, formerly of Beaver Dam and Marathon, died on Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery .
Mr. Vetter was born on May 21, 1908, in Marathon, the son of Jacob and Augusta (Lemmer) Vetter. He was married
on July 29, 1935 to Mona Trochinski in Wheaton, Minn.
Mr. Vetter and his family moved to Beaver Dam in 1948 and he served as principal of Lincoln Elementary School for 26 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Knights of Columbus, the Dodge County Retired Teachers Association, and had been awarded the Silver Beaver Award in boy scouting. He and his wife loved square dancing and were members of the Swinging Beavers Square Dance Club. They also enjoyed camping and had traveled world-wide.
Survivors include one son, James (Marilyn) Vetter, Hudson; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Esther Vetter, Marathon, and Lucita Johanson, Wheaton, Minn.; three special nieces and their families, Jackie Lemanski, Marathon, Irene (Chet) Hoffman, Mosinee, and Sandy (Laverne) Lang, Marathon; many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mona, on Jan. 21, 1995; four sisters, Isabelle Lang, Priscilla Aberwald Elizabeth Ritger, and Mary Vetter; six brothers, Hugo, Rudolph, Bruno, Mark, Matthew, and Jacob.
Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m., at the Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, and on Saturday, Dec. 29, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.

Ottilia M. Buerger
MAYVILLE - Ottilia Marie Buerger, 85, of 249 N. German St., Mayville, died on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Buerger was born on Sept. 20, 1916, the daughter of Caecilia Ziegler Buerger and Felix P. Buerger in the city of Mayville.
Mrs. Buerger was a 1934 graduate of Mayville High school. She was a Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude graduate of Lawrence College, Appleton, in 1938. For a number of years she taught Latin and English in high schools in Goodman, Wautoma and Beaver Dam. She travel extensively in the United States and abroad, and lectured with her own slides on her travels.
Her hobbies of photography, philately and numismatics earned her an interesting and international circle of friends. She became very interested in collecting ancient Greek and Roman coins, some of which were minted 500 years before Christ. She assembled a world-renowned collection of these ancient coins and has loaned that to Lawrence University. It is one of the best collections of ancient Roman and Greek coins in the United States.
In later years Ottilia Buerger kept house for her father and brother. she lived in Mayville all her life. Receding her in death were two brothers and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at the Wriston Art Center, which is adjacent to the Lawrence University library, on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow. Those who attend will have the ability to see a portion of the coin collection of Ottilia Buerger. Memorials can be made to TAG Center, Mayville, or Lawrence University.
Doris G. Kaul
Doris G. Kaul, 72, of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at the Remembrance Home, Beaver Dam.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Beaver Dam.
Mrs. Kaul was born on May 17, 1929, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Andrew and Orma (Zimmerman) Dietz. She was married
on Aug. 10, 1946, to Frank Kaul in Beaver Dam.
Mrs. Kaul was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered as a friendly bartender at the Buckhorn Supper Club, where she worked for many years.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol (Robert) Ganske, Gloria (Tom) Wimmer, and Mary (Richard) Horstmann, all of Beaver Dam; one son, Gary (Marcy) Kaul, Beaver Dam; six grandchildren, Jonathon (Patti) Ganske, Stoughton, Jason (fiancee Leslie Schepp) Ganske, Waupun, Darrick (Amy Marthaler) Wimmer, Wausau, Darren Wimmer, Beaver Dam, Dawn (John Zychowicz) Horstmann, Tigerton, and Gary Kaul Jr., Beaver Dam; one brother, Donald (Betty) Dietz, Mercer; four brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Marian) Kaul, Harry (Sandy) Kaul, both of Beaver Dam, Elmer Erdman, Cambria, and James (Terri) Kasper, Juneau; one sister-in-law, Laona Kaul, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; one sister in infancy; three sisters-in-law, Judy Dietz, Evelyn Kasper, and Lorraine Erdman, and one brother-in-law, James Kaul.
Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Jean R. Joslin
HORICON - Jean Read Joslin left this life on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.
Mrs. Joslin was born on May 5, 1918, in Detroit, the daughter of Herbert Asher Temple and Ruth Logan Arnold. She was married
on July 17, 1943, to Bernard Orin Joslin.
Mrs. Joslin grew up in the Chicago, area, graduated from Oak Park High School, and attended Lawrence College, Appleton. She and her husband moved to Horicon in 1949. For many years she wrote a weekly column in the Beaver Dam Daily Citizen addressing animal care and the adoption opportunities at the humane society. She wrote many articles published in the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel and various magazines. Her passion for the arts included the symphony, the ballet, classical music and community theater. She cared deeply about nature, the Horicon Marsh, literacy, current events, the Green Bay Packers and the rights of people with physical and mental challenges.
Survivors include three daughters, Toni (Joseph) Bacon, Dallas, Jill (Stephen) Wesstrom, Arlington, Texas, and Lynn Joslin, LaCrosse; six grandchildren, Jason Wilder, Ned Wilder, Ella Moore, Erin Moore, Charlotte Wesstrom, and Margaret Mulvaney; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, and one daughter, Lori Ann Joslin.

Ruth L. Lehner
IRON RIDGE - Ruth L. Lehner, 77, of W3108 Neda Road, Iron Ridge, died on Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20, at 11:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, (Browns Corner), rural Horicon. The Rev. Kenneth H. Roever will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.
Mrs. Lehner was born on April 18, 1924, in the town of Herman, the daughter of Edward and Olga (Retzlaff) Manthey. She was married
on July 28, 1945, to Harold Lehner in LeRoy.
Mrs. Lehner attended the Mayville White Limestone School and Mayville High School. She was employed with the Mayville Shoe Factory, Mayville Canning Factory and Hanni's Cheese Factory. She also farmed with her husband until her retirement in 1980. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and her grandchildren, who called her Grandma Shorty.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Lehner, Iron Ridge; three daughters, Sue (Nick) Persha, Mayville, Bonnie (Richard) Louden, Hustisford, and Cindy (Greg) Krueger, Mayville; four sons, Thomas (Donna) Lehner, Fond du Lac, James (Sue) Lehner, Mayville, Scott (Martha) Lehner, Beaver Dam, and Terry (Patty) Lehner, Madison; one brother, Lloyd Manthey, Mayville; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two step-grandsons; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dale; one brother, and one sister.

Barbara A. Voight
JANESVILLE - Barbara Ann Voight, 72, of Janesville, died on Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Mercy Assisted Care, under the care of HospiceCare Inc.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, at 1:30 p.m., at the Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. The Rev. Ann Spindt will officiate.
Mrs. Voight was born on July 2, 1929, in Scotland. She was married
in 1952 to John Martin Voight of Waupun.
Mrs. Voight was adopted by Hugo and Jessie Friedholdt, Mayville, where she was raised and graduated from Mayville High School in 1947. She received a bachelor's degree in history and teaching from UW-Oshkosh in 1951, and later received a master's degree from UW-Whitewater. She taught at Evansville High School and later for many years at Fort Atkinson High School. She resided in Janesville most of her married
life. She loved English history, and spent a summer in Edinburgh, Scotland, taking history classes. She and her husband loved golf, traveling, music and reading. After retiring, she volunteered at Dean Riverside Clinic. She befriended many and her friends and family will never forget her generosity, her tremendous sense of humor and her love of life.
Survivors include her brother- and sister-in-law, Robert and Joyce Voight; sister- and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Arthur Broadway; sister-in-law, Bonnie Holt; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Martin Voight, in 1985; her parents; one brother, Alan Holt, and parents-in-law, Martin and Dorothy Voight.

Carl J. Petrusha
Carl J. Petrusha, 82, of 130 Webster St., Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at the William S. Middleton Veteran's Hospital, Madison.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 11:30 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic cemetery, Beaver Dam. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post No. 146.
Mr. Petrusha was born on Jan. 19, 1919, in Beaver Dam, the son of Joseph and Anna (Slensky) Petrusha. He was married
on Sept. 15, 1945, to Bernice Kamrath in Beaver Dam.
Mr. Petrusha worked at the U.S. Post Office in Beaver Dam until his retirement. He then worked at Orv and Wally's part-time in the grocery store and garden center. He was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, the Beaver Dam American Legion Post No. 146, Disabled American Veteran's, AARP, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He served his country in the U.S. Army Coast Guard in the Search Line Division in Iceland from 1940 to 1944. He also had campaigns in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center, Beaver Dam. He loved to garden, fish and hunt.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bernice Petrusha, Beaver Dam; one son, Wayne (Amalia) Petrusha, Milwaukee; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Osner, Portage; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Ray, Frank, Stanley, Leo, and Michael, in infancy, and one sister, Cecelia Horgan.

Regina E. Canney
RANDOLPH - Regina E. Canney, 82, of Golden Years, Randolph, died on Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 1:30 p.m., at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Kurtis Mau will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.
Mrs. Canney was born on Feb. 20, 1919, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of George and Anna (Schwartzanholtz) Bauer. She was married
on Dec. 18, 1948, to Ted Canney in Beaver Dam.
Mrs. Canney was a member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.
Survivors include her special and loving niece, Bonnie Bauer, Beaver Dam; one sister, Selma Albert, Beaver Dam; relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Ted, in 1967.

Erna E. Moede
MAYVILLE - Erna E. Moede, 92, of 1091 Horicon St., Mayville, died on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Deerview Meadows Assisted Living, Mayville.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Edward Blonski will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Mayville.
Mrs. Moede was born on Aug. 23, 1909, in Theresa, the daughter of William and Martha (Becker) Mussack. She was married
to Henry Wegner. She was married
on Dec. 5, 1942, to Rudolph Moede.
Mrs. Moede was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, an active member of St. John's Dorcas Society and the former Ladies Aid, and a member of the Mayville Senior Center. Erna's passion for needlework led her to open a store from her home which she enjoyed until 1973. She was known throughout the area for her wonderful afghans and beautiful needlework. She was a member of the Wisconsin Campers Association and the Mayville Fireside Campers. Ma Moede, as everyone called her, made delicious bakery items and was very active in the campers association. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include her husband, Rudolph Moede, Mayville; her children, Roger (Jackie) Schiess, Mayville, Myrna Michaels, Waukesha, Jerry (Diane) Moede, Mayville, Roy (Beth) Moede, Arden N.C., Larry Moede, Donna (Walter) Bushkie, and Loren (Rosemary) Moede, all of Horicon; one sister, Evelyn (Earl) Schmidt, Juneau; one son-in-law, George Heinecke, Horicon; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Myrtle, in infancy, and Ethel, in 1999; six brothers, and two sisters.
