Patricia Johnson
NESHKORO - Patricia Johnson, 71, of Duck Creek Ave., Neshkoro, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 15, at 10:30 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church, Neshkoro. The Rev. Dale Grubba will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Waupun.

Mrs. Johnson was born on Feb. 2, 1930, in Lansing, Mich., the daughter of Nick and Catherine Miller. She was married on May 28, 1949, to Gerald "Jerry" Johnson at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Johnson was a 1947 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She and her husband resided in Waupun for 34 years, where she was employed with Storbeck Hardware and Alto Creamery. She retired in 1983 from the Wisconsin State Prison purchasing department. The couple moved to Neshkoro in 1983 where they resided since. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Neshkoro.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Johnson, Neshkoro; one son, Michael (Linda) Johnson, Waupun; four grandchildren; three great-grandsons; one sister, Doris Doucette, Chesapeake, Va.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Nick, in 1976, and Tom, in 1993; one brother, and eight sisters.

Friends may call on Friday, June 15, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. James Catholic Church, Neshkoro.

The Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

Loretta B. George
RANDOLPH - Loretta B. George, 92, of 502 S. High St., Randolph, formerly of W1020 Highway A, Randolph, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Continental Manor.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m., at the Randolph Ev. Free Church. The Rev. Dr. Lee Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Randolph cemetery.

Mrs. George was born on May 17, 1909, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Herman E. and Grace (Robinson) Selsor. She was married on Aug. 1, 1931, to Herman E. George in Danville, Ill.

Mrs. George was raised in the Danville, Ill. area and also resided in Fairmont, Ill., and Perrysville, Ind., before moving to Randolph in 1959. She was a member of the Randolph Ev. Free Church since 1961. She taught Sunday school for several years and was the church secretary for 10 years. She was formerly employed with Metal Fab for 20 years. She was a member of the Jess Homemakers, the Randolph Garden Club, and the Randolph Women's Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Sam) Shookman, Randolph, and Bonnie (Joe) Woods, Crystal Lake, Ill.; six grandchildren, Chris (Alan) Syens, Sun Prairie; Pam (Jim) Bylsma, Randolph, LuAnn (Doug) Jauregui, Marshfield, Tim (Suzanne) Shookman, Beaver Dam, Kent (Kathy) Woods, Wheaton, Ill., and Steve (Rhonda) Woods, Peru, Ill.; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, J.W. Selsor, Danville, Ill.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, in 1960, and one brother, Robert Selsor.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 16, from noon until the time of service at the Randolph Ev. Free Church.

Destiny M. Chase
Destiny "Bug" Marie Chase, 11, of 126 E. Mackie St., Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Watertown, as the result of an automobile accident.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 15, at 11 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Steve Rovics will officiate. Burial will be in Leipsig cemetery.

Destiny was born on Oct. 26, 1989, in Madison, the daughter of Dean and Helen (Hansen) Chase.

Destiny was a fourth grade student at Dodgeland School in Reeseville.

Survivors include her parents, Dean and Helen Chase, Beaver Dam; one brother, Dean Chase Jr., Mayville; one step-brother, David Langford, Appleton; paternal grandparents, Gladys (Mike) Christiansen, Randolph; maternal grandmother, Helen Hansen, Michigan; two aunts, Patti J. Gentner, Waupun, and Chris Olson, Arcadia; one uncle, Dennis Schoeffel, Little Chute; cousins, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by two aunts, Carol Woehfel and Ester Taylor, and one step-uncle, Rodney Chase.

Friends may call on Friday, June 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Josephine M. Nitschke Schwantes
BURNETT - Josephine M. Nitschke Schwantes, 95, of N7665 Highway 26, Burnett, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, due to a car accident on Highway 26 in the town of Burnett, with her companion, Alvie Lester.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 15, at 6 p.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, on Highway 26, Burnett. The Rev. James Daugherty will officiate. Burial will be in Stone cemetery, Burnett.

Mrs. Schwantes was born on Nov. 3, 1905, in the town of Trenton, the daughter of Edward and Alvina (Beyer) Helbing. She was married in 1926 to Harold Oscar Nitschke. She was later married in 1953, to Hubert "Butch" H. Schwantes.

Mrs. Schwantes was a graduate of the UW-Madison School of Nursing. She was the executive housekeeper at Lakeside Hospital, Beaver Dam, for many years. She was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett, a member of the Ladies Aid of the church, and a member of the Burnett Homemakers.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Alice) Nitschke, Burnett, and Curt (Kay) Nitschke, Mayville; one step-daughter-in-law, Terry Schwantes, Sturgeon Bay; two sons-in-law, Robert Peterson and Don Peachey, both of Burnett; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Nitschke, in 1950; her second husband, Hubert "Butch" Schwantes, in 1954; special friend, Alvie Lester; two daughters, Jane Peachey and Audrey Peterson; father and mother-in-law, Emil and Amanda Nitschke; one step son, Curtis Oscar Schwantes; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Genevive and Robert Schultz; four brothers, Harry, John, Lester and Roy Helbing, and sisters-in-law.

Friends may call on Friday, June 15, from 3 p.m. until the time of service, at the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett, air conditioning fund.

Edwin N. Embertson
JUNEAU - Edwin N. Embertson, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Juneau.

A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 16, at the Swiss United Church of Christ cemetery, New Glarus.

Mr. Embertson was born on April 3, 1916, in Washburn, the son of John and Gusta Embertson. He was married on June 18, 1943, to Marjorie Dillon.

Mr. Embertson received his bachelor of science in education from UW-Oshkosh, his masters in education from UW-Madison, and a masters in safety engineering from the University of Memphis in Tennessee. He was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in Washburn, and trained in San Antonio, Texas. He was stationed in Ipswich, England, during World War II. He was discharged as a staff sergeant in 1945. He was a teacher and principal for 14 years in Three Lakes, followed by three years as superintendent of schools in New Glarus. He then went to work for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in Madison for 16 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, the VFW, the Lions Club and a lifetime member of the NEA.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Embertson; one brother, Ellsworth Embertson, King; one sister, Evelyn Bayliss, Ashland; six children, Kay (Chuck) Ingwell, San Jose, Calif., Bob (Becky) Embertson, Juneau, Sharon (Will) Suralski, Huntley, Mont., Jon (Bonnie) Embertson, Brown Deer, Mary Embertson, Madison, and Barbara (Mark Breitenbach) Dillon, Huntley, Mont; one son-in-law, Roger Janssen, Billings, Mont.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Diane Janssen; one son, Richard Embertson; two sisters, Lillian Fandek and Gertrude Olson, and three brothers, Nor Embertson, Harold Embertson and Idor Embertson.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 517 Segoe Road, Madison, WI 53705.

Alvie Lester
BURNETT - Alvie "Al" Lester, 79, of N7770 Highway 26, Burnett, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, due to a car accident on Highway 26 in the town of Burnett, with his companion, Josephine Schwantes.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 15, at 6 p.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, on Highway 26, Burnett. The Rev. James Daugherty will officiate. Cremation will take place at a later date. Graveside military rites will be conducted at the church by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post No. 146.

Mr. Lester was born on April 17, 1922, in Lake City, Ark., the son of Charles and Mattie (Greer) Lester.

Mr. Lester had been a plant engineer at American Industrial Service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Theater.

Survivors include three children, Michael Lester, Delevan, Scott (Marlene) Lester, Greenfield, and Lisa (Jay) Eschrich, New Berlin; three brothers, Ardell "Pete" (Bernice) Lester, West Allis, Ken (Marvell) Lester, Milwaukee, and Norman (Pat) Lester, Spring Prairie; one sister, Waver Hawkins, Malden, Mo.; four grandchildren, Vince and Matt Lester, and Jayson and Maddie Eschrich; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, and one sister.

Friends may call on Friday, June 15, from 3 p.m. until the time of service at the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett.

Edgar V. Ramseur
Edgar V. Ramseur, 84, of 211 Roller Ave., Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, June 14, 2001, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 19, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Beaver Dam American Legion Post No. 146.

Mr. Ramseur was born on Sept. 2, 1916, in Chester, Va., the son of Kansas and Lillian (Zastrow) Ramseur. He was married on Oct. 16, 1948, to Irene Radtke in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Ramseur was a foreman at Monarch Range Co. for many years. He was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, where he was a district elder, usher and a member on the counting committee. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in New Guinea. He was known for his outstanding ability as a pitcher in fast pitch softball. He was a member of the Beaver Dam VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Ramseur, Beaver Dam; one son, David (Connie) Ramseur, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law, Martin Powers, Columbus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Christine, in 1985.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 19, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Althea Gubbels
LENA - Althea Gubbels, 63, of Lena, died on Friday, June 15, 2001, at San Luis Manor, Green Bay, following an illness with Alzheimer's disease.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 19, at 10 a.m., at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Oconto Falls. The Rev. Harold Beerntsen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Gubbels was born on April 21, 1938, in Crofton, Neb., the daughter of Arnold and Alma (Thunker) Bruns. She was married on Sept. 16, 1957, to Melvin Gubbels in Nebraska.

Mrs. Gubbels grew up in Crofton, Neb., where she graduated from high school. Shortly after marriage, the couple moved to the Beaver Dam area where she worked at Crane Drug Store and the American National Bank. While living in Beaver Dam, she was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Parish. In 1986 they moved to Algoma where she was employed by Wisconsin Label. The couple retired to the Oconto Falls area in 1996. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Oconto Falls. She enjoyed card playing, dancing, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Melvin Gubbels, Oconto Falls; three children, Barbara Stegner and Gary (Brenda) Gubbels, both of Beaver Dam, and Paul (Sue) Gubbels, Abrams; four grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Holbus, Stacy Stegner, and Sadie and Garret Gubbels; three step-grandchildren, Noah, Jennah and Hannah Aplin; one great-grandson, Dillon Andrew Holbus; one brother, Marvin (Rose) Bruns, Beaver Dam; one sister, Jeanette "Bunny" (Ken) Ward, Hungtindon, Tenn.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Russell, in 1982, and an infant brother, James "Butch" Bruns.

Friends may call on Monday, June 18, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Jones Funeral Service, 107 S. Franklin St., Oconto Falls, and on Tuesday, June 19, from 8 a.m. until the time of service at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Leona C. Posthuma
Leona C. Posthuma, 80, of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, June 15, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 20, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Posthuma was born on Sept. 6, 1920, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Fred and Magdalen (LaBuy) Young. She was married on July 2, 1960, to Henry Posthuma in Chicago, Ill.

Mrs. Posthuma was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam. She was a 1938 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She worked at Monarch Range Co. for 16 years before retiring in 1960. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, and the Beaver Dam Bowling Association.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Margaret (Henry) White Jr., Fox Lake, Winnetta Braaksma, Randolph, and Evelyn (Jerry) Lively, Madison; two step-grandsons, Ryan Metzdorf, Horicon, and Scott Metzdorf, Texas; one step-great-granddaughter; one niece, Carol Wetzel, Fox Lake; one nephew, Richard Young, Washington; close friend, Bonnie Straseskie, Beaver Dam; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry, on April 9, 1999; three brothers, Fred Jr., Norbert and John Young, and three sisters, Delores, Genevieve and infant Rosalind Young.

Friends may call on Wednesday, June 20, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Elmer Schaumburg
FOX LAKE - Elmer Schaumburg, 91, of W10229 Delbern Acres, Fox Lake, died on Monday, June 18, 2001, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 20, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Geoffrey Hoy will officiate. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.

Mr. Schaumburg was born on March 7, 1910, in the township of LeRoy, the son of Julius and Della (Jacquot) Schaumburg. He was married on Nov. 10, 1932, to Leona Franke in Waukegan, Ill.

Mr. Schaumburg farmed in the township of LeRoy. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Steer, Mayville; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, in 1996; three brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Wednesday, June 20, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.
