Margery LaWare
SEA ISLAND, Ga. - Margery Ninabuck LaWare, 71, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, Brunswick, Ga.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m., at Hillside cemetery, Columbus. The Rev. Ann Friedley will officiate.
Mrs. LaWare was a native of Columbus and a graduate of UW-Madison. She had been a resident of Sea Island for the past six years. She was a member of the Sea Island Garden Group, Ocean Forest Golf Club, the Country Club in Brookline, Mass., and of St. Simons Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, John P. LaWare, Sea Island, Ga. , and Brookline, Mass.; one son, John Kevin LaWare, Appleton; one daughter, Margaret Ann LaWare, Salem, Mass.; one brother, William Ninabuck, Hilton Head, S.C.; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Edward W. Thayer
WAUPUN - Edward W. Thayer, 14, of Waupun, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 14, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Norman Haan will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun.
Mr. Thayer was born on Dec. 5, 1986, in Harrisburg, Pa., the son of Donald and Sherry Thayer Jr.
Mr. Thayer attended Central Wisconsin Christian Schools and Waupun Middle School. He enjoyed soccer, hunting, fishing, the outdoors and computers. He was a member of Paxton United Methodist Church, Harrisburg, Pa.
Survivors include his parents, Donald and Sherry Thayer Jr., Waupun; one brother, Fred Thayer, Waupun; paternal grandmother, Geraldine Thayer, Dauphin, Pa.; aunts, Kathy (Tim) Smith, Duncannon, Pa., Diane (Randy) Gusler, Orrstown, Pa., and Nancy (John) Tallman, Dauphin, Pa.; uncles, Scott Peters, Meriden, Conn., and Dwayne Peters, Fayetteville, N.C.; great-grandmother, Mary Deckard, Newport, Pa.; great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald F. Thayer Sr., on March 5, 2001, and his maternal grandparents, Loyetta and Albert Peters Jr.
Friends may call on Friday, April 13, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Saturday, April 14, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun.

Clarence Boersma
FOX LAKE - Clarence Boersma, 81, of Fox Lake, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Continental Manor, Randolph.
The funeral will be held on Monday, April 16, at 11 a.m., at the Friesland Reformed Church. The Rev. Ronald Van Der Werff will officiate. Burial will be in Friesland cemetery, with full military rites.
Mr. Boersma was born on Jan. 22, 1920, in Worth, Ill., the son of Fred and Carrie (Smit) Boersma. He was married
on May 10, 1946, to Faith E. Spitler in Mount Green, Ill., at the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Dawn Johnson, Westby; five sons, Fred Boersma, Madison, Sid Boersma, Stoughton, Ted Boersma, Waupun, Howard Boersma, Cottage Grove, and Tim Boersma, Wild Rose; one brother, Sid Boersma, Chicago, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faith, in 1968; one son, Allen; one grandson; six sisters, and two brothers.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 15, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, and on Monday, April 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Friesland Reformed Church.
Christopher W. W. Apple
FITCHBURG - Christopher William Woolpy Apple, 16, of Fitchburg, formerly of Columbus, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2001.
The funeral will be held on Friday, April 13, at 7 p.m., at the Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison. The Rev. Jerry Woolpy will officiate.
Mr. Apple was born on Aug. 20, 1984, in Richmond, Ind., the son of Jerry and Wendy (Wooply) Apple.
Mr. Apple enjoyed reading and writing, and was active in basketball, tennis and golf. He was a great friend to everyone who knew him, and he loved animals. He attended Wayland Academy, Beaver Dam.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Wendy Apple, Fitchburg; one sister, Katherine Apple, attending Beloit College; maternal grandparents, Carol (Dan) Meerson, Grantham, N.H., and Jerry (Patty) Woolpy, Minocqua; paternal grandparents, Gary (Sally) Apple, Connersville, Ind., Judy Apple, Richmond, Ind., and Mary Apple, Lebanon, Ind.; great-grandparents, Rose Woolpy, Chicago, Ill., and Mel Apple, Richmond, Ind.; aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

Lenora E. Stark
COLUMBUS - Lenora E. Stark, 75, a resident of the Columbus Center, formerly of Randolph and the town of Portland, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at the Center.
The funeral will be held on Monday, April 16, at 2 p.m., at First United Church of Christ, Reeseville. The Rev. Susan Schneider-Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.
Mrs. Stark was born on July 28, 1925, in Ashippun, the daughter of Albert and Ida (Fredrick) Zulegar. She was married
on Oct. 4, 1947, to Elmer "Bud" Stark in Ashippun.
Mrs. Stark was employed by Perry Printers, Waterloo, for 21 years. She was a long time resident of the town of Portland, where she was a member of First United Church of Christ and it's Ladies Aid in Reeseville. She was a member and past president of the Columbus-Fall River VFW Post No. 8090 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son-in-law, Dale Mielke, Reeseville; three grandchildren, Brenda Schaalma, Juneau, Lynn (Steven) Schwandt, and Thomas Mielke, both of Reeseville; one step-granddaughter, Bruittany Mielke, Reeseville; three sisters, Gertrude Schultz, Juneau, Esther (Clarence) Shuett, Ashippun, and Betty (Donald) Hilker, Greenville, S.C.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer "Bud", in 1981; one daughter, Sandra Mielke, in 1988; three sisters, and six brothers.

Darlene B. Plonsky
WAUPUN - Darlene B. Plonsky, 54, of 815 Grace St., Waupun, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee.
A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, April 16, at 7 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Richard Lawrence will officiate.
Mrs. Plonsky was born on Dec. 16, 1946, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Wilmer and Betty (Walters) Benzel. She was married
on April 20, 1962, to Gerald Plonsky at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.
Mrs. Plonsky was a Fond du Lac area resident most of her life, and moved to Waupun with her husband about 10 years ago. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun. She attended MPTI and became a nurses' assistant, formerly employed with the Fond du Lac Mental Health Center. She was also employed at Ben Franklin Craft Center, Waupun High School cafeteria food service, and was a dedicated volunteer with the Waupun Hockey Association and Community Center.
Mrs. Plonsky and her husband owned and operated the Plonsky Game Farm, Fond du Lac, where they raised mink and foxes for their fur. She was active with wooden crafts, especially angels, which she had on display at various fairs and bazaar shops. She loved angels, bird watching, gardening and flowers, but her greatest love was her family.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Gerald Plonsky, Waupun; one daughter, Christine (Mark) Binsfeld, Texas; three sons, Mark (Kim) Plonsky, Fond du Lac, Michael (Angela) Plonsky, and Anthony Plonsky, both of Waupun; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Rebecca, Buddy, Heidi, Jacob, Zachary and Colton; one brother, Jerry (Bonnie) Benzel, North Fond du Lac; three sisters, Sue (Ralph) Malo, Fond du Lac, Pat (Milford) Hopp, Waupun, and Debbie (Larry) Conger, Fond du Lac; her parents, Wilmer and Betty Benzel; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Lela Markhardt
FALL RIVER - Lela Markhardt, 87, of 650 N. St. Main, Fall River, died on Friday, April 13, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus. The Rev. Robert V. Moberg will officiate. Burial will be in Hampden cemetery, town of Hampden
Mrs. Markhardt was born on May 12, 1913, in the town of Fountain Prairie, the daughter of August and Emma (Mielke) Raether. She was married
to Arnold G. Markhardt on Dec. 19, 1942, in Fall River.
Survivors include three sons, Gary (Marlene), Barneveld, Tony (Mary), Fall River, and Kenny, Madison; three daughters, Jean (Greg) Barnett, Juneau, Jenny Markhardt, Beaver Dam, and Linda (Jeff) Cunningham, Cambria; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Everett Raether, Penney Farms, Fla.; relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold in 1988; and one sister, Ivah Huggett.

Muriel Stahr
RANDOLPH - Muriel Stahr, 88, of Randolph, died on Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Continental Manor, Randolph.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 18, at 10 a.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fox Lake. The Rev. David Nottling will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m., in Wisconsin Memorial Park cemetery, Milwaukee.
Mrs. Stahr was born on July 15, 1912, in Fairwater, the daughter of Frank and Amanda (Grams) Pollesch. She was married
on Aug. 28, 1968, to Fred Moul. She was blessed to find love a second time and was married
on Nov. 18, 1991, to Donald Stahr at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fox Lake.
Mrs. Stahr attended public schools and graduated from Cambria High School in 1930. She was a devoted member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fox Lake. She will be sadly missed and mourned by her family and friends.
Survivors include four sisters, Gertrude Obermeyer, Milwaukee, Miranda Quade, Markesan, Dorothy Krome, Milwaukee, and Arlene Love, Fond du Lac; three brothers, Louis Pollesch, Markesan, George (Betty) Pollesch, Manchester, and Eugene (Alice) Pollesch, Amberwood, Fla.; three step-daughters, Judy, Janine and Donna; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Fred, on May 1, 1990; her second husband, Donald, on June 18, 1995; two brothers, Robert and Alfred, and two sisters, Arvella Fiegel and Bernice Podliska.

Hazel S. Engmann
MILWAUKEE - Hazel S. Engmann, 83, of 3971 N. 71st St., Milwaukee, died on Friday, April 13, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital, Milwaukee.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 11 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. The Rev. Steven Voight will officiate. Burial will be in Union cemetery, Theresa.
Mrs. Engmann was born on Feb. 6, 1918, in Lomira, the daughter of John and Caroline (Becker) Brinkman. She was married
on Nov. 21, 1936 to John A. Engmann in the township of Wayne.
Mrs. Engmann was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church, Milwaukee.
Survivors include her husband, John Engmann, Milwaukee, three children, Dennis (Pat) Engmann, West Bend, Bruce (Charlotte) Engmann, Menomonee Falls, and Sandra (Jim) Perkins, Whitewater; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, and three sisters.

Anita A. Winter
WATERTOWN - Anita A. Winter, 82, of 1020 Hill St., Watertown, died on Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Marquardt Memorial Manor.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 18, at 2 p.m., at Bethany Chapel in Marquardt Memorial Manor. The Revs. Karl Walther, St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown, and Richard Pagels, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Farmington, will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran cemetery, Watertown.
Mrs. White was born on July 29, 1918, in the town of Lebanon, the daughter of Otto and Alvina (Hafmeister) Witte. She was married
on Dec. 2, 1939, to August Winter on the Witte farm, town of Lebanon.
Mrs. White was a homemaker. She and her husband lived on a farm in Farmington until 1974, and after his death, she moved into an apartment in Watertown. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting, needlework and loved to read. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Farmington, and the past two years became a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown. She was a former member of the Wethonkitha Club, AARP Chapter 3713, Watertown, and a volunteer at Marquardt Memorial Manor.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeanette (William) Sveum, Fitchburg; one brother, Victor (Hildegarde) Witte, Watertown; two granddaughters, Megan and Sara Sveum; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, August, on April 3, 1974; one daughter, Carol, and one brother, Harvey.

Alma Ries
MAYVILLE - Alma Bonack Ries, 90, formerly of Lomira, died on Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira. The Rev. Vincent Holubowicz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrews cemetery, LeRoy.
Mrs. Ries was born on Sept. 9, 1910, in Waterloo, the daughter of Bernard and Amelia (Leschinger) Hoard. She was married
on July 8, 1930 to Edgar Bonack in LeRoy. She was married
on Aug. 27, 1969 to Arnold Ries in Mayville.
Mrs. Ries was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira and a member of the Ladies Sodality, St. Mary's Mayville. She worked at Rilling-Endlich, Mayville, farmed with her husband, Edgar, and ran the cafe at Midwest Livestock, Lomira, for over 30 years with her husband Arnold. She loved her flowers and to sing songs in German.
Survivors include three children, Dolores (Rich) Mayer, Mayville, Dick (Judy) Bonack, Waupun, and Dewey (Tammie) Bonack, Glidden; one step-son, Ken (special friend Marie Lorrigan) Ries, Lakewood; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Lapp, Waukesha, and Loretta; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, and six brothers and sisters.
