Nelson N. Starks
STOUGHTON - Nelson N. "Nellie" Starks, 84, of 1940 Jackson St., Stoughton, formerly of Columbus, died on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at his home.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 10:30 a.m., at the North Deerfield cemetery, Hancock.

Mr. Starks was born on March 5, 1916, in Hancock, the son of Ora and Iana (Lamb) Starks. He was married on Aug. 17, 1939, to Laura Penrod in Dubuque, Iowa.

Mr. Starks was a Columbus area farmer for 50 years and was employed by Alto Milk Producers.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth (Daniel) Wiese, and Wanda "Wendy" (John) Hougan, both of Stoughton; one son, Robert, (Julie Stohr) Starks, Viroqua; seven grandchildren, Timothy (Donna) Wiese, Steven (Georgia) Wiese, Nathan Starks, Nicole Starks, Julia (John) Kimble, Joseph Starks and Ella Hougan; two brothers, Ross Starks, Phoenix, Ariz., Walter (Marianne) Starks, Berlin; four sisters, Velma (John) Borkenhagen, Beloit, Meta Bohn, Ripon, Zita Shippe, Oregon, and Ilona (Russell) Clark, Manteno, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Bina Starks, Lake Tomahawk; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura, in September of 2000; one son, Ross; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Wiese; two sisters, Zona Starks and April Zuelke; and two brothers, Curtis and Bert.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus.

Beth Mueller Lane
MOSINEE - Beth Mueller Lane, 52, of 2022 Springbrook Road, Mosinee, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at House of Doves, Marshfield.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Mrs. Lane was born on March 6, 1948, the daughter of Albert and Dorothea (Volkmann) Mueller. She was married on Sept. 18, 2000,to Terry Lane.

Mrs. Lane was a 1966 graduate Beaver Dam High School. She was a wildlife technician for Mead Wild Life for 22 years.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Lane; one brother, Ross (Lois) Mueller, Appleton; one sister, Sunny (Monrico) Lehnert, Greeley, Colo.; three aunts, Anita (Robert) Glockner, Massachusetts, Caryl Goetz, Beaver Dam, and Beth Dezer, Massachusetts; nieces and nephews.

Carol A. Jahn
Carol A. Jahn, 57, of N8224 Kay Drive, Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Hillside Manor.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Dec 5, at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Donald Younger will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Ms. Jahn was born on March 27, 1943, in Washington County, the daughter of William and Loretta (Heinecke) Jung.

Ms. Jahn was a manager at Walker's Family Restaurant for 27 years. She was a member of Faith Bible Church, Waupun.

Survivors include special friend, Denny McCluskey, Beaver Dam; her children, Susan (Steve) Bruesch, Michael (Missy) Jahn, Sherri (Paul) VandeStreek, Mark (Peggy) Jahn and John Jahn, all of Waupun, and David Jahn, Ripon; two sisters, Delores (Herman) Kohlmann, Mayville, and Ruth (David) Kohlmann, North Fond du Lac; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 4 p.m. until the time of service, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Margaret M. Pfarrer
Margaret M. Pfarrer, 87, of Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Dec 5, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Dan Massie will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

Mrs. Pfarrer was born on Feb. 18, 1913, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Bernard A. and Mary A. (Dietz) Belling. She was married to Vernon J. Wagener. She was married on April 21, 1950, to Walter F. Pfarrer.

Mrs. Pfarrer was employed at Monarch Range Co. and was secretary/treasurer of Monarch Employees Credit Union. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam and a member of the Catholic Women. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. She will always be in our hearts.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Pfarrer, Beaver Dam; her children, Richard V. (Georgine) Wagener, Madison, Marverne A. (George) (Wagener) Paitrick, Beaver Dam, Dennis Pfarrer, Stoughton, Valorie (Pfarrer) Boczkiewicz, Mukwonago, and one step-son, Thomas Pfarrer, Columbus; one sister, Gerry (Don) Bartell, Beaver Dam; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Vernon; one brother; two sisters; one grandson, Dale Paitrick; and one step-son, Walter Pfarrer.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at S. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Diane M. Calkins
Diane M. Calkins, 56, of Beaver Dam, was born to eternity on Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in Madison.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m., at Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Gerry Harrison officiated. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Ms. Calkins was born to this world on Aug. 6, 1944, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Leroy and Elsie (Hasenfuss) Calkins.

Ms. Calkins was a loving and devoted mother, and grandmother, to her two daughters, granddaughters and soon to be third grandchild. She was the Unit Chairperson of the Dodge County Salvation Army, chaired the Beaver Dam Red Kettle Christmas Campaign and was the chairperson of the Beaver Dam Easter Dinner. She was a former member of the Beaver Dam Hospital Auxiliary and a member of Dodge County Friends of Animals.

Survivors include two daughters, Maryanne (Doug) Fulton, Ludington, Mich., and Mechelle Schears, Beaver Dam; two granddaughters, Kayla and Cassandra, Schears; one sister, Delores Alexander, Waupun; one brother, David (Diane) Calkins, Cleves, Ohio; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends called on Monday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

Roy Ott
JUNEAU - Roy Ott, 67, of Juneau, died on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at his home.

Military graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m., at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial cemetery, Union Grove.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Emilija Stradins
HORICON - Emilija Stradins, 95, of Horicon, died on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m., at the Mach Funeral Chapel, 31 E. Division St., Fond du Lac. The Rev. Dr. Janis Kinens will officiate.

Mrs. Stradins was born on Aug. 1, 1905, in Varnava County, Latvia, the daughter of Martins and Olga (Kapels) Lejins. She was married in 1930 to Janis Stradins.

Mrs. Stradins was a member of Martin Luther Latvian Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.

Survivors include one son, Karlis (Ausma) Stradins, Horicon; three grandchildren, Linards (Christine) Stradins, Menomonee, Andris Stradins, Racine, and Ingrid (James) Herrick, Beaver Dam; five great-grandchildren, Arielle Kuehl, and Ian, Emilija, Kenneth, and Karina Stradins; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Janis, in 1989; three sisters; and one brother.

Friends may call on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 3 p.m. until the time of service, at the Mach Funeral Chapel, Fond du Lac.

Marian V. Boeck
IRON RIDGE - Marian V. Boeck, 77, of 109 W. Pleasant St., Iron Ridge, died on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m., at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church Iron Ridge. The Rev. Larry Mose will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew's cemetery, Iron Ridge.

Mrs. Boeck was born on Nov. 10, 1923, in Neda, the daughter of Harold and Elda (Ferge) Polzen. She was married on Nov. 11, 1944, to Marvin Boeck in Mayville.

Mrs. Boeck was a 1941 graduate of Mayville High School. She was employed by the former Herman Mutual Insurance Co., Iron Ridge, later Midland Union Insurance Co., Juneau. She was a member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge and a member of the Iron Ridge Fireman's Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Robert (Melanie) Boeck, Iron Ridge; one sister, Margaret (Hubert) Polzen, Mayville; two brothers, Earl (Joanne) Polzen, Mayville, and Gerald (Gaye) Polzen, Beaver Dam; three grandchildren, Jason, Brett and Brittanie Boeck, all of Iron Ridge; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marvin, in 1988.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 3 to 6 p.m., at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge.

Lawrence H. Keegstra
Lawrence H. Keegstra, 68, of 116 Lakecrest Drive, Apt. 214, Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Gary Keegstra, OFM Cap., will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic cemetery, Beaver Dam. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post No. 146 of Beaver Dam.

Mr. Keegstra was born on Feb. 28, 1932, in Randolph, the son of Gerrit and Effie (Posthuma) Keegstra. He was married on Oct. 23, 1954, to Mary Whitford in Malden, Mass.

Mr. Keegstra was employed at Monarch Range Co., Beaver Dam. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and was a volunteer firefighter in Beaver Dam for 31 years, serving as lieutenant.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Keegstra, Beaver Dam; one son, Rev. Gary Keegstra, OFM Cap., Madison; two daughters, Jean (Alan) Cramer, Waukesha, and Julie (Bart) Radke, Beaver Dam; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Lorrie Keegstra.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Hilmer F. Uttech
JUNEAU - Hilmer E. Uttech, 83, of 251 E. Oak St., Juneau, died on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Clearview Long Term and Rehabilitation Center, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Rev. Douglas Westenberg will officiate. Burial will be in Juneau City cemetery.

Mr. Uttech was born on Feb. 16, 1917, in Watertown, the son of Frank and Irma (Nickels) Uttech. He was married on June 29, 1957, to Avis Kuntz at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

Mr. Uttech was a 1935 graduate of Watertown High School. He attended UW-Madison and was an accountant in the dairy industry in the Watertown, Juneau, Chicago and Milwaukee areas all his life. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. He loved to garden and was involved in experimental rose gardening. He also enjoyed reading.

Survivors include his wife, Avis Uttech, Juneau; one daughter, Louise Baumgart, Juneau; two sons, Charles (Mary Jane) Uttech, Marathon, N.Y., and Frederick (Peggy) Uttech, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Eugenia Uttech, Watertown; three brothers, Frank (Elda) Uttech, West Bend, and Walter (Ruth) Uttech, and Harold Uttech, both of Watertown; one sister-in-law, Esther Uttech, Watertown; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter; one son, John Uttech; one brother, Martin Uttech; three sisters, Ruth Uttech, Gertrude Mundt, and Elizabeth Simonsen; and one son-in-law, Rev. John Baumgart.

Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 8, from noon until the time of service, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon, is serving the family.

Eric W. Berggren
HORICON - Eric W. Berggren, 88, of 400 S. Hubbard St., Horicon, died on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. The Rev. Samuel Jackson will officiate. Burial will be on Friday, Dec 8, at 10 a.m., in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon. Graveside military services will be conducted by the Horicon American Legion Post No. 157.

Mr. Berggren was born on April 9, 1912, in Horicon, the son of Fred and Marie (Ostrom) Berggren. He was married on Jan. 30, 1937, to Margaret Koenitzer in Juneau.

Mr. Berggren was a graduate of Horicon High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the European theater. He was employed by Marlin Electric for many years, until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon and a member of the Horicon American Legion Post No. 157.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Berggren, Horicon; one son, David (Sue) Berggren, Horicon; one daughter, Mary Aumann, Horicon; six grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Jennifer and Amy Aumann, and Brian and Michael Berggren; one sister, Esther Zarndt, Horicon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gestern Ostrom; two sisters, Martha Bach and Janet Wendt; and one son-in-law, Joseph Aumann.

Friends may call on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon, or the Alzheimer's Chapter of Dodge County.
