Lawrence E. Winter
Lawrence E. "Larry" Winter, 80, of 412, Louden Ave, Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Philip Heyer will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Winter was born on Feb.. 23, 1920, in Mackford Prairie, Green Lake County, the son of Emil and Martha (Helmer) Winter. He was married on Oct. 12, 1940, to Delores Backhaus at First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Winter was a 1937 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He retired from John Deere in 1980, after 30 years of employment. He served as a radio operator in the Army Air Force in World War II, in the South Pacific. He was the former recording secretary of the I.A.M. and was a current member of the Fox Lake Golf Course.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Delores Winter, Beaver Dam; two loving daughters, Sharon Mallon, Beaver Dam, and Barbara (William "Bill") Fehling, Waunakee; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Karen) Fehling, De Pere, Jill Marie (Bob) Gates, Sun Prairie, Robin Mallon, Greenfield, and Robert (Jana) Mallon, Burnett; two great-grandchildren, Robert Jeffrey "R.J." Fehling, and Haley Rose Fehling, both of De Pere; two brothers, Marvin (Marilyn) Winter, Beaver Dam, and Harvey Winter, California; two sisters, Doris Klatt, and Viola (Paul) Hoffman, both of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister-in-law, Elaine Winter; and one brother-in-law, Herbert Klatt.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam

John G. DeVries
WAUPUN John G. DeVries, 81, of Waupun, died on Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at 11 a.m., at First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Norman Haan will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton. American Legion Post No. 210 will provide military honors.

Mr. DeVries was born on July 28, 1919, in Randolph, the son of Geram and Martha (Medema) DeVries. He was married on Aug. 16, 1940, to Alice Kikkert in Randolph.

Mr. DeVries worked at the state of Wisconsin power plant for 29 years and retired in 1983. He was a member of the U.S. Army and fought in World War II. He was also a member of First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun.

Survivors include his wife, Alice DeVries, Waupun; his mother, Martha DeVries, Waupun; four sons, Gordon (Judy) DeVries, Marathon, Fla., Dennis (Kathy) DeVries, Long Key, Fla., Jim (Ruth) DeVries, Waupun, and John (Tami) DeVries, Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ted (Marion) DeVries, George (Julie) DeVries, Melvin (Janet) DeVries, and Kenneth (Evelyn) DeVries, all of Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Home in Waupun, in John's name.

Ellen M. Shuart
WAUPUN - Ellen M. Shuart, a resident of the Christian Home, Waupun, died on Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, on her 92nd birthday.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Doris Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in Brandon cemetery.

Miss Shuart was born on Oct. 16, 1908, in Brandon, the daughter of Dr. Charles Day and Ellen (Maine) Shuart.

Miss Shuart was a graduate of Lawrence College, Appleton, and did graduate work at the UW-Madison and the University of Chicago. She taught English and journalism at Oak Park High School, Oak Park, Ill. After retiring, she returned to her childhood home in Waupun, and spent many years gardening, reading and working on her novel "Clemantine." Ellen was proud of her Irish background and very interested in her heritage. She was very fond of her stepmother, Ethel Halsey. She was a member of Waupun United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Her mother died at her birth.

Friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service, at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home.

David R. Drinkwine
WAUPUN - David R. Drinkwine, 39, of Waupun, died on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, in Waupun.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m., at Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Julie Reinke will officiate.

Mr. Drinkwine was born on Dec. 23, 1960, in Kenosha, the son of Robert and Phyllis (Heckel) Drinkwine. He was married to Dawn Hove in Kenosha.

Mr. Drinkwine was raised in the Kenosha area and recently enjoyed living in Texas. He enjoyed motorcycles and rebuilding them. He loved sports, especially handball, and was a Dallas Cowboys football fan. He loved to read and was always wanting to learn more. He was a perfectionist and he died with dignity and is now enjoying his freedom.

Survivors include one son, Jason Drinkwine; two sisters, Diane (Rex) Adams, and Debbie Fenn; his parents, Robert and Phyllis Drinkwine; numerous relatives, friends, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Dawn.

Friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun.

Margaret M. Braeker
Margaret M. Braeker, 93, a resident of Hillside Manor, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Braeker was born on June 10, 1907, in the town of Beaver Dam, the daughter of Joseph P. and Catherine A. (Stegner) Hammer. She was married on Oct. 25, 1930, to Ronald F. Braeker in Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Braeker lived in the Beaver Dam area all of her life. She worked at Woolworths, was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, the Daughters of Isabella and Christian Mothers.

Survivors include one son, Richard (Ellie) Braeker, Menomonee Falls; two grandchildren, Steven Braeker, Menomonee Falls, and Cheryl (John) Wenszell, Lake Villa, Ill.; two great-granddaughters, Christie and Tricia Wenszell; one sister, Helen Hughes, Beaver Dam; one brother, Jim (Bev) Hammer, Beaver Dam; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald, in 1990; one granddaughter, Susan Braeker; and brothers and sisters.

Friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Albert Wegner
CAMBRIA/WAUTOMA - Albert Wegner, 92, of Wautoma, formerly of Cambria, died on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at the Wild Rose Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria. The Rev. Julie WaterDu will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery, town of Scott.

Mr. Wegner was born on Sept. 25, 1908, in the town of Courtland, the son of August and Otillia (Rade) Wegner. He was married on Sept. 15, 1934, to Thelma "Jean" Hill.

Mr. Wegner was raised on the family farm in the town of Courtland and attended the local Rust Community Country School. He helped his family with the farm until taking a job as a farm hand in the town of Scott area. While working in that area, he met his future bride. Following their marriage, they lived in the town of Scott until moving back to the town of Courtland to run the family farm. The couple farmed the family homestead for 40 years, retired in 1979, and moved to Wautoma to be near their daughter.

He was a Christian man who was dedicated to his farm and family. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Cambria, and active with the senior citizens of Wautoma/Waushara.

Mr. Wegner will be sadly missed and mourned by his daughter, Anita (Lawrence) Mielke, Wautoma; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Leona Marquardt, Fox Lake; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma "Jean" on April 22, 1986; one daughter, Charlene; three sisters; and two brothers.

Friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria.

Keith D. Pierce
TEMPE, ARIZ. - Keith D. Pierce, 76, of Tempe, Ariz., died on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, in Tempe.

The funeral was held on Thursday, Oct. 19, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Tempe, Ariz.

Mr. Pierce was born on Nov. 6, 1923, in Beaver Dam, the son of Clarence and Fredricka (Hammond) Pierce. He was married to Mary Hron.

Mr. Pierce was employed as a brake press operator. He was associated with the Boy Scouts for the past 50 years and achieved the status of being the highest ranking Boy Scout leader in Arizona. He was a Navy veteran, having served in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; one daughter, Diane Fitton, Washington; two sons, James Michael Pierce, Beaver Dam, and Donald Gene Pierce, Tempe, Ariz.; one brother, Myron Pierce, Washington; seven grandchildren; relatives and friends.

Friends called on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Carr- Tenney Chapel, Tempe, Ariz.

The Carr-Tenney Mortuary, Tempe, Ariz., served the family.

William J. Gorman Sr.
William J. Gorman Sr., 92, a resident of the Beaver Dam Care Center, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at the care center.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Masse will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, town of Beaver Dam.

Mr. Gorman was born on Feb. 15, 1908, in Madison, the son of Thomas and Jean (Gilmore) Gorman. He was married on April 30, 1930, to Margaret Simon in Madison.

Mr. Gorman was a resident of Beaver Dam since 1945. He worked at Scanlon Mowers, Madison, prior to moving to Beaver Dam, and then worked at the Monarch Range Company as a custodial/maintenance worker until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include two sons, William J. (Judith) Gorman Jr., and Gerald (Delores) Gorman, both of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, on April 27, 1999; four sisters, Wilma, Leona, Regis and Marcella; and six brothers, Byron, Arthur, Ellis, Victor, Thomas and Eugene.

Friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 1 p.m. until the time of service, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Richard A. Langland
Richard A. "Rick" Langland, 48, of Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m., at New Testament Baptist Church, Columbus. The Rev. Todd Werner will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Langland was born on April 28, 1952, in Blue Island, Ill.

Mr. Langland was employed by Northland Buildings Inc., Eau Claire. He was a member of New Testament Baptist Church, Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Langland, Beaver Dam; two daughters, Sarah Langland and Lisa Langland, both of Beaver Dam; one son, Steve Dong, Chicago; mother, Irene Langland, Blue Island, Ill.; one sister, Pat Mooi, Plainfield, Ill.; father-in-law, Pastor Grant Rice, Sister Bay; mother-in-law, Charleen Rice, Sister Bay; two brothers-in-law, Grant (Carol) Rice Jr., College Station, Texas, and Jonathon (Donna) Rice, Rockvale, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Patricia (William) Siderius, Chicago; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert; and mother-in-law, Joyce Rice.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at New Testament Baptist Church, Columbus.

Richard Lubahn
WAUPUN - Richard Lubahn, 58, of Waupun, died on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Hospice Home, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m., at Alto Reformed Church, Alto. The Revs. Ted Medema and Richard Lindeman will officiate. Burial will be in Alto cemetery.

Mr. Lubahn was born on July 29, 1942, in West Bend, the son of Arnold and Emilie (Marks) Lubahn.

Mr. Lubahn attended Kewaskum schools and was a graduate of Kewaskum High School. During his years of employment he drove truck for various companies throughout the area. He attended Alto Reformed Church.

Survivors include one son, Ken Luedtke, Fond du Lac; five daughters, Angie (Chad) Wierenga, Waupun, Lisa Engelberger, Wales, Janet (Robert) Marten, South Beloit, Ill., Cheri Lubahn and Donna Lubahn, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (Pat) Lubahn, Merrill, and Robert (Phyllis) Lubahn, West Bend; two sisters, Hope Dalzin, West Bend, and Barbara (Randy) Hagedorn, Mayville; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at Alto Reformed Church.
