Sandra J. "Sandy" Mietzel
COLUMBUS - Sandra J. "Sandy" Mietzel, 59, of Columbus,died on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at her home, following a courageous battle with breast cancer.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 3 p.m., at Olivet Congregational UCC, Columbus. The Rev. Denise Cole will officiate. Burial will be on Monday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m., in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.
Mrs. Mietzel was born on Sept. 9, 1941, in Columbus, the daughter of William and Agnes (Hughes) Hughes. She was married
on June 16, 1962, to Dennis Mietzel in Columbus.
Mrs. Mietzel was a member of Olivet Congregational UCC, Columbus, and was an eager dancer for the famous Step-Sisters dancing troupe of Columbus. She was kind and giving, and was an extraordinarily humorous soul who devoted her entire life to her family and friends. She loved and was passionate about her birds, flowers and spending time at Silver Lake in Wautoma. She often said she was born to shop. She will be remembered and cherished for her unconditional giving, love, friendship and laughter.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Dennis Mietzel, Columbus; one daughter, Amy Mietzel, Janesville; two sons, Brandon Mietzel, Sun Prairie, and Casey Mietzel, Columbus; her granddog, Rosie; mother-in-law, Pearl Hathaway, Wautoma; father-in-law, Ben Hathaway, Wautoma; one sister, Sue (Dave) Zittel, Columbus; two nephews, Bill (Cari) Zittel, and Jeff (Kim) Zittel, both of Columbus; many relatives and treasured friends, who will cherish and miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 1, from noon until 3 p.m., at Olivet Congregational UCC, Columbus.
Memorials may be made to Columbus Community Hospital, The Larson House or Olivet Church.

Erna Kottke
MADISON - Erna Kottke, 84, Madison, formerly of Waupun, died Saturday, Sept. 23, at St. Mary's Hospital.
It was her wishes that there be no visitation or funeral services. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial cemetery, Madison.
Survivors include a niece, Ilis (Lawrence) Kuck, Madison; a nephew, Russell Kottke, Fox Lake; relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Frances L. Woltman
JUNEAU - Frances L. Woltman, 101, formerly of Juneau, died on Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Reeseville. The Rev. Roger Grosnick will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery, town of Oak Grove.
Mrs. Woltman was born on May 14, 1899, in Lebanon, the daughter of Carl and Bertha (Uttech) Braunschweig. She was married
to Paul Woltman, on May 14, 1920, at St. Peter's Church, Lebanon.
Mrs. Woltman farmed with her husband in the town of Oak Grove for many years. She was a member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Grove, for over 72 years and a member of the Juneau Senior Citizens. Her enjoyment was to play cards and go fishing.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Woltman, Juneau, and Ward (Lucy) Woltman, Juneau; four grandchildren, Randal Woltman, Oak Grove, Brenda (Wayne) Breitbarth, Mequon, Bryan (Sue) Woltman, Beaver Dam, and David (Lori) Woltman, River Falls; five great-grandchildren, Melissa and Daniel Woltman, Erica, Jenna and Deanna Breitbarth; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul, on May 12, 1990; and other brothers and sisters.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Reeseville.
G. Edward Wheeler
MADISON/SUN CITY, ARIZONA - G. Edward Wheeler, died on Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at his home.
A memorial service was held on Friday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m., at Cress Funeral Home, Madison. Burial of the cremains followed in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mr. Wheeler was born on Nov. 30, 1917, the son of Walter and Martha (Gabrialson) Wheeler, in Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Wheeler attended UW-Madison, where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees. In 1942, he joined the Coast Guard; he served in the Pacific Theater in China and Hiroshima. In Feb. 1946, he returned to Wisconsin to work as a high school teacher. He was the director of Moraine Park Technical Institute in Beaver Dam from 1966 until his retirement. He was the first counselor for the Dane County Alcoholism Information and Referral Center.
Survivors include his wife, Borghild "Buddy"; two children, John (Bonnie) Verberkmoes and Mary Margaret Connery; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine and Mary; two nieces; two nephews; a grand-nephew; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and James.

Ruth L. Messer
JUNEAU - Ruth L. Messer, 92, of 199 Home Road, Juneau, formerly of Minnesota Junction, died on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m., at Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton.
Mrs. Messer was born on Dec. 27, 1907, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of David and Catherine (Smith) Sweet. She was married
to Ray Messer, on June 26, 1930.
Mrs. Messer was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam; the Senior Citizen Group of Juneau, and the Ladies Bowling League in Juneau. She was employed at the Red Rooster Cheese Company in Mayville for 19 1/2 years, retiring in 1970.
Survivors include one son, Delmar (fiance, Doris Schmidt) Giese, Beaver Dam; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; one daughter, Judy Roedl; one son, Clarence Giese; one daughter-in-law, Ethel Giese; two brothers, Floyd and David, and two sisters, Jessie Pearsall and Esther Hartel.
Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 1, from noon to 2:30 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Norma Vorlop
RANDOLPH - Norma Vorlop, 91, of Randolph, was called to her eternal home on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m., at Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph. The Rev. Walter Goers Jr. will officiate.
Mrs. Vorlop was born on June 8, 1909, in Randolph, the daughter of Albert T. and Margaret Zieman. She was married
on Nov. 26, 1929, to Dr. Frederick W. Vorlop.
Mrs. Vorlop was a 1926 graduate of Randolph High School. She was employed at Jung Seed Co. as a secretary and office manager for 53 years. She lived and enjoyed life to the fullest, enjoying traveling, flowers and golfing. She especially found joy in her four great-grandchildren, the youngest of whom is 12 days old. She was a member of Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph. Her faith in God sustained her throughout her life.
Survivors include her son, Frederic Clayton (June) Vorlop; three grandchildren, Gretchen (Greg) Waitley, Elizabeth (Brad) Hilbelink, and Frederic J. (Michele) Vorlop; four great-grandchildren, Anna and Grace Hilbelink, Samantha Waitley, and Frederic C. Vorlop II; two sisters, Margaret Schnur, and Dorothy Waterworth; two brothers, Merwin Zieman, and Kenneth (Sadie) Zieman; one sister-in-law, Margaret Zieman; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Frederick W. Vorlop; and three brothers, Clayton, Harold and Orlyn Zieman.

Elmira A. Hauser
Elmira A. Hauser, 82, of 116 Lakecrest Drive, Apt. 240, Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Beaver Dam Care Center.
The funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner officiated. Burial was in Lowell cemetery.
Ms. Hauser was born on July 11, 1918, in the town of Lowell, the daughter of William and Louise (Krause) Poetter.
Ms. Hauser was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith (Richard) Abler, Beaver Dam; one brother, Herb (Mae) Poetter, Beaver Dam; two sisters, Erna (Walter) Miller, Lowell, and Dora Huebner, Watertown; two granddaughters, Lisa (Landon) Naffin, and Laura (Andrew) Martin; two great-grandchildren, Milinda and Cory Martin; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters; and six brothers.

Maureen C. Frechette
MAYVILLE - Maureen C. Frechette, 50, of 103 Lincoln Lane, Mayville, died on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mayville. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.
Mrs. Frechette was born on Nov. 2, 1949, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Linus and Joan (Brannan) Mullarkey. She was married
on Aug. 2, 1969, to Robert Frechette at Holy Family Catholic Church, Whitefish Bay.
Mrs. Frechette graduated from Dominican High School, Whitefish Bay. After attending Stratton College in Milwaukee, she was employed at Whitefish Bay Bank for seven years. She moved to Mayville and worked at the Village Flower Shoppe for 11 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mayville.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Frechette, Mayville; two sons, Scott and Michael Frechette, Mayville; two daughters, Jennifer Frechette Horicon, and Beth Frechette, Mayville; her mother, Joan Mullarkey, Beaver Dam; two brothers, Jerry (Toni) Mullarkey, Scotsdale, Ariz., and Tom (Sue Smith) Mullarkey, Oconomowoc; one sister, Eileen (Kevin) Braatz, Beaver Dam; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Frechette, Waukesha; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Linus Mullarkey and father-in-law, Sylvester Frechette.

Kathryn Wendorff
HORICON - Kathryn "Kit" Wendorff, 51, of W3383 Decora Road, Horicon, died on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Froederdt Memorial Hospital, Milwaukee.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m., at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge. The Rev. Larry Mose will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew's cemetery Iron Ridge.
Mrs. Wendorff was born on March 19, 1949, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Lawrence and Katherine (Bachhuner) Krieser. She was married
on Jan. 7, 1978, to Gene Wendorff at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge.
Mrs. Wendorff was a 1967 graduate of Mayville High School and attended Patricia Stevens Career College. She was a member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge, a member of the Mayville Festival of the Lights committee, vice president of the Mayville Limestone Society Museum, and belonged to the Hartford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Wendorff, Horicon; three children Roxanne (Lionell) Williams, Carson, Calif., Timothy Wendorff, Horicon, and Kelly Wendorff, Milwaukee; her parents, Lawrence and Katherine Krieser, Mayville; mother-in-law, Virginia Wendorff, Iron Ridge; five sisters, Amy Krieser, Michelle Krieser, and Molly (Hans) Henkle, all of Mayville, Pat (Dave) Shikoski, Fond du Lac, and Cindy (Doc) Woods, Coram, Mont.; two brothers, Kurt (Marsha) Krieser, and Andy (Cindy) Krieser, both of Mayville; three grandchildren, Cassandra, Curtis and Breah; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Raymond T. Vande Berg
BRANDON - Raymond T. "Mike" Vande Berg, 68, of Woodward Street, Brandon, died on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at his home.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m., at the Alto Reformed Church, Alto. The Revs. Ted Lindman and Ted Medema will officiate. Burial will be in Alto cemetery, Alto.
Mr. Vande Berg was born on Jan. 27, 1932, in the Alto area, the son of John and Bessie (Vanden Berg) Vande Berg. He was married
on Aug. 18, 1955, to Marcella "Sally" Vant Hoff in Alto.
Mr. Vande Berg farmed in the Alto area where he retired in 1986 and later moved to the village of Brandon. He was a member of the Alto Reformed Church, Alto. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Vande Berg, Brandon; one daughter, Roxanne (Keith) Pollesch, Brandon; two sons, Randy (Jodi) Vande Berg, and Rick (Gay Nell) Vande Berg, both of Brandon; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one step-great-grandchild; five brothers, Bernard (Muriel) Vande Berg, Chester (Ruth) Vande Berg, and Preston (Carol) Vande Berg, all of Waupun, Donald (Donna) Vande Berg, Markesan, and Wallace (Arline) Vande Berg, Brandon; one sister, Henrietta (William) Van Ruiswyk, Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Edward.
