Gordon D. Wiegert
Gordon D. Wiegert, 72, of Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at University Hospital, Madison.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mary Mail will officiate. Burial will be in Lakewood cemetery, Lake City, Minn.
Mr. Wiegert was born on April 14, 1928, in Duluth, Minn., the son of C.C. "Jim" and Gladys (Martin) Wiegert. He was married
on July 30, 1950, to Vanda Linke in Fort Atkinson.
Mr. Wiegert was a 1945 graduate of Fort Atkinson High School. He was district superintendent of Schultz Brothers Variety Stores.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Beaver Dam, Zor Shrine, Badger Shrine Club, Shrine Nomads, Eau Claire Valley Consistory, Odd Fellows, the Kiwanis Club of New Richmond, dual member of the Willow River Chapter No. 37 Eastern Star in New Richmond, Chamber of Commerce in Beaver Dam, Waupun Masonic Lodge No. 48, Waupun Eastern Star No. 144, coordinator of Shrine Screening Clinics and a grand representative to Georgia in Wisconsin. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Vanda Wiegert, Beaver Dam; one son, Tom Wiegert, Seoul, South Korea; one daughter, Kathy Wiegert, Virginia, Minn; one sister, Sally (Joe) Urban, Monroe; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Closed casket visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, with a Masonic service by Lodge No. 48, at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Beaver Dam, or to the Shrine Childrens Hospital.
Herbert J. Gitzinger
SUN CITY, ARIZ. - Herbert J. Gitzinger, 86, of Sun City, Ariz., died on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000.
A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27, at St. Clements of Rome Catholic Church.
Mr. Gitzinger was born on Oct. 10, 1913, in Woodland.
Mr. Gitzinger was a long time resident of Beaver Dam where he was employed for many years with the Old National Bank. In 1959 he moved to Arizona where he was employed by the Arizona Bank until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of St. Clements of Rome Catholic Church and a charter member of Palm Brook Country Club. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; one daughter, Gail (Dave) Swan, Wautoma; one son, Phil (Pat) Gitzinger, South Pasadena, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; relatives and friends.

Harvey A. Vocks
MERCER - Harvey A. Vocks, 83, died on Thursday Sept. 21, 2000, at Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m., at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau. Burial will be in Juneau City cemetery.
Mr. Vocks was born on April 28, 1917, in Juneau, the son of Arthur and Anna Vocks.
Mr. Vocks owned and operated Vock's Grocery Store for many years before he retired to Mercer. He was a long time member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Juneau.
Survivors include one sister, Neva Vocks, Mercer; one nephew, John Affeld, Watertown; relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau.
Elizabeth A. Hankes
Elizabeth Ann Hankes, 45, of 128 E. South St., Beaver Dam, formerly of Madison, died on Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in Beaver Dam.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Beaver Dam.
Ms. Hankes was born on March 29, 1955, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Joseph and Audrey (Budde) Hankes. She was formerly married
to Keith Ruzicka.
Ms. Hankes attended St. Peter's School, Beaver Dam, and was a 1973 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She received her undergraduate degree in communicative disorders from UW-Madison, and her master's degree in speech and language pathology from UW-Eau Claire. She worked for CUNA Mutual-Equifax Card Services Department, Madison, and at Rehab Resources Inc., Beaver Dam. She was a creative and talented person who loved spending time with nieces and nephews. She touched the lives of everyone she knew with warmth, gentleness and a kind sense of humor. We pray for peace for Beth, finally.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Felix and Evelyn Budde, and John and Catherine Hankes; and one brother, Joey Hankes, in 1953.

Maurene Spence-Wallin
MAYVILLE - Maurene Spence-Wallin, 79, a resident of the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Horicon, died on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at the nursing center.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery, Webster, at a later date.
Mrs. Wallin was born on Dec. 9, 1920, in Sabinal, Texas, the daughter of Howard and Mae (Owens) Spence. She was married
on Jan. 4, 1946, to Ernest Wallin in St. Paul, Minn.
Mrs. Wallin was a resident of Horicon since 1962. She worked at the John Deere Horicon Works for 20 years, was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon, and was a block captain for the Neighborhood Watch program in Horicon.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Wallin, Fond du Lac; two daughters, Barbara (Norman) Schwantes, Menomonee Falls, and Suzan Meyer, Fond du Lac; one son, James Wallin, Appleton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, George Spence, Hondo, Texas; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ruby Reese
JUPITER, FLA. - Ruby Reese, 73, of Jupiter, Fla., died on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000.
The funeral was held on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Grace Emmanuel Bible Church, Jupiter, Fla.
Mrs. Reese was born on Feb. 21, 1927, in Melborn, Okla., the daughter of Vernon and Hazel Reper. She was married
on Jan 27, 1945, to John Reese.
Mrs. Reese lived in Beaver Dam in 1977 while her husband pastored the Free Methodist Church here. Shemoved to Jupiter, Fla., in 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Reese, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Linda (Don) Harris Owens Crossroads, Ala.; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in September 1988.

Calvin H. Meier
MADISON - Calvin H. Meier, 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at University Hospital in Madison.
A memorial service was held on Monday, Sept. 18, at 3 p.m., at Grace Bible Church, Madison. The Rev. Floyd Becker officiated.
Mr. Meier was born on March 22, 1929, the son of Herman and Gertrude Meier of Madison. He was married
on Feb. 5, 1955, to Janet Rayburn of St. Croix
Mr. Meier attended St. John Military Academy as a young man and graduated from Madison West High School in 1948. He served in the Air National Guard during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. After the war, he attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich. He joined his father, Herman, and brothers, Robert and Richard working in the family business, Badger Coaches and Meier Truck Sales, until 1970. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, he left the family business and founded Cal Meier Chevrolet-Buick in Columbus. He successfully operated his car dealership until he sold the business in 1985. Calvin and Janet then retired and spent winters in McAllen, Texas.
He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Madison, all of his adult life, where he served faithfully as a song leader for over 35 years. He was a gifted musician who loved singing to his Lord with his clear, tenor voice. He loved to sing with others as well and was a part of many choirs and quartets. He also loved to play the guitar and trombone, and was a talented photographer and artist. He was an athletic man who loved golf, weightlifting and fitness. He loved motorcycling and took many trips with his wife and friends throughout the years. He gave the phrase "never a dull moment" new meaning for he lived life full of zest having been blessed with a very outgoing personality. He most enjoyed interacting with people of all walks of life and sharing his faith with others. To him every day was a new opportunity to meet and make a friend. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Janet; four children, Calvin Jr. (Judy), Tulsa, Okla., David (Debbie), Madison, William (Heidi), Geneva, Ill., and Becky (Jerry) Stoddard, Sun Prairie; 10 grandchildren, Whitney, Logan, Carson, Jessica, Carly, David Jr., Michael, Durek, Rachel and Cory; two brothers, Robert and Richard; one sister, Ruth; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Arthur E. Haese
WAUPUN - Arthur E. Haese, 92, a resident of the Christian Home, Waupun, died on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at the home.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10:30 a.m., at Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Kenneth Spense will officiate. Burial will be in Bell cemetery, Winneconne.
Mr. Haese was born on Feb. 6, 1908, in Winneconne, the son of Julius and Elizabeth (Strutzman) Haese. He was married
on May 26, 1934, to Adeline Reinhardt.
Mr. Haese was raised and educated in the Winneconne area, graduated from Oshkosh Business College with a degree in accounting and later received his CPA certificate. After his marriage, he and his wife lived in Waupun, where he was employed at National Rivet of Waupun as assistant treasurer and secretary for 50 years.
Mr. Haese was an active member of Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun, where he served as past president, vice president and treasurer. He was also an active member of the Waupun Rotary Club, where he served as past president and treasurer. He was also a member of the Waupun Christmas Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Harvey) Schmitz, Waupun, and Jean (David) Goodall, Australia; five grandchildren, Carmela Schmitz, Green Bay, Corinne (Jim) Aeschbach, Cross Plains, Steven Schmitz, Warren Schmitz and Alan (Donna) Schmitz, all of Waupun; two step-grandchildren, Tracey and Natalie Goodall, Australia; four great-grandchildren, Kira, Nichole, Marissa and Jenna; four step-great-grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Jared, and Maria; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline, in 1999; and one brother.

Lester O. Setz
COLUMBUS - Lester O. Setz, 94, formerly of 506 W. James St., died on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the Columbus Center.
Private family services will be held on Monday, Oct. 2. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.
Mr. Setz was born on Oct. 2, 1905, in the town of Elba, the son of Louis and Anna (Herman) Setz. He was married
on Oct. 10, 1933, to Verona Krueger. He was married
on Nov. 1, 1945, to Evelyn Miller in Doylestown.
Mr. Setz was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp. He was a town of Elba farmer and was employed at Deep Rock Co-op for many years. He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus.
Survivors include one sister, Amanda McMahon, Stoughton; twin sister, Esther Granberg, Madison; two sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Setz, Columbus, and Lucille Setz, Sun Prairie; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Verona, in 1937; his daughter, Anita, in 1937; his second wife, Evelyn, in 1992; three brothers, Bill, Eugene, and Monroe; four sisters, Alma Witas, Lucille Cain, Lillian Groening and Doris Jurkowski.
Memorials may be made to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus, or the charity of one's choice.
