Virginia O. Kohl
Virginia O. Kohl, nee Berend, 77, of West Bend, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
She was born Jan. 26, 1924, in West Bend, to the late Raymond and Florence (nee Schnepf) Berend, and married Jerome T. Kohl on June 10, 1942, at Holy Angels Church.
He passed away on Oct. 14, 1994.
Virginia was an accomplished pianist and organist, and was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Church.
She was a long-time West Bend School District employee, and was the secretary to Robert Malsch, director of Special Services, until her retirement.
Survivors include two children, Corey (William) Wuebben of West Bend and Kim (Mary) Kohl of Germantown; four grandchildren, Ted (Tammy) Wuebben of West Bend, Kent Wuebben of Milwaukee, Steve (Kathy) Kohl of Belgium and Jessica (M. Todd) Allion of West Bend; two great-grandchildren, Colin and Clayton Kohl; a sister, Lorraine Wiskirchen of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Geraldine (Vernon) Mulvaney of Carmel, Ind.; a brother-in-law, Gordon Fink of Hartford; a special friend, Oliver "Bud" Klumb of Cedarburg; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a brother-in-law, Frederick "Fritz" Wiskirchen and a sister-in-law, Gladys Fink.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, at 1:30 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend.
Father Michael Petersen will officiate, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services.

James K. Hadler
James K. Hadler, 59, of Grafton, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at St. Mary's Ozaukee Hospital.
He was born April 1, 1942, in Milwaukee to the late Henry and Meta (nee Dunst) Hadler, and married Marilyn Luecker on June 12, 1985, in Lake Tahoe.
Jim was a DJ for Twang Town, which specialized in country line dancing.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Troy of Hedgeville, W.Va. and Kurt of Slinger; two stepchildren, Cory (Annmarie) Schultz of Fond du Lac and Nicky (fiance Zoran Micic) Schultz of Milwaukee; four sisters, Pearl (Chester) Szafranski of Livington, Mont., Jean Ploetz of West Allis, LaVerne (Don) Zirbel of Conover and Shirley (Don) Hadler of Eland; a brother, Joy Hadler of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Joan Hadler; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Harvey; a brother-in-law, Ken Ploetz; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Hadler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25, at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, Jackson, with Rev. Kathryn Kuhn officiating.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 5 to 6:45 p.m.

Heath David Belter
Heath David Belter, 31, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2001, at his home after a three-year battle with cancer.
He was born March 16, 1970, in Wausau, to David and Jude (Kautza) Belter, and on July 31, 1999, married Kay Gibbons at St. Ann's Church in Wausau.
Heath worked for Shallbetter Brothers Inc. as an electrical engineer and was a member of the Community Church in Fond du Lac.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, David (Diane) of Merrill and Jude (Joe) Bretza of Grafton; a brother, D.J. (Jacci) Belter of West Bend; a sister, Holly (Wayne) Houston of Kansas City, Mo.; two stepsisters, Abra Rosen and Missy (Ron) Borchardt, both of Merrill; his parents-in-law, Patrick and Ellen Gibbons of Wausau; maternal grandmother, Lillian Kautza; paternal grandmother, Savannah Schape; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his maternal and paternal grandfathers.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 27, at 3:30 p.m. at the Community Church, 609 Thomas St., Fond du Lac.
Rev. Ken Nabi will officiate, and burial will be in Rest Lawn Cemetery, Wausau.
Visitation at the church will be Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials in his name may be directed to the St. Agnes Hospice Hope Program.

Father Robert G. Sampon
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, May 25, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Newburg for Lawrence Thomas of West Bend, who died on May 22, 2001, at the age of 77. Father Robert G. Sampon officiated at the ceremony with arrangements handled by Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend. Interment took place at St. Augustine Cemetery in the Town of Trenton on Saturday.
Mr. Thomas was born Feb. 8, 1924 in the Town of Cedarburg, the son of Edward and Barbara (nee Hentges) Thomas. He married Lucille M. Wollner on May 26, 1948, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in the Town of Trenton.
He worked as a dairy farmer and carpenter for his entire life. He was also a lifetime member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Newburg.
Survivors include: children Gerald (Sandra) Thomas of Campbellsport, Patricia (Richard) Klumb of Fond du Lac, Marjorie (William) Klumb of West Bend, Edward Thomas of Jackson, Marlene Bichler of Sheboygan Falls, Robert (Sue) Thomas of Cedarburg, James (Tammy) Thomas of Newburg; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; brother Ralph (Hildegrad) Thomas of Jackson; sisters: Alice (Leo) Schickert of West Bend, Sister Mary Ann Thomas of Oshkosh; brothers-in-law Joseph Roeckl of Newburg, Leroy (Delores) Wollner of Saukville.
Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sisters, Audrey Thomas and Regina Thomas-Roeckl.

Charles J. "Chuck" Gernenz
Charles J. "Chuck" Gernenz, 68, of West Bend, formerly of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at his residence.
He was born April 20, 1933, in Crown Point, Ind., to the late Carl and Edna (Schneider) Gernenz.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
After the service, he formed The Stoneydell Farm, moving to Fond du Lac in 1962 and later to West Bend in 1992.
He was a dairy farmer his entire life.
Chuck loved square dancing and rock 'n roll.
Survivors include two sisters, Charlotte Kelly of Dyer, Ind. and Phyllis (Donald) Bales of Hebron, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Gernenz of Fond du lac; his working companions, Daniel Hafeman and sons, Jonathan and Dustin, of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a sister, a brother, and working partner, William Palmer.
He was a member of The Holstein and Jersey Association of Wisconsin and National.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, at 8 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, and on Wednesday, May 30, at 8 p.m. at the Geisen Funeral Home, Crown Point.
Fr. James Strupp will officiate, and interment will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Calumet Park Cemetery, Crown Point.
Visitation at the Phillip Funeral Home will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday at the Geisen Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m.

Daniel S. Strancke
Daniel S. Strancke, 31, of the town of Wayne, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend, due to injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.
He was born July 31, 1969, in Milwaukee, to Charles and Antoinette (nee Rittner) Strancke.
Dan enjoyed fixing cars and was always willing to help others with their cars. His passion was truck driving and motorcycle riding, and he was also very good at model car building and enjoyed his computer.
Survivors include his parents, Charles and Antoinette of the town of Wayne; six brothers and sisters, Anne (Dan) Ketterman of Oceanside, Calif., Charles (Carolyn) of Greenville, Julie (Edward) Glaza of Skaneateles, N.Y., Laura (Steve) McGowan and Anthony (fiancee Shelly Wicklan), both of Milwaukee, and Jennifer of Kewaskum; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Michael, in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 1, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthias Chapel in Nabob. Please meet at the church.
Father Alois Van Beek will be the presider, and burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery, town of Kewaskum.
