Edward L. Calteaux
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Thiensville for Edward L. Calteaux, formerly of Thiensville, who died May 19, 2001 at the age of 82. Rev. Joseph Janicki officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Poole Funeral Home, Port Washington. Burial was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington.
Mr. Calteaux was born Oct. 16, 1918 in Milwaukee, son of Henry Leo and Nancy (nee Mayer) Calteaux. He married Clarice Paradise on July 3, 1948 in Milwaukee.
He served during World War II as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from May 31, 1944 to Aug. 8, 1946. He is a graduate of Messmer High School and received a football scholarship to the former Regis College. He was a supervisor for the U.S. Post Office in downtown Milwaukee for 37 years.
Survivors include: children Mary Calteaux of Hindsdale, Ill., Henry (Kathy) Calteaux of Winona, Minn., Sue (David) O’Malley-Larson of Port Washington, Annette Calteaux of Lyons, Michael Calteaux of South Milwaukee; grandchildren Michael, Brian, Jenne’ Calteaux, Jennifer and Kimberly O’Malley.
Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife and sisters, Viola Herbst, Adele Calteaux and Marge Lugar.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association are appreciated.
William Palmer
William Palmer, 84, of Kewaskum, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend.
He was born June 27, 1916, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to the late John and Maria (Lomatski) Palmer. He was raised in Montana, and at an early age the family moved to Chicago.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
After his marriage to Pauline Rodger in June of 1957 in Chicago, the couple lived in Chicago.
William had been a bellman for various hotels, including The Sheraton, Palmer House and Executive House of Chicago, retiring in 1991.
He settled in Kewaskum in 1999.
His wife passed away June 30, 1963.
Survivors include a son, Jack (Lynsette) Rodger of Menomonee Falls; four grandchildren, Mary Anne (Thomas) Tibbitts of Kewaskum, Claire (Paul) Witting of Parish, Fla., Michael Rodger of West Bend and Kathleen (Brian) Bence of Hartland; seven great-grandchildren, Michael and Jason Wiedmeyer, Shanella, Elizabeth, Kathryn, Teresa and Matthew Wepking; two great-great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Alexander Wiedmeyer; his caregiver, Anne Schulte; a sister, Mary Hahn of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Palmer of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, a sister, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Rodger, and a grandson, William Rodger.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. at The Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.
Father Jeffrey Haines will officiate, and interment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Visitation at the funeral home only will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials are appreciated to the American Heart Association or the Washington County Humane Society.
Melvin L. Emmer
Melvin L. Emmer, 71, of Allenton, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee.
He was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Allenton, to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Gundrum) Emmer, attended Sacred Heart Grade School, Allenton, and graduated from West Bend High School in 1949.
He was a tool and die maker for The West Bend Co., later serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
After his marriage to Betty J. Feucht on May 15,1954, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy, the couple lived in Allenton.
He continued his employment at The West Bend Co. for over 43 years, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Kathleen (Paul) Roethle of Iron Ridge, Allen (Darlene) Emmer of Slinger, Gary (Kaye) Emmer of Allenton, Steven (Linda) Emmer of Sussex and Mary Beth (Jerry) Mayer of Allenton; 15 grandchildren, Joseph, Jennifer, Stephanie and Elizabeth Roethle, Bryan, Janine and Kevin Emmer, Jeffrey and Gregory Emmer, Nicole, Danielle and Makayla Emmer, Jessica, Kimberly and Christopher Mayer; a brother, Jerome Emmer of Allenton; a sister, Shirley (Roman) Stoffel of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was a member of Resurrection Church of Allenton, the 25-Year Club of The West Bend Co., American Legion Fohl-Martin Post 483 of Allenton, and a past member of the Allenton Fire Dept.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 25, at 7 p.m. at Resurrection Church, Allenton.
Father Richard Breitbach will officiate, and interment will follow the Mass.
Visitation at the church only will be Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials are appreciated to the Resurrection Church Building Fund, The American Heart Association or The American Diabetes Association.

Lawrence Thomas
Lawrence Thomas, 77, of West Bend, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
He was born Feb. 8, 1924, in the town of Cedarburg, to the late Edward and Barbara (Hentges) Thomas.
After his marriage to Lucille M. Wollner on May 26, 1948, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, town of Trenton, the couple lived in the town of Jackson where he was a dairy farmer and carpenter all his life.
Lawrence was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved doing home improvement, enjoyed dancing and playing his piano accordian.
He was a lifetime member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg.
His wife passed away on July 23, 2000.
Survivors include seven children, Gerald (Sandra) Thomas of Campbellsport, Patricia (Richard) Klumb of Fond du Lac, Marjorie (William) Klumb of West Bend, Edward Thomas of the town of Jackson, Marlene Bichler of Sheboygan Falls, Robert (Sue) Thomas of Cedarburg and James (Tammy) of the village of Newburg; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Ralph (Hildegard) Thomas of Jackson; two sisters, Alice (Leo) Schickert of West Bend and Sister Mary Ann Thomas of Oshkosh; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Roeckl of Newburg and Leroy (Delores) Wollner of the town of Saukville.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Audrey Thomas and Regina Thomas-Roeckl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 25, at 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg.
Father Robert G. Sampon will officiate, and interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, town of Trenton, at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Visitation at the church only will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
Masses or memorials are appreciated.

Harold P. Tesar
Harold P. Tesar, 88, West Bend, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa.
He was born March 14, 1913, in West Bend, to the late Joseph and May (nee Blau) Tesar, and married Loretta M. Dwyer on Feb. 22, 1938, at Holy Angels Church, West Bend.
She passed away on Jan. 2, 1997.
Harold was raised in Newburg and attended Holy Trinity Grade School. Following graduation from Pio Nonite High School, he attended Marquette University, receiving a degree in accounting.
He coordinated retreats to the Our Mother of Perpetual Help Retreat Center in Oconomowoc for many years and enjoyed spending summers at Big Arbor Vitae Lake in Woodruff.
Harold was a long-time member of the Holy Angels Choir, secretary for many years of the Lodge 1398 Loyal Order of the Moose and was past Grand Knight of the Fr. Casper Rehrl Council 1964 Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include two children, Patrick (Carole) of Edgerton and Maureen (Richard) Dick of West Bend; five grandchildren, Alyssa Tesar of Madison, Sean Tesar of DeForest, Renee Dick of West Bend, Ross Dick of Whiter, Alaska and Angela (Jeremiah) Hackett of Iowa City, Iowa; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was a son, Michael, on Oct. 9, 1966.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic church.
Fr. Jeffrey Haines will be the presider, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the church will be Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Puppyland Humane Society Inc.
