John J. "Jack" Lennon Jr.
John J. "Jack" Lennon Jr., 86, of West Bend, formerly of Glendale, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
He was born April 12, 1914, in New York, N.Y., to the late John and Katherine (Leonard) Lennon Sr., and later moved to Clifton, N.J.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in all three theatres.
After his marriage to Mildred Anne Cochran on May 31, 1941, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Ridgely, Md., the couple lived in New York, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Milwaukee.
Jack was a manager of sales for US Steel Corp. for over 39 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a very active volunteer for many community events.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Jerre (Bill) Petrie of Cedarburg, John III (Susan) Lennon of Andalusia, Ala., and Dan (Linda) Lennon of Bozman, Mont; 10 grandchildren, Katie, John, Sara, Zetti, Joseph, Caitlin, Luke, Susannah, Lila and Annie; a sister, Katherine O'Brien of Patterson, N.J.; a brother, Jim (lee) Lennon of Brick, N.J.; nieces nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a sister and three brothers.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, West Bend.
Father Jeffrey Haines will officiate, and cremation will take place at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac with interment of ashes in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the church only will be Saturday, Feb. 10 , from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials are appreciated to the Cedarburg Community Scholarship Fund, Cedar Campuses or the charity of the donor's choice.

Andrea W. Stencel
A funeral service was held last Tuesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette for Andrea W. Stencel, 60, who died on Jan. 26, 2001.
Mrs. Stencel was born July 9, 1940 in Providence, R. I., the daughter of Stuart and Betty Woodward. She married Daniel J. Stencel on Jan. 20, 1962 in Madison.
She graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in chemistry in 1973 and was a dedicated employee of the State Laboratory of Hygiene in the Neonatal Testing Lab until 1989 when her Parkinson’s disease forced her retirement.
Survivors include: husband Daniel Stencel; daughter Lisa (Philip) Nelson; son Douglas Stencel; grandchildren Emily, Erika and Travis Nelson; sister Marcia Linton; brother John Woodward, brothers-in-law Gerald Stencel, David (Wendy) Stencel, James (Lorraine) Stencel; nieces Jill Stencel, Kristen Woodward; nephews Jeff and Craig Stencel, Mark and Jason Linton and Keith Woodward.
Further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stuart and Betty Woodward.

Monroe H. Schoessow
Funeral services were held Friday at First Immanuel Lutheran Church for Monroe H. Schoessow, 84, of Cedarburg, who died on Jan. 30, 2001. Burial was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery the following day.
Mr. Schoessow was born on April 3, 1916 in Freistadt, the son of the late Bernard and Rose (nee Lueders) Schoessow. He married Leona (nee Seifert) on Aug. 31, 1940. He worked as a herd technician. He was an active member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church Men’s Club, The Cedarburg Fire Department and was a past member of the Ozaukee Co. Fair Board.
Survivors include: wife Leona; children Janice (Robert) Fahrbach and William (Caroline) Schoessow; grandchildren Christopher and Sarah Fahrbach, Joanna (Ananth) Grama, Emily (Christopher) Juaire; stepgrandchildren Thomas (Kelly) Roszak and Gerald (Raelynn) Roszak; great-grandchild Brandon Juaire; step-great-grandchildren John and Mike Roszak; sisters Lillian (Henry) Stern, Elsie (Elmer) Ernst, Bernice Warner, Cecelia Schoessow; brother Gerhard (Dorothy) Schoessow; brother-in-law Ervin (Viola) Seifert.
Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Frances M. Marx
A funeral Mass was held Thursday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Cedarburg, for Frances M. Marx, 87, of Cedarburg, who died Jan. 29, 2001 at Lasata Care Center.
Visitation was at the church from 11 a.m., with Father Ed Wawrzyniakowski leading the Mass at noon. Burial was at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Mequon. Arrangements were handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg.
Mrs. Marx was born in Milwaukee on June 19, 1913, the daughter Conrad and Frances (nee Schwarz) Weber.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Marx.
Mrs. Marx was a member of the congregation at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.
She is survived by niece Marion (Eloy) Greuel of Fond du Lac; dear friends Amy (Robert) Rhiel, Jerry (Chris) Skopek, Kathy Skopek and Peggy (James) Stern; other relatives and friends.
Memorials of the donor’s choice appreciated.
Margo Ann Varo
Margo Ann Varo, 60, of Seneca, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2001, at her home, following a long illness.
She was born July 16, 1940, in West Bend, to the late Roy and Leona (Ernst) Steber, graduated from West Bend High School and received her bachelor of science degree in home economics education in 1962 from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
She taught at Wausaukee High School for three years and at Seneca High School for over 19 years.
She married Dale Varo on Oct. 1, 1966, at Seneca.
Margo trained in Black River Falls as a county home economics agent and was very active in judging at fairs, 4-H events and county bakeoffs.
She was bookkeeper and aide in the County Extension Nutrition Program for a year, helped support four children overseas through the Christian Children's Fund and was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Seneca.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dennis (Diana) Varo of St. Joseph, Mich. and Craig (Nettie) Varo of Boscobel; two daughters, Natalie (Glen) Freymiller of Prairie du Chien and Misty (Kevin) Draka of Seneca; five grandchildren, Matthew and Joshua Freymiller, Brandon and Dayna Varo and Kirsten Draka; a sister-in-law, Ruth Steber of West Bend; a cousin, Alice Mae Rose of West Bend; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was a brother.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Seneca United Methodist Church, with burial at a later date.
The Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien, assisted the family.
Hilda L. Knuth
Hilda L. Knuth, nee Kluever, 76, of West Bend, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
She was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Myra, to the late William and Lucinda (Martin) Kluever and married Edward F. Knuth on Aug. 27, 1949, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Newburg.
Following their marriage the couple lived in the town of Trenton and farmed on the Knuth farm for over 25 years, moving to Eastwood Trail in 1974.
Survivors include her husband; five children, Allen (Margaret) Knuth of Mount Holly, N.J., Robert (Susan) Knuth and Gary (Patrice) Knuth, both of West Bend, Mark (Teri) Knuth of Ames, Iowa and Nancy (Mark) Rosenthal of West Bend; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Kluever of Kewaskum; a brother-in-law, Arthur Renk of Kewaskum; a sister-in-law, Doreen Knuth of Port Washington; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Henry and three sisters, Louise, Eleanor and Anita.
She was a member of Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church of West Bend where she taught Sunday School for over 25 years and was also a member of the choir.
Hilda loved crocheting, ceramics and traveling. But most of all, she enjoyed raising her family of five children.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, West Bend.
Pastors David R. Meyer and Joseph M. Fisher will officiate, and interment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday at the church only from noon until the time of services.
Memorials are appreciated to the Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Brandon P. Newman
God's littlest angel, Brandon P. Newman, was chosen by God on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001.
He was born Jan. 30, 2001, in West Bend, to Patrick and Shelly (Wenninger) Newman.
Survivors include his parents; maternal grandparents, Bill and Ann Wenninger of Kewaskum; paternal grandparents, Ed and Jan Newman of Hubertus; maternal great-grandparents, Genevieve Wenninger of West Bend and Rita Beder of Jackson; paternal great-grandparents, William and Antoinette Mitchell of Carney, Mich., and Michael Newman of Menomonee Falls; aunts and uncles, Shane Wenninger of Kewaskum, Ed (Kim) Newman of Hartford, Lisa Newman and Laura Newman, both of Hubertus; other relatives.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church of West Bend.
Private services were held on Monday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend.
Father Jerry Repenshek officiated, and interment took place in Holy Angels Cemetery, West Bend.
