Clifford A. Nelson
Clifford A. Nelson, 77, of West Bend, died on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa.
He was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Lodi, to the late Henry and Carine (nee Fimreite) Nelson.
Cliff attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for three years prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1943.
He served aboard the battleship U.S.S. Mississippi, which was part of the U.S. fleet anchored in Tokyo Bay during the signing of the Japanese surrender in 1945.
After his discharge, Cliff continued his education at UW-Madison, receiving a BA degree in accounting in 1947.
Following his graduation, he started employment at The West Bend Co. and when he left there in 1975 was the vice president of a division of Dart Industries, the then parent company of The West Bend Co.
Shortly after, he became affiliated with the M&I First National Bank in West Bend, and was named president, a position he held until his retirement in 1988.
Cliff believed that people owe something to the communities in which they live. He gave generously to his church and other community organizations.
During his lifetime of service to the West Bend community, Cliff encouraged others to contribute significantly to numerous charitable organizations.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (nee McCargo) whom he married on April 30, 1949, in West Bend; five children, Paul (Jane Lewis) Nelson of Madison, David (Karen) Nelson of Racine, James (Diane Foust) Nelson of La Crosse, Janet Nelson of Shorewood and Robert Nelson of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren, Sarah, Peter, Matthew and James Nelson; two brothers, Howard (Iola) of Lodi and David (Elaine) of Wauwatosa; a sister-in-law, Amelia Nelson of Kirkland, Ill.; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Irene Cole, and a brother, Henry.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, West Bend.
Rev. William Dushek will officiate, and private burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation will be in the lounge at the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and also on Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be given to the West Bend Community Foundation or to the donor's favorite local charity.

Eleanore C. Lange
Eleanore C. Lange, nee Krautkramer, 85, of West Bend, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Wisconsin Rapids to the late Edwin and Hortense (nee Gotchey) Krautkramer.
Ellie graduated from Dodge County Normal School with a teaching certificate and taught elementary school in the Lebanon area for approximately eight years.
After her marriage to Armin Lange on April 13, 1941, in Ripon, they settled in the Ashippun area where she taught school for a while during World War II.
In 1946, the couple came to West Bend.
Ellie was employed as a nurses' aide at St. Joseph's Community Hospital for 35 years, retiring in January 1992, and was a member of the Ladies Aid at Christ Lutheran Church.
Her husband passed away on Jan. 22, 1963.
Survivors include three sons, Larry (Beverly) of Germantown, Leon (Kay) of Clarksville, Tenn. and William (Sandy) of Brookfield; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn (Calvin) Rauch of Phelps; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a sister, Jeanette Reberty, and two brothers, John and Ralph.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Jackson.
Pastor William Gruenstern will officiate, and burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Pilgrim's Rest Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Old Lebanon.
Visitation at the church only will be Thursday from 4 to 6:45 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church or to St. Joseph's Community Hospital Capital Development Fund.

Thomas C. Herman
Thomas C. Herman, 77, of the town of Wayne, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at his daughter's home in rural Campbellsport.
He was born Jan. 12, 1923, in Hartford, to the late Clarence and Clara (Neu) Herman, and on Nov. 21, 1942, married Mildred Gass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence.
She passed away on Dec. 14, 1997.
Tom and Mildred were the owners and operators of the Kewaskum Floral Shop in Kewaskum for 45 years, and he was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kewaskum.
Tom served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart award.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas (Carol) Herman of Adell, Glenn Herman of West Bend and Gary (Lynn) Herman of Burnett; four daughters, Lori (Rick) Maske of Campbellsport, Jane (Lloyd) Merkel of Random Lake, Patty (Eric) Olmsted of Rio and Ellen (Jack) Weiland of West Bend; 16 grandchildren 12 great-grandchildren other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Lucille Weber and Marie Thurau.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, at the Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, town of Wayne.
Father Mark Jones will officiate, and cremation will follow.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until an 8 p.m. prayer vigil.
Fr. Ronald J. Bandle
Fr. Ronald J. Bandle priest son of St. Mary's in Woodland, currently residing in Milwaukee, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, while officiating Mass. He was 59 years old.
Fr. Bandle was born to the late Elmer J. and Dorothy (Wolf) Bandle on Sept. 24, 1941, in Richfield.
He began his studies for the priesthood in 1956 at St. Francis Minor Seminary, graduating from St. Francis Major Seminary in 1968.
Fr. Bandle was ordained to the priesthood on May 18, 1968, by The Most Rev. William E. Cousins, Archbishop of Milwaukee at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. He said his first Mass at Holy Family Church in Reeseville.
On June 18, 1968, Fr. Bandle began his priestly ministry as an associate pastor at St. John the Baptist Parish in Plymouth. He was appointed the associate pastor at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Milwaukee, on June 16, 1970, and on Jan. 18, 1972, was named associate pastor at St. Patrick Parish in Fond du Lac.
Father was named associate pastor at St. Mary Parish, Menomonee Falls, on June 18, 1974, and at Holy Apostles Parish in New Berlin on June 16, 1981.
He was appointed a pastoral team member for St. Mary Parish in Waukesha on Aug. 30, 1983.
Fr. Bandle was appointed to his first pastorate on May 30, 1989, serving Sacred Heart Parish in Allenton, that included the mission of St. Matthias, Nabob. On July 1, 1992, he was appointed pastor at St. Anthony Parish, Allenton, and SS Peter and Paul Parish in Nenno, while remaining pastor at Sacred Heart in Allenton.
Father resigned from his pastorate on Dec. 7, 1992.
He was named assisting priest at St. Joseph and St. Kilian parishes, Lyons, and to Nursing Home Ministry in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee on June 18, 1998.
He was the loving brother of Dennis Bandle of Sussex, Kathleen Kemp of Tucson, Ariz., Barbara (Marvin) Malterer of Iron Ridge, Frederick (Kay) Bandle of West Bend, Theodore Bandle of Hustisford, Timothy (Bambi) Bandle of Ashland City, Tenn., John Bandle of Hustisford and Susann (Dennis) McDaniel of Mayville; dear uncle of 18; great-uncle of eight; nephew of Irene (Jack) Spenner, Cyril (Millie) Wolf, John (Loretta) Wolf, Bernie (Delores) Wolf, Robert (Irene) Wolf and Ralph (Shirley) Wolf, Carl (Betty) Bandle, Ruth Survis and Delores Bandle. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Elmer Jr., Gerald and Michael, and a niece, Michele Malterer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Matthew Church, Neosho.
Private burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Woodland.
Visitation at the church only will be Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials to St. Mary's, Woodland, are appreciated.

Alvin H. "Mike" Schmidt
Alvin H. "Mike" Schmidt, 80, of Cascade, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at the Apache Junction Health Center in Apache Junction, Ariz.
He was born Dec. 17, 1920, to the late Otto and Erma (Wittenberg) Schmidt, and on June 10, 1944, married Lillie Zacho at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Dundee.
She passed away on Nov. 27, 1973.
Mike owned and operated his own cattle hauling business for many years, making contacts and friends from at least three counties.
Mike's hobbies ranged from hunting to fishing, and in recent years he enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona.
Survivors include his wife, Millie, whom he married Nov. 6, 1975; a son, Lee (Barb) Schmidt of Kewaskum; two brothers, Elmer (Lois) Schmidt of Adell and Eugene (Joyce) Schmidt of Kewaskum; three sisters, Phyllis (Howard) Norges of Campbellsport, Carol (Kenny) Koth and Sylvia Burke, both of Kewaskum; a sister-in-law, Gayl Schmidt of Kewaskum; two grandchildren, Jill (Michael) Semerad of West Bend and Chad (special friend Julie Kerns) Schmidt of Santa Fe, N.M.; two great-grandchildren, Spencer and Parker Semerad of West Bend; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Jerome.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church.
Rev. Richard Schliewe will officiate, and committal services will be held on Friday.
Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 4 p.m until the time of services.
