Doris F. Borchert
Doris F. Borchert (nee Redlin) of West Bend passed away on Monday, Dec. 25, 2000 at the Cedar Lake Home Campus. She was 94 years old.
She was born in Rubicon on Dec. 12, 1906 to Frank and Amelia (nee Rohde) Redlin. She married Elmer Borchert on Sept. 17, 1929 at Peace Lutheran Church, Hartford.
She was a member of Old Club Cheese Makers of Waukesha. She lived in Waukesha most of her life and moved to Hartford in 1977.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer on Jan. 20, 1964; her parents; four brothers, Arnold, Edgar, Norbert and Roland Redlin; and a sister, Rosella Berndt.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Hartford with Rev. Daniel Westendorf officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends on Friday at the church only from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
The Shimon Funeral Home assisted the family.
Richard O. Shepard
Richard O. Shepard, 65, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
He was born April 7, 1935, in Rhinelander to the late William and Meta (nee Westenberg) Shepard.
After his marriage to Elsie Shaver on June 29, 1957, at St. Aloysius Church in West Allis, the couple settled in Milwaukee. In 1966 they moved to Fillmore.
Dick was employed at the former Power Products, now Tecumseh Products, in Grafton until retiring in March 1997.
Since 1986 they have lived in West Bend.
Dick loved hunting and fishing and was an active member of the Unity Club of West Bend.
Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Alice (Rollin) Dehmlow of Milwaukee, Vivian Schoenich of Stevens Point and Irene Perenich of Georgia; a brother, Edward (Cathy) of Grafton; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Edna Conslantineau and Isabelle Demeyer; and two brothers, Harold and William.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, West Bend (meet at the church).
Father Patrick Wendt will be the presider, and cremation will follow.
Visitation at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the 8 p.m. prayer vigil.
Richard "Rosey " Rosenheimer
Richard "Rosey " Rosenheimer, 84, formerly of Slinger, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Cedar Lake Home Campus, West Bend.
He was born in Neenah on Aug. 1, 1916, to the late Alexander and Helen (nee Mohr) Rosenheimer, and was a lifelong Slinger resident.
Survivors include his sister, Josephine Ott; nieces, Mary (Kenneth) Dwire of Lakeville, Minn., Patricia (Jeffrey) Holmes of West Bend, and Nancy (Roy) Sutterfield of Allegany, N.Y; a nephew, Robert (Linda) Ott of Lake Geneva; three grandnieces; six grandnephews; two great-grandnieces; and a great-grandnephew;
Preceding him in death was a brother-in-law.
Richard was also the great-grandson of Lehman Rosenheimer, an early Washington County pioneer.
He proudly served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant.
He was an accomplished musician,having been a member of a local band, "Skipper Leonn and the Deck Hands." The band entertained during the 1930s into the 1960s, playing a variety of music, including the popular Big Band music, in many Midwest venues.
Richard received honorable mention from the Waukesha Musician’s Association for serving 60 years as a dedicated, loyal musician.
He was active in the community, working at the Washington County Fair as a security guard for more than 30 years.
Richard was also loved by many generations of children as he worked as a Slinger school crossing guard.
He was an umpire for the Land ‘O Lakes baseball teams and local softball and baseball teams for more than 35 years.
For many years he was also caretaker of the Rosenheimer family cemetery.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, at at noon at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend.
Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in Rosenheimer's Cemetery of Slinger.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Slinger High School, as it has received the honor of attending the Inaugural Parade in Washington D.C. this month. A fund has been established for the band at the First National Bank of Slinger.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the kind and compassionate staff at the Cedar Lake Campus and to the local physicians.
Robert A. Kuenzi
Robert A. Kuenzi, 93, a resident of Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at the Manor.
He was born Oct. 22, 1907, in Beaver Dam, to the late Fred and Eva (Pfragner) Kuenzi, and married Adeline Washtock on May 26, 1951, in Beaver Dam.
He was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam, where he worked at the Weyenberg Shoe Co., Spring Street Plant, for 45 years, retiring in 1972. He also worked as a mechanic at the Coca Cola Bottling Co.
Mr. Kuenzi was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre in Australia and New Guinea.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam, the Knights of Columbus and the VFW, and was also a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Vicki) Kuenzi of West Bend; a daughter, Michele (Mike) Ptaschinski of Beaver Dam; two granddaughters, Krista and Kayla Kuenzi; a sister, Marie Kuenzi of Beaver Dam; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife in 1988; three sisters, Clara Rushlow, Ann Guse and Elsie Hammer; and five brothers, Elmer, Walter, Frank, Nicholas and John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, at noon at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.
Burial with military graveside services conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146, Beaver Dam, will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Beaver Dam.
Friends may call at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, on Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Gertrude M. "Dolly" Killeen
Gertrude M. "Dolly" Killeen, nee Kauth, 88, of Slinger, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 23, 1912, in Slinger, to the late Dr. Phillip and Mary Kauth, and graduated from Slinger High School.
She married John C. Killeen on Oct. 18, 1941, in West Bend.
Her training took her to Loyola University and St. Bernard's Hospital of Chicago in 1932. She became certified as an RN and laboratory technologist in 1941.
During World War II she worked for the Rhode Island Hospital and then at St. Joseph's Community Hospital of West Bend until retiring.
Her husband passed away Feb. 8, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Nan Weymier-Killeen) Killeen of West Bend and Jim (Jody) Killeen of Jackson; six grandchildren, Graham, Justin, Andrew, Jaclyn, Patrick and Daniel; a brother, Dr. Robert (Elaine) Kauth of West Bend; two sisters, Helene (Bud) Pfeffer of Chilton and Mary (Louis) Ottmer of Tampa, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Kauth of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Charles, Luke, Phillip and Thomas.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence, with Father Alois VanBeek officiating.
Her body was donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Memorials are appreciated to the charity of the donor's choice.
