William W. Hafenbrack, 80
William W. Hafenbrack, 80, of West Bend, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
He was born March 16, 1919, in Milwaukee, to the late William C. and Gertrude (nee Wegert) Hafenbrack.
During World War II, Bill served with the U.S. Navy.
After his discharge, he learned the auto body repair trade and worked as a repairman and later as a foreman in auto body shops in the Milwaukee area for many years.
After moving to West Bend, he was employed for the West Bend Joint School District #1 until his retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Wauconda, Ill. and William M. of West Allis; three grandchildren, Kasey Hafenbrack of Minneapolis, Minn. and Brenda and Nathan Hafenbrack, both of Madison; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Charles, Robert and Daniel, and a sister Nan Remillard.
At Bill's request, his body was donated to medical science.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, West Bend. Rev. Patrick Wendt will be the presider.
The family will greet relatives and friends at a reception in the church hall following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or to The American Heart Association.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.
Mary Beth "Becky" Pleister, 51
Private services were held last week for Mary Beth "Becky" Pleister, 51, who died Oct. 6, 1999 at her Mequon home.
Arrangements are being handled by Schmdit & Bartelt Funeral Home, Mequon.
Mrs. Pleister is survived by her husband Dick, and children Christian and Adam. Additionally, she is survived by parents Evelyn and Richard DeBruin, sisters Dale (Jerry) Keenan and Pat Lemke, uncle Bud (Mickey) Hlava, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many wonderful friends.
Mrs. Pleister taught children with special needs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the MACC Fund, 205 Bishops Way, Brookfield, WI 53005.
Virginia ‘Ginny’ Finch, 85
Virginia "Ginny" Finch, nee Gonring, of West Bend, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa.
She was born April 30, 1914, in West Bend, to the late Val and Julia (nee Wenninger) Gonring, and married Leonard Finch at Holy Angels Church, West Bend, in 1933.
Leonard passed away on Nov. 29, 1965.
Survivors include three children, Dick (Lois) of Kewaskum, Sandra (Dick) Packard of Baraboo and Mary (Ralph) Lemke of Mequon; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Calvano; sisters-in-law, Tory Gonring and Lucille Gonring; a brother-in-law, Jerome Mueller; nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, West Bend, with Fr. Jerome Repenshek presiding. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the church only will be Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to Holy Angels School Trust Fund or The Threshold are appreciated.

Clement J. Bauer, 77
Clement J. Bauer of West Bend, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, at the age of 77.
He was born May 5, 1922, in the town of Leroy, to the late Alois and Ottillia (nee Feucht) Bauer.
During World War II, he served with the medical services of the United States Army in the European, Pacific and Asian theaters.
After his marriage to Rita L. Weyer on Sept. 6, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira, the couple settled in West Bend where he was employed for the city of West Bend for 38 years, retiring in December, 1984.
For 22 years, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the West Bend Fire Department.
Clement was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Margaret (Robert) Trester of Slinger, Thomas (Pamela) of Kewaskum and Donald (Lynda) of West Bend; three grandchildren, Catherine and Robert Trester, both of Slinger and Matthew Bauer of Kewaskum; a step-granddaughter, Barbara (Thomas) Cook of Oconto Falls; two step-great-grandchildren, Thomas and James Cook, both of Oconto Falls; his stepmother, Ida Reiser of Juneau; two brothers, Jerome (Elizabeth) of Mayville and Kenneth (Alice) of Lomira; two sisters, Annela (Eugene) Wagner of West Bend and Sylvia (Franklin) Gremminger of Mayville; a brother-in-law, John (Carolyn) Weyer of Brownsville; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a son, Joseph in 1947; his parents-in-law, Andrew and Rose Weyer; a brother-in-law, Roland Weyer; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Weyer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church. Fr. Jeff Haines will be the presider, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday after 4 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 8 p.m., and also Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Masses or memorials may be given to St. Frances Cabrini Church or to the school.
Harvey F. Maas, 82
A funeral service was held Saturday at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cedarburg, for Cedarburg resident Harvey F. Maas, 82, who died Oct. 6, 1999. Rev. Randolph Raasch officiated.
Burial is at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg.
Mr. Maas was born in Cedarburg on April 19, 1917, son of Fred and Martha (nee Kannenburg) Maas. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and returned from the service to marry Viola Jaeger on Feb. 23, 1946 at First Immanuel Lutheran Church.
A lifelong member of First Immanuel, Mr. Maas was an illustrating artist by profession and also belonged to Cedarburg’s Peter Wollner American Legion Post.
Survivors include wife Viola Maas of Cedarburg; daughters Pam (Rev. William) Reese of Viroqua and Mary Shanahan of Cedarburg; grandchildren Courtney and Molly Reese of Viroqua, Cullen and Trevor Shanahan of Cedarburg; other relatives and friends.
Lois A. Gundrum, 79
Lois A. Gundrum, nee Younker, of West Bend, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, at the age of 79.
She was born June 11, 1920, in West Bend, to the late Carl and Barbara (nee Riesch) Younker.
After her marriage to Harvey J. Gundrum on Oct. 5, 1946, at Holy Angels Church, the couple settled in West Bend.
Lois was employed in the food service department for West Bend Jt. School District #1 as a food server at the high schools.
She and her family summered at Long Lake (Chinatown) for many years where she enjoyed fishing.
Her husband passed away on Feb. 3, 1996.
Survivors include six children, Michael (Sue), Mark (Mary), Jody (Jolene), Lee (Donna), Ann (Randy) Habram, all of West Bend, and Barbara (Jim ) Andrews of Adell; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a son, James in 1974; a sister, Betty Younker; and a brother, Carl Younker.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church. Father Gerald Brittain will be the presider, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the 8 p.m. prayer vigil, and also Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Evelyn Faris, 87
A funeral service was held on Friday at Community United Methodist Church for Evelyn Faris, 87, who died on Oct. 5, 1999. Rev. Pete Peterson officiated at the ceremony with Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg, handling the arrangements. Burial was at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
Mrs. Faris was born Nov. 1, 1911 in Milwaukee, daughter of Forest and Ella (nee Schubring) Stielow. She married Clarence O. Faris of Bradford, Ontario in 1929. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church and a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed crafts.
Survivors include: son Jim (Shirley) Faris of Fond du Lac; daughter Jean (David) Lawrence of Fond du Lac; brothers Harvey (Delores) Stielow of Milwaukee, William (Pauline) Jaeger of Milwaukee; sister Pearl Grudzinski of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren Jeffrey (Debbie) Faris of Grafton, Dale W. (Pam) Faris of Brillion, Diane (Jim) Soda of Oshkosh, Lee (Rebecca) Lawrence of Brookfield and Linda (Albert) Adams of Ouray, Colo.
Further survived by 10 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Clarence.
Geriena Ann Nierode, 89
A funeral service was held Monday at First Immanuel Lutheran Church for Geriena Ann Nierode, 89, who died on Nov. 24, 1999. Rev. Randolph Raasch officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg. Burial was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.
Mrs. Nierode was born May 18, 1910 in Grafton, daughter of Nicholas and Rosa (nee Dickmann) Schreiner. She married George Nierode on June 24, 1933 at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. She and her husband owned and operated the A & P store and the first Red Owl store in Cedarburg. Mrs. Nierode was a long time active member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: daughter Margaret (Gerald) Radke of Cedarburg; brothers Bernard Schreiner of San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren Laura (Patrick) Frank of Lake Geneva, Dale (fiancee Cheryl) Radke of Cedarburg and Glenn (Karen) Radke of Eagle; great-grandchildren Adam and Margaret Frank of Lake Geneva, Emily and Alexis Radke of Eagle, and Robin Schmidt of Eagle.
Further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and great-grandchild Nicholas Schmidt.
