Rachel May Kaphingst
Rachel May Kaphingst passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls.
She was born Dec. 21, 1999 at Community Memorial Hospital to Peter and Catherine (Orth) Kaphingst.
Rachel is survived by her parents, Peter and Catherine of Hartford; brother, Jacob; sister, Rebecca; maternal grandparents, Joan and Nick Orth of Hartford; paternal grandparents, Richard and Ruth Kaphingst of Hartford; great grandparents, Margaret Tenpas of Cedar Lake and Clifford Morris of Little Green Lake; aunts and uncles, Scott (Linda) Kaphingst of Kansas City, Kan., Heidi (Steve) Ernst of Madison, Lynn (Dan) Wampler of Mankato, Minn., David (Terry) Kaphingst of Sussex, Christine (Jeffrey) Hesse of Hustisford and Cynthia (Kevin) Helman of Bowie, Md. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 27 at 9:30 a.m. at Divine Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas Feiertag officiating. The family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
The family is served by Shimon Funeral Home.
Charlene R. Klumpp, 67
Charlene R. Klumpp, nee Campbell, of Hubertus, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at her residence.
She was born July 17, 1932, in Iron Mountain, Mich., to the late Alfred and Marion (nee Banks) Campbell, and married Robert J. Klumpp on May 28, 1955, in Milwaukee.
Following their marriage, the couple lived in Milwaukee where she was employed at K-Mart in charge of the electronics department for over 20 years, retiring in 1994.
Survivors include her husband; three children, William (Susan) of Florence, James (Julie) of Manitowoc and Michael of Hubertus; five grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Witz of West Bend; a brother, Alfred of Crystal Falls, Mich.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were two sisters and a brother.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.
Pastor Frank A. Bauman officiated and cremation was held at Parkview Crematory of Fond du Lac.
Memorials to the Covenant Hospice of Milwaukee are appreciated.
Halliburton-Rees, 44
Lowrene Halliburton-Rees of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of West Bend, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999 in Colorado Springs after a long struggle with cancer at the age of 44.
She was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 25, 1954 to Dale and Joan (nee Sell) Halliburton and moved to West Bend with her family in 1968.
Lowrene graduated from West Bend East High School in 1973. After attending the University of Wisconsin Washington County in West Bend, she moved to Colorado Springs where she met and married Mark Rees in March of 1980.
She is survived by her husband; three children, Ryan, Jonathan and Lindsey, all at home; parents, Dale and Joan Halliburton of West Bend; two sisters, Babe (Mitch) Hawkinson of West Bend and Paula (Michael) Scott of Knoxville, Tenn.; paternal grandmother Ruth C. Halliburton of Glendale; mother-in-law, Carol Sue Rees of Lincoln City, Ore.; two brothers-in-law, Jon Rees and Jay Rees, both of Lincoln City, Ore.; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by brother Dale W. Halliburton Jr. in 1973.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Community Church in West Bend. Rev. R.V. Brown will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Her cremains will be buried in the family plot in Manitowish Waters Cemetery. The Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, is assisting the family.
Gilbert E. Bruckmueller, 93
Gilbert E. Bruckmueller, 93, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, Sheboygan County, where he had resided for the past four years.
Gilbert was born Dec. 25, 1905, in Milwaukee, to the late Adolph and Martha (nee Volkmann Bruckmueller, and on July 20, 1929, married Margaret Fiedler of Milwaukee.
The couple came to Sheboygan in 1939. In 1942 they moved to West Bend before returning to Sheboygan in 1954.
His wife passed away on May 15, 1989.
Gilbert was a former superintendent of Moe Bridges, Milwaukee and Carl Pick Mfg. Co. in West Bend before retiring from R.A. Manning Co., Sheboygan, as plant superintendent in 1968.
He was a member of the Sheboygan Masonic Lodge No. 11, F&AM.
Survivors include a son, Gilbert Jr. of Sheboygan; a daughter, Marjorie Bruckmueller of West Allis; and other relatives and friends.
A private service of interment will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
A memorial fund has been established in his memory for the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Keith E. Schoenike, 42
Keith E. Schoenike, 42, of West Bend, died Monday, Sept.20, 1999, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 23, 1956, to Erwin and Gertrude (nee Key) Schoenike, and married Lois A. Griep on June 8, 1980, at St. John's Lutheran Church, West Bend.
She passed away March 11, 1994.
Keith was employed at the Gehl Co., West Bend, and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, West Bend.
Survivors include his parents, Erwin and Gertrude Schoenike; a sister, Lyn (Allen) Hackbarth; a brother, Dale (Tammy); four nieces and nephews, Derick, Nathan and Lindsay Schoenike and Steven Hackbarth; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, West Bend with Rev. John H. Paustian officiating. A luncheon will be held followed by interment in Rex Cemetery, Hustisford.
Visitation at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Kathleen A. Naab, 46
Kathleen A. Naab, 46, of Elroy, formerly of West Bend, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, in Elroy.
She was born June 22, 1953, in Milwaukee, to Henry and May (nee Klumb) Naab, and at an early age moved with her family to West Bend.
Kathy graduated from West Bend East High School in 1971 and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Before moving to Elroy, she was employed at the Milwaukee Journal Co. as a copy editor.
Survivors include her parents, Henry and May Naab of West Bend; a sister, Kristine (James) Verdin of Sioux Falls S.D.; two brothers, Steven (Carol) Naab of Lodi and Bryan (Marcia) Naab of Madison; three nieces, Liz, Becky and Jenna Naab, all of Madison; five nephews, Dan and Bill Naab of Lodi, and Peter, Andrew and Mark Verdin of Sioux Falls, S.D.; her maternal grandmother, Eunice Klumb of West Bend; a special friend, Gregg Erickson of Elroy; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. James Eckblad of Immanuel United Church of Christ will officiate.
A gathering to share memories and a luncheon will follow.
Private inurnment for the family will be held in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Gary E. Wolter, 54
Gary E. Wolter, 54, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee.
He was born June 21, 1945, in Chicago, Ill., to Roy and Genevieve (nee Berry) Wolter, and was raised in Guttenberg, Iowa.
After high school, he attended Wartburg college in Waverly Iowa, receiving a BA degree in education.
After his marriage to Susan K. Sarko on June 22, 1968, in West Bend, the couple lived in West Bend.
Gary was a teacher at Slinger High School for over 30 years, teaching social issues and world cultures. He was also a debate team coach.
Gary was a member of the Slinger Education Association (SEA) and the Wisconsin High School Forensic Association (WMSFA).
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Laura Wolter of Milwaukee; his mother, Genevieve Wolter of Guttenberg, Iowa; his father-in-law, John Sarko of West Bend; a sister, Joyce (Stanley) Marovets of Monona, Iowa; a brother, Paul (Mary) Wolter of Arlington, Texas; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father, Roy, and his mother-in-law, Beryl Sarko.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend. The reader will be Stanley Marovets.
Cremation will take place at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of services.
Joseph R. Ihlenfeld, infant
God’s littlest angel, Joseph Raymond Ihlenfeld, of West Bend was chosen by God on Dec. 2, 1999. He died at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Milwaukee.
He was born to Edwin and Julie (nee Quasius) Ihlenfeld on Nov. 11, 1999 in Milwaukee and was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of West Bend.
He is survived by his parents; one brother, Edison of West Bend; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Chris Quasius of West Bend; paternal grandmother, Eleanor Ihlenfeld of West Bend; maternal great-grandmother, Grace Quasius of Mequon; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives.
Funeral services were held Dec. 4, 1999 at The Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with Pastor Oscar Kraft officiating.
Interment was at the Washington County Memorial Park of West Bend.
Memorials are appreciated to St. Joseph’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
