Walter J. `Wally’ Giese
Walter J. "Wally" Giese, 74, of Kewaskum passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4 1999, at Cedar Lake Health Care Center in West Bend.
He was born April 1, 1925, in the town of Auburn to the late Otto and Alice (nee Zimmerman) Giese. On May 1, 1948, he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Prost at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.
Walter was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. He was employed by Regal Ware Inc. in Kewaskum for 37 and a half years until his retirement in 1989 and was a member of the 35 Year Club.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a 33-year member of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post #384 Kewaskum where he was past commander. He was a retired member of the Kewaskum Fire Department after 17 years of service.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years; a son, Jim (Mae) Giese of Fond du Lac; a daughter, Cheri (Tom) McElhatton of Kewaskum; a brother, Elmer (Margaret) Giese of Kewaskum; a sister, Mary Ann (Benno) Miller of Campbellsport; six grandchildren, Amy and Jaime (fiance Kim Dorsey) Giese, Eric (Karen) Vicki, Brenda and Cory McElhatton; a great-granddaughter, Oliva Rose McElhatton; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randall Scott; and an infant brother, Otto Jr.; three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services are being held at 1:30 p.m. today at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum with Rev. Edwin Fredrich officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites, follow at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
Friends called from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum and may call from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church today.
Loretta A. Fischer, 87
Loretta A. Fischer, 87, nee Fahney, formerly of the town of Lyndon, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at the Valley Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, where she had been a resident the past 11 years.
She was born Oct. 4, 1911, in the town of Trenton, Washington County, to the late Joseph and Theresa (Mayer) Fahney, and attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in Newburg.
On Feb. 7, 1959, she married Edward Fischer, and the couple lived and farmed in the town of Lyndon all their married life.
Her husband passed away Aug. 24, 1986.
Loretta was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Plymouth.
Survivors include a sister, Marcella Tesker of Saukville; a brother, Reuben (Margaret) of Newburg; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a sister, Alice Fieber, and five brothers, Charles, Alois, Joseph Jr. Lawrence and Roman.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Plymouth. Rev. Dennis VanBeek, pastor, was celebrant, and burial was in the Winooski Cemetery, town of Lyndon.
The Wittkopp Funeral Service, Plymouth was in charge of arrangements.
Shawn W. Langley
Shawn William Langley, 21, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 20, 1977, in Washington Court House to William and Joyce (nee Jaeckels) Langley.
He had been employed with the South Central Ohio Appraisers.
Survivors include his parents of Washington Court House; a brother, Shane of Washington Court House; paternal grandmother, Charlene Langley of Washington Court House; aunts; uncles; cousins and other relatives in West Bend.
Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 10, at 1:30 p.m. at Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, Washington Court House, with burial in St. Colman Catholic Cemetery, Washington Court House.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Steven J. Strand, 41
Steven J. Strand, 41, of Milwaukee, formerly of West Bend, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee.
He was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 22, 1958 to James and Eunice (Brusewitz) Strand.
Born in Milwaukee and raised in West Bend, he attended West Bend East High School and graduated in 1977. He was a graduate of the University of Stout, class of 1982, receiving a B.S. degree in home economics and business. He was employed at Midwest Express for over five years, then was employed at Adelman Travel Agency of Milwaukee.
Survivors include his sister Julie (Darold) Behm of West Bend; two nieces Abigail and Ashlie; two nephews, Joshua (fiancee, Melissa Orvis, ) and Jeremiah all of West Bend; an uncle, William (June) Strand of Menomonie; four cousins, Kathy Strand, Kay Strand, Kristie (Tom) Olson and Kari Strand, all of Menomonie; dear friend, Pamela Flasch of Milwaukee; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Steve loved traveling and fully enjoyed life itself.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999 at 6:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend, Pastor Daniel Schroeder, officiating. Internment will be on Monday, Sept. 13, 1999 at 10 a.m. at Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association appreciated.
Christian H. Hadler, 80
A funeral service was held Tuesday at Mueller Funeral Home for Christian H. Hadler, 80, who died on Dec. 25, 1999. Rev. Pete Peterson officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg. Burial was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.
Mr. Hadler was born on Jan. 8, 1919 in Zumbrota, Minn., son of Simon and Christina (nee Hinrichs) Hadler. He married Esther Knuth and worked as a laborer for a dog food manufacturer.
Survivors include: daughter Beverly (Ray) Preisler of Saukville; son Doug (Barbara) Hadler of Copperas Cove, Texas; sisters Hildegard Born of Zumbrota, Minn. and Martha Brunckhorst of Hudson; brothers Edwin and Harry (Dorothy) Hadler, both of Zumbrota, Minn.; grandchildren Kristi (Steve) Lucht of Oklahoma, Brian Hadler and Kevin Hadler, both of Copperas Cove, Texas, Vicki Preisler of Saukville; great-grandchild Lauren Lucht of Geronimo, Okla.
He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by son Anthony, brothers Gerhardt, Albert and Martin, and sister Regina Lohman.

Olive L. Saueressig, 81
Olive L. Saueressig, nee Kocher, 81, of West Bend, died Tuesday Sept. 7, 1999, at Maple Dale Manor, Kewaskum.
She was born July 12, 1918, in West Bend, to the late Oscar and Hattie (nee VandeBerg) Kocher, and married Earl J. Saueressig on July 22, 1936, in West Bend.
Olive was a life-long West Bend resident.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Thomas (Darlene) of West Bend; two grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Saueressig of West Bend and Holli Kalies of Wautoma; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Austin of Allenton and Jean (William) Ciriacks of Saukville; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was a brother-in-law Thomas Austin.
Private graveside services will be held Monday, Sept. 13, at Holy Angels Cemetery.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.
Delbert G. Lavrenz, 70
Delbert G. Lavrenz, 70, of Campbellsport, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at St. Agnes Hospital Fond du Lac.
He was born in Campbellsport on Dec. 12, 1928, to the late Gustav A. F. and Gertrude (nee Dickmann) Lavrenz.
Survivors include six brothers, Spencer and Darwin (Donna) , both of Campbellsport, Kenneth (special friend Alice) and Donald, both of Fond du Lac, Raymond (special friend (Cathy) of West Bend and Clayton (Sandra) of Beloit; four sisters, Joyce (James) Clark and Bernice (Kenneth) Bastian both of West Bend, Evelyn (Lewis) Gatzke of Kewaskum and Beatrice Wentz of Ocala, Fla.; 32 nieces and nephews; 35 great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law.
Mr. Lavrenz has donated his remains to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical College.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport Rev. Steven Hilyard will officiate, and inurnment will be in Auburn Cemetery, Campbellsport at a later date.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday, from 2:30 p.m. until the time of services.
Raymond M. Chesak, 91
Raymond M. Chesak, 91, of West Bend, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at the Samaritan Health Center.
He was born Jan. 6, 1908, in the town of Trenton, to the late Frank and Elizabeth (nee Laufer) Chesak, and attended St. Peter's Grade School in the town of Farmington.
Following his marriage to Mildred M. Esselman on Sept. 14, 1935, in Milwaukee, the couple farmed in the town of Farmington until 1965. Later he was employed at the West Bend Malt House for over seven years, retiring in 1972.
His wife passed away Aug. 11, 1987.
Survivors include two children, Eileen (Edward "Bump") Reul and Michael (Karen), both of West Bend; five grandchildren, Annette (Al) Schmitt, Chris (Dennis) Bates, Gail (Jeff) Esselman, Amy Chesak and Luke Chesak; five great-grandchildren, Nic, Adam, Emily Bates, and Ryan and Tyler Esselman; three sisters-in-law, Amanda Thelen, Agatha Laufer and Marie Kraus, all of West Bend, ; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a son, Karl, and 10 brothers and sisters.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
A Mass will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, at 7:30 p.m.on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Father Gerald Repenshek will officiate, and burial will be in St.. Peter's Cemetery, town of Farmington, at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Visitation at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m., with closing of casket prayers at 7:30 p.m.
Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the banquet hall of the Phillip Funeral Home.
