Mary Rasimaki
IRON RIVER — Mary L. Rasimaki, age 78, of Iron River, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the Memorial Medical Center, Ashland.
She was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Herbster, the daughter of Peter J. and Mary (Menneguzzo) Nicoletti.
Mary was a lifelong resident of the Oulu, Herbster and Iron River areas. As a child, she attended school in Herbster. She married Laurie Rasimaki, who has preceded her in death. Mary enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her close companion was her dog, Lucky. Her hobbies included gardening, crafts and watching birds. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge #192 in Iron River.
She is survived by a son, Laurie (Sandra) Rasimaki, Port Wing; a daughter, Mary (Richard) Morris, Ashland; three grandchildren, Robin Griffiths, Brenda Hughes and Tracy Rasimaki, six great-grandchildren; a brother, Angelo Nicoletti, Herbster; five sisters, Clara Martens, Herbster, Elizabeth Pearson, Cloverland, Bernadine Treviranus, Poplar, Louise (Dwight) Johnson, Port Wing, and Delores Schnepp, Port Wing; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Johnny Nicoletti, Dominic Nicoletti and Tony Nicoletti; and a sister, Catherine Larson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Rebekah Lodge in Iron River with Pastor Ida Iverson officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Herbster Community Cemetery.
The Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rebekah Lodge #192 in Iron River.
Ronald Maday
ODANAH — Ronald J. Maday, age 59, of Odanah, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at his residence. He was born Oct. 15, 1942, in Ashland, the son of Carl and Agnes (Rabideaux) Maday.
He graduated from DePadua High School in 1960. On June 6, 1964, he married Donna Skye, in Odanah. He attended the Milwaukee Vocational School for machine shop, from 1964 - 1965. In 1983, Ronald graduated from Northland College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He worked as an economic development planner for the Bad River Tribe. Ronald also worked for Wisconsin Job Service and the Native American Program at Northland College. For several years, he served on the Bad River Tribal Council. Ronald was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Odanah and also sang in the church choir. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Bingo, ricing, and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, Odanah; three daughters, Kimberly Maday, Madison, Veronica (Ryan) von Gogh, Odanah, and Skye Maday, Odanah; two grandchildren, Jared and Amber von Gogh; four brothers, Carl (Lois) Maday, Quincy, Ill., Raymond (Karen) Maday, Ashland, Gene (Donna) Maday, Minneapolis, Minn., and Stan Maday, Odanah; three sisters, Joyce Whitebird, Odanah, Joanne Spencer, Odanah, and Cheryl (Frank Connors) Karis, Odanah; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marvin Maday, in 1988.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Odanah, with Fr. Andre Schludecker, O.F.M. officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary service, on Thursday, at the Frost Home for Funerals, in Ashland.
Interment will take place in the Odanah Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Frost Home for Funerals, in Ashland.
Charles Forsberg
Charles H. Forsberg, 70, of Maple, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002.
He was born in Ashland on Aug. 19, 1931, to Arthur and Ella Forsberg. Charles had graduated from Ashland High School. He was a Korean War Veteran. He had worked at WHSA Rural Radio Station, and had done volunteer work at the Rock in Superior. He was very musical, and enjoyed playing the piano.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Raymond.
He is survived by three sisters, Ethel Sweitzer of Newark, Del., Agnes (Walter) Schutte of Ashland, and Lois Jancieski of Woodruff; and many nieces and nephews.
Private family services have been held. Burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home, Superior.
Thomas Gallus
Thomas W. “Muscles” Gallus, 77, South Milwaukee, died on Sunday, August 11, 2002. He was a graduate of the Drummond High School.
In 1947 while in the U.S. Army serving in Japan he was the Heavyweight Champion for boxing in Kyoto, Japan. He won tile boxing Golden Gloves in 1948 and 1949, and turned professional in 1950. He was employed by the Ladish Company in Milwaukee until the time of his retirement. He was a member of Jeremiah M. Rusk Lodge No. 259, Scottish Rites, and Tripoli Shrine Temple.
He was the stepfather of the late Dennis (Pat) Hlavaty.
He is survived by one granddaughter, Katlin Schneider; three sisters, Dorothy (Donald), Silver Bay, Minnesota, Billie Gorski, Hayward, and Margie (Jim) Schmidt, West Allis; a brother, John (Lynn) Gallus, Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred "Lee" (Rostkowski); a stepson, Donald (Gerta) (Kitty); and a brother, Ray.
Visitation will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home in Milwaukee on Thursday with a Masonic Ritual at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on Friday at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in the Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Ronald Pajtash
Ronald C. Pajtash, 47, of Maple, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, Minn.
He was born in Ashland on April 20, 1955. He had graduated from Ashland High School, and he was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Ronald had worked as a welder in California before recently moving back to Maple.
He is survived by a son Joe (Jamie) Pajtash of Maple; a brother Jerry Pajtash of Green Bay; a sister Gloria (John) Field of Plover; a niece and nephew David and Kim Field; and grandchildren Kyle, Katie, Corey, and Kayla.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cyril and Ann Pajtash.
A Graveside Service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at the St. Florian Catholic Cemetery, Ino.

John Pribnow
PARK FALLS —John A. Pribnow, 80, Park Falls, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 13, 2002, at his home. He was born on December 30, 1921, in Mellen, the son of Albert and Byrde (Eustis) Pribnow.
He was a graduate of Park Falls High School and then attended and received a degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during WW II. On September 12, 1953, he married Mary Verona in Park Falls. He was a journeyman meter man for Lake Superior Power/NSP for 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, building and fixing things, was an avid reader and loved learning and his computer and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Park Falls; six children: Barbara Eitrem of Park Falls; Joan Sun of Norfolk, Nebraska; Robert (Cindy) Pribnow of Duluth, Minnesota; James (Kathy) Pribnow of Rothschild; William Pribnow of Park Falls; Patricia Pribnow, of Superior; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Elizabeth Letourneau and Helen Bitney.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Park Falls. Fr. James Jackson will officiate.
Burial will] follow at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls with military rites under the auspices of the Park Falls American Legion and VFW Posts.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
Memorials to Flambeau Home Health and Hospice would be appreciated.
