Cheri Henri
Cheri L. Henri, 43, 115 East Layman Drive, Mellen, died Saturday,
March 31, 2001, at her residence with her family by her side, after
a lengthy struggle with cancer. Cheri was born June 12, 1957, in Rice Lake, the daughter of Floyd L. and Ruth E. (Mann) Blaine.
On June 5, 1976, she married Michael S. Henri at Mellen. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed camping and fishing and was very well known for her attention-getting whistle and snorting laugh. She enjoyed spending time with her family, whom she loved very much.
Survivors include her mother, Ruth Blaine of Highbridge; husband of 25 years, Michael Steven, Mellen; sons, Sheldon Michael of Mellen and Derrlck Norman with the U.S. Army stationed in Korea; daughter, Sheena Estella Henri of Mellen; brothers, Marc Blaine of Juneau, Alaska, and Harry (Sherry) Blaine of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; sisters, Vicki (Richard) Huber of Mellen, and Linda (Dale) Kokko of Highbridge; special sister, Sheryl Vernoski of Mellen; father and mother-in-law, Phillip and Mary Henri, Highbridge; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Blaine and one brother, Steven M. Blaine, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mellen, with Father John Scheer as celebrant.
Spring interment will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Highbridge.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the hour of service at the church on Tuesday.
The Mountain Funeral Home, Ashland, Bayfield and Mellen, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Anna Lauer
PARK FALLS — Anna Lauer, 89, Park Falls, died Friday March 30, 2001, at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls. She was born on November 14, 1911, in Germany, the daughter of Henry and Maria (Stockinger) Hackl.
Her early life and schooling were in Germany. She married Wilhelm Schmid in Germany. He preceded her in death. She came to Chicago in 1957, where she married Ralph Lauer. Mrs. Lauer worked for the Kobler Book Bindery in Chicago for many years. She came to Park Falls in 1991. She was a member of the Schuplattler-Verein-Edelweiss Club.
She is survived by: six children: Charlotte (Alfred) Hilgart of Park Falls; Anna Schneider of Elmhurst, Ill.; Karolina (Thad) Haderspeck of Chicago; Rita (Joseph) Reedhammer of Morton Grove, Ill.; Adolf Schmid of Freeport, Ill.; Willi (Ingrid) Schmid of Prospect Heights, Ill.; 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; a step-sister Rosa Blockl of Germany; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Wilhelm, her second husband Ralph, nine brothers and sisters, and two step-sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Park Falls. Fr. Clement Sobr will officiate.
Burial will follow at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
The Novitzke Funeral Home, Park Falls, is handling the arrangements.
Richard ‘Dick’ Winkler
Richard "Dick" Leon Winkler, 68, 116 14th Ave. East, Ashland, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at his residence. Dick was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Ashland, the son of Leo J. and Agnes D. (Bourgo) Winkler.
He owned and operated the Spot Tavern in Ashland. He enjoyed playing the piano and reading.
Survivors include his mother, Agnes of Ashland; one son, Curtiss
(Cindy) of Chicago, Ill.; four daughters, Kathleen Lemanczyk of
Chicago, Robin Winkler of Hermosa, Calif., Wendy (Frank)
Cubillos of Chatsworth, Calif. and Holly Winkler of Simi Valley, Calif.;
his wife of 30 years, Ruth Winkler of Simi Valley, Calif. He was the
proud grandfather of five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Leo.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at the Mountain Funeral Home in Ashland with Father Conan Mitchell, O.F.M. officiating.
Spring interment will take place in the Woodland Cemetery in Washburn.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Rosamond Koch Resudek
PHILLIPS — Rosamond Joan Koch Resudek, 71, Phillips, died in the Flambeau Medical Center in Park Falls on Sunday, April 1, 2001.
She was born in Chippewa Falls on Jan. 10, 1930, the daughter of Joseph and Ann Burger. She was married to Dewey Koch in Chippewa Falls on Nov. 27, 1947. They operated the Elk River Cheese Factory in the Town of Worcester for many years. She then worked in the laundry department at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips until the time of her retirement. Dewey died on Dec. 15, 1992. She was married to Walter Resudek in Phillips on July 29, 1995. She was a member of Our Lady of the North Catholic Church. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, especially flower gardening, and bird feeding.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; by four sons, Bruce, Arbor Vitae, Douglas (Donna), Prentice, Byron (Karen), Phillips, and Jeffrey (Deb), Phillips; by one stepson, John; by one stepdaughter, Eileen (Mike) Retzlaff, Amelia, Ohio; by nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and by one sister, Margaret (Carl) Krueger, Chippewa Falls.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dewey; by three sisters, Laverne, Cecelia, and Patricia; and by one brother, Donald.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, in Our Lady of the North-South, with Fr. Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips after 5:30 p.m. today. The Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. today.
Richard Schoenborn
PHILLIPS —Richard Henry Schoenborn, 80, Phillips, died in the Flambeau Medical Center in Park Falls on Monday, April 2, 2001. He was born in the Town of Emery on June 1, 1920, the son of Frank and Augusta Schoenborn.
As a young man he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II from 1942 to 1945, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Among other awards and medals he was awarded four bronze stars for his actions in combat. He was married to Marion DeLasky in St. John Lutheran Church in Phillips on September 16, 1950, and they later divorced. He was employed by Neeck Construction Company of Park Falls and worked as a logger. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and playing cards with his friends.
He is survived by five children, Robert (Connie), Phillips, Kathleen (Larry) Makovsky, Catawba, Patricia (Hank) Thomas, Phillips, Timothy (Patti), Abbotsford, and Scott (Brenda), Colby; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, Ted, Phillips and Ben (Marie), Brookfield; and two sisters, Laura Heim, Waukesha, and Norma (Roger) Scott, Woodruff.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl, and a twin brother, Raymond.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, at 11 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church in Phillips with Rev. Thomas Reiff officiating.
Interment will be in the Emery Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, with Military Honors conducted by the Frank and Michael Baran V.F.W. Post 5778.
