Richard Lucas

Richard Lucas, age 63 years, of 796 S. Main Street, Saukville, died Sunday morning, Nov. 24, 2002 at Columbia - St. Mary's Hospital, Ozaukee Campus in Mequon. He was born October 9, 1939 in Port Washington, son of the late Geroge and Norma Boeckman Lucas. He was retired from Exacto Spring Corp. in Grafton, where he had worked for 14 years. Richard was a member of St. Pater's United Church of Christ in Saukville, the Saukville Moose Lodge and was a past member of the Saukville Saints baseball team. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed golfing, spending time in his swimming pool and caring for his yard. He is survived by the dedicated love of Marsha Kastanek and his children Kevin (Michelle) Lucas of Cedar Grove, Kim (Michael) Anderson of Sheboygan and Connie (Paul) Saler of Cedarburg. He is the loving grandpa of Tanya, Tim, Kyle, Jarred, Lauren, Courtney and Elizabeth and the great-grandpa of Preston. He is further survived by his brother George (Carol) Lucas of Port Washington and his sister Kris (Thomas) Lemke of Sobieski, 2 brothers-in-law Ronald Dimmer of Saukville and Earl Abramowski of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers James and Kenneth and 2 sisters Dolly Dimmer and Marilyn Howard. Memorials to the family are suggested.

ALFRED M. BLICK

Alfred Blick, age 89 years, of the Town of Belgium, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family the morning of December 30, 2002. He was born January 21, 1913 in the Town of Belgium, son of Nicholas J. and Catherine Reiter Blick. On September 3, 1938, he married Elsie Becker at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. “Blicky” retired from Bolens in 1978 where he had worked as a truck driver. Alfred was a lifelong member at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church. He was a charter member of the Belgium Lions Club, a 69 year member of the Catholic Order Of Foresters and a member of I Aof M 1430. Mr. Blick is survived by his children Janet (Ralph) Petesch of Glendale, Joanne (Rod) Schueller of Port Washington, Betty (Ray) Mantsch of Clinton, IA, and James (Sue) Blick of Port Washington. He is further survived by 6 grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Elsie, 1 grandson, Brian, 2 sisters, Adeline Krier and Lucille Arendt. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 2, 2003 10 AM from the Funeral Home going to St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Father James Vojtik and Father James Ernster will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave. (Hwy LL and Park St.) Belgium, Wednesday, January 1, from 4-8 PM and again Thursday from 9-10 AM. A Parish Vigil will be held Wed. at 6:30 PM. The family suggests memorials to St. Mary’s Parish or the Wisconsin Lions Foundation.

JACK C. FLACK, Sr.

Jack Flack, age 69 years of PORT WASHINGTON, WI. and BONITA SPRINGS, FL. passed away unexpectedly at his home in Bonita Springs Sunday, January 19, 2003, at the age of 69 years. Mr. Flack was born July 16, 1933 in Shelbyville, IN, son of Toney and Ruth Bausback Flack. He married Shirli Brinker on May 31, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN. They eventually moved to Wisconsin and in 1969 Jack and Shirli founded Allied Insulation Supply Company in Milwaukee. Mr. Flack was an outdoorsman who loved to sail and hunt. He was a lifetime member and past commodore of the Port Washington Yacht Club. He and his wife enjoyed sailing their sloop Vivere which they kept in Port Washington. They also sailed the Virgin Islands and off Newport, R.I. observing America’s Cup. Deer camp was held at the Flacks’ home in Argonne in Forest County, WI next to the Nicolet National Forest. Mr. Flack was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Tripoli Shriners and Scottish Rite. He is survived by his wife Shirli, children Vici (John) Dohrwardt, Rosalie (Jeff) Morgan, Jack Jr. (fiancé Sylvia Demge) and Mark (Gennine) Flack, all of Port Washington, Anita (Robert) Woods of Naperville, IL, Laura (Kurt) Goranson of Germantownn, WI, Holly (Matt) Stubbs of Cascade, WI and Andrew (Mary) Flack of Loxahatchee, FL, 19 grandchildren, his siblings Neoral Cody, Joseph (Daisy) Flack and Charles (Judy) Flack, all of Indianapolis, Anita Woltering of Nashville, TN and Rosalie Spurlock of Atlanta, 1 sister in law Katy Flack of Walled Lake, MI, 2 brothers in law Gary (Priscilla) Brinker of Leheigh Acres, FL and Roy Gwaltney of Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Toney and sister- in- law Katherine Gwaltney. Funeral services will be held on Friday evening, Jan. 24, 7 pm at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington with burial in St. Mary’s cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation Friday from 3-7 pm. GERHARD E. LAUBENSTEIN

Gerhard Laubenstein, age 86, of 125 University Dr., West Bend, formerly of Fredonia died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington.
He was born January 15, 1917 in the Town of Saukville, son of Fred and Clara Wilkins Laubenstein. On June 22, 1940, he married Ruth Noster at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fredonia. He worked at the Gilson Foundry for 40 years, most recently as a shake-out man. He also worked part time at the Fredonia Post office, for 40 years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling. He also collected coins and stamps.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of West Bend, Children Pat (Ken) Kasten of West Bend, Gary (Kris) Laubenstein of St. Francis, and Jan (K.C.) Ward of Milwaukee, 5 grandchildren; Chuck (Eileen), Dan and Paul (Molly) Kasten, Nathan Laubenstein, and Anneliese Ward, 2 great-grandchildren; Melissa and MaryEllen Kasten, 2 sisters, Renata Schultz of Rochester, MN and Nelda (Earl) Trost of Cortez, CO. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Debbie and Sherrie Kasten, 3 sisters, Lydia, Esther and Ella, and 1 brother, Armin.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 27, 3 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 824 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia. The Rev. Robert Zick will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 12-3 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Victor Risch

Mr. Victor J. Risch age 67 years of 229 N. Spring St. Port Washington, passed away Thursday morning, July 10, 2003 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee Campus in Mequon. He was born August 13, 1935 in Lake Church, son of the late Bernard and Theresa Kirst Risch. On June 1, 1957 he married Janet Perronne at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. Victor worked for the Ozaukee County Highway Department for 31 years as a prefabricator. He was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church Lake Church and also enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, boating, playing sheepshead, and riding mopeds. He is survived by his wife Janet of Port Washington, 2 daughters Joy (Richard) Hayward of Port Washington, and Lorie (Daniel) Klumb of Oostburg, 4 grandchildren Felishia and Erin Hayward and Christine and Michael Klumb, 2 brothers Arnold (Helen) Risch of Belgium and Bernard (Joyce) Risch of Port Washington, and 2 sisters his twin sister Victoria Zoellner of Hubertus and Mary Jane (the late Allen) Winters of Sheboygan. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held in remembrance of Victor on Sunday July 13, 2003 at 7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington, with Father James Ernster officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday July 13 from 4 PM until time of services.

Maud McPherson

Mrs. Maude McPerson of North Benjamin St. in Port Washington passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2003. She was 84 years old. Maud was born on August 3, 1918 in Milwaukee, daughter of Henry and Mary Bernard Powers. On November 22, 1941 she was united in marriage with John Robert McPerson at St. Boniface Church in Milwaukee. Mrs. McPherson loved spending her time taking care of her family, and had a deep love for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband John, of Port Washington, their 2 daughters, Patricia (Michael) Draeger of Port Washington and Mary (Gerald) Broitzman of Milwaukee, their 4 grandchildren, Scott Draeger of Port Washington, Jennifer Draeger of Madison, Jerry (Dorothy) Broitzman of Milwaukee and Kristen (Hideo) Kajiwara of Tokyo, Japan. She is further survived by 1 great-grandson, Maximus Kajiwara of Tokyo, Japan and 1 brother, Fred Powers of West Bend. She is preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister.

LEO S. RUSETOS

Mr. Leo Rusetos, age 59 years, died at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee on October 10, 2003. Lee was born on March 7, 1944 in Chicago, IL, son of Leo and Bonita Rusetos. He lived in the Elgin area before coming to live in Milwaukee and eventually the Port Washington area. He and his wife very recently moved to Saukville. Mr. Rusetos served in the US Army, where he was stationed in Vietnam. Lee worked as a car salesman at both Newman Chevrolet in Cedarburg and Frontiers Motors in Franklin before he became disabled. On March 26, 1987 he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Waynert in Las Vegas, NV. In his youth, Lee was quite the musician and was in a few different bands, the most prominent being the Elgin Watchband. He usually played the guitar, but could play just about any instrument with the exception of woodwinds. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Rusetos, and mother-in-law Jean Waynert, both of Saukville. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Private services were held.

OLGA M. SCHUELLER

Mrs. Olga Schueller, age 95 years formerly of Belgium died Friday morning, October 10, 2003 at the Harbor Club in Port Washington where she had been a resident for the past five years. She was born April 27, 1908 in the Town of Belgium, daughter of Henry and Barbara Hemmen Wester. On May 2, 1931 she married Joseph T. Schueller at St. Mary Church in Lake Church. He preceded her in death in 1971. Mrs. Schueller was a supervisor at Lake Church Leather Products in Lake Church for 25 years, retiring in 1973 . She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church, the Christian Women, Belgium Senior Center and was an avid Sheepshead player. She is survived by five children Corinne (Dave) Lebesch of Jacksonville, IL, Rod (Joanne) Schueller of Port Washington, Thomas (Beth) Schueller of Kohler, Marilyn (Robert) Carney of Lake Oswego, OR and Mark (Jan) Schueller of Mequon, 22 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 13, 10:30 am at St. Mary Church, Lake Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave., Belgium Sunday from 4-8 pm and on Monday from 9 – 10 am. Memorials to St. Mary Parish appreciated. Olga’s family would like to thank the entire staff at the Harbor Club for their overwhelming support and care. They made it her home for almost five years.

Kathleen M. Hanley

Kathleen “Kathy” Hanley, age 72 years of Lasata Care Center, Cedarburg, formerly of Wind Lake died Monday, October 6, 2003 at Lasata Care Center where she had been a resident for the past year and a half. She was born September 10, 1931 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late William and Catherine Beitzinger Hanley. Kathy worked at Allen Bradley Co. in Milwaukee for over 30 years before retiring. She is survived by her sister Patricia (Robert) Schmidt of Port Washington, two nephews William (Sue) Schmidt of Belgium and James Schmidt of Eagle, and one niece Lee Ann (Mike) Buyeske of Port Washington, cousins and other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 10, 11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington with Father Allan Sommer officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington Friday after 9 am. Memorials to Lasata Care Center appreciated.

JULIA J. SCHANEN

Julia Schanen, age 91 years of 1268 Hwy. 13, Friendship, WI, formerly of Saukville died Tuesday morning, September 30, 2003 at her residence. She was born October 31, 1911 in Saukville, daughter of John and Hattie Lorence Link. On December 28, 1929 she married William H. Schanen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Washington. He preceded her in death in 1964. Mrs. Schanen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Adams, WI. She was a member of Landt-Thiel American Legion Auxilary, and enjoyed crocheting and baking cookies for her grandchildren. She is survived by 3 children Fritz (Clara) Schanen of Friendship, Ruth (Eugene) Blecha of Wild Rose and Thomas Schanen. She is further survived by 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 1 brother Clarence Link of Port Washington, 1 sister Hattie Peiffer of Saukville, 2 daughters in law Rose Watry and Rosemary Ansty, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday evening, October 3, 7 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Saukville. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation at the CHURCH Friday from 5-7 pm.

Jean F. Veen (formerly Webb)

Mrs. Jean Veen, age 84 years, formerly of the Grafton area, passed away peacefully at Harbor Club in Port Washington early Sunday morning, October 5, 2003. Jean was born November 8, 1918 in Milwaukee, daughter of Elwin and Margaret Flohr Mallory, Jr. Jean raised her family in the Grafton area while managing the fabric department at the Ben Franklin store. She was united in marriage with Hardus Veen Oct. 5, 1974 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington. The couple settled in the Port Washington area. Mrs. Veen enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling and collecting and refinishing antiques. She was also an avid reader. She is survived by her husband Hardus Veen, her son Richard (Edie) Webb, both of Port Washington, daughter-in-law Lois (the late Charles) Veen of South Bend, IN, 7 grandchildren: Amy (Michael) Ciocarelli, Karen (Andrew) Green, Tara (Scott) Pressel, Hardus (Laurie), Paul (Rebecca), Beene (Eva) and Dirk Veen and 17 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by 1 sister-in-law, Angeline Halla of Yankton, SD, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by 2 sisters: Margie Scott and Carol Meyer. Funeral Services will be held at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., in Port Washington, Tuesday at 7PM. Pastor John Klieve will officiate. Interment will take place at Union cemetery, Port Washington. The familt will receive visitors Tuesday evening at the Funeral Home from 4-7 PM. HELEN M. MEHRING

Helen Mehring, age 64 years of 424 Tower Drive, Port Washington died Friday evening, September 5, 2003 at Columbia-St. Mary’s Hospital, Ozaukee Campus in Mequon. She was born August 17, 1939 in Ohio, daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Almassy Pikla. On January 6, 1968 she married Kenneth Mehring at Immaculate Conception Church in Saukville. He preceded her in death in 1991. Helen was library director at the Oscar Grady Library in Saukville from 1987 until retiring in 2002. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington and the Port Washington Senior Citizens. She is survived by her children Gary Mehring of Houston, TX, Nannette (David) Antoine of Grafton, Debra (Doug) Senn of Kent, WA, Dan (Marj) Mehring of Rhinelander, Patricia (Robert) Larsen of Milwaukee, Michael (Sharon) Mehring of Waterford and Jason (Julie) Mehring of Chicago., 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two brothers Philip (Christine) Pikla of Chardon, OH and Andrew Pikla Jr. of California City, CA, and one sister Susan (Michael) Presto of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth and one infant daughter Lisa. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday evening, September 9, 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington with Father Joe Haas officiating. Burial in St. Mary’s cemetery, Saukville. The family will recieve visitors at the Funeral Home Tuesday from 4-7PM.

Mr. Orrin O. "Doc" Voigt

Mr. Orrin O. Voigt, of St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc, formerly of Pewaukee, passed away in Manitowoc on Saturday, August 30, 2003. He was 90 years old. Orrin was born in Batavia, WI on October 4, 1912, son of Oswald and Augusta Mehols Voigt. On August 18, 1938 he was joined in marriage with Genevieve Jungers at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. The couple lived in the Pewaukee are for more than thirty years. Orrin worked in the Pewaukee School District, retiring as the District Administrator. He was a member of the Wisconsin Educators Association, the Catholic Knights, and was a past president of the Schoolmasters Club. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting in his spare time. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve, of Manitowoc, 2 sons, Jerold (Alice) Voigt of Cedarburg and Donald (Mary Ann)Voigt of Port Washington, 1 daughter, Mary Voigt of Williamsburg, VA, 5 grandchildren: Carrie (Dave) Schonhoff of Waterloo, WI, Lisa (Troy) Swanson of Wheaton, IL, Jim (Sara) Voigt of Germantown, Christopher (Kimberly) Voigt of Shorewood and Richard Voigt of Restin, VA, 4 great-grandchildren: Lauren & Lindsay Voigt of Germantown, Sydney Schonhoff of Waterloo and Skylar Voigt of Shorewood. He is further survived by 2 sisters, Alice Kanneberg of Wauwatosa ans Edna Jungers of Stillwater, OK, 1 sister-in-law, Dolores (the late Edward) Sauer of Port Washington and 1 brother-in-law Fred (the late Loretta) Jungers of Appleton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by 1 brother, William. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 4, 7PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Fr. Allan Sommer will officiate. Interment will take place in the St. Nicholas cemetery, Dacada. Visitation will be Thursday. September 4, from 5-7PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Port Washington. NORMAN J. LARGE

Mr. Norman Large, age 67 years of 2724 Northwoods Road, Port Washington died Monday evening, August 18, 2003 at his residence after battling lung cancer for several years. He was born October 14, 1935 in Sheboygan County, son of Helen Weyker Large and the late Harvey Large Sr. On September 8, 1956 he married Patricia Gonwa at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church. He worked as a welder at Trak International in Port Washington for 25 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed collecting sports cards, toy farm machinery and Packer memorabilia. He enjoyed the outdoors particularly hunting, four wheeling and making firewood. He also enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast at River Edge Restaurant in Saukville, going to estate sales, rummage sales, and auctions. He is survived by his wife Patricia, children Jeff (Julie) Large of Port Washington, Randy (Lisa) Large of Saukville, Craig Large, Lisa (Tom) Melichar and Connie (Mark) Mueller all of Port Washington, 12 grandchildren, his mother Helen Large of Grafton, 3 brothers Donald (Lorraine), Eugene (Shirley) and George (Sandra) Large, all of Port Washington. He was preceded in death by his son Rick, father Harvey Sr. and brother Harvey Large Jr. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday evening, August 22, 7:30 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Washington with Father Allan Sommer officiating. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington Friday from 4-7 PM. Memorials appreciated.

RUTH H. ZIEGER

Mrs. Ruth Zieger, age 78, formerly of Saukville, Port Washington and Townsend area, passed away at Mequon Care Center in Mequon, WI on Sunday. August 17, 2003. Ruth was born April 24, 1925 in Milwaukee, daughter of William and Edna Lamp Zweigler. She grew up in the Milwaukee - Waukesha area, graduating from Custer High School. She married Aurthur Betzhold in Milwaukee in 1948. The couple had seven children together. On April 21, 1969 she married Ernst Zieger in Port Washington. The couple lived in Saukville before moving to the Townsend area, where they remained until 1986. After Ernst died, Ruth moved to Port Washington. She has resided in Mequon for the last three years. Mrs. Zieger was a member at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, sewing, knitting, bowling and staying involved with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her seven children: Daniel Betzhold, Terry Betzhold of Oregon, Ardell Betzhold of Milwaukee, Donna McIntosh of Arizona, Sharon (Donald) Kroll of Cedar Grove, Joyce Slezak of Saukville and Judith (Michael) Ralph of Gillett, 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is further survived by 3 brothers: Eugene, Richard and Wayne (Terri) Zweigler, 2 sisters: Marcella Thiel and Dolores (Paul) Kosmedar, all of the Menomonee Falls area, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at 7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington. Ruth will be laid to rest next to Ernst at Immanuel cemetery, Cedarburg. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, on Wednesday August 20, 2003 from 5-7 PM.

ARLEEN M. SCHULTZ

Mrs. Arleen M. Schultz, age 87 years, of 5555 Cedar Bay Drive, West Bend, formerly of Saukville, passed away in the early morning hours of March 26, 2003 at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital in West Bend. Arleen was born in Milwaukee on October 16, 1915, daughter of the late Arthur and Myrtle Larsen Stage. On August 1, 1936 she married LaFern Schultz at Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington. Mrs. Schultz was a homemaker, raising the couples’ four children. She was a former member of St. Peter’s UCC in Saukville where she sang in the choir, and a current member of Friedens Church in Port Washington, a member of the Friedens Afternoon Guild, a Cedar Lake Volunteer, and also enjoyed going for walks, gardening, cooking and baking. Mrs. Schultz is survived by her daughter Joy Ann (William) Flannigan of Saukville, 3 sons Glen R. (Maryanne) Schultz of Wapiti, WY, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Schultz of Cottage Grove, WI and Gerald Schultz of Green Bay, WI, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded into death by her husband LaFern, and 1 brother Wesley Stage. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 29, 2003, 1 PM at Friedens Evangelical Church 454 N. Milwaukee St. Port Washington, with Rev. Mark Voll officiating. Burial will be in the Union cemetery in Port Washington. Visitation at the CHURCH Saturday from 11 AM until time of services. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family.
