Ruth Jaquish

Ruth Jaquish, 71 years, of Port Washington, went to the Lord Sunday March 23, 2003 at her son’s home in Kenosha. She was born September 26, 1931 in Port Washington, daughter of the late Ray and Alice Blumenberg Gahan. On January 13, 1951 she married Jack Jaquish in Port Washington. He preceded her in death in May of 1959. Ruth got remarried in Hawaii in on February 13, 1975 to Henry Blasing. He passed away in February of 1991.

Ruth worked for many years at Smith Brothers Restaurant in Port Washington as the kitchen manager, and before that was self-employed. Ruth enjoyed helping people, and has been described as a “people person”. Her other joys in life included gardening, bird-watching and her dogs.

She is survived by her son Patrick (Christine) Jaquish of Kenosha, daughter-in-law Mary Jaquish of Oostburg, stepdaughter Bonnie (Don) Lunde of Port Washington, stepson Bob (Barbara) Blasing of Port Washington, 7 grandchildren; Ian Jaquish, Sean Jaquish, Daniel Jaquish, USN GM3, and Alex Jaquish, USN SA, and Erica and Sarah Lunde, 3 brothers Raymond (Barbara) Gahan of West Bend, Frank (Joann) Gahan, and John Gahan both of Port Washington, and 3 sisters Lucille Ikner of Milwaukee, Margie Istri of Lake Charles, LA, and Rosemary Mudak of Herman Town, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her two husbands and her son Daniel Jaquish.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington on Saturday, March 29 at 7 PM, with Pastor Mike Calacci of Lake County, IL officiating. A gathering of friends and family will take place Saturday from 4 PM until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to “The Root of Jesus Ministries” 211 56th St. Kenosha, WI 53140 are suggested.

Dolores A. Bowe

Mrs. Dolores A. Bowe of Sheboygan, formerly of Chilton and Dacada passed away in the evening hours of Friday August 15, 2003 at her daughter’s home in Sheboygan. She was born January 26, 1924 in the Town of Holland, daughter of the late Hubert and Mary Hamm Didier. She attended St. Nicholas grade school in Dacada and Port Washington High School, graduating in 1941. On April 12, 1944 she married Raymond Schuessler at St. Nicholas Church in Dacada. The couple farmed in the area until his sudden death in 1966. On September 18, 1976 she married Harold Bowe, moving with him to Chilton. He also preceded her in death in 1992. Dolores was a member of Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Sheboygan, a member of the St. Nicholas Christian Mothers, the Sheboygan Senior Citizens and the Apostolate of the Suffering. Mrs. Bowe’s hobbies included visiting her friends and neighbors, going for long walks, reading, playing cards and quilting. She is survived by her 3 children Joseph (Darlene) Schuessler of Saukville, Paul (Katherine) Schuessler of Random Lake and Mary (Leo) Schneider of Sheboygan, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by 2 brothers Roman and Edward (Laura) Didier, both of Port Washington, 3 sisters Rose Lang of West Bend, Leona Kaker of Port Washington and Germaine Bowe of Wauwatosa, 1 stepson Bob (Dorothy) Reif of Hilbert, her special friend Florence Bowen of Sheboygan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, 1 grandchild Leora Schneider, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Richard Cerpich on Tuesday August 19, 2003 10:30 AM at Our Lady of The Lakes Catholic Church, St. Nicholas Chapel on highway K in Dacada. Burial will be in St. Nicholas cemetery. Visitation will be Monday August 18 4-7 M at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave. Belgium, and again Tuesday morning at the church from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. The family wishes to thank St. Nicholas Hospice caregivers for their support and care. Ralph O. Klein

Mr. Ralph Klein, age 82 years of W4196 Hwy. A, Waubeka, died Saturday morning, August 9, 2003 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. He was born September 7, 1920 in the Town of Farmington, Washington County, son of the late Otto and Ella Frauenheim Klein. He was a 1938 graduate of West Bend High School and married Alice Stern on May 31, 1947 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Waubeka. She preceded him in death in 1985. Mr. Klein worked as a tool and die maker at West Bend Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Paul’s Community Church in Waubeka, an honorary member of the Waubeka Fire Department, a former leader with the Waubeka 4-H Club, a member of Kettle Moraine Stamp and Coin Club, a charter member of the National Flag Day Foundation, a member of the Belgium and Fredonia Senior Citizens, was an amateur magician, enjoyed fishing, music, visiting with family and friends and eating out. He is survived by his daughter Lila (Denis) Mueller of Belgium, 2 sons Roger (Joan) Klein of West Bend and Gary (Dawn) Klein of Sheboygan, four grandchildren Lyn Mueller, Ryan Mueller (fiancé Julie Hook), Sarah and Emily Klein, his special friend Emily Urmanski, 1 brother-in-law Norman (Shirley) Stern, his nephew Glenn (Samantha) Stern and niece Sandi Stern, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and 2 sisters Dorothy Hartmann and Lucille Klein. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2003 11 AM at St. Paul’s Community Church, Waubeka with Rev. David Jerger and Rev. Paul O. Hanson officiating. Interment will be in Fillmore Union cemetery. Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave. Belgium Wednesday from 4-8 PM and at the CHURCH Thursday after 10 AM. Memorials to the National Flag Day Foundation appreciated.

MRS. ELLEN REITER

Ellen Reiter, age 87 years of 425 W. Walters St., Port Washington died Monday, August 11, 2003 at St. Mary’s Hospice in Milwaukee where she had resided for the past several days. She was born April 22, 1916 in Saskatchewan, Canada, daughter of the late James and Laura Wolf Turvey. On November 17, 1936 she married Arthur Reiter at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. The couple operated a clothing store in Plymouth, retiring in 1975. He preceded her in death August 25, 2002. Mrs. Reiter is survived by one sister Agnes (Charles) Wolf of Port Washington, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Following cremation, a memorial Mass will be held on Thursday evening, August 14, 7:30 pm at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington with Father Joseph Haas officiating. Burial of cremains will be at St. Mary’s cemetery, Port Washington. The family will receive friends in the parish hall following the services. Memorials to St. Peter’s Parish or Port Catholic Schools appreciated. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

George W. Wiedenmeier

Mr. George Wiedenmeier, of Chateau Court, Grafton, died at the home of his son in Saukville Thursday afternoon, August 14, 2003. George was born June 15, 1914 in Fond du Lac, son of Joseph and Caroline Trummer Wiedenmeier. In 1942 he entered the US Army Air Force and served overseas with the 496th Bomb Squadron, 334th Bomb Group. He fought offensive air campaigns in Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. He was discharged in October of 1945. On June 24, 1949 he was united in marriage to Helen Baldwin in beaver Dam. George held a degree in PackageEngineering from Purdue University. He was a member at Open Door Bible Church in Port Washington, belonged to The Gideons International and enjoyed golf. He is survived by his children, Dr. Linda Baldwin of California, Susan (Ronald) Krueger) of Cedarburg and George (the late Barbara) Wiedenmeier of Saukville. He is further survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen, 2 grandsons, Eric and Benjamin Weidenmeier, 1 brother, Frank, and 3 sisters, Norma, Elda and Estelle. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2003, 7:30 PM at Open Door Bible Church, 3420 Hwy LL, Port Washington, with Pastor Sid Litke officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Grafton. Visitation will take place at the Funeral Home Thursday, August 21, 2003 from 4-7PM. The family suggests memorials to Open Door Bible Church or The Gideons International.

EDNA M. SACKETT

Mrs. Edna Sackett, age 82 years of 3420 S. Main St., Newburg died Thursday, August 14, 2003 at Sunny Springs Assisted Living in Port Washington where she had been a resident for the past year. She was born September 9, 1920 in Mountain, WI, daughter of the late Charles and Anna Petz Minkel. On June 14, 1941 she married Russell Sackett in Townsend, WI. He preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Sackett worked as a punch press operator for Attaco Steel Co. in Grafton for 28 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton She enjoyed golfing, gardening and baking. She is survived by her son William (Kathleen) Sackett of Newburg, her daughter Diane (Dennis) Jung of Port Washington, four grandchildren Timothy (Kelly) Sackett, Mark (friend Kym Frederickson) Sackett, Tina (Ken) Krause and Lisa (fiancé Jordan Rathke) Jung, three great grandchildren Taylor and Colin Sackett and Kirsten Krause, one sister Emma Giese of Saukville, three sisters in law Isabelle Sackett of Beaver Dam, Norine Ross of LaPine, OR and Lorraine Minkel. She was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and one grandson Brian Jung. Funeral services will be Monday August 18, 11 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton with Pastor John Suelflow officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington Sunday from 4-7 pm and at the CHURCH Monday after 10 AM. James L. McMullin

Mr. James L. McMullin age 62 years of Fredonia, passed away Friday August 8, 2003 at his residence after a lengthy battle with ALS. He was born September 30, 1940 in Sparta, WI son of the late William and Ina Munson McMullin. He graduated from Sparta High School in 1959, and went on to attend a tech school in La Crosse. In 1968 he opened Saks Furniture in Grafton, later moving the business to Cedarburg until 1999. Jim was dedicated to his business, and serving his customers. He married Judy Yench on August 23, 1975 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton. Jim was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lakefield, a lifelong member of Valley Lodge # 60 F&AM; of Sparta, a founding member of the Grafton Chamber of Commerce, member of the Grafton Jaycees, and a charter member of the Five Corners Lions Club. He enjoyed working outdoors, and was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR Racing. Mr. McMullin is survived by his wife Judy, daughters Cara and Marnie of Fredonia and Dana of Madison. He is further survived by sisters Idonis McMullin of Golden Valley, MN, Delores (Howard) Logan of Lake Oswego, OR and Sandra McMullin of Germantown, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Gerald and Stuart and mother and father-in-law Ralph and Joan Yench. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2003 7 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church 1193 Lakefield Rd. Grafton, with Rev. Robert McClelland officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 4 PM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to ALS Association, SE WI Chapter, 2421 N. HERBERT C. BARTELT

Herbert Bartelt, age 84 years of 907 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington died Saturday, August 2, 2003 at St. Michael’s Hospital, Milwaukee where he had been a patient. He was born March 15, 1919 in Mequon, son of the late Herman and Minna Schultz Bartelt. He worked as a machinist at Simplicity Mfg. for 40 years. On August 20, 1943 he married Vivian Bruggink at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1969. On October 5, 1973 he married Eunice DeBroux Dohrwardt at Friedens Church in Port Washington. She preceded him in death in April, 2003. Mr. Bartelt was a WW II Air Force veteran, a member of Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington, IAM Local 1430 and Royal Neighbors of America Saukville Camp. Herbert is survived by 2 sons Robert (Barbara) of Port Washington and Ronald (Lauren) Bartelt of Saukville, stepchildren David Dohrwardt of Milwaukee, Donald (Lisa) Dohrwardt of Fredonia, Dollie (Todd) Mullins of Keensburg, IL, Darlene (Kenneth) Harvey of Plymouth and Darrell (Debra) Dohrwardt of Saukville, 24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 sister Delores Leppla of Port Washington, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, six brothers, two step grandsons and one great granddaughter. Funeral services Wednesday August 6, 2 pm at Friedens Evangelical Church, 454 N. Milwaukee St., Port Washington with Rev. Mark Voll officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation at the CHURCH Wednesday from noon until 2 pm. TODD R. SHERWAN

Mr. Todd Sherwan, of Husting St. in Port Washington, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on August 1, 2003. He was 58 years old. Mr. Sherwan was born in Milwaukee on May 21, 1945, son of Earl and Marguerite Stewart Sherwan. He entered the US Air Force and served in the Philippines, returning to the states in 1971. Todd worked with his family in the manufacture and sales of artwork, mainly in shipping and production, serving a short time as president of the business. Recently he had been working at George Webb’s. Mr. Sherwan enjoyed tinkering with his 1948 Chrystler and his old boat, enjoyed art in many forms, and was frequently doodling on napkins and scraps of paper. He also liked just getting together with his friends. He is survived by 2 daughter, Victoria Sherwan of Sheboygan and JoAnn Sherwan of Plymouth, 1 granddaughter, Kaitlin Hunter of Plymouth and mother, Marguerite Sherwan of Port Washington. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Earl. Private family services were held. ANNE E. PARADEIS

Anne Paradeis, age 61 years of 1011 Crestview Drive, Port Washington died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at Columbia-St. Mary’s Hospital, Ozaukee Campus. She was born March 19, 1942 in Port Washington, daughter of the late Clarence and Maxine Emery St. Peter. On Jan. 18, 1969 she married Ron Paradeis in Port Washington. Anne was the former activities director for Harbor Club in Port Washington. She was the organizer for the annual American Cancer Society auction, enjoyed horseback riding, making wreaths and bows, golfing, reading, cards, and was one of the founders of the Port Washington Athletic Booster Club. She is survived by her husband Ron, son Todd (Susie) Paradeis of New York City, 2 daughters Julie (Peter) Smith of Merton, WI and Jill (Matthew) Wilbert of Wild Rose, WI, grandchildren Seika, Jaclyn, Nicholas and Alexsey, sister Barb (Jack) Casper of Sun Lake, AZ, 2 brothers John (Sandy) St. Peter of Belgium and Fred St. Peter of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Wednesday eve. July 30, 7:30 pm at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington with Father Joe Haas officiating. Burial in St. Mary’s cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation at Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington Wednesday from 4-7 pm. Dennis Nemitz

Mr. Dennis A. Nemitz, of First Street in Belgium, formerly of Port Washington, passed away Wednesday evening, July 30, 2003 at Columbia – St. Mary’s Ozaukee Campus in Mequon, surrounded by his family. He was 59 years old. Dennis was born in Port Washington on November 13, 1943, son of Arnold C. and Adela Frank Nemitz. On October 8, 1966, he was united in marriage to Karen Knuth at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington. Dennis worked at the Ozaukee Press as a graphic artist until 1995. He most recently worked for the W.O. Hoard Co. of Fort Atkinson. Mr. Nemitz was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Grafton, and was very involved in church activities, holding every office except president and sang in the choir. He enjoyed woodworking and was known for the beautiful hand carved wood signs that hang at the church, including the two large ones outside. He also enjoyed art and photography and was a volunteer at Riveredge Nature Center. Dennis is survived by his wife, Karen, of Belgium, their daughter Wendy (Rev. Martin) Luchterhand or Bozeman, MT, 3 grandsons, Aaron, Benjamin and Caleb Luchterhand, also of Bozeman, MT, his mother-in-law, Dorene Knuth of Port Washington, brother-in-law Donald (Renee’) Knuth of Port Washington, sister-in-law Joyce Nemitz of Fort Meyers, FL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arnold Jr., 2 infant brothers, Gordon and Vernon, and an infant sister, Marlys. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 3, 2003, 2 PM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1332 Arrowhead Rd., Grafton. Pastor Mark Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in Zur Ruhe cemetery, Cedarburg. The family will receive visitors at the church Sunday from 2-6PM. Memorials to the family are suggested. JOYCE G. LORENCE

Mrs. Joyce Lorence, a resident at Encore Senior Villa on Indiana Avenue in Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at the age of 74 years. Joyce was born on July 4th, 1929 in Milwaukee, daughter of Pearl Zylka. On May 12, 1951 she was united in marriage with Ervin Lorence at Gloria Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The couple moved to Cedarburg in 1964 and to the Fredonia area in 1974, where they remained for almost 30 years before they took up residence in Sheboygan. Joyce was renowned for her skills as a homemaker, mother and wife. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, gardening and was good with the animals her family kept. She was an avid reader and was a very active member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Random Lake. Mrs. Lorence is survived by her loving husband, Ervin, of Sheboygan, their three children, Kathleen (Stephen) Christenson of Deronda, Cynthia (Stuart) Hoeft of Green Bay and William (Kathleen) Lorence of Grafton, 8 grandchildren: Michael, David, Marie, Melissa, Nicholas, Amy, Sara and Ryan, 5 great-grandchildren: Paige, Sofia, Taylor, Alexander and Samuel, 2 sisters-in-law, Virginia (Bruce) Walters of Oconomowoc and Eleanor (The late Robert) Lorence of Cedarburg. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral Services for Joyce will be held Saturday, July 26th, 11 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 705 W. Grand Ave., Random Lake with Rev. Ned Dorau officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday, July 25th at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. (nee Bichler) PORT WASHINGTON July 19, 2003 age 74 years, beloved wife of the late Ralph Ryer, dear mother of Dennis (Rosanne) Ryer, Donna (Brian) Lubnow and Renee (Tim) Peplinski, loving grandma of Jennifer (Dustin) Gage, Kathryn (Alex) Tignor, Megan and Erin Ryer, Jessica and Rebecca Lubnow, great grandma of Carson, Eric and John, also survived by 2 sisters Joan (Ward) Braby and Mary Ann (Wayne) Peterson, other relatives and friends. Funeral Wednesday eve. July 23, 7 pm from the Eernisse Funeral Home to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Washington for Mass at 7:30 pm. Entombment St. Mary’s Mausoleum. In state Wednesday from 4-7 pm with a parish rosary service Wednesday at 4 pm. Memorials to the American Lung Association appreciated.

ARVIN D. BENNETT

Mr. Arvin Bennett, age 84 years, of Freistadt Road in Thiensville, passed away at Columbia- St. Mary’s Hospital, Ozaukee Campus in Mequon on Friday morning, June 27, 2003. Arvin was born in Kentucky on October 5, 1918, son of Letcher and Alice Hoover Bennett. He was one of seven children. On August 16, 1941, Mr. Bennett was united in marriage to Ms. Katherine Hildebrandt in Evanston, IL. The couple eventually moved to Wisconsin. At the age of 65, Arvin retired from his job as a Quality Control Inspector at Evenrude Marine Motors. Mr. Bennett was a very active member of Ozaukee Baptist Church, were he was a past deacon, as well as a proud member of the NRA and the Saukville Gun Club. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his children, Arthur Bennett of Thiensville and Arlene (Charles JR.) Heeren of Saukville, 4 grandchildren: Merri Kay & Charles Heeren III, Kirk and Matthew Bennett. HE is further survived by 1 sister, Elsie (Robert) Ricks of Michigan, 2 brothers Glenn (Beth) Bennett of Eagle River and Robert (Karen) Bennett of Lowell, MI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Katherine and 3 brothers: Leonard, Harold and Lester. Funeral Services will be held for Mr. Bennett on Thursday, July 3, 2003 1 PM at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Avenue, Port Washington. Pastor Travis Graf will officiate. Arvin will be intered next to his wife at Immanuel cemetery in Cedarburg. Elvira Cheek

Mrs. Elvira Cheek, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away on June 26, 2003 at the age of 82 years. Elvira was born on March 11, 1921 in Milwaukee, daughter of Julius and Dorothy Geiger Pellegrini. On March 22, 1942 she married James Anthony Cheek in Monterey, CA. She spent time working at Wells Fargo and Boston Store. Mrs. Cheek was a member of the Kettle Moraine Golden Lansers, the Latinaires Dance Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a former member of the All Saints Lutheran ELCA. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, walking, dancing, gardening, painting with watercolors. Mrs. Cheek is survived by her children Barbara (Dan) Johnson of Delafield and Jim Cheek of Waukesha, grandchildren Tony Cheek Julie Johnson, both of Milwaukee, and Michael (Laura) Johnson of Washington DC. She is further survived by 2 sisters, Gloria Pettersen and Anita Wallrath, both of Milwaukee. She is preceded in death by her husband and 1 sister, Shirley Rudolph.

Angeline Mallinger

Mrs. Angeline Mallinger age 86 years of Hales Corners, formerly of the Town of Belgium, passed away unexpectedly June 16, 2003 at her residence.

She was born on July 31, 1916 in Watertown, daughter of the late Francis and Josephine Weiers Schleicher. On September 17, 1938 she married Jacob Mallinger at St. George Catholic Church in Six Corners. The couple farmed in the Town of Belgium for many years. Angeline also worked as a sewing machine operator at Allen-Edmonds in Lake Church for many years.

Mrs. Mallinger is a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church and a former member of the Christian Women. She also enjoyed needlework, crocheting, canning, playing cards and she loved dancing.

Angeline is survived by 4 sons, Thomas (Mary) of Austin, TX, Robert (Kathy) of Warren, OH, Gene (Rebecca) of Brookfield, and Herb (Susan) of Franklin. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers Jerome (Evelyn) Schleicher, Ralph (Mary Alice) Schleicher and Leo (Katherine) Schleicher all of Six Corners, 1 sister-in-law Ann Schleicher of Six Corners, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday evening, June 19, 2003 at 7 PM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church with father James Ernster officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the CHURCH on Thursday from 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the American Cancer Society. Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium is assisting the family.
