MADISON - Kathryn Anne Franklin, age 56, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. Johnson, Robert Marion

BARABOO - Robert Marion Johnson of Baraboo passed away on Monday, June 30, 2008, at St. Clare Hospital, at the age of 82. Survivors include his brother, George (Bernadine) Johnson of Mount Horeb; cousins; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, with Pastor Thomas Fricke officiating. Burial will follow in Tucker cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Johnsrud, Caryl M.

MADISON - Caryl M. Johnsrud, age 80, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2008. She was born on July 16, 1927, the daughter of Cecil and Esther (Nimmow) Anderson. Caryl graduated from Madison East High School. She was united in marriage to Merlin "Johnny" Johnsrud in 1948, in Iowa City, Iowa. They were lifetime residents of Madison and their marriage of 49 years was blessed with four children, Doug, Debbie, Diane, and Dean. Caryl worked in food service at Edgewood High School and at concession stands at the Dane County Coliseum and UW-Madison Field House. Her love for cute little mice was appreciated by all who knew her. Over a 25 year span, she was given more than 800 collectible mice, in the form of figurines, stuffed animals, clothing and more. Caryl enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and making crafts, especially butterfly items. She was a Brownie leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. Caryl will be remembered by her family for having a quick wit, her love, generosity, creativeness, thriftiness, strength, feistiness, as a good cook, and who built a family to cherish her loving memory. Caryl is survived by her loving children, Doug (Judy) Johnsrud, Diane Davis, and Dean Johnsrud; grandchildren, Tara (Josh), Tiffany (Pete), Aaron, Courtney, Deanna, and Andy; great-grandchildren, KayLee, Bella and Sunday; her mother, Esther Anderson; son-in-law, Earl Borreson; brother, Don Anderson and family of Kentucky; and many special family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Anderson in 1992; husband, Merlin Johnsrud in 1997; daughter, Debbie in 2002; and an infant sister. Private memorial services will be held. Krohm, Bernadette Louise (Schlax)

MADISON - Bernadette Louise Krohm (Schlax), age 60, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, and has now found peace with God after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Bernadette (Bunny) was born on March 21, 1948, in Chicago and is the fourth of nine children to the late William and Leone (Musket) Schlax. Bunny was married to Gregory Krohm on Dec. 27, 1969. Her love of children inspired her to become a teacher. She nurtured four of her own children, and numerous others that think of her as a "second mom." Whether in the classroom or home, she remained a teacher until the day she died. She loved to travel and cherished the adventure trips with her family. She had a passion for arts and crafts, a talent she has passed onto her children and grandchildren. She was adored by her family and friends and was always the first one to lend a helping hand, to be the shoulder to cry on, or jump for joy. She is survived by her husband, Gregory Krohm; daughter, Vickie (Garrick); son, Daniel; son, Anthony (Virginia); and daughter, Adrienne (Matthew); granddaughters, Monique and Isabelle; sister, Elizabeth (John); brothers, the Rev. Charles, William, James (Barbara), Thomas (Nan), Donald (Jeanne), Robert (Laurie) and Timothy (Mary); and 19 nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, William Schlax; mother, Leone (Musket) Schlax; and nephew, Jonathan Schlax. We can not express in words our gratitude for the support, care and compassion shown to Bunny and her family by the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare. Our hearts go out in gratitude to the many family members and friends that surrounded Bunny with love, compassion and prayers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BRODHEAD - Korbin W. Moe, age 12 days, infant son of Timothy and Jessica Moe, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born June 17, 2008, in Madison. He is survived by his parents, Timothy and Jessica Moe; twin brother, Asher; maternal grandfather, Mark Laube, all of Brodhead; paternal grandparents, Karen (Melvin) Rouse of Beloit, and Richard (Yvonne) Moe of Norwalk, Ohio; maternal great-grandparents, Granada Laube of Brodhead, Delores Hockmuth of Brodhead, Wayne (Betty) Creasey of Brodhead, and Velma Moe of Juda; and aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Anita Laube. LONE ROCK - Clara F. Olson, age 94, of Lone Rock passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Pine Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Dec. 17, 1913, in Bear Creek Township, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Kaul) Ringelstetter. She was married on Feb. 1, 1936, to Enoch Olson. Survivors include two children, Arden (Joanne) Olson of Lone Rock and Barbara Perry of Aurora, Colo.; four grandchildren, Tim Olson of Lake Villa, Ill., Cindy Moseman of Elgin, Ill., Jennifer Meyers of Woodstock, Ill., and Michelle Heineman of Aurora, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Norma Ringelstetter of Lone Rock, Carol Ringelstetter of Spring Green, and Irene Olson of Richland Center; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Ringelstetter; her husband, Enoch Olson; and nine siblings. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the RICHARDSON-STAFFORD FUNERAL HOME in Spring Green. The Rev. Roesler, Esther J.

SUN PRAIRIE - Esther J. Roesler, age 85, of Sun Prairie, died on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born in La Crosse on Sept. 17, 1922, the daughter of Seatse and Carrie (Vanderploeg) Stapert. She was united in marriage to Wilbert F. Roesler on Jan. 19, 1943, in Charleston, S.C. While living in the Baraboo area, Esther worked at Central Wisconsin Center in Madison as a nurse's assistant from 1963 until 1981. She enjoyed horses, knitting, crocheting, sewing, card playing and traveling. She and Wilbert traveled to many places, visiting friends and family. She always made many friends wherever she was. She was a very caring and fun lady who will be missed by all. She always taught that it is important to forgive and forget and lived by that. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. Esther is survived by her husband, Wilbert of Sun Prairie; son, Frank (Diane) Roesler, their children, Mary (Lee) Moss, William (Jamie) Roesler; great-grandchildren, Cassandra Flores, Dominique Moss, and Shelby and Willow Roesler; son, Jerry (Pam) Roesler, their children, Jonathan and Carrie; great-grandchildren, Mathew Roesler and Deja Bass; daughter, Gina (Tom) Senger, their children, Aryn, Amanda and Nehemiah; and her siblings, Theresa Kenyon, Adeline Krumm, Delia Raffelson, Margie Alens, LaVera Erickson, John Stapert and Wayne Stapert. Esther was preceded in death by siblings, Jacob Stapert, Elmer Stapert, Ethel Gongeir and Caroline Evenson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008, at noon at the SCHUMACHER-KISH FUNERAL HOME of La Crosse. The Rev. Ted Dewald will officiate. Burial will take place in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

MADISON - Linda M. Starck, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 29, 2008. She was born on Oct. 16, 1957, the daughter of Alvin and Joanne Starck. Linda is survived by her parents; sister, Connie (Jerry) Endres; three
brothers, Daniel (Elaine), Joseph and Michael; and nieces and nephews, Christy, Shawn, Lee and Sara. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bessie Jasper and Earl Shaul. Private family services will be held.

Thier, Jean D.

LANCASTER - Jean D. Thier, age 77, of Lancaster, died on Monday, June 30, 2008, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on Feb. 20, 1931, in Lancaster, the daughter of Kenneth and Nellie (Cox) Vesperman. Jean attended school at Farview Township and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1948. On Oct. 15, 1949, Jean was united in marriage to William R. "Bill" Thier, Jr., at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Jean was employed at Bailey Oil Company from 1948 until 1967. She then was employed at the Grant Community Clinic from 1968 until her retirement in 1993. During retirement, Jean and Bill spent the winters in Florida for 10 years. She and Bill liked to fish, camp, and go boating. Jean loved to babysit her nephews and niece. Jean was a member of the Congregational Church in Lancaster. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Doris Ann Vesperman of Lancaster; six nephews, John (Diane) Vesperman of Lancaster, Jeff (Lori) Vesperman of Fennimore, Joel (Renee) Vesperman of Lancaster, Jay Vesperman of Lancaster, Jim (Amy) Vesperman of Platteville, and Jerry (friend, Adina) Vesperman of Belmont; and a niece, Jennifer (friend Matt) Vesperman of Lancaster. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill on Dec. 4, 2007; and a brother, Gerald "Jake" Vesperman in August 1994. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME in Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Lancaster. Widerski, Ted Chester

CAMBRIDGE - Ted Chester Widerski, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at his home in Cambridge. He was born on July 22, 1951, the son of Edith (Hawthorne) and Chester Widerski. He graduated from Whitnall High School in Hales Corners in 1969 and went on to UW-Madison, where he received a bachelor's degree in math education in 1973. In 1976 he received a master's degree in math education from UW-Milwaukee. Ted was the first in his family to graduate from college. Ted married the former Georgiana Lowe in 1969, and they were married for 16 years. He later married Jennifer Fagan on June 11, 1993 in Waterloo, Wis. Ted is survived by his wife, Jennifer Fagan; son, Alec (Rhenna) Widerski of Cottage Grove; daughter, Ellen Widerski of Cambridge; stepdaughter, Katherine Stanton of Fitchburg; and stepson, David Stanton of Port Washington. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Widerski. Through his work as a very caring and passionate teacher (high school math) he touched a lot of lives over many years. Ted had a great love for teaching and working with kids. He started out his teaching career in Green Bay, Wis. in 1973, where he spent one year as a high school math teacher. The following year, he transferred to Waterloo Junior and Senior High Schools, where he taught math and served as assistant principal and later, principal, for more than 22 years. The last 12 years of his career were spent in Madison schools, where he served as a math resource teacher for two years, and later, as a math teacher at La Follette High School for more than seven years. During the past thre years, he was a Talented and Gifted teacher, working with some of the brightest kids in the Madison school district. Many of his former students have gone on to teaching careers of their own. Ted also gave generously of his free time, serving as etreasurer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waterloo for 10 years, and later, as treasurer at Grace Lutheran Church in Cambridge for three years. Since 2006, Ted has been serving as a member of the Examining Board of Architects, Landscape Architects, Professional Engineers, and Designers and Land Surveyors for the State of Wisconsin. Visitation is on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the NITARDY FUNERAL HOME in Cambridge. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Cambridge, the Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth (433 West Washington Ave., Madison, WI 53703), or the Greater Dane County Talented and Gifted Network (900 E. Garfield, Mount Horeb, WI 53572).

Bissell, Margaret J. (Nee Anderson)

FORD, WASH. - Margaret J. Bissell passed away June 28, 2008, at age 75 in Ford, Wash. She was born March 5, 1933, in the Town of Primrose. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles R. Bissell. Four children also survive her, Charles R. Jr. and Elizabeth Dawn of Ford, Michael Scott of Spokane and Dianna Lynn of Auburn, Calif. She also has
six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She is the sister of Valeria Feller of Verona, Russell Anderson of Waunakee, and Dean M. Anderson of Waterford, and the late Virginia Mimetz of Verona. Memorials to your local Hospice. Funeral services were held yesterday.

Franklin, Kathryn Ann

MADISON - Kathryn Ann Franklin, age 56, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Madison after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Oct. 8, 1951, in Dodgeville, the daughter of Melford and Darlene (Schaaf) Franklin. Kathy was a 1969 graduate of Darlington High School and for more than 35 years she worked at Litho Productions in Madison before starting her own home care business. Kathy loved jewelry and enjoyed adding to her collection which contributed to her always classy look, which in turn, led to her being the "coolest aunt". She was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching the Packers, but treasured most the time she spent with her family and friends. Her positive attitude and fighting spirit during her illness was an inspiration to all of us. Her warm smile and caring spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Kathy will be remembered always and dearly missed by her parents, Melford and Darlene Franklin; four sisters, Debby (Bill) Barnes of Sun Prairie, Corrine (Ernie) Osheim of Ripon, Karen (Bill) Mirr and Patti Jo (Michael) Horn all of Berlin; nieces and nephews, Leslie Deuchars, Kevin Barnes, Abby Barnes, John Mirr, Sarah Mirr, Chris Dolata, Corey Horn, Jenna Horn, a special friend, "A.J." Allen Jelle of Belleville; as well as many other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 10 A.M. on Saturday, July 5, 2008, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus cemetery, Berlin at 2 p.m. Family and friends may call at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2008, where a Scripture Service will be held at 4 p.m. Family and friends may also call on Saturday, July 5, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Gold, James Thomas

MADISON - James Thomas Gold ("Jim Gold"- Builder), age 72, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, July 1, 2008. After a long courageous battle with cancer, the angels carried James T. Gold to heaven. Jim was a life long Madison resident. He enjoyed Picnic Point and the Madison lakes even as a 5 year old. He enjoyed the company of others and did his best to get people to smile. Jim was a prominent home builder whose legacy lives on in the many Dane County homes he built in the 40 plus years of his career. He has been the Badgers No. 1 fan for years. Jim is survived and will be greatly missed by his children, Heather (James) Ledin, Melissa (Matthew) Sacco, and Amy Gold and their mother, Bonny (Don) Forkner; as well as his grandchildren, Meghan and Collin Ledin, Bryanna, Mackenzie, Adrian, Ryan, and Stefan Sacco. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice L. Gold and Eleanor C. McKune; sibling, Alice M. Smith; and aunt, Edna Gold. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Center for the loving care they gave during Jim's final days. They would also like to express their gratitude to Dr. Matthew Crowe, Dr. Tyler Stewart and the entire VA staff for their caring, compassionate ways with the family and our Dad. To Otto Krueger, you're a blessing to us all. Thank you.
