Michael William Murphy
Michael "Mike" William Murphy, age 67, died at his home in White Pine, MI, on March 23, 2005.
He was born May 1, 1937 in Rhinelander to William and Leafy (Frasier) Murphy.
He attended Rhinelander schools and enter military service in 1955.
He married
Marianne Elsner of Germany in 1959. He retired from the Air Force in 1976 after serving 21 years.
He had been stationed in France, Germany, Morocco, Laos, the Phillipines, and served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
He was a member of the Walter Dulin Chapter 62 of the Disabled American Veterans of Rhinelander.
He served as chairman of the Forget-Me-Not fundraiser for many years.
He received several pins of recognition for transporting veterans to VA hospitals.
He was a long-standing member of the AA. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and traveling.
He spent several happy winters in Weslaco, Texas.
Survivors include two sons, Steven (Pat) Murphy and Timothy (Nancy Revill) Murphy both of San Antonio, Texas; a granddaughter, Brittany of San Antonio; a brother, Richard (Pam) Anderson of Lac du Flambeau; a brother-in-law, Glen "Tom" Wood of Rhinelander; his loving companion and care-giver, Sandra Gasser of Sugar Camp; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne; his sister, Patricia Wood; and his parents.
Visitation will be held at Hildebrand-Darton-Russ Funeral Home, 715-365-4343, on Monday, March 28, 2005 from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M.
A memorial service will be held following visitation at 2:00 P.M. with D.A.V. Chaplain Dan Rogers officiating.

MaKayla Jo Lego
Lego, MaKayla Jo., age 6, of Rhinelander, died Saturday, April 2, 2005 from injuries sustained in a car/bicycle accident near her home.
She was born August 5, 1998 in Rhinelander, the daughter of Richard "Rich" and Tammy (Skinner) Lego.
MaKayla was a first grade student at Pelican School.
She enjoyed swimming and was a member of the Rhinelander Swim Club.
She played Hodag T-Ball. She also enjoyed riding horses, ATV`s, snowmobiles and boating.
MaKayla was a joy to family and friends and touched everyone`s heart who met her.
She is survived by her father, Richard "Rich" (Tracy Doering) Lego, mother, Tammy (Scott Weiman) Lego, all of Rhinelander, a brother, Randy "R.J", Lego at home, maternal grandparents, Karen (John) Bruyette, paternal grandmother, June Lego, maternal great-grandfather, DeMar Meyer, all of Rhinelander maternal great-grandfather, Leslie Jackson, England.
an aunt Christine (Tim) Newtols, a cousin, Paige Newtols, all of Green Bay, an uncle, Tim (Melissa) Skinner, an aunt, Tracy (Bobby) Fritz, cousins, Hailey Fritz and Alexis Dumprope, all of Rhinelander, a cousin, Kyle Lukes, Milwaukee, an aunt, Patricia Head, and cousins; Tom and Calum, Daniel and Jason, of England, an aunt, Janet Garland, and cousin, Zelina of England, Godparents; Nick (Sue) Ohlsson, Rhinelander, as well as many classmates and friends.
MaKayla was preceded in death by her grandfather, Richard "Dick" Lego, and a maternal great-grandmother, Helen Meyer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hildebrand-Darton-Russ Funeral Home with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating.
Interment will follow in Forest Home cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at the funeral home.
MaKayla`s family prefers memorials be given in her name.
Jerome Lewis Hagen
Jerome "Doc" Hagen, of Rhinelander, died April 3, 2005 after a courageous struggle with cancer.
He was born January 8, 1927 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Thomas and Elizabeth (Fenton) Hagen.
At the young age of 17, Jerome enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific theater of World War II.
Jerome was called upon again for service in 1950 and stationed in Stockton, California.
Jerome was united in marriage to Patricia (Deau) on January 20, 1951.
After his military service, Jerome returned to Rhinelander and started a family with Patricia.
He was employed by the Rhinelander Paper Mill for more than 40 years.
Known for his love of his family, willingness to help others, listening ear and faith in God, Jerome cherished Patricia, his children and his grandchildren each in a different and special way.
The handcrafted wood projects he made for his children and grandchildren will be forever treasured.
He always found time to lend a hand or an ear to a family member, neighbor or coworker in need.
His advice about repair projects, welding or life reflected his insight and compassion.
Even when age and cancer kept his hands from being of help, his brothers, nephews and other extended family still sought out his company and advice.
Those visits were very special to Jerome.
He enjoyed hunting and simply being in the outdoors.
His commitment to his community was evidenced by his service as Chief of the Town of Crescent Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Crescent Town Board, member of the Knights of Columbus and life long member of St. Mary`s Parish.
His evening rosary was a quiet testimony to his trust and faith in the Lord.
He is survived by seven children, Anne Vanney of Rhinelander; Dorothy (Mike) Donnelly of Toronto; Grace Hagen of Rhinelander; Jeff Hagen of Oxnard, California; Jenny (Carl) Millholland of Monona, Wisconsin; Connie (Mark) O`Connell of Sun Prairie and Gregg Hagen (Joe Kjellander) of Elgin, Illinois; two brothers, Vern and Kenneth; 12 grandchildren Sheila, Angie, Fran and Rick Vanney; Nicole Sowinski, Katie and Jenny Donnelly, Deanna Tushoski, Emma Millholland, Joe, Seamus, and Clare O`Connell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Walter, Howard, Terrance, Frank, Mark and Robert and sisters Dorothy, Mary and Joan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Nativity of Our Lord Parish at St. Mary`s Catholic Church with Father John Gerritts officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph`s Catholic cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 P.M. on Monday evening at the Hildebrand-Darton-Russ Funeral Home, 365-4343 where a rosary will be led by Deacon Chuck Porten at 6:30 P.M.
Ava Marie Cimafranca
Cimafranca, Ava Marie, 27, of De Pere died Saturday, April 9, 2005.
She was born August 28, 1977 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Antonio and Florencia "Flo" (Cinco) Cimafranca.
Ava attended elementary, junior high and high school in Rhinelander.
She was active in the debate team, the band, and the tennis team.
Following graduation in 1999, she sought her college education at Milwaukee School of Engineering and Nicolet Area Technical College where she earned her Associates of Science degree.
In 2003, she decided to further her education at St. Norbert College in De Pere where she majored in physics.
There she worked as a teaching assistant and was part of St. Norbert`s Career Services Staff.
Ava is survived by her father, Antonio, Rhienlander, a sister, Gina, Necedah, as well as several family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by he mother earlier this year.
Ava will be cremated and her ashes will be buried in the Phillipines along with her mother.
Those who knew Ava are invited to a picture visitation at the Cimafranca residence on Kemp Street on Friday, April 15.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Nativity of Our Lord Parish at St. Mary`s Catholic Church with Father John Gerritts officiating.
A potluck luncheon will follow.
Duane Bishop
Duane Bishop, age 71, of Rhinelander, died peacefully on Saturday morning April 16, 2005.
He was born on December 9, 1933 in Rhinelander to Claude Sr. and Mary (Abner) Bishop.
Duane grew up in Rhinelander and attended school in Milwaukee.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He earned the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in September of 1956.
Duane worked at the Rhinelander Paper Company for 43 years retiring in 1995.
In 1952, he married
Delores Hurley.
Delores and their infant daughter, Janice Lynn, died in a car accident in 1956.
He then married
Beverly Cleland on October 12, 1957 in Rhinelander.
In his younger days, Duane enjoyed golfing, playing baseball, snowmobiling, and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed watching his grandson Zach`s football, basketball, and baseball games. He is survived by his two daughters, Diane Shaltis of Rhinelander and Dana (Jim) Draeger of Tomahawk. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Michael Bishop and Matthew Shaltis of Rhinelander and Zachary Jordan and Cheyenne Goff of Tomahawk; one brother, Patrick (Marcella) Bishop of Ladysmith; three sisters, Kathy Rogers of Milwaukee, Marie (Jim) Fields and Anne Day of Rhinelander; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Claude Bishop, Jr., and two sisters, Frances Marcus and Louise Schaefer.
Funeral services for Duane will be held Friday, April 22, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Hildebrand-Darton-Russ Funeral Home with Reverend Norman Peterson officiating.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2005 from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Northland Memorial Park.
