Archie Malechek, Sr.
Archie Malechek, Sr., 85, of 537 Jackson St., Mishicot, formerly of Tisch Mills, died Monday, May 14, 2001 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Archie was born March 1, 1916 in the Town of Carlton in Kewaunee County to the late John and Otillia Shebesta Malechek and has been a lifelong area resident.
He married
the former Mildred Spacek on October 20, 1948 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Casco.
Mr. Malechek owned and operated the family farmstead in the Town of Carlton his entire life, and retired in 1978.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Tisch Mills, and of the Holy Name Society of the Church.
He was also a member of the Two Rivers WFLA Lodge #142, the Czechs of Norman, and the Mishicot Senior Center.
He was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, and loved spending time on the family farm; and was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
He is survived by his loving wife Mildred; two sons and daughters-in-law, Archie Jr. and Terri of rural Tisch Mills, Kenneth and LeeAnn of the Town of Carlton; five grandchildren, Kimberly, Brandon, Jonathan, Jennifer, and James; three sisters-in-law, Alice Malechek of Denmark, Evelyn Ciche of Manitowoc, and Rita Quistorff of Kewaunee; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one infant sister and one brother, John Malechek.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Lambert Funeral Home in Mishicot.
There will be a 7 p.m. parish wake service.
Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. on Thursday at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Tisch Mills, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m..
The Rev. Joseph Coopmans, O. Praem, will officiate.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Beverly J. Kohrt
Beverly J. Kohrt, 76, formerly of Kewaunee, De Pere, and Mesa, Arizona, died Saturday, June 2, 2001 at her summer residence in Green Bay.
She was born October 21, 1924 at Kewaunee to the late Wenzel and Manilla Arpin Hamachek.
On March 16, 1945 she married
Richard J. Kohrt in Savannah, Georgia.
She was Secretary/Treasurer of Svoboda Industries from 1967 to 1989 when she retired.
She was also a charter member of St. Mary's Kewaunee Area Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Parish and the Rosary Society.
Beverly was an avid bridge player, and when she and her husband retired to their motor home they enjoyed extensive travel around the country and internationally.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Cynthia and Paul Gledhill of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Wendy Kohrt of Denver, Colorado; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Kristin of South Bend, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jeffry, Eric, Nicole, and Brad; one great-grandson, Tanner; and two sisters, Barbara Leischow of Racine and Peggy Hamachek of Manitowoc.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Abigail, and one brother-in-law, Charles Leischow.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, at Holy Rosary Church, with Fr. Daniel Dewane officiating.
Burial is in Holy Rosary cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for Susan B. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation and the Holy Rosary Endowment Fund.

Raymond Maigatter
Raymond Maigatter, 80, of 1116 Kilbourn St., Kewaunee, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at home in Kewaunee.
He was born August 16, 1920, to the late William and Anna Sager Maigatter.
In 1938 he graduated from Kewaunee High School, and worked at the Kewaunee Co-op and the Kewaunee Shipyards.
During World War II he served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific.
On October 13, 1948, he married
Madonna Mazanet in Kewaunee. After the war he worked for Henry and Gilbert Baumeister at Kewaunee Bottling Company, and later worked at Green Bay Watering Plant until retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Madonna, of Kewaunee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and James Winkel of Petaluma, California, and Mary and Terry Berkovitz of Sheboygan; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Thomas of Green Bay, Robert of Kewaunee, Mark and Heidi of San Francisco, and Bruce of Sunnyvale, California; three grandchildren, Heather and Grant Berkovitz and Jessica Maigatter; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harold and Ruth, William, and David and Janet, all of Kewaunee; one sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Gilbert Geier of Kewaunee; one brother-in-law, Mert (Helen) Mazanet of Kewaunee; one sister-in-law, Shirley (Norman) Theune of Wabeno.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Bruemmer Swintosky and Edna McCarville; three brothers-in-law, Frank Bruemmer, Joseph McCarville, and James Walesh.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee, with Fr. Dan Dewane officiating.
Burial was in Riverview cemetery, with full military rites.
Donald E. Hanson
Donald E. Hanson, 67, of Kewaunee, passed away Monday, October 15, 2001 at the home of his son in Kewaunee.
He was born in Laney, Wisconsin on November 12, 1933 to Elmer and Cecelia (Melchoir) Hanson.
Don graduated from Stephenson High School in Michigan and drove semi-truck for most of his life.
On June 29, 1952 he married
Carol A. Hansen in Ingalls, Michigan.
He was an avid hunter and truely enjoyed the great outdoors, wildlife, and nature.
He also loved spending time with his family.
Don will be most remembered for his sense of humor and his love of life.
He is survived by his wife Carol; one son and daughter-in-law: Jeffrey and Michele Hanson of Kewaunee; four daughters and two sons-in-law: Jana and Larry Pagel of Kewaunee, Jill Hanson of Kewaunee, Jodi Hanson of Green Bay and Jeri and Dean Grant of Kewaunee; 12 grandchildren; 4½ great grandchildren; two sisters; four brothers; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be Jeramy and Chad Gilson, Rich, Robert and Adam Gronke and Zachary Polsin.
Friends may call at Buchanan Funeral home after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17 and after 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 18 until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Peter Geissler will be officiating.
Entombment will be in the Shrine of Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
Florence Kleiman
Florence Kleiman, 98, of Kewaunee, died Friday, January 25, 2002 at her home with all of her family present.
She was born September 6, 1903 in the Town of Carlton to the late Wenzel (Jim) and Mattie (Pelishek) Swagel.
Before her marriage Florence taught school in the Norman area schools.
She married
Bernard W. Kleiman on October 6, 1928 in Kewaunee.
He preceded her in death June 30, 1983.
Florence was a life-long member of Holy Rosary Church, the Rosary Society and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Florence is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Florence (Toots) and Curtis Johnson of Ogema, Wisconsin; one son and daughter-in-law Thomas R. and Linda Kleiman of Kewaunee; and one daughter-in-law Joan (David) Kleiman Reimer of Green Bay; ten grandchildren: Tony and David Verdegan, Brian (Lori) Kleiman, Tom (Korry) Kleiman, Kelly Greenfield (special friend Jeff Arndt), Jackie (Buck) Brennan, Rene (Mike) Viste, Debbie (Mark) Hansen, Bud Kleiman, Chris (Tina) Kleiman; and eleven great-grandchildren: Neal and Tracy Verdegan, Kimberly Dirkman, McKenzie and Brannigan Brennan, Max Hansen, Kasie, Justin and Alissa Viste, Jesse Kleiman and Tyler Boor.
She was preceded in death by one son Bernard W. Kleiman, one sister Alsen Jergensen, and one brother Melvin Swagel.
She will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services were held on January 28 at Holy Rosary Church with the Reverend Daniel Dewane officiating.
Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Barbara Knapmiller
Barbara Knapmiller, 40, currently of Lakeville, Minnesota but formerly from the Kewaunee area, died on January 16, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Barbara was a teacher, an involved member of her Church, a loving wife and mother.
Patient, kind, caring and compassionate, she lived life to the fullest each and every day.
She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Steve; a son Dan; a daughter Jackie; her parents Ed and Alice Papke; her sisters Ruth Ann Helker and Arlene Wallace; and her brother David Papke.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held January 19 at the Church of the Risen Savior in Burnsville, Minnesota.
White Funeral Home of Apple Valley, Minnesota assisted the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that friends send memorials for various charities.
Corinne M. Pekarek
Corinne M. Pekarek, 38, Green Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at a local Green Bay hospital after a courageous and inspirational three year battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
The former Corinne Stroik was born July 19, 1963, in Stevens Point, WI, to Ernest and the late Angeline (Bushman) Stroik.
She was a graduate of S.P.A.S.H. and UW Stevens Point with a BS in Nutrition.
On Aug. 25, 1990, she married
Darin Pekarek at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Stevens Point.
Corinne very much loved her husband and children; enjoyed working and spending time outside; polka dancing; received the Purple Belt in Taekwondo; was an avid marathon runner, including the 1995 US Marine Corps Marathon; 1998 Fox Cities Race; and the 2000 Inaugural Green Bay Marathon.
She was a member of the Army Reserve Family Readiness Group and received a citation for participation; member of Holy Cross Church, Bay Settlement.
Survivors include her husband, Darin, Green Bay; two daughters, Amanda and Sarah, at home; father and step-mother: Ernest Sr., and Yvonne Stroik, Stevens Point; brothers and sisters: Ernest Jr (Pat) Stroik, Stevens Point; Susan (Con) Helbach, "travelers"; Lucy (Stanley) Klesmith, Stevens Point; Gregory Stroik, Stevens Point; Randy (Penny) Stroik, Crystal Lake, IL; Norbert Stroik, Stevens Point; Christina Henson, Stevens Point; Carolyn (Randy) Collins, Amherst; Daniel (Deb) Stroik, Stevens Point; mother and father-in-law: Dayton and Irene (Chalupsky) Pekarek, Casco; brother and sister-in-laws: Duane (Veronica) Pekarek , Kewaunee; Dean (Clara) Pekarek, Mishicot; Darrell Pekarek; Darwin (Nancy) Pekarek; Debra (Jim) Niemojuski; Darlene (Tim) Mumper; Delmar (Christine) Pekarek, all of Kewaunee; Dotsie Pekarek, Casco; step sister, Cindy Cronce, Neenah; step brothers, Lawrence Cronce, Robert Cronce, Victor Cronce, all of Stevens Point; Russell (Karen) Cronce, Wisconsin Rapids, Jonathan (Tracy) Cronce, Plover; further survived by many, many, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, Su (Curt) Boehm and friends.
Corinne was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents, and one nephew.
The family was assisted by the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home, Green Bay.
Mass of Christian Burial was held January 22, at Holy Cross Church, Green Bay, with Fr. Timothy Shillcox, O. Pream, officiating.
