A funeral service will be held at the St. John
Lutheran Church in Berlin, WI on Tuesday, October
16, 2007 at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Bryan Lundquist,
officiating. Interment will be in the Poy Sippi
cemetery, Twp. of Poy Sippi, Waushara County, WI.
Friends may call at the church in Berlin on Tuesday
from noon until 1:00 pm. The Holly Funeral Home of
Poy Sippi, WI is assisting the family with
arrangements.

Vera Sylvia Amundson

June 28, 1917 to October 11, 2007

Vera Sylvia (Kultala) Amundson, loving wife,
mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was
the second child of Helga and Andrew Kultala. She
married Herbert John Amundson on January 31, 1938.
He preceded her in death in 1988 after 50 years of
marriage. They raised 3 daughters, Barbara (Gary)
Jorgensen of Pine River, WI, Janet Amundson of
Los Banos, CA, and Patricia Clenner of Los Banos,
CA. Devoted grandmother of Sheri (Roger) Bahr of
Pine River, WI, Paul (Joyce) Jorgensen of Poy
Sippi, WI, and Karin (Steve) Macijeski of
Fremont, WI. Great Grandmother to Alex and Ryan
Bahr, Jacklyn Jorgensen, Jenna and Brianna
Macijeski. She is also survived by sisters:
Bertha Seppala Chapin of Cloquet, MN, Thyra
(George) Clark of Proctor, MN, and Ethel (Gene)
Lindberg of Duluth, MN, and a sister-in-law:
Betty Kultala of Washington. She is further
survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends. She was also preceded in death by three
brothers: Waino, Verner, and Edward, and a
son-in-law, Richard Clenner.

In 1943 Herb and Vera moved to California. They
returned to Minnesota after several years and
eventually settled in California to raise their
family.

Vera was a stay at home mom, giving all of her
love and attention to her husband, and family.
Vera's faith and church was always an important
part of her life. She is a member of St. John
Lutheran Church in Berlin, WI.

Vera was active in the PTA, and Blue Birds. She
began bowling at the age of 65 and joined many
leagues, both regular and senior. She loved to
cook, bake, clean house, and garden. She enjoyed
polka music and dancing. She also had a deep
affection for her kitties.

Because of her health and medical needs she has
spent the last five years in Berlin, WI at
Juliette Manor.

Vera left behind a legacy of love, compassion and
caring.

A funeral service will be held at the St. John
Lutheran Church in Berlin, WI on Tuesday, October
16, 2007 at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Bryan
Lundquist, officiating. Interment will be in the
Poy Sippi cemetery, Twp. of Poy Sippi, Waushara
County, WI. Friends may call at the church in
Berlin on Tuesday from noon until 1:00 pm. The
Holly Funeral Home of Poy Sippi, WI is assisting
the family with arrangements.

A special Thank You to the entire staff of
Juliette Manor not only for their special care
they gave to our mom, but also the care and
kindness they showered on us in our time of need.

How blessed we are as a family.

Donald G. Brunner

Waupaca on Thursday Sept. 13 from 4 to 8 P.M.
Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Waupaca on Friday, Sept. 14 at 11 AM.
The Reverend Dr. Charles Tews will officiate. The
family will have a private service for the
entombment at Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc.

Donald George Brunner, 81, of Fort Myers, Florida
passed away September 8, 2007 at Shell Point
Retirement Community in Fort Myers. Don was a
former resident of Weyauwega, WI and Waupaca, WI.
Don was born in Manitowoc, WI on April 24, 1926,
the son of the late George and Edna (Kaufman)
Brunner.

Don graduated from Lincoln High School in
Manitowoc. After high school he entered the
Armed forces. Don graduated from Officer
Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia. He
served as a Lieutenant during World War II and
served after the war in the 2753 Engineering
Battalion in North Africa. Don graduated from
Marquette University in 1951 with a B.S. in
Mechanical Engineering.

Don was employed at Brillion Iron Works from
1951-1955. He left Brillion Iron Works in 1955
to begin work at a new company named the Waupaca
Foundry. Don began as the Plant Manager of
Operations of the Waupaca Foundry in 1955.
Through his perseverance, leadership, and vision
the company grew from 13 employees in an old
garage to employees numbering over 3600 in six
plants. Don was the President and CEO of the
Waupaca Foundry from 1972 until his retirement in
1997. Don was an active member and contributor to
the Cast Metals Federation, the Foundry Education
Foundation(FEF) and the American Foundry
Association(AFS). He served as President of the
North East Chapter of AFS and as a member of AFS
Board of Directors. Upon his retirement from
Waupaca Foundry, a scholarship was established in
his name which is awarded annually to a student
member of FEF whose entering his or her senior
year in college. In September of 1986, Don was
presented with the Iron Casting Society's highest
honor, The Gold Metal. In 1993, he received the
Gold Metal Award from AFS, which now regarded as
the industry's most prestigious honor. In 1983
the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce named Don as
the Person of the Year, recognizing his enthusiasm
and loyalty to the community.

Don shared his passion of flying with family and
friends. Don obtained pilot's licenses with land
and sea rating, multi-engine rating, and
instrument rating. During his flying years, Don
built five airplanes. He was a supporter and
promoter of the Waupaca Airport, which was named
Brunner Field in his honor. Don was responsible
for the development of the Club Hangar at Central
County Airport in Ogdensburg which he named 68C.
Don was a lifetime member of EAA.

Don believed in giving back to the community: he
did so very quietly, and in many ways. Don was a
staunch supporter of education and he initiated
the Waupaca Foundry College scholarship program.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and
founder of the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment
Fund.

He is survived by Wife: Margaret E. Brunner;
Shell Point, Ft Myers, Florida. Don was
previously married to the former Florence Gosz
and their children are: Susan (William) Stark,
Madison; Steven (Debra) Brunner, Waupaca; Thomas
(Lynn) Brunner, Wausau; Mary Jo Brunner,
Manitowoc; Patrice (Russell) Lowe, Iron Mountain,
MI. Don also had nine grandchildren: Sarah Stark,
Christina Stark, Charles Stark, Nicholas Brunner,
Emily Rose Brunner, Samuel Lowe, Jane Lowe, Laura
Brunner, Allison Brunner, and his step grandchild
Kayla Krigbaum, and his step great grandchild,
Kiah Krigbaum.

Don was preceded in death by a step daughter:
Jacqueline Krigbaum (Earl)

Visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home
in Waupaca on Thursday Sept. 13 from 4 to 8 P.M.
Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Waupaca on Friday, Sept. 14 at 11 AM.
The Reverend Dr. Charles Tews will officiate.
The family will have a private service for the
entombment at Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc.

In lieu of flowers the family would like the
memorials to be made to the Foundry Education
Foundation for the Donald Brunner Scholarship,
the National Parkinson Foundation, or Trinity
Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.

Marjorie Darrow

Home in Waupaca, WI on Wednesday, September 19,
2007 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in the Central
Wisconsin Veterans Memorial cemetery at King, WI.
Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home in
Waupaca on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from 4:00 –
8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are
appreciated and can be directed to the Waupaca
Learning Center Library Fund in memory of Marjorie
Darrow. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is
assisting the family with arrangements.

DARROW, MARJORIE B.

WAUPACA, WI

Age 86 – died on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at
Bethany Home in Waupaca. She was born on July 7,
1921 in Scandinavia, WI, a daughter of the late
Frank Nelsen and Johanne (Hansen) Rasmussen. She
married Leland W. Darrow on April 22, 1939 in
Parfreyville, WI. He preceded her in death on
November 20, 1998.

Marjorie is survived by her sons: Gerald Darrow
of Waupaca, Gale Darrow of Rockford, IL, six
grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a
half-brother: Fred Rasmussen of Waupaca, and a
very special friend: Katheryn Anderson of
Waupaca. She is further survived by nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was
preceded in death by her husband: Leland, a
grandson: Elias R. Darrow, her father: Frank
Nelsen, her mother and step-father: Johanne and
Fred Rasmussen, Sr., two sisters: Vera Gould and
Viola Jensen, and a brother: Harley Nelsen.

Marjorie was a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Waupaca. She had been a
homemaker for most of her life. She was a charter
member of the 1st Red Hat Society of Waupaca. She
had also been active with the Waupaca Chapter of
the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the King Chapter of the
American Legion Auxiliary.

A funeral service will be held at the Holly
Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Wednesday,
September 19, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be
in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial
cemetery at King, WI. Friends may call at the
Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Tuesday,
September 18, 2007 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu
of flowers, memorials are appreciated and can be
directed to the Waupaca Learning Center Library
Fund in memory of Marjorie Darrow. The Holly
