Verona Groholski, age 88, of Plover, formerly of
Amherst, passed away Saturday, May 6th, 2006 at
St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. She was
born in the Town of Amherst, Portage County,
Wisconsin on March 19, 1918, the daughter of
John and Sophie (Patoka) Kropidlowski. Verona
married
Raymond Groholski on November 22, 1938 at
St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church - Fancher.
He preceded her in death on December 8, 1996.
She is survived by Children: Germaine (Robert)
Zoromski; Conrad (Mary) Groholski; Robert
(Barbara) Groholski; Rose (Richard) Trebe;
Grandchildren: Jim, Jody, Joan, Jane, Amy,
Kurt, Scott, Todd, Tricia, Mark, Dusty and Kyle;
Twenty-five Great Grandchildren; Sister: Laura
(Henry) Sopa; Sister-in-law: Phyllis
Kropidlowski. Verona was preceded in death by
her parents; husband, Raymond; grandson, Brian;
sister, Mary and her brothers, Harry and
Eddie.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on
Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel
Catholic Church - Fancher with Father Robert
Pedretti officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary
of Mt. Carmel Catholic cemetery. A visitation
will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:00
AM until the time of the service where the St.
Mary's of Mt. Carmel Rosary Society will pray the
rosary at 10:00 AM. The Jungers-Holly Funeral
Home of Amherst assisted the family with
arrangements. (The family wishes to thank all
the people at Maple Ridge for their kindness and

WAUPACA, WISCONSIN
Age 82 passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at
Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. She was
born December 16, 1923 in Manawa, WI; daughter of
Leonhard and Anna (Jahnke) Gehrke. On September
5, 1953, Anita married
Harold M. Buck in Dubuque,
IA. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1988.
She was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical
Lutheran Church of Waupaca where she was an
active member of the Ladies Aide.
Anita is survived by:

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband, Harold M. Buck, two infant sons,
brother-in-law, Verlyle Graichen, and a
sister-in-law, Ruthann Gehrke.
A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, May 10,
2006 at 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Reverend Jeffrey
Holtan and Reverend Aaron Winkelman will
officiate. A visitation will be held on Tuesday
evening, May 9, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Holly
Funeral Home in Waupaca. Burial will be at
Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca following the
services on Wednesday. The Holly Funeral Home of
Waupaca is assisting the family with
arrangements.
Roger Colligan

Roger Ernest Colligan, 81, was surrounded by his
wife and family at Theda Clark Medical Center
when he went home to be with the Lord on May 6,
2006. His death was caused by a ruptured
abdominal aortic vessel.
He was born July 25, 1924, to Ernie and Olwyn
(Hughes) Colligan at their home in the Village of
Wild Rose. He enjoyed his childhood riding his
father’s horses with many other children in the
neighborhood. He graduated from Wild Rose High
School in 1942 and participated in the State
Track and Field Competition in Madison where he
was awarded the gold medal in Discus and the
silver medal in Shot Put. His photo as state
champion is still displayed above the gymnasium
door at the WRHS.
On January 19, 1946, he was married
to Norma
Christine Dopp at the Dopp Methodist Church which
was full of friends and relatives including his
brothers, Donald (Red) and Delbert (Dub) and
dearest friend, Norman Hoeft, all of whom had
recently returned from active duty in WWII. Norma
and Roger moved to Hillcrest Farm where they made
happy memories for 60 years. They had two
beautiful daughters, Christine Ann and Sally
Sue.
Roger spent 25 years as a farmer including 15
years of raising cucumbers and operating a
receiving station with a large crew of migrant
workers, many of whom became lifelong friends.
For the past 35 years, he sold machinery to
farmers far and wide and had an affinity for
International tractors and equipment. His
favorite pastimes included hunting, serving
others and attending auctions which was his
passion. He loved to spend his days buying and
selling where he met many people who came to know
and love him. He was known by many as “Bubba”, a
name originating from his first grandchild who
couldn’t pronounce Grandpa.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his
beloved daughter Sally, and his brothers. He is
survived by his devoted wife, Norma, daughter
Chris (John) Lauritzen, son-in-law Roger
Carpenter, grandchildren Tracey (Jon) Kolbrek,
Tom (Tanya) Lauritzen, Craig (Michelle)
Carpenter, Melissa (Todd) Maas, and Michael
Lauritzen. He was blessed with
great-grandchildren Elena, Anders, Keely and
Brynn Kolbrek; Brandon and Annabella Sally Maas;
David, Adelaide, Hayden and Ethan Lauritzen. He
is also survived by nephews, Dan (Gail) Colligan,
Don (Nancy) Colligan, nieces Linda (Don) Evans,
Colleen (David) Sommer, sisters-in-law Natalie
Dyrbey and Maretta Dopp, other nieces, nephews,
cousins and Norman Hoeft, who was like a brother
to him.
In joyful celebration of his life, visitation
will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, May
10, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Wild
Rose where he was a member for 66 years. A
memorial service will be Thursday at 1:00 pm with
visitation at noon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial
fund has been established.

Hall Chapel, King. Interment will be in the
Central WI Veterans Memorial cemetery, King.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 12:30 PM
until the time of the service at the Olson Hall
Chapel. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is
assisting the family with arrangements.
Gwendolyn M. Akstulewicz, age 83, of King, WI,
passed away on Friday, May 5th, 2006 at Wisconsin
Veterans Home - Olson Hall, King, WI. She was
born in Neenah, WI. on November 25, 1922, a
daughter of the late Clarence and Marie (Eggert)
Andersen.
Gwendolyn married
Julian Akstulewicz on September
3, 1949 in Menasha, WI. He preceded her in death
on June 26, 1991. She proud to be a veteran of
W.W. II at which time she served as a surgical
technician in the Women's Army
Corp, stationed at
McCord AFB, which she was just able to visit in
November (59 years after being stationed there).
After the military, she worked as a surgical
technician at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah,
WI., until she quit to raise her children. She
loved to play bingo and travel. Gwendolyn had a
special fondness of music, especially marching
bands. She recently traveled to Texas, Las Vegas
and Washington to visit her family.
She is survived by 4 Children: Paul
Akstulewicz, Appleton, WI; Ellen (Jack) Rodgers,
San Antonio, TX; Steven Akstulewicz, Las Vegas,
NV; Janet (Steve) Abrams, Marshall, WI; 5
Grandchildren: Rebecca (John) Crump, Waipahu,
HI; Gerald (Catherine) Reimann Jr., Port Orchard,
WA; Michael Reimann, Beaver Dam, WI; Jeffrey
Rodgers, San Antonio, TX; Andrew Reimann,
Marshall, WI; 2 Step-Granddaughters: Trisha &
Amanda Abrams, Marshall, WI; 3 Great
Grandchildren: Samantha Reimann, Port Orchard,
WA; Justin Crump, Waipahu, HI; Alexandra Reimann,
Port Orchard, WA; a Sister: Ruth (Fred) Wacholtz,
Reedsburg, WI. She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, Julian and a brother, Lawrence
Zuelke.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May
11, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Wisconsin Veterans
Home-Olson Hall Chapel, King. Interment will be
