Elaine E. Cies, 69, an Enumclaw resident and a long-time Port Orchard resident, died June 2, 2004.
She was born on Sept. 27, 1934, in Massena, N.Y.
She was an environmental service office administrator.
She loved Burmese cats, family gatherings, cooking, crocheting, genealogy and reading.
She is survived by her sons Michael A. Yows of Tacoma and Robert B. and wife Bonnie Yows of Buckley; daughters Carol-ann and husband Danny Mathews of Sumner and Elaine Elizabeth and husband Ray Monuteaux of Enumclaw; sisters Carol Mary Wright of Port Orchard and Ann Florence Campbell of Santa maria, Calif.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are pending. Arrangements were under the direction of Weeks’ Enumclaw Funeral Home.

Strickler, Shirley Wednesday, 02 Jun 2004
Shirley Y. Strickler, 67, a resident of Sweet Home, Ore., died June 2, 2004, in Seattle.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1936, in Mountain View, Okla., to Newell and Noralee Janes.
She married
Robert Strickler in Couer d’Alene, Idaho, on July 17, 1954.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1954 and attended Olympic College.
She worked as a clerk of Superior Court in Phoenix for 10 years and retired in 1990. She also worked various customer service jobs.
She loved her family, sewing, traveling, flowers, gardening, playing poker, animals and going to garage sales.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by her husband Bob Strickler, of Sweet Home, Ore.; sons Randy and Scott Strickler both of Orlando, Fla.; daughter Jolene and husband Paul Taylor of Glendale, Ariz.; sisters Patsy and husband Russell Peters of Sweet Home, Ore. and JoAnn and husband Bill Lancaster of Port Orchard.
She was preceded in death by Elwanda Adams.
There was an open house Celebration of Life at the Lancasters’ residence in Port Orchard on June 5.

McLean, Lindsey Monday, 31 May 2004
Lindsey Ann McLean, 19, a Port Orchard resident, died May 31, 2004.
She was born on March 12, 1985, in Seattle to Darrell “Mac” and Michelle (Moran) McLean.
She graduated from The Explorer Academy in 2003.
She was an artist and enjoyed using pencil and drawing South Pacific scenes, especially palm trees and beaches.
She was a Catholic.
She is survived by her parents; sisters Kelsey and Kerry McLean; grandparents Robert and Phyllis Moran of Renton and Robert and Kaye McLean of Essexville, Mich.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service was held on June 4, 2004, at Rill Chapel.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center.

Allred, Florence Sunday, 30 May 2004
Florence L. Allred, 80, a Silverdale resident, died May 30, 2004, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born on July 25, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Carl and Ethel (Young) Fornelius.
She married
John F. Allred, Jr. on Dec. 5, 1945, in Salt Lake City. He preceded her in death in 1969.
She graduated from Davis High School in 1941 and from college.
She was a supervisor in the purchasing department at Naval Supply Center Puget Sound for 17 years and a former employee at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah.
She enjoyed gardening, crafts and family history study. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Silverdale Second Ward.
She is survived by daughters Jeannette Allred of Silverdale and Kathleen and husband Adarin Gohl of Port Orchard and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Carl Fornelius and LaVoy Fornelius, sister Bea Worsley and granddaughter Corina Packard.
A memorial and graveside service was held on June 4 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Silverdale. Interment was at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center.
Peterson, Josey Friday, 28 May 2004
Josey Ann Peterson, 30, a resident of Portland, Ore., died May 28 in Portland.
She was born on May 12, 1974, in Bremerton to Randall and Marion (Breiland) Peterson.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1992 and attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Issaquah.
She was a co-manager for Bluemoon Camera and Machine in Portland.
She enjoyed photography, family, animals and hiking. She was a Lutheran.
She is survived by her sister Jamey Peterson of Port Orchard; maternal grandmother Anna Breiland and paternal grandmother Doris Peterson.
Visitation was held on June 4 at Rill Chapel and will be held on Sunday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard prior to service.
A funeral will be held at First Lutheran Church on June 6 at 3 p.m., followed by interment at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center.

Zacharias, George Friday, 28 May 2004
George S. Zacharias, 46, a resident of Port Orchard, died May 28, 2004, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 20, 1957, in Kinglynn, England, to Daniel and Olga (Mahon) Zacharias.
He married
Edna (Bagacay) Zacharias on April 13, 1989, in Port Orchard.
He graduated from Wagner High School on Clark Air Force Base in the Phillippines in 1975 and from Olympic College in Bremerton.
He was a supply clerk with Keyport Naval Station and the Naval Hospital for 20 years. He retired in 2000.
He enjoyed fishing, the Mariners and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Edna Zacharias of Port Orchard; parents Daniel Zacharias of Hagatna, Guam and Olga Zacharias of Palos Verdes, Calif.; brothers Paul and wife Stephanie Zacharias of San Diego, Calif. and Derek Zacharias of New York, N.Y.; and sisters Elizabeth and husband Karl Metsenbocker of Tahoe, Calif., Jessica Zacharias of Charlston, S.C., and Dyan Zacharias of Hagatna, Guam.
Graveside service and inurnment will be held on Friday, June 5, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.

Hall, Sherman Thursday, 27 May 2004
Sherman R. Hall, 72, a Port Orchard resident for 26 years, died on May 27, 2004, at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1932, in Hurricane, W.Va., to Clifton and Gracie (Adkins) Hall.
He married
Jean (Hicks) Hall on Dec. 8, 1962, in Yakima.
He graduated from college in West Virginia and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1971, achieving the rank of first sergeant and earning the Bronze Star.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years and retired in 1992. He also worked as a Sears paint department salesman in Silverdale for two years.
He enjoyed camping and his pets and was a member of the Bremerton Elks Club. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Port Orchard.
He is survived by his wife Jean Hall of DuPont and her two daughters Sandra Piksa of Tacoma and Charlene Weber of Pasco; his brother Leo Hall and sisters Gale and Alice Faye, all of West Virginia; and various nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Russell and sisters Shirley and Ada.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, at First Lutheran Church of Port Orchard. Interment will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent on June 7.

Sturrup, Louise Thursday, 27 May 2004
Louise M. Sturrup, 89, a Port Orchard resident, died May 27, 2004, at Life Care Center in Port Orchard.
She was born in Sept. 26, 1914, in South Windsor, Conn., to Paul and Margaret (Springer) Smith.
Her husband Bruce Sturrup preceded her in death in 1975.
She graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, Conn. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in clerical personnel.
She worked as a secretary with a fuel oil company in Connecticut for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, knitting and golfing.
She is survived by her sister Margaret and her husband George Russell of Port Orchard.
She was preceded in death by her brother Daniel Smith and sisters Alice Jackson and Frances McDuff.
A private funeral service will be held.
