Amos, Floyd Sunday, 14 Sep 2003
Floyd E. Amos, 72, a resident of Port Orchard, died Sept. 14, 2003, at Harrison Memorial Hosptial.
He was born on May 4, 1931, in Sumner to William H. and Anna Amos.
He married
G. Lorene Johnson on Aug. 25, 1956 in Moses Lake.
He served in the U.S. Navy at an E-3 and was a Korean War era veteran. He worked as a commercial carpenter for 20 years and retired in 1993.
He was a member of the Mason Lodge of Yakima and 30 Mason.
He is survived by his wife G. Lorene (Johnson) Amos of Port Orchard; sons Charles Amos and his wife Sheila of Bothell and Steven L. Klinger and his wife Nancy of Puyallup; daughter Rebecca M. Miller and her husband Robert of Federal Way; brothers Ray Amos and his wife Lola of Yakima, Glen Amos and his wife Edna, and David Amos and his wife Joy of Port Ludlow; sisters Lillian Wilson and Donna Rice of Yakima and Enola Golding and her husband Don of Portland, Ore.; and grandchildren Steven L. Klinger, Jr., Marina E. and Tarra L. Jewell, Hilary E. Gavin A. and Elyse L. Amos; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Clyde, Carl and Herb Amos.
Andersen, Corma Sunday, 14 Sep 2003
Corma L. Andersen, 89, a resident of Port Orchard, died Sept. 14, 2003.
She was born on June 4, 1914 in Harrisburg, Ore. to Clarence E. and Pearl May (Leach) Warden.
Her husband Alfred L. Andersen preceded her in death in 1987.
She was a loving housewife and mother to her family.
She was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles Auxiliary No. 2338 and the WakeTickeh Creek Camp Club.
She attended the Nebraska Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons Robert Andersen and his wife Cecilia of Port Orchard and Clarence (Andy) Andersen and his wife Gloria of Port Orchard; daughter Darlene Harpole and her husband Charles of St. Maries, Idaho; and 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Andersen and her companion Arty Conley.
Visitation was held Thursday and Friday, Sept. 18 and 19, 2003, at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at Lewis Funeral Chapel today (Sept. 20, 2003), at 2 p.m.
Burial at Forest Lawn in Bremerton Following the funeral service.
Kiesel, Jessie Saturday, 13 Sep 2003
Jessie Annette Kiesel, 87, a resident of Port Orchard, died Sept. 13, 2003, in Tahuya.
She was born on Oct. 24, 1915, in Carroll, Iowa, to George and Margaret (Thieret) Kiesel.
She married
Joseph John Kiesel on Dec. 6, 1941 in Vancouver, B.C.
He preceded her in death in 1977.
She worked for Product Development Corp. in Seattle for 20 years.
She retired in 1983.
She enjoyed music, camping, languages and was an accomplished mandolinist. She was a Roman Catholic.
She is survived by her son Paul Kiesel and his wife Simonete of Tahuya, David Kiesel and his wife Pam of Belfair, John Kiesel of Sequim and Joe Kiesel-Nield and his wife Kathleen of Ellensburg; daughters Josette Bauguess and her husband Tom of Kapaa, Hawaii and Mary McClain of Tahuya; sister Marie Anderson of Mill Creek; and 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother George Kiesel.
A memorial mass was held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

Jackson, Verna May Friday, 12 Dec 2003
Verna May Jackson, 80, a former long-time resident of Port Orchard recently residing in California, died Dec. 12, 2003, in San Diego.
She was born Jan. 8, 1923, in Louisiana to Alexander and Edna (Cribb) Brown.
She married
Raymond Stanley Jackson on Feb. 14, 1942, in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1967.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1940. She was a realtor with Crown Real Estate in Port Orchard.
She was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles and a long-time member of First Christian Church in Port Orchard.
She is survived by her son Stanley Ray and wife Patricia Jackson of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters Penny and husband Chuck Wenger of Ramona, Calif., and Cathy and Colin Dawson also of Ramona; siblings Sonny Brown, Bob Brown and Dick Brown, all of Port Orchard; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Dec. 12. Interment was at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.
Arrangements were handled by Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center.

Kenney, Eileen Thursday, 11 Dec 2003
Eileen Frieda Kenney, 64, a resident of Port Orchard, died Dec. 11 at home.
She was born on Dec. 5, 1939, in Tacoma to Walter L. and Frieda (Sorick) Hawks.
She married
George L. Kenney on Dec. 5, 1959, in Port Orchard.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1958 and graduated from Olympic College in 1959 with a degree in practical nursing.
She worked as a licensed nurse for 10 years.
She enjoyed camping, fishing and volunteering with children’s athletic programs. She was a member of the Women’s Billiard League for 20 years and was a charter member of the Ramblin Eagles RV Club.
She is survived by her husband; her son Kevin M. Kenney of Idaho; her daughter Krista L. Kenney of Bremerton; her brother Stanley Hawks and his wife Ruby of Pascagoula, Miss.; her aunt Grace Hawks of Port Orchard; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; also five grandchildren — Amy R. Johnson, Derek L. Conway, Angel R. Platt, Devin M. Kenney and Jesse M. W. Larson.
Inurnment will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 19 at Mountain View Memorial Park in Tacoma. Arrangements were handled by Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center.
Bachand, Thelma Wednesday, 10 Dec 2003
Thelma I. Bachand, 83, a resident of Port Orchard, died Dec. 10, 2003, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born on May 19, 1920 in Casper, Wyo. to Seth and Emma (Friend) Peebles.
Her husband, Ulric Bachand, preceded her in death in 1998.
She was a homemaker and worked for NAD Park Ammunition Depot during WWII as a tool room keeper.
She was a member of Alnon, loved crafts, was an avid walker, and volunteered at Manchester Elementary School Library.
She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son Robert Bachand of Port Orchard; daughter Cheryl Reite of Port Orchard; grandchildren Jason Bachand and Shelly Henderson; great-grandchildren Avery Henderson and Jayla Bachand; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister Violet Cruz and her brother Les Peebles.
A graveside service was held on Monday, Dec. 15, at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center.

Goebel, Ruth Wednesday, 10 Dec 2003
Ruth H. Goebel, 94, a resident of Port Orchard, died Dec. 10, 2003.
She was born on May 24, 1909, in Logan, Kan., to Ralph and Stella (Presnell) Hansen.
She married
Howard Rusco, later divorced and was remarried
to Marvin Goebel in 1947.
She graduated from Burr Oak High School in Burr Oak, Kan., and she attended Hays College in Hays, Kan.
She was a bookkeeper at the American Legion in Topeka, Kan., and for the North Pacific Lumber Co. in Portland, Ore., for a total of 18 years.
She retired in 1974.
She also published a weekly newspaper in Burr Oak and Logan with her first husband.
Aside from her family, her love was mostly writing. She wrote a weekly column and many articles published by the Topeka Journal, The Oregonian, the Bremerton Sun senior insert, and the Catholic Digest, among others.
She also enjoyed knitting and sewing.
She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughters Penelope Allen of Burley, Rebecca Oglesby of Clifton, Kan. and Belinda Eastmond of Detroit, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Goebel, daughter Diana Peavy and sister Marie Bean Blossom.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 13 at the Ridgemont Terrace Apartments dining room.

Cordrey, Andrew Tuesday, 09 Dec 2003
Andrew A. Cordrey, 90, a Port Orchard resident, died Dec. 9, 2003, at Ridgemont Terrace Care Center.
He was born on Dec. 1, 1913, in Eugene, Ind., to Thomas and Belinda (Beck) Cordrey.
He married
Marjorie (Hughes) Cordrey on June 1, 1940, in Covington, Ind. She preceded him in death in April 2003.
He was a 30-year member of the YMCA and very active in the Danville, Ill., and Westville, Ill., Community Centers. He enjoyed swimming and fishing.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Danville.
He is survived by his sons Myron Cordrey of Westville, Ill., and Maynard and wife Caroline Cordrey of Port Orchard; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Michael Cordrey and six brothers and one sister.
A funeral service was held on Dec. 15 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park.
