Hunkin, Tuiloua Monday, 18 Aug 2003
Tuiloua Joe Hunkin, 62, a resident of Port Orchard, died Aug. 18, 2003, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1941, in Leone, American Samoa, to Fiavivini and Patupatu (Ilaoa) Hunkin. He married
Sheryl (Britton) Hunkin on Feb. 1, 1966, in San Francisco, Calif.
He worked for 35 years as a rigger, retiring in 2003, and was also in the U.S. Merchant Marine for six years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, Promise Keepers, traveling, bowling, cooking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Sheryl Hunkin of Port Orchard; sons Vele Hunkin of Indianola, Iowa and Alan Hunkin of Bremerton; daughter Luana Tupua of Kent; siblings Frank Hunkin of Long Beach, Calif., Alli Vavao of Newark, Calif., Poma’a Vavao of Rhonert Park, Calif., Tafia Taimalelagi of Pimer, Samoa, Maleka Yoder of Rogerville, Penn., and Tolu Tarrant of Los Angeles, Calif.; and grandchildren Abigail, Emily, Jessica, Talia, Tuiloua, Ethan, Ariana, Aumau, Jacob, Zachary and Vaimagalo.
Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Aug. 22, 23 and 25 at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be held at Adventure of Faith Presbyterian Church in Port Orchard Monday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m.
Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center.
Hall, Priscilla Saturday, 16 Aug 2003
Priscilla Ann Collins Hall, 41, died Aug. 16 in Port Orchard.
She was born on Nov. 24, 1961 in Walla Walla to Joseph W. and Hazel Collins.
She married
Fred Hall on Aug. 20, 1983.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1981 and ran Hall & Sons Garage with her husband. Her favorite interests were anything her husband and sons were involved in such as riding motorcycles, hunting, baseball, camping, skiing, family trips, boating and horseback riding.
She is survived by her husband Fred Hall; sons Bradley, Steven, Jacob, and Ross Hall; mother Hazel Collins of Olalla; sisters Dorothy Marks, Patricia Carvell, Ruby Fesler, Evelyn Gannaway, Teresa Sobosky and Phyllis Rel; brother Joseph Collins; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Joseph W. Collins.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor followed by a reception at the Bethel Grange.

Grew, Aidan Thursday, 14 Aug 2003
Aidan Catherine Grew, 2, died on Aug. 14, 2003.
She was born on April 25, 2001 to Michael and Karen Grew.
She is survived by her parents; sister Morgan; brother Malcolm; and grandparents Orville and Jean Hegseth of Port Angeles.
A graveside service will be held at Haven of Rest Memorial Park on Monday, Aug., 25, 2003 at 11 a.m.
Watson, Charlotte Tuesday, 12 Aug 2003
Charlotte L. “Charlie” Watson, 60, a resident of Manchester, died at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale on Aug. 12, 2003.
She was born on July 13, 1943, in Port Orchard to Garry T. and Stella E. (Durston) Linenko. She married
Clifford Watson on March 9, 1963, in Port Orchard.
They divorced in 1969, and he preceded her death in 2001.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1961 and attended Washington State University. She worked for 19 years at Sears as a salesperson in Connecticut and then in Bremerton and Silverdale.
She also worked for Olympic Property management in Port Orchard and at Electronic Real Estate Services in Tacoma.
She enjoyed being with family, friends and her grandchildren. She devoted a lot of her time to operating her investment properties.
She is survived by her mother Stella Linenko of Port Orchard; son Gary Watson and his wife Melaney of Port Orchard; sisters Sharon Cain and her husband Jerry and Charlene Wise and her husband Gary all of Port Orchard; and grandchildren Jared and Lucas Watson of Port Orchard.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.

Proscovia Alice Bydalek, 93, a resident of Centralia, died Aug. 9, 2003.
She was born on May 23, 1910, in Salem Kars, Turkey, to John Rodney and Mary (Slivcoff) Corboff.
Her husband, Henry Herbert Bydalek, preceded her in death in the early 1960s.
She attended high school in San Francisco, Calif.
She was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, enjoyed drill team, gardening, crocheting and canning.
She was a member of Valley Christian Center in Sequim.
She is survived by her brother Danny Corboff; sister Vicky Corboff; daughters Mary Alice, Rose Lucille and Laura Ann; son Raymond George; grandchildren Al Penna, Jr., Dianne Penna, Laura Priscilla Thelin, Ronald Chico, Lezlie Tabert, William Robert Thelin, Rodney Russell Thelin, Cindy Chico, Ricky Chico, Jenny Quade, John Quade and Becky Quade and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Slivcoff and John Rodney Corboff, brothers Alex, William and George Corboff and sisters Mary and Lucille Corboff.

Swanson, Mary Friday, 08 Aug 2003
Mary E. Swanson, 80, died Aug. 8 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Riverbank, Calif. to John and Eve (Smith) Miles.
She married
Leonard Swanson on Feb. 14, 1943 in Modesto, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1982.
She worked as a school teacher for 24 years, retiring in 1979.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered at South Kitsap Helpline and Parkwood Community Center.
She is survived by her son Robert Swanson and his wife Michelle of Manchester; also two grandchildren — Carolyn and Christine Swanson, both of Port Orchard.
Minear, Arthur Friday, 08 Aug 2003
Arthur Carl Minear, former head custodian at Manchester Elementary
Arthur Carl Minear, 79, a resident of Port Orchard, died Aug. 8, 2003 at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born in Texas City, Texas on August 20, 1923, to Robert Claud and Frances (Armon) Minear. He grew up and attended school in Kansas State and in Longview.
He married
VaLara Maiden on July 9, 1949, in Longview at First Christian Church.
He worked at PSNS in shop 56 and as head custodian at Manchester Elementary School until he retired in 1982.
He was a charter member and past president of the Port Orchard Lions Club. He had a love of art, which he shared by teaching numerous arts and crafts classes to school children in the South Kitsap area.
He was a member of the Colby United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Rose Mary Wells of Silverdale and Karen Minear of Port Orchard; sister Anita Wilson of Ventura, Calif.; granddaughter Katherine Wells; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Katherine and Florence and brothers Jack, Robert, Leonard, Walter and James.
A memorial service will be held on Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. at Colby United Methodist Church on SE Southworth Drive and Harvey Street SE.

Leonard, Dorothy Tuesday, 05 Aug 2003
Dorothy A. Leonard, 74, a resident of Oregon City, Ore., and a former long-time resident of Port Orchard, died August 5, 2003.
She was born in Feb. 2, 1929 in Plainfield, N.J. to Grover and Ann (Bruckner) Friedrich.
She married
Richard F. Leonard on Feb. 3, 1951 in Port Orchard.
He preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a homemaker, taught piano and played piano with various bands at V.F.W.’s in Port Orchard and Bremerton.
She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Port Orchard and also enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her son Robert Leonard of Oregon City, Ore.; daughter Carol West of Portland, Ore.; brother Grover Friedrich of Port Orchard; and her grandchildren Heather Leonard, Mary West and Jamie West.
A graveside service was held Friday, August 8, 2003 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.
Arrangements were handled by Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center.
Viles, Kenneth Tuesday, 29 Jul 2003
Kenneth “Dan” Viles, 47, a resident of Poulsbo, died July 29 in Poulsbo.
He was born Aug. 3, 1955 in Portland, Ore. to Kenneth and Myrna (Roberts) Viles.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Aguilar) Viles.
They married
on May 15, 1976, in Olongapo City, Philippines.
He graduated from Hudson Bay High School, located in Vancouver, in 1973.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 until he retired in 1994. He achieved the rank of E-8, Senior Chief Petty Officer. He also received a Navy Commendation and a Navy Achievement with one star.
He also worked as a maintenance supervisor with Bainbridge Asset for two years and as a handyman for eight years.
He was a craftsman and woodworker and enjoyed fishing and taking his grandchildren to the movies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents, who live in LaCenter; his son Jessie Viles and his wife Gretchen of Poulsbo; his daughters Mary Ann Aguilar of Jersey City, N.J., Jennifer Viles of Poulsbo and Susan DeSantos and her husband Brandon of Bremerton; his brother Steven Viles and his wife Stacy of Virginia Beach, Va.; his sisters Beverly Peck and her husband Gregg of Hazel Dell and Joan Artz and her husband Jon of West Richland; also two grandchildren — Nathaniel Viles and Breanna DeSantos.
A graveside service was held Monday and Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
