McCune, Nicholas Tuesday, 19 Nov 2002
Nicholas Richard McCune, born to Cristal Leigh McCune of Port Orchard and Michael Richard Clifton of Olalla, died Nov. 19, 2002, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his brother Zackery McCune; maternal grandparents Rob and Lynn McCune of Port Orchard; paternal grandmother Debbie Clifton of Olalla; and maternal great-grandparents Larry Carter of Port Orchard, Joan Davis of Fenton, Mo., and Bob and Beverly McCune of San Antonio, Texas.
Memorial services were held Tues., Nov. 26, 2002, at South Park Assembly of God in Port Orchard.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Davies, Jr., Owen Sunday, 17 Nov 2002
Owen E. “Gene” Davies, Jr., 64, a resident of Port Orchard, died Nov. 17, 2002.
He was born Aug. 9, 1938, in Red Lodge, Mont., to Owen and Ann (Tastovorsnik) Davies.
He married
Linda (Bernritter) Davies on June 16, 1972 in Bremerton.
He graduated from Red Lodge High School in 1957 and attended the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Apprentice Pro-gram.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961.
He worked for Hamilton’s Produce Co., delivering to restaurants in Yellowstone National Park.
He then worked in Oregon as a general laborer before becoming a ship fitter at PSNS in Bremerton where he worked for 27 years.
He retired in 1993.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, hunting and playing bingo.
He is survived by his wife Linda Davies of Port Orchard; sons Tony Davies and Michael Davies both of Port Orchard; daughters Darcia Oefinger of Port Orchard and Anne Stallard of Forks; brother Ed Davies of Port Orchard; sister Dor-othy Morrison of Wolf Point, Mont.; one nephew, two nieces and six grandchildren.
An informal gathering will be held at Ed Davies’ home, 10591 Fairview Blvd SW, Port Orchard, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 24, 2002.

Stanley, Carlene Saturday, 16 Nov 2002
Carlene Casey Stanley, 47, a resident of Port Orchard, died Nov. 17, 2002, at her home.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1955, in San Rafael, Calif., to James and Janet (Cresci) Casey.
She married
Alan Stanley on May 9, 1991, in Sonoma, Calif.
She was a Cook at Jimmy D’s and the Port Orchard Eagles, was director and cook at Golden Hills “Feeding the Needy” Program in Brentwood, Calif., was a professional dancer and daycare provider in Antioch, Calif.
She was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles, Lions Club, enjoyed making soap, candles, and always had a new craft project going.
She was a member of Spirit of Truth Fellowship in Port Or-chard.
She is survived by her husband Alan Stanley, parents James Casey of Australia and Janet Cresci of Santa Barbara, Calif.; son Shae V. Stanley of Port Orchard; brother James Casey, Jr., of Minnesota; sister Jennifer Lundmark of Santa Barbara; and her foster mother Ruby Reynolds of Port Orchard.
A funeral service was held Friday Nov. 22, 2002, at Rill Chapel. Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Ness, Sigurd Friday, 15 Nov 2002
Sigurd W. Ness, 103, a resident of Port Orchard, died Nov. 15, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace.
He was born Feb. 25, 1899, in Dwight Township, N.D., to Kristian J. and Simonethe (Heitmann) Ness.
He married
Mary E. (Russell) Ness on Nov. 15, 1925, in Monrovia, Calif.
She preceded him in death in 1989.
He retired in 1964 from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, where he worked as an electrician. He was a member of the Bethel Grange and his interests included his family, home projects and music.
He is survived by his son Charles “Bob” Ness and his wife Sally of Port Orchard; daughter Marilyn Coble and her husband Howard of Olympia; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and 11 brothers and sisters.
No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Sullivan, Lt. Cdr. (Retired), Francis Friday, 15 Nov 2002
Lt. Cdr. Francis J. Sullivan (Retired), 84, a resident of Port Orchard, died Nov. 15, 2002 at Ridgemont Terrace Nursing Home.
He was born July 29, 1918, in Boston, Mass., to Daniel and Nellie (Hurley) Sullivan. He married
Joyce (Brenner) Sullivan on Oct. 19, 1951, in Hagerstown, Md.
He graduated from Winchester High School in Winchester, Mass., in 1937 and received his AA Degree from Steilacoom Community College in Tacoma in 1974.
He was a line officer in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, from Jan. 1942 to March 1972.
He was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation and Vietnam Service Medal with Silver Star.
He was a member of Military Officers Association of America, Disabled American Veterans, Knights of Columbus in Wauke-gan, Ill.
He enjoyed car touring, camping and was a sports enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Sullivan; daughters GinaMarie Moy and her husband Walter of Vashon Island and Kathryn Sullivan and her husband Ronald Stephens of Tuscon, Ariz.; sons Frank and wife JoAnn of Gig Harbor, Kevin of Olympia, Gregg of Berlin, Germany, Michael and wife Ann of Austin, Texas; and 6 grandchildren.
There will be a private service and inurnment at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Wolf, Robert Thursday, 14 Nov 2002
Robert “Bob” J. Wolf, 85, a resident of Port Orchard, died Nov. 14, 2002 at Bremerton Health and Rehab. He was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Beaver Falls, Minn., to Arthur and Annie (Hoskins) Wolf.
He married
Genevieve (Brady) Wolf in Moorhead, Minn. on Sept. 28, 1940. She preceded him in death in 1999.
He worked for 25 years at PSNS as a welder, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed woodworking, was a professional singer in Minnesota and had a regular radio show.
He is survived by his son Wayne Wolf of Port Orchard; daughter Gayle Rice of Lake Symington; brother Russell Wolf of Tacoma; sisters Vera Cox of Moorhead, Minn. and Mabel Honeycutt of Tacoma; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Wolf and his sister Violet Jensen.
A funeral will be held at Rill Chapel followed by interment at Sunset Lane cemetery at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Zetterberg, Jaunita Monday, 20 Jan 2003
Jaunita Audrey Zetterberg, 75, died Jan. 20, 2003, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born on May 19, 1927, in Waldheim, La., to Julius and Ethel (Quave) Heath.
She married
Robert S. Zetterberg on Nov. 29, 1947, in Yuma, Ariz. He preceded her in death in 2000.
She graduated from high school in Covington, La.
She worked as a telephone operator in California and Mississippi and a secretary and operator with Crosby Forest Product in Picayune, Miss.
She enjoyed needlework and was a Presbyterian.
She is survived by her son Bruce Zetterberg of Bremerton; daughter-in-law Krista Schmid of Bremerton; sister Agnes Welch of Covington, La.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother Percy Heath.
A graveside service was held at the Washington Veterans Home cemetery on Jan. 24, 2003, and interment was in Retsil, Wash.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Friedrich, Ann Sunday, 19 Jan 2003
Ann Friedrich, 75, of Port Orchard died Jan. 19, 2003, at her home.
She was born April 15, 1927, in Manette to Dallas and Anne (Dilks) Cowan.
She grew up in Harper and attended South Kitsap schools.
She married
Grover Friedrich on Oct. 1, 1987, in Port Orchard.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of VFW Post 2669 in Port Orchard and AMVETS.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Shannon Berry of Beaverton, Ore.; a son, Pat Berry of Loveland, Colo.; daughter-in-law Marianne Berry of Bremerton; five stepsons, Ed Friedrich and his wife, Kate Cunningham, of Gig Harbor, Ted Friedrich and his wife, Shellie, of Port Hadlock, David Friedrich and his companion, Sarah Johnson, of Port Orchard, Dan Friedrich of Olalla, and Clint Berry of Highland Ranch, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Cheryl Vandaveer and her husband, Kirk, of Bend, Ore., one brother, Glenn Cowan of Mesquite, Nev.; one sister, Opal Kelly of Chula Vista, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Laurel Cowan, and two sisters, Zoe (Cowan) Heath and Margaret (Cowan) DeVinney.
At her request, there will be no services.
Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
