Clark, Donald Wednesday, 23 Oct 2002
Donald C. Clark, 63, a resident of Port Orchard, died Oct. 23, 2002. He was born on Aug. 15, 1939 in San Diego, Calif. to Donald and Bea (Smith) Clark.
He graduated from Mission Bay High School in San Diego in 1957 and served in the U.S. Navy as an E-5 ETN2 from 1960 to 1964. He worked as an electronics technician at Keyport Naval Undersea Warfare Center.
He was a member of the Jr. and Sr. R.O.T.C., N.R.A. and DeMolay. He enjoyed tinkering with mech-anical things and was a Christian.
He is survived by his Mother Bea Clark of Port Orchard, brother Ron Clark of Sunnyside, Wash., niece Ginger Corbin and nephew Jim Corbin.
A private service will be held at the Tahoma National cemetery in Kent, Wash. Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Posey, Margie Friday, 18 Oct 2002
Margie Ann “Granny” Posey, 65, a resident of Port Orchard, died Oct. 18, 2002. She was born Nov. 6, 1936 in Port Orchard to Ray and Mary (Wetherell) Theroux.
She married
Alvin Posey June 27, 1953 in Port Orchard.
She attended South Kitsap High School and was a matron and cook for Kitsap County Youth Service Center and a cook for the South Kitsap School District.
She retired in 1992.
She is survived by her husband Alvin Posey; sons Dennis and wife Debbie and Danny and wife Kathy, both of Port Orchard; daughter Debbie Kelly and husband Bill of Port Orchard; sisters Fran Scribner of Port Orchard and Josephine Bradley of Bremerton; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister Viola Hicks.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rill Chapel. Funeral services will be held at Rill Chapel at 1 pm, Thursday, Oct. 24 followed by interment at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Mirador, Richard Friday, 18 Oct 2002
Richard I. Mirador, 94, a resident of Port Orchard, died Oct. 18, 2002 at Washington Veterans Home in Retsil. He was born June 3, 1908 in the Philippine Islands to Mariano and Leocadia (Mira) Mirador. He married
Celerina (Daffon) Mirador Jan. 4, 1950 in the Philippines. She preceded him in death in 1999.
He served as a U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 as a Staff Ser-geant and worked at PSNS for several years. He retired in 1972.
He was a member of various Filipino-American Clubs, the VFW and Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his daughters Alice Linsao and Julie Pulk of Port Orchard, Lavinia Wright of Bremerton, Caroline Moldovan of Burien, Mary Plunk of Bothell and Evelyn Jenkins of Corvallis, Ore.; and 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Celerina and his daughter Rachel.
Rosary services were held at Rill Chapel on Oct. 24 and a mass was held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Oct. 25 followed by interment at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Coates, Dennis Thursday, 17 Oct 2002
Dennis Coates was born Jan. 6, 1947, to Paul and Hazel Coates in Seattle.
He died Oct. 17, after suffering a heart attack at the summit of Mount Ellinor in the Olympic Mountains while on a day hike.
He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1966 and from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio in 1970. He had a great love of books and worked as a librarian and later as an orchardist.
He enjoyed the Port Orchard Farmer’s Market and the Harper Park Improvement Club. He devoted the last years of his life caring for his mother following her serious accident.
He is survived by his mother, his brother Norman of Sumner and four nieces, Carin Myers, Kristi Olsen, Joelle Tweit and Megan Duty.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Brian.
Memorial services will be held at Elanden Gardens, 3050 W SR 16 near Gorst, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Kitsap County Explorer Search and Rescue, PO Box 3191, Silverdale, WA 98383.
Chase, Richard Wednesday, 16 Oct 2002
Richard “Dick” Chase, 64, a resident of Port Orchard, died Oct. 16, 2002 at Harrison Hospital.
He was born in Rockford, Ill. to Roy and Opal (Garman) Chase on Aug. 14, 1938.
He married
Peggy (Wil-kie) Chase in July 1969 in Nevada.
He graduated from Clover Park High School in 1957 and attended Whitworth College and the University of Puget Sound.
He was a truck sales/ manager at Capitol Chevrolet for four years and was rated as one of the “Top 10” salesmen in the country for Chevrolet in 1972 and 1973.
He was in sales management at Bayside Ford in Port Orchard for 25 years.
He enjoyed boating and being out on the water. He spent most of his leisure time working on boats, a total of 36 boats in his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife Peggy; sons Jason of Bainbridge Island, Riley of Port Orchard, Richard and Randy; daughter Robin Chase of Seattle; and sister Kathryn Barber of Tacoma.
A memorial service was held at Rill Chapel on, Oct. 25.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Hall, James Saturday, 23 Nov 2002
James Randolph Hall, 74, a resident of Port Orchard, died Nov. 23, 2002.
He was born Dec. 3, 1927, in New London, Conn., to R. Adm. F.S. and Gertrude (McDiarmid) Hall. He graduated from Fredonia High School in Fredonia, N.Y., in 1946.
He then went to Cornell Univer-sity in Ithaca, N.Y., served in the Army Air Corps and graduated from the Uni-versity of Wash-ington in 1950.
He married
Catherine Fauntz on June 8, 1951, in Seattle.
He worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration in Alaska, Colorado and Oklahoma before joining Hewlett-Packard in Washington, D.C., in 1959. He served as regional manager in New England until his early retirement in 1985.
After retiring, he and his wife moved to Port Orchard to run Reflections Bed and Breakfast.
He was active in the Port Orchard Rotary Club, South Kitsap Chamber of Commerce, Kitsap Literacy Council and Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed boating, golfing, flying his Cessna 172, Huskies and Mariners games, woodworking, gardening and playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Catherine; their four children, Duff and Ginger Hall of Corvallis, Ore., Pamela Hall of Portland, Ore., Stacy (Hall) and Tom Brink of Phoenix, Ariz., and Julie Hall and Mark Finerty of Kensington, N.H.; and six grandsons and one granddaughter.
Funeral arrangements were made by Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Rotary Foundation in care of Port Orchard Rotary Club.
Presley, Sharon Saturday, 23 Nov 2002
Sharon Arlene Presley, 61, a Port Orchard resident, died Nov. 23, 2002.
She was born Aug. 20, 1941 in Pow-ell, Wyo.
She married
Delbert Presley in Powell and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband Delbert; son John W. Presley of Silverdale; Brenda K. Presley and her fiancee Don Hagen and Kimberly E. Presley, both of Port Orchard; sister Cheryl Zundel and her husband Harold of Laurel, Mont.; and her grandchildren Jacqueline S. Presley and Aaron Presley of Yelm.
She was preceded in death by her brother Perry Robbins.
Visitation was Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at the Lewis chapel.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at the First Lutheran Church.

Lewis, Carol Thursday, 21 Nov 2002
Carol M. Lewis, 64, a resident of Port Orchard for 36 years, died Nov. 21, 2002.
he attended church at the Family Worship Center and Spirit of Truth Fellowship. Carol was a partner with her husband, Don, in Westbay Auto Parts for many years.
She was a 30-year member of the Port Orchard Eagles No. 2338. Carol enjoyed theological studies and was nearing completion of a degree in Christian Theology.
Family members include her sons, Richard D., Kevin J., and Kenneth I. Lewis (Jenee); daughters Ginger L. Blowers (Larry) and Tina M. Rauch (Scott L.) all of Port Orchard; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Keith Housiaux; sister Valerie Williams; and “Grandma G.G.”
Visitation was held Sunday, Nov. 24 and funeral services Monday, Nov. 25, at Haven of Rest Funeral Home. Remembrances in Carol’s name may be made to Spirit of Truth Fellowship, PO Box 1684, Port Orchard, WA 98366.
Beitel, Leonard Thursday, 21 Nov 2002
Leonard C. Beitel, 70, a resident of Port Orchard, died Nov. 21, 2002.
He was born April 23, 1932, in Saline, Mo., to Daniel and Ruth Hazel (Osborn) Beitel.
He married
Berta E. Schlipf on Jan. 22, 1961 in Vancouver, Wash.
She preceded him in death in 2000.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was an Iron Worker on the West Coast for 35 years.
He retired in 1990.
He was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles, loved fishing, hunting, pool, card playing, car tinkering, playing guitar and fixing watches.
He is survived by his daughter Vicki Beitel of California; brothers Marvin L. Beitel of Kentucky and Earl Beitel of California.
Visitation was held at Rill Chapel on Nov. 29, 2002. A graveside service and interment will be held Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor.
