Young, Cora Fri, 10 May 2002
Cora Lynette Young, 81, a former Port Orchard resident, died May 10, 2002, at Port Orchard Care Center. She was born Nov. 11, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Elizabeth (Zimmerman) and Fenton Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband William C. Young in 1996.
She graduated from Franklin High School in Los Angeles, Calif. in 1938 and Santa Barbara State Teachers College in 1942. She retired after 20-plus years as a school teacher in Santa Barbara. Cora was an artist and a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son William A. Young of Coupeville, Wash. and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Tillamook, Ore.
Arrangements were made by Rill Chapel.
Asbridge, Adrienne Thu, 09 May 2002
Adrienne “Kay” Asbridge, 85, died May 9 at her home in Vancouver, Wash. A long-time resident of Port Orchard, she had recently relocated to Washington after a 25-year residency in Sun City, Ariz.
She was a wife and mother, and had a real estate business in Manchester.
She is survived by three sons: Carl, of Marion, Texas; Robert, Jr., of Vancouver, Wash.; and, Michael, of Snohomish; one daughter, Aimee, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.
Services will be held at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church, Sun City, Ariz.
Jacobsen, Harriett Mon, 06 May 2002
Harriett M. Jacobsen, 94, a former Bremerton resident, died May 6 2002 at Marine Courte in Bremerton. She was born Sept. 10, 1908 in Lynden, Wash., to James and Ann (Fellerdewex) Hill.
She graduated from Lynden High School in 1925 and St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Bellingham in 1930. She was a nurse in Kitsap County for 42 years, retiring in 1972.
She belonged to Retired Nurses Guild in Port Orchard and Belling-ham, she loved to sew, knit and travel. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard and Holy Trinity in Bremerton.
She is survived by her sons Stephen foster of Port Ludlow, Dave Foster of Port Orchard, Don Foster of Trialdelphia, W. Va. and Richard Jacobsen of Everett; daughters Harriett Robinson of Auburn, Linda San Gregory of Tiffin, Ohio, and Martha Morken of Bremerton; 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Harriett was preceded in death by her daughter Rosalie Black, her son Eugene Jacobsen, her first husband Floyd E. Foster and her second husband Paul Jacobsen.
Services were held May 10, 2002, at Rill Chapel. Inurnment was at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements were made by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Gleason, Cathy Sat, 04 May 2002
Cathy Gleason, age 60, Portland, Ore., formerly of Port Orchard, died May 4 at her home.
She was born on April 2, 1942, in Bremerton Private Hospital, but lived in Port Orchard wile attending South Kitsap Schools.
She married
Louis Gleason and they had six children. She was preceded in death by her father Alva E. Bard.
Survivors include her mother Margaret Bard of Port Orchard; her husband Louie Gleason of Portland, Ore.; and her sons Eddie, Joe, Mark, Mary, Johnny and John; two sisters, Virginia Leighton and Shirley McKie, both of Port Orchard; various nieces and nephews and uncles.
A memorial mass is scheduled for May 18th at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 1150 Mitchell Ave. at 2:00. Cremation arrangements were made at Little Chapel of Chimes, NE Kilensworth, Portland, Ore.

Virginia P. May, 84, a former resident of Bremerton, died May 4, 2002 at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center. She was born In Port Orchard on March 4, 1918 to Arthur and Pauline (Elofsen) Lund. Her husband, Clifford L. May, preceded her in death in 1996. They were married
in Seattle May 22, 1978.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1936 and attended Washington State University. She worked as a deputy clerk at the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office and retired in 1978 after 30 years.
She is survived by her step sons Jack May of Kirkland, Dan May of Edmonds and Bill Mangan of Torrance, Calif.; daughters Gale McInnes of Bremerton and step daughters Nancy Rogers of Sherman Oakes, Calif., Mary Misitis of Miami, Fla., Juanita Mitchell of Long Beach, Calif., and Candace Owens also of Long Beach; sister Muriel Riggs and her husband Jack, and 2 grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren.
There will be no services per her request. Arrangements were made by Miller Woodlawn.
Hoover, Edna Sat, 04 May 2002
Edna T. Hoover, 85, a long-time resident of Port Orchard, passed away May 4, 2002, in Burien, Wash. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Thomas Hoover, and is survived by her daughters Joyous Pettersen, of Bothell; Claire Spurgeon and son-in-law Chester Spurgeon, of Kent; grandchildren Debbie (Terry) Bigger, Laurie (Tim) Tolonen, Kim Perrine, Bill Petterson and Bob (Sherry) Spurgeon; great-grandchildren Mark, Jason and Robert Bigger, Stephanie and Bryan Perriane, Katie, Kely and Christie Tolonen, Alix, Harli and Micah Spurgeon, and sister Beatrice (Charles) Rubins of Dalson, Wis.
Cremation is being handled by Bleitz Funeral Home of Seattle. At her request, there will be no services. Remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association.
Blair, Judith Friday, 01 Nov 2002
Judith Anne Blair, 62, a resident of Seattle, died Nov. 1, 2002 at Harborview Hospital. She was born Nov. 1, 1940 in Seattle to Richard and Marjorie (Bell) Blair.
She graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Or-chard in 1958 and attended Olympic College in Bremerton and Washington State Univer-sity in Pullman. She was an assistant librarian at the Univer-sity of Washington for 40 years.
She was secretary-treasurer for the Wayfarer Cooperative in the University District in Seat-tle.
She is survived by her mother Marjorie Blair of Bremerton and her cousin William C. Bell of Port Orchard.
Interment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Ryan, John Monday, 28 Oct 2002
John N. Ryan, 82, a resident of Port Orchard, died Oct. 28, 2002 in Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard. He was born March 27, 1920 in Newark, N.J. to John and Mildren (McQuavy) Ryan.
He graduated from Sedro Wooley High School and then served in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated a Standard service station in El Cajon, Calif. and repaired travel trailers. He retired in the late 1970s.
He enjoyed flying and was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles.
He is survived by his son John N. Ryan, Jr., of Seattle; daughters Sharon A. Ryan of Seattle and Shirlee Toman of Auburn; sister Patricia Stone of Port Orchard; and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Rill Chapel Saturday, November 9, 2002, at 2 p.m. followed by inurnment at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Clark, Ervin Friday, 01 Nov 2002
Ervin “Sonny” L. Clark, 66, a resident of Bremerton, died Nov. 1, 2002, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Dec. 10, 1935, in Missoula, Mont. to Ervin and Alvina (Shaffer) Clark. He married
Madeline “Midge” (Mogg) Clark on June 15, 1957, in Nome, Alaska.
He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1975.
He worked for the U.S. Air Force in a civilian capacity at Clear Air Force Base in Alaska and held that position for 15 years. He retired in 1990.
He is survived by his wife Madeline; sons Ervin “Boo” L. Clark and Gerhard Clark; daughters Theresa Carrahar, Jean Marie Anderson and Mary Ann Teegardin; and 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Bernadette Freeman.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Rill Chapel and inurnment at Tahoma National cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Busek, Jack Friday, 25 Oct 2002
Jack L. Busek, 69, a resident of Port Orchard, died Oct. 25, 2002. He was born on March 6, 1933 in Bismark, N.D. to John and Lila (Steen) Busek.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from Jan. 1953 to Dec. 1954 earning the Korean Service Medal. He worked as a milkman for Darigold Milk Co. in Bremerton for 39 years, retiring in 1991.
He enjoy-ed fishing, hunting, boating and being outdoors.
He is survived by son John Busek and his wife of Key Center; daughter Jerri Law and her husband Greg of Port Orchard; brothers Loren Busek of Montana and Ken Busek of Port Orchard; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his brother Stanley Busek.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Oct. 30, 2002 at Rill Chapel followed by inurnment at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Jones, Rheta Friday, 25 Oct 2002
Rheta Sara Jones, 82, a resident of Port Orchard, died Oct. 25, 2002. She was born on Sept. 20, 1920 in Bozeman, Mont., to Thomas and Maude (Jackson) Williams.
She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane in 1938 and worked as a hostess with Perkins Restaurant and as a housekeeper in the Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.
She attended the Christian Life Center in Port Orchard and To the Cross Wind Church in Spokane.
She is survived by her son LeRoy Albott of Portland, Ore.; daughters Darlene Strong of Spokane and Carol Jack of Port Orchard; and 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John W. Jones, brother Lee Williams and sister Merle Mullen.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home in Spokane followed by interment at Riverside Memorial Park.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
Peden, Dolores Thursday, 24 Oct 2002
Dolores Beverly Peden, 77, a resident of Bremerton, died Oct. 24, 2002, at Belmont Terrace. She was born on April 22, 1925, in Menahga, Minn. to Alvin and Mabel (Richardson) Johnson. She married
Foyie B. Peden on April 8, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1997.
She graduated from Meridian High School in Bellingham and was a homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening and was a Christian.
She is survived by her son Richard Peden and his wife Freda of Port Orchard; daughter Beverly Moreno and her husband Ernie of Bremerton; brother Dale Johnson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; sister Shirley Larsen of Lynnwood; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funer-al Home at Rill Chapel.
