Estep, Mary ìRuthî Wed, 29 May 2002
Mary “Ruth” Estep, 83, of Belfair, died May 29, 2002 at her residence.
She was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Wilcox, Neb., to Eber and Mary Francis (Hopkins) Cory.
Her husband Arthur Ray Estep preceded her in death in 1986.
She attended High School in Arriba, Colo., graduated in 1936 and attended senior computing classes and various quilting classes after age 75.
She was a Tupperware Manager and retired in 1994 after 38 years. At 75 she began a new career as an office assistant at her daughter’s law office.
She enjoyed church activities, sewing, gardening, baking bread and goodies for family and friends. She was also a pastor’s wife and aided with shepherding a congregation at Port Orchard Church of God Seventh Day for over 40 years.
She is survived by her sons Darrell Allen Estep, Paul Alvin Estep, both of Port Orchard; Harold Arthur Estep and Virgil Arnold Estep, both of Puyallup; daughter Lillian Ruth Schauer of Port Orchard; brother Marvin Cory of Auburn; 18 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Fred Cory, Vera Cory Brittain, Fleet Cory and Marion Cory.
A memorial was held at Rill Chapel on June 3. Inurnment at Miller Woodlawn in Bremerton.

Libby, David Sat, 25 May 2002
David Allen Libby, 66, a Port Orchard resident, died May 25, 2002 at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 8, 1935 in Bangor, Maine, to Levi and Bertha (Vintinner) Livengood. He is survived by his wife Beverly (Rhodes) Libby.
He graduated high school in 1952. He was a supervisor of maintenance for the City of Port Orchard for 23 years retiring in Dec. 2001.
He was also an ordained Episcopalean minister but was non-denominational in practice.
He is survived by his sons David Allen Libby Jr of Waterboro, Maine and Dana Sean Libby of Biddeford, Maine; daughters Stephanie Livengood of Port Orchard, Martha Childress also of Port Orchard and Carol Lee Libby of St. Jude, Mo.; brothers Robert Libby of Norridgewock, Maine, Edward Libby of Pownal, Maine and Raymond Libby of Augusta, Maine; sisters Edith Wood of Winthrop, Maine and Patricia Sweeney of Livermore, Maine; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and his parents.
Services were held May 30, 2002 at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery at a later date. Arrangements were made by Rill Chapel.

Strong, Beatrice Sat, 25 May 2002
Beatrice Lesher Strong, 89, a former Gig Harbor resident of 42 years, passed away on May 25, 2002. She was born in Taylor, Wash. on Feb. 23, 1913. Her husband LeRoy preceded her in death in 1995.
She is survived by her daughter Elvice (Tom) McAlpine of Pasa-dena, Calif., son Terry (Patti) Strong of Port Orchard, 5 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Haven of Rest Chapel Sat. June 1 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements were made by Haven of Rest.
Remembrances may be made to the Olalla Bible church, 13053 Olalla Valley Rd. SE, Olalla, WA 98359 or Christ the Rock Com-munity Church, PO Box 1336, Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Rodstol, Harry Sat, 25 May 2002
Harry E. Rodstol, 86, a former resident of Wenatchee, died May 25, 2002, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
He was born Aug. 15, 1915, in Harper to Ole and Pernille (Sather) Rodstol.
His wife Betty Jean Stoecker died in 1950 and his wife Dorris died in 1992.
He graduated from Vashon High School in 1934. In the U.S. Army during WWII he served with the 10th Armored Division.
He worked for the Van De Camps Bakery in Seattle for 25 years, retiring in 1980.
He loved gardening and working outdoors on his property in South Kitsap. He attended Christian Life Center in Port Orchard.
He is survived by his son David Rodstol and his wife Marcia of Wenatchee; brothers Laurence Rodstol of West Seattle and Leonard Rodstol of Southworth; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Olaf Oswald and Henry Rodstol and his sister Margaret Westlund.
A funeral will be held at South Park Assembly of God on June 5, 2002 at 1:00pm. Interment following at Sedgewick cemetery in Port Orchard.
Arrangements were made by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Noehl, Rosetta Mon, 20 May 2002
Rosetta L. Noehl, 71, a former resident of Manchester, died May 20, 2002 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She was born in Milaca, Minn. on June 27, 1930 to Ernest G. and Olive V. (Peterson) An-derson.
She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Noehl in 1992.
She graduated from Pechastin High School in Pechastin, Wash., in 1948. She was a nurse’s aid at Swedish Hospital in Seattle and a CNA at Ridgemont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She enjoyed collecting angels, reading and crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a Lutheran.
She is survived by her daughter Juanita Fox of Bremerton; brothers Floyd Anderson of Tuscon, Ariz., Dane Anderson of Seattle and Dewey Anderson of Bothell; sister June Juul of Bothell; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lois Noehl.
A memorial service will be held Saturday June 1, 2002 at 1:00pm at Rill Chapel. Inurnment at Abby View cemetery in Brier, Wash.

Rodstol, Henry Mon, 20 May 2002
Henry Edward Rodstol, 86, a former Port Orchard resident, died May 20, 2002 at Evergreen Nursing & Rehab Center in Olym-pia.
He was born Aug. 11, 1915, in Harper to Ole & Pernille (Sather) Rodstol. His wife Freda (Leighton) preceded him in death in 1995.
He graduated from Vashon High School on Vashon Island in 1934. He served in the US Army Air Corps in the WWII European Theater. He met his wife while stationed in England. Henry was a rigger at PSNS for 34 years, retiring in 1974.
He enjoyed traveling and gardening and was a member of Harper Evangelical Free Church.
He is survived by his son James Rodstol of Connell, Wash.; daughters Perkita (Peter) Sweet of Olympia and Charlotte (David) Mullen of New Castle, Wash.; brothers Lawrence Rodstol of Seattle, Leonard Rodstol of Harper and Harry Rodstol of Wenatchee; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Olaf and Oswald Rodstol and his sister Margaret Westlund.
Visitation was May 24, 2002, at Rill Chapel, services were at Harper Evangelical Free Church and interment at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Arrangements were by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Sporkman, Frank Mon, 20 May 2002
Frank Sporkman, 57, a Port Orchard resident for 5 years, died May 20, 2002. He was born in Fort Madison, Iowa on Nov. 26, 1944. He worked for TWA/American Airlines for 33 years. He was a member of I.A.M. (Machinists & Aerospace Workers) for 33 years.
Family members include his wife Zofia Sporkman of Port Orchard; mother Anita Sporkman of Iowa; sisters Dixie of Illinois and Carol of Iowa.
A memorial Mass was held May 29 at St. Gabriels Church in Port Orchard. Arrangements by Haven of Rest, Gig Harbor.

Thorpe, Cecile Sat, 18 May 2002
Cecile E. Thorpe, 90, and a resident of Ocean Shores, Wash. for the past year, died on Saturday, May 18, 2002, in Grays Harbor Community in Aberdeen, Wash. She was born on May 2, 1912, in green Bay, Wis., to John Peter and Ida Marie (Derenne) Euclid.
She was raised and attended schools in Green Bay, graduating from Green Bay High School in 1929 and earning her nursing degree Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1933.
She then worked as a nurse at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay.
She married Tillford B. Thorpe in 1934. He preceded her in death in 1978.
She was a member of the Catholic Church, a former member of the Altar Society at Christ the King Catholic Church in Seattle and a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis.
She is survived by her sons Richard J. Thorpe of Edmonds, Wash. and Donald J. Thorpe of Lebanon, Mo.; daughter M. Karen Walters of Ocean Shores; sister Mildred Christensen of Susanville, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son James T. Thorpe of Hornell, N.Y.
The family has requested donations to the St. Jerome Memorial Fund, PO Box 190, Ocean Shores, WA 98569 or the the Fund for the Blind, Ocean Shores Lions Club, PO Box 938, Ocean Shores, WA 98569.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Jerome Catholic Church at Hogans Corner, Wash.
Direction is by the Coleman Mortuary, Hoquiam.

Robins, Vetral Fri, 17 May 2002
Vetral Ruby Robins of E. Wenatchee, Wash. died May 17, 2002 at Highline Convalescence Center.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1914 in Wideman, Ark., to Garland and Nora (Long) McCollum.
Her husband Flavil preceded her in death in 1987.
She and her husband developed a fruit or-chard in partnership with their children. She was a homemaker, loved to sew, quilt and visit the sick.
She is survived by her sons Charles Robins (Beverly) of Wenatchee; Jess Robins (Bernice) of Vancouver, Wash.; and Jerry Robins (Lorna) of Port Orchard; half-sister and half-brother Mildred and Hayden Kankey of Wideman, Ark.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private family graveside service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the church of choice or the the Alzheimer’s Research Program.
Arrangements were by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, E. Wenatchee, Wash.
