Nelson, Myrtle Fri, 05 Apr 2002
Myrtle Nelson, 89, a Port Orchard resident of 30 years, died April 5, 2002.
Nelson was born Sept. 1, 1912, in Olalla to a pioneer family.
Her grandparents, Otto and Amelia Carlson, homesteaded in Olalla in 1880.
Her parents were David and Inga (Rongen) Carlson.
She attended Olalla Grade School and South Kitsap High School and was part of the class of 1931. She married
Eric Nelson on July 3, 1933. They were married
61 years until Eric died in 1994.
They leave three children: daughters Nancy (Jerry) Lyman of Port Orchard and Sharon (Don) Stephens of Woodland, Wash., and son Ron (Cletis) Nelson of Purdy, Wash., seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her twin sister, Ethel Olund, of Manchester; brothers Lee Carlson of Port Orchard and Alvin Carlson of Olalla, and granddaughter Leila Nelson.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 13, 2002, at Haven of Rest.

Tripp, Ancilla Mon, 01 Apr 2002
Ancilla Tripp, 87, a former Port Orchard resident, died April 1, 2002, at the Messenger House on Bainbridge Island.
She was born Aug. 13, 1914 in Italy to Valentino and Mary (Savio) Gabino.
Her husband, Harold E. Tripp, preceded her in death in 1991.
Tripp was a homemaker and a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son Val Milan of British Columbia, and her daughter Teresa Murray of Seattle, Wash.
A mass was held Monday April 8, 2002 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Interment was at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements were made by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Damschen, Lori Sat, 30 Mar 2002
Lori Richard Damschen, 47, a former Port Orchard resident, died March 30, 2002 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 19, 1954 in Bremerton to Bruce and Elfriede (Heidenreich) Richards.
Damschen graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1973 and worked 15 years as a meat wrapper for Thriftway.
She is survived by her parents; son Shawn Damschen of Corain, Mont.; daughter Brooke Pope of Belfair, Wash.; sisters Marian Cline of Kent. and Evy Pope of Westport.; and two grandchildren, Dustin and Kendal Pope of Belfair.

Hammrich, Laurence Tue, 26 Mar 2002
Laurence S. Hammrich, 89, a former Port Orchard resident, died March 26, 2002, in Bremer-ton, Wash.
He was born Feb. 3, 1913 in Ipswich, S. D. to John and Ann (Huber) Hammrich.
He attended schools in Ed-munds County, S. D. and married
Hilda C. Rempher, who preceded him in death in 1993.
Hammrich was a farmer for 26 years and operated a second-hand store for 10 years retiring in 1975. He collected pocket watches, enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go to auctions. He was a Lutheran.
Hammrich is survived by his sons Harlan D. Hammrich and Ronald L. Hammrich of Port Orchard; daughter Ronda Ken-drick of Port Orchard; brother Floyd Hammrich of Leola, S.D.; sister Irene Houser of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters and his granddaughter Becky Hammrich.
Services and interment were held March 29, 2002 at West Hills Memorial Park in Yakima.

Titus, Evelyn Mon, 25 Mar 2002
Evelyn Titus, 86, died March 25, 2002.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1915.
She is survived by her husband Gilbert Titus, Sr.; her daughter Karen Wilson of Tacoma; sons Norman Parmelee of Kalispell, Mont., Bill Bird of Aloha, Ore., Jack Titus of Port Orchard and Gilbert Titus of Wenatchee.
She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Port Orchard Eagles as well as a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge.
A memorial service to celebrate Evelyn Titus’ life was held Saturday, March 30, 2002 at the Port Orchard Eagles.

Sicks, Buford Sat, 23 Mar 2002
Buford H. Sicks, 87, a former resident of South Colby, died March 23, 2002 at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
He was born May 21, 1914 in Browns Valley, Ind. to Austin and Nellie (Lydle) Sicks. He married
Pauline Ruth (Hinds) Oct. 5, 1934, in Crawfordsville, Ind.
She preceded him in death in 1995.
Sicks graduated from Wayne-town High School in Waynetown, Ind., and worked for 29 years as a US Postmaster, retiring in 1978.
He was past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his sons David W. Sicks of Tonasket, Wash., and Donald E. Sicks of Brookhaven, Miss.; sisters Helen Timmons of Darlington, Ind., and Mildred Goode of LaFayette, Ind.; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Sicks was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Strube, Ruth Sat, 23 Mar 2002
Ruth Louise Strube, 76, of Port Orchard died March 23, 2002 in Seattle. She was born Sept. 21, 1925 in Port Orchard to Oswald and Marcia (Hawkes) Maurer.
She married
James F. Strube Nov. 10, 1945.
Strube grad-uated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard in 1943 and from Tacoma General Nursing Corp. in Tacoma, Wash.
She worked 20 years as a purchasing agent at PSNS Navy Exchange.
Her main interests were Port Orchard City Planning Commis-sion and Puget Sound Genealo-gical Society. She was a member of Port Orchard St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Ruth is survived by her husband Jim Strube; daughters Carol Losey of Spanaway; Marcia Buchanan of Gig Harbor; Patricia Cummings of Petaluma, Calif.; Susan Brusch of Portland, Ore.; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son William Strube and her brother Sidney M. Maurer.
Rosary location will be at St. Gabriel Catholic Church March 27, 2002 at 10:00am. Service will be at 11:00am. Interment location will be Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

McKim, Kerry Wed, 20 Mar 2002
Kerry A. McKim, 56, of Port Orchard died March 20, 2002 at his home. He was born March 14, 1946, in Hartford, Conn., to Albert and Priscilla (Fay) McKim. He Married S. Louise (Miller) McKim March 25, 1967 in San Diego.
McKim graduated from Basin High School in Basin, Wyoming, in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 4, 1964, to July 7, 1993, as a Master Chief and earned the Navy Commendation Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
McKim enjoyed leathercrafting, tinkering on old cars and working in the yard. He was a Christian.
McKim is survived by his wife S. Louise McKim; his son Kerry Raymond McKim of Santee, Calif.; his daughter Sonya Joann Elder of Port Orchard; his brother Dana I. McKim of Burnville, Minn.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held March 27, 2002 at First Lutheran Church. His cremated remains will be scattered at sea by the U.S. Navy. Arrangements were made by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Siegert, Ruth Tue, 19 Mar 2002
Ruth Irene Siegert, 82, a former Port Orchard resident, died March 19, 2002 at Port Orchard Care Center.
She was born Nov. 20, 1919 in Yakima, Wash. to Archibald and Lela (Gifford) Thompson. She married
Carl Siegert who preceded her in death in 1977.
She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening and sewing.
She is survived by her son Ed Hinchey of Orlando, Fla.; daughters Beverly Beckner and Sharon Hamilton both of Port Orchard; her sister Betty Boink of Port Orchard; and nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will be at Fraola cemetery. Arrangements were made by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Jordan, Aileen Fri, 31 May 2002
Aileen Karen Jordan (Brunner), a 25 year resident of Port Orchard, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2002.
She was a mother of three and grandmother who loved cooking, ceramics, shopping and her cats.
She loved going for drives and sightseeing.
She is survived by her two sons, Wallace L. Jordan of Port Orchard and Ray Jordan of Bremerton; her daughter Margaret Mc-Collum of Virginia Beach, Va.; her sister Colleen McGehee of Kennewick; and her nephew Thomas McGhee of Green Bay, Wis.; and grandchildren Stephen Jordan of Port Orchard, Meghan Bryson-Barker, and Kyle Mc-Collum of Virgina Beach, Va.
