Barbara Norene Hatch
July 21, 1939 -- Nov. 10, 2003
Barbara Norene Hatch died of cancer in Sequim at age 64.
Mrs. Hatch was born in Eugene, Ore., to Murray Oscar and Ida (Carson) Leeper.
She was married
to Oliver Updegraff from 1959 to 1970. They divorced.
She married
Kenneth W. Hatch in 1973; he died in 1997.
She married
James Michael Whitney on Sept. 12, 2003.
Mrs. Hatch was a secretary in Alaska and Seattle. She and husband Kenneth Hatch owned a well drilling business in Alaska until 1996.
Mrs. Hatch enjoyed flowers, wild birds, reading and picture puzzles. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Oregon coast.
Survivors include her husband, James M. Whitney, of Sequim; sons David Wayne Updegraff of Springfield, Ore., and George Oliver Updegraff of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter Lisa R. Bishop of Anchorage, Alaska; stepdaughters Renee Poe of Ohio and Patrice Marlow of Fairbanks, Alaska; brother Bill Leeper of Newport, Ore., and Leonard ``Butch" Leeper of Denver, Colo.; sister Laura Leonard of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: At her request none. Sequim Valley Chapel is in charge.
Louise S. Haver
Feb. 3, 1920 -- Nov. 12, 2003
Louise S. Haver of Sequim died at age 83. Cause of death is pending.
She was born in Warsaw, Poland, to John and Anna (Syryduk) Gwickduk and was moved to Canada when she was six weeks old.
She graduated from high school in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
After being trained as a tailor, she had a lifelong interest in sewing. She also enjoyed cooking.
In 1968, she married
Henning Haver in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1969, they moved to California.
She is survived by her husband, one brother and three sisters.
Services: At her request, none. Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, is in charge.

John Townsend LeSage
Dec. 29, 1923 -- Nov. 11, 2003
Sequim resident John Townsend LeSage died of lung cancer at age 79.
He was born in South Pasadena, Calif., to Armand John and Johanna Loretta (Kniest) LeSage.
He served with the Army Air Corps as a radio mechanic in 1943-45, and was discharged with the rank of private.
He married
Marjorie Lee Close in Long Beach, Calif., on Jan. 11, 1948.
Mr. LeSage was an oilfield worker and marine hardware salesman in Santa Barbara, Calif., and Long Beach, Calif., before coming to Sequim.
He enjoyed fishing and building and fixing items in his garage shop.
Mr. LeSage is survived by his wife; sons Richard John LeSage and William Franklin LeSage of Sequim; son Robert Earl LeSage of Puyallup; daughter Jeri Jeanette Newell of Sequim; daughter Leta Elaine Gibbs of Poway, Calif.; sister Genette Elizabeth LeSage Mallon of Sequim; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Armand Clement LeSage and Joseph LeSage.
Services: Monday, Nov. 17, 2 p.m., graveside service in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road. The Rev. Thomas W. Beattie will preside. Sequim Valley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Charles Hannan
May 31, 1930 -- Nov. 12, 2003
Sequim resident Michael Charles Hannan died of cancer in St. Peter's Hospital, Olympia, at age 73.
He was born to Charles J. and Ceceila Agnes (Kubin) Hannan in Houston.
Because of his studious nature, he attended several colleges and was a world traveler in his youth.
In addition to working as a railroad clerk in Portland, Ore., his attraction to books led him to become a buyer for a Portland bookstore.
He later owned Michael Hannan Books in Sequim.
He was a former mayoral candidate, and was member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
He never married

Mr. Hannan is survived by brothers Chuck, Tim, Pat, Dan and Bill Hannan, and sisters Fran, Ruth and Mary Hannan.
Services: Saturday, Nov. 15, 1 p.m., graveside service at Sequim View cemetery, 1505 Sequim-Dungeness Way. The Rev. Thomas Beattie will preside. Sequim Valley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Gary Michael Kish
Aug. 2, 1931 -- Nov. 11, 2003
Port Angeles resident Gary Michael Kish died in Virginia Mason Medical Center, Seattle, at age 72.

Muriel A. Metcalf
March 3, 1923 -- Nov. 8, 2003
Former Port Angeles resident Muriel A. Metcalf died of cardiac arrest in Vancouver, Wash., at age 80.
She was born in Seattle to John Werner and Johanna (Sloane) Carlson.
In 1940, she married
Glen Joseph Metcalf, who died in 1994.
Mrs. Metcalf was a postal carrier and clerk who lived in Port Angeles from 1953 to 1990.
She is survived by son Brian of Gig Harbor; daughters Judith Metcalf of Vancouver, Wash., Tinette Paulsen of Seldovia, Alaska, and Glenna Sue Monroe of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services: Today, Nov. 14, 11 a.m., funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 S. Andresen Road, Vancouver, Wash., with the Rev. Peter Gillette officiating.
Burial will be in Willamette National cemetery, 11800 SE Mount Scott Boulevard, Portland, Ore.

Port Angeles resident Leslie J. Samples died in Virginia Mason Medical Center, Seattle, at age 76.

COLIN KING GREGORY
Colin King Gregory, 21, of Clallam Bay, Wash., died on November 11, 2003, in Seattle, Wash., as the result of a construction accident.
Colin was born on April 17, 1982, in Port Angeles to Kelly David Gregory and Kim Marie (Parker) Gregory.
Colin was a Clallam Bay High School graduate in 2000, and had attended one year of college.
He was a self-employed carpenter in Clallam Bay and Port Angeles.
He was a member of the Clallam Bay Presbyterian Church and Carpenters Union 1303.
Colin loved every aspect of life.
He loved playing football and basketball with his family in the front yard and at school with his friends.
He even enjoyed working. He had just bought some property and had spent time clearing and leveling, getting ready to build a house.
When he wasn't working on his property, you could often find him helping anyone who needed him. Many times he worked for free.
He loved making people happy. Most of all, Colin loved his family, which included his fiancee, Priscilla.
He especially loved family reunions.
In his free time he could be found camping with friends and family, fishing, clam digging or hunting. Colin loved everyone, and we will continue to love and miss him dearly.
Colin is survived by his fiancee, Priscilla Joy Harris Sangel; his parents, Kim and Kelly Gregory of Clallam Bay; grandparents Lydia and Richard Vogel of Clallam Bay and Laura Gregory of Clallam Bay; and brothers Nathan, Kyle, Jacob and Kelly Gregory, all of Clallam Bay.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers Jerry Gregory and Richard ``Dick" Parker.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. at the Clallam Bay Presbyterian Church. Officiant will be the Rev. Andy Pascua.
Burial will be at the Neah Bay cemetery.
