Patricia Grittman
May 23, 1931 -- May 8, 2004
Port Angeles-born Patricia Grittman died of a stroke in Creswell, Ore. She was 72.
The daughter of Joe and Isabelle (Fuller) Oxenford, she graduated from Crescent High School in 1949.
She married
Bradford Grittman on July 4, 1949. The couple moved to Oregon 47 years ago.
Springfield Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, Springfield, Ore., was in charge of burial.
Kenneth Huether
Aug. 7, 1930 -- May 26, 2004
Sequim resident Kenneth Huether died in Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, at age 73 of an intracranial hemorrhage.
He was born in Alberta to Daniel and Esther (Block) Huether, and moved to Sequim at age 6.
He married
Barbara J. Fox in Aberdeen on June 15, 1958.
Mr. Huether was a dairy farmer and owner/operator of Huether Logging Co.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and active in global missions, participating in construction projects in Mexico, Chile, Dominican Republic and Russia, among other locations.
Mr. Huether's survivors include his wife; sons Ralph of Darrington and Don of Port Angeles; daughters Jacqueline Russell of Port Angeles and Renee Rasco of Auburn; brother James of Arizona; sister Phoebe Britz of Tigard, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Lloyd, Donald and Lynden, and sister Verla Huether.
Services: Saturday, June 5, 4 p.m., memorial in Seventh-day Adventist Church, 255 Medsker Road, Sequim. Pastor Larry McCombs will officiate. Burial will be in Sequim View cemetery. Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Edna Elizabeth Shore
Jan. 22, 1932 -- May 28, 2004
Edna Elizabeth Shore, a Port Angeles homemaker for 70 years, died of congestive heart failure at age 72.
She was born in Wela Park, Mo., to William Randolph and Artie May (Gallauher) Merriman.
She married
Leslie Shore in Lynnwood on April 6, 1974. He died May 10, 1999.
Earlier marriages to Warren Stevens, Clayton Butticci and Sereno Flores ended in divorce.
She was a life member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Shore's survivors include sons Bernie Flores, Warren Stevens and Terry Stevens of Port Angeles; daughters Karen Beck, Karla Pennington and Karey Stevens of Port Angeles; daughter Carmen Kalbfleisch of Mount Vernon; brothers Oliver Stark, Chester Stark, Donald Stark and Lonnie Stark; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers St. Clair Merriman and Lee Stark, and sisters Lucille Landry and Josephine Philbrick.
Services: Tuesday, June 1, noon to 1 p.m., visitation in Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles. Chuck Lilenthol will officiate. Burial in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Eagles Annex, 110 S. Penn St., Port Angeles.

STEVEN GREGORY DOLLARHIDE
Steven Dollarhide was found deceased in his home in Freeland, Washington, on Sunday, May 16, 2004, of natural causes.
He was born on July 2, 1956, to longtime residents of Port Angeles, Gloria Smith-Marlatt Dollarhide and Charles G. Dollarhide.
Steve resided in Port Angeles until 1964, when he moved to Port Townsend and then, in 1967, to Kent with his family.
Steve was employed as a welder and sheet metal worker for Todd Shipyards, and finally for Boeing.
He loved fishing, camping, riding his Harley and boating. He liked to read, use the computer and explore new things or ideas.
Steve was a ``people" person and never met a stranger, and was he seldom able to say ``no" to a plea for help.
Before he became disabled, he delighted in playing with his nephew, who he absolutely adored.
Steve is survived by his mother, Gloria Dollarhide of Kent; his brother Leo Dollarhide of Kent; his sister, Darlene Saviers, and her husband, Jerry Saviers of Fife; and a nephew, Justin Saviers of Fife; four aunts, one uncle, many cousins and his last dog, Cutlass.
He was predeceased by his father and a niece.
A memorial will be scheduled for late June or early July.

CHARLES D. `DON' FILION
Don Filion passed away in Bothell, Washington, just short of his 89th birthday.
He was born in Port Angeles on July 7, 1915, to Charles John Filion and Mabel (Loy) Filion.
He was the grandson of Ishmael Filion, who moved to Port Angeles in 1893 and, with his brothers, started the Filion Sawmill and logging operation.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended the University of Washington.
He married
Rosemary Severse in Port Angeles on May 30, 1940.
Mr. Filion went on to work for the Boeing Company and retired from Boeing in 1984 after 39.5 years as a Senior Cost Analyst.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, of Bothell, a son, John Filion (Seattle), a daughter, Virginia Foulk (Sequim), and 4 grandsons and a great granddaughter.
HARRY J. ROONEY
May 8, 1935- May 10, 2004
Harry passed away in Kalispell, Montana, after a short bout with cancer.
He resided in Eureka, Montana.
Harry was born and raised in Port Angeles.
Services were conducted on May 15, 2004, in Eureka.
Virginia Violet Keeting
Nov. 10, 1911 -- May 25, 2004
Virginia Violet Keeting, a Sequim resident for 55 years and grand marshal of the 1995 Irrigation Festival, died at age 92 following a long illness.
She was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Frank Arthur and Nora Ellen Evelyn (Neal) Gore. She was raised in Oregon and California.
She married
Lt. Cdr. Ralph L. Keeting in Soquel, Calif., on Nov. 10, 1937.
Mrs. Keeting accompanied her husband to his duty assignments at Hawthorne Naval Depot, Nev., as well as Bangor Naval Base in Kitsap County and Indian Island in Jefferson County.
Her own employment included working as a clerk for San Diego County and, during World War II, as an ammunition train dispatcher in Hawthorne.
Mrs. Keeting was employed by Port Angeles Evening News, predecessor to the PDN, from 1956 to 1976.
She started by writing the daily ``Sequim page" and managed the Sequim office until 1972, when she became people editor at the Port Angeles office.
Throughout those years, she received numerous state and national journalism awards. She also edited Dungeness: The Life of a River -- The History of The Dungeness Valley.
Mrs. Keeting belonged to Washington Press Women, Chapter E.P. of P.E.O.; Soroptomist International, Order of Eastern Star and Trinity United Methodist Church as well as being a founding member of the Sequim Museum and Arts Center.
She is survived by daughters Marlene Merritt of Reno, Nev., Sandra Rusinko of Kingman, Ariz., Ginger Elevin of Olympia and Debrah Hansen of Sequim; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her husband died Dec. 24, 1988, and her son, Air Force Capt. Henry Lewis Keeting, in 1974.
Services: Wednesday, June 2, 11 a.m., at graveside in Dungeness cemetery; Saturday, June 5, 3 p.m., memorial service in Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim. The Rev. Gisella Taber will officiate.
A reception at the family home, 340 Frost Road, will follow the memorial service. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie M. Moen
Aug. 9, 1922 -- May 21, 2004
Homemaker Marjorie M. Moen died in Sequim at age 81.
She was born in Bremerton to Wayman F. and Bessie (Stambaugh) Brown.
She married
Clifton Moen in Yuma, Ariz., on Oct. 27, 1951.
In addition to caring for her family, Mrs. Moen enjoyed cooking and traveling.
She was a 23-year resident of Sequim.
Survivors include her husband; daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and Lonnie Love of Anchorage, Alaska; sister Jean Soliere of Arizona; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter Susan M. Moen, brother Carroll Brown, and sisters Kathryn Price and Maxine Peterson.
Services: Private services were held in Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bremerton.
Beverly G. Schilling
Jan. 17, 1934 -- May 22, 2004
Port Angeles resident Beverly G. Schilling died at age 70.
She was born in Los Angeles to Jack and Jenny Carson (Baily) Rusell.
She married
Harvey Lee Schilling in Reno, Nev., on July 26, 1979. He died in 1992.
Before coming to the North Olympic Peninsula, Mrs. Schilling was a sorter for 12 years with Underwood Fruit Co.
She also lived in Goldendale and Sequim.
She enjoyed playing cards and gathering with family.
Services: At her request, none. Olympic Cremation Association is in charge of arrangements.
Virginia Violet Keeting
Nov. 10, 1911 -- May 25, 2004
Virginia Violet Keeting died surrounded by family in her Sequim home at age 92.
M. Faith McArthur
June 15, 1916 -- May 18, 2004
Madeline Faith McArthur of Sequim died in Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Cetner at age 87.
She was born in West Haven, Conn., to Wyndham George and Maude Marianne (Huxley) Wickenden.
She grew up in Ferndale, Mich., where she married
David William McArthur on Oct. 25, 1935.
In 1952, the McArthur moved to California, where he died in Hemet on March 2, 1991.
Mrs. McArthur moved to Sequim in 1994 and enjoyed entertaining while living at Fifth Avenue Retirement Center.
She, also liked to travel, belonged to the Sequim Chapter of P.E.O. and Presbyterian Church, and was a volunteer at the Sequim Museum and Arts Center and Second Chance.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law David W. and Barbara McArthur of Sequim; daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Doug Vivod of Dana Point, Calif.; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Services: At her request, none. Neptune Society of Lynnwood is in charge of burial.
