Daisy Ann Glocheski
May 19, 1945 -- Oct. 23, 2004
Port Angeles resident Daisy Ann Glocheski died at age 59.
She was born in Eugene, Ore., to Willard D. and Lois M. (Weaver) Finely.
She married
Kenneth James Glocheski in Vancouver, Wash., on June 30, 1996.
Mrs. Glocheski, who worked as a bartender at El Amigo Restaurant and Lounge in Port Angeles for 17 years. She was known for her interest in others and for her enjoyment of golfing at Peninsula Golf Club.
In addition to her husband, survivors include stepson Adam and stepdaughter Rozicka, both of Seattle; brother Ed Finley of Coos Bay, Ore.; and sister Madeline Comeall of Aurora, Colo.
Services: None. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles is in charge of cremation.

Forrest Kenneth Harris
July 26, 1917 -- Oct. 25, 2004
Forrest Kenneth Harris died in his Port Angeles home at age 87.

Katherine Holcomb
Jan. 30, 1927 -- Oct. 21, 2004
Port Angeles resident Katherine Holcomb died at age 77.
She was born in Bremerton to Kenneth A. and Josephine (Baird) Cramer.
After college training as a licensed practical nurse, Mrs. Holcomb worked in Bremerton, then moved to the North Olympic Peninsula to continue in her field until retirement.
Her first marriage was to George Redman.
She married
Robert Holcomb in Sequim on March 14, 1989.
She was active in Girl Scouts, square dancing and rodeo activities. After retirement, her pastimes were dancing and playing bingo.
Mrs. Holocomb was a member of Royal Neighbors of America and Eagles.
Survivors include her husband; daughters Kayleen Svedburg of Bremerton, Karin Redman of Renton, Kathy Klein of Auburn and Karol Nayer of Bremerton; sisters Gloria Stone of Port Orchard and Joan Widell of California; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services: Private graveside service in Mount Angeles cemetery, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles. Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge.
Elsie S. Lovelett
Nov. 22, 1934 -- Oct. 24, 2004
Elsie S. Lovelett died in her Sequim home at age 69.

Jane Catherine Scutts
March 11, 1934 --Oct. 23, 2004
Port Townsend resident Jane Catherine Scutts died of cancer at age 70.
She was born in Papeari, Tahiti, to Edward J. and Maioa A Hutia A Teura Spies.
After growing up in Tahiti, Mrs. Scutts lived in Sacramento, Calif., and Australia before moving to Port Townsend.
She married
Kenneth J. Scutts in Reno, Nev., on Sept. 3, 1963.
Mrs. Scutts was a member of Uniting Church in Atherton, Queensland, Australia.
She enjoyed Bible study and gardening as well as spending time with her granddaughters.
Survivors include her husband of Port Townsend; daughter and son-in-law Nancy J. and Mark L. Grant of Port Townsend; and two grandchildren.
She is also survived by sister Ella Spies and sisters and brothers-in-law Marie and Richard Poroi and Christina and Starr Teriitahi, all of Tahiti.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward J. Spies.

Barbara Young
Oct. 14, 1941 -- Oct. 23, 2004
Barbara Young died of lung cancer in her Sequim home at age 63.
She was born in Santa Rosa, Calif., to Norman W. and Laura Gean (Bena) Lester. She graduated from Sequim High School.
In addition to working for the Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railroad in Wishram, she was a cook at Crazy Eric's in Sequim, manager of Red Ranch Motel in Sequim and manager of Aircrest Motel in Port Angeles.
Mrs. Young was a member of Dungeness Community Church and achieved the Grand Cross of Colors in Rainbow.
She enjoyed spending time with children and grandchildren, as well as using her creativity in needlecraft, such as crocheting and embroidering. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and ceramics.
She married
Ronald Meech Sr. in Sequim on Dec. 22, 1959. He died in 1988.
She married
Stanley W. Young, who survives her, on Jan. 3, 1992.
Survivors also include son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Marilyn Meech, Jr., daughter and son-in-law Dorenda and Larry Iyndellin, and brother and sister-in-law William J. and Marilyn Lester, all of Port Angeles; daughter Norma G. Swanson of Rock Falls, Ill., stepdaughter Debbie Tonn of Aloha, Ore.; stepson Steven Young and sister and brother-in-law Kaye and Art Erikson, all of Sequim; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services: Friday, Oct. 29, 1 p.m., memorial and reception in Dungeness Community Church, 45 Eberle Lane, Sequim. The Rev. Neil Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Sequim View cemetery.
Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of cremation and service arrangements.

DR. SELMA WHILT
Age 93. passed away in Port Angeles of congestive heart failure.
Dr. Whilt was born in Rifle, Colorado, on July 14, 1911, to Clara (Rouley) and Oscar Berglund.
She moved to Port Angeles in 1926.
She attended Roosevelt High School, class of 1929, and Western Washington College of Education. She received her Bachelor's Degree at University of Washington, her Master's Degree at the University of Chicago and her Doctorate at the University of Illinois.
She married
Westley Whilt in 1945, in Seattle. He died in 1987.
Dr. Whilt was a teacher and principal in Seattle Public Schools for 29 years. She served as Director of Elementary Education in West Hampton, New York, and Spring Valley, New York, for several years.
Survivors are sister Lottie Bayton of Port Angeles; and nieces Beverlee Michalik of Wildomar, Calif., Barbara Johnson of Luverne, North Dakota, and Russelle Graff of Port Angeles.

Cynthia Sanborn
July 9, 1935 -- Oct. 18, 2004
Port Angeles resident Cynthia Sanborn died at age 69.
She was born in Concord, N.H., to Harold and Marion (Willey) Sanborn.
Ms. Sanborn was a member of the American Society of Social Workers, and was an American Certified Social Worker in psychiatric social work.
She lived in Hartford, Conn., before coming to Port Angeles 30 years ago.
She was interested in the fields of mental health and the environment.
Ms. Sanborn is survived by Jean Reed, her partner of 38 years.
Services: None. Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, is in charge.
Dorothy Sophia `Dottie' Jensen
Dec. 30, 1917 -- Oct. 13, 2004
Port Angeles resident Dorothy Sophia ``Dottie" Jensen, 86, died in Crestwood Convalescent Center from congestive heart failure and complications following a fall which fractured her pelvis.
The youngest of three children, she was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, to David Gideon and Effie (Nisson) Standley.
In 1934, she married
Paul Albert Gibbons.
She later married
Robert James Boyce for 15 years and Kenneth F. Jensen for 28 years.
Each of her husbands preceded her in death.
During the Depression, she and her husband Paul moved frequently to follow employment opportunities.
Her only child was born in Detroit in 1939.
Before retiring, she worked in the insurance industry, then helped her husband Kenneth with his carpentry business.
Mrs. Jensen was active in the ladies auxiliaries of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She held various offices in each organization, including the presidency.
She moved to Port Angeles to be near her daughter in 1999.
Mrs. Jensen is survived by her daughter and companion, Pat Mata and Michael Gilbert, of Port Angeles; four grandsons, three greet-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her three husbands, brothers Howard and Clark both preceded her in death.

R. Bruce Phillips
March 20, 1928 -- Oct. 17, 2004
Longtime Port Angeles resident R. Bruce Phillips died at age 76.
He was born in Camas to Donald B. and Jessie (Blair) Phillips.
He graduated from high school in Port Angeles in 1947.
He married
Luella Joyce McCaslin in Port Angeles on Aug. 28, 1950.
Mr. Phillips served in the Air Force in Germany during the Korean War.
He retired as a machine room superintendent for ITT Rayonier in 1983 with 35 years employment.
Mr. Phillips, who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, also liked RV travel as well as camping, fishing, and hunting throughout the Northwest.
He was a member of Peninsula Golf Club and Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Cheryl A. Phillips of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter Pamela Phillips Wegener of Bend, Ore.; brother and sister-in-law Mike and Willa Phillips of Sequim; and three grandchildren.
