Anie B. Dagley
May 15, 1941 -- Nov. 16, 2004
Port Angeles resident Anie B. Dagley died in Iloilo, Philippines, from a heart attack at age 63.
She went to the Philippines on August for a vacation, and became ill.
She was born in the Philippines to Miguel and Adviana (Pasamante) Balasa.
She married
Joseph Daniel Dagley, a senior chief petty officer in the Navy, in the Philippines on Feb. 22, 1974. He died March 9, 1990.
Mrs. Dagley lived two years in Atsugi, Japan, and 23 years in Port Angeles.
Her pastimes included going fishing and collecting antiques.
Survivors include her companion, Robert H. Anderson of Port Angeles; son Ador Dagley of the Philippines; four brothers and two grandchildren.
Services: Burial was in Anilao, Iloilo, Philippines.
Patricia N. Jackson
Sept. 12, 1917 -- Nov. 16, 2004
Patricia N. Jackson died in Port Angeles at age 87.
Born in Hoquiam to Grays Harbor County pioneer Benjamin Franklin ``Cougar Ben" Newnham and Esther Irene Mitchell, she grew up on the family homestead in the Neilton-Humptulips area.
In her youth, she played basketball and attended Bellingham Normal School (now Western Washington University) for three years.
While at a dance in Humptulips, she met Albert George Jackson. He invited her out ``for a drink" (milk he had brought for a baby at his logging camp). They married
in Aberdeen on March 18, 1939.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Jackson was office manager of Angeles Shake & Shingle, which she and her husband purchased in 1967, when they moved to Port Angeles.
Mrs. Jackson was an artist whose skills ranged from working with stained glass through needlecraft -- including elaborate Halloween costumes -- to baking and candy making.
She was a Cub Scout den mother, an avid golfer, became an airplane pilot in her 50s.
Survivors include son Thomas Jackson of Olympia; sons and daughters-in-law Bruce and Mary of Allyn, Patrick and Rebecca, and Paul and Mary, all of Port Angeles; daughters Kathleen Berggren of Vancouver, Wash., and Patricia L. Jackson of Sequim; daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Don Delaney of Ariel; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Her husband died March 29, 1969. Mrs. Jackson was also preceded in death by brother Benjamin Newnham and sisters Virginia Fraker and Constance Bosler.

Gideon Korus
April 19, 1912 -- Nov. 17, 2004
Sequim resident Gideon Korus died in Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Center of congestive heart failure at age 92.
He was born in Denhoff, N.C., to John and Rosa (Bergstrazer).
He served in the Navy during the World War II.
After the war, he settled in the Spokane Valley, where he owned Opportunity Furniture for 25 years before selling it in 1973.
Mr. Korus worked in construction for several years before moving to Sequim in 2001.
In addition to being a member of Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church and the Newcomers Club, he was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, water skiing and gardening.
The former Irene Pickert, his wife of 52 years, died in March 1989.
He married
Lanice Hoppe on Jan. 4, 1992, in Spokane.
Survivors include his wife; sons Roger Korus of Moscow, Idaho, and Bruce Korus of Olympia; stepson Richard Huyman of Morrison, Colo.; daughters Joyce Evans of Redmond and Janice McFadden of Issaquah; stepdaughters Marsha Martin of Port Orchard, Joyce Miller of Kennewick and Nancy Sinclair of Sammamish; brother Ray Korus of Denhoff, N.D.; sisters Freida Elfeldt of Kaiser, Ore., Ruth Johnson of Morehead, Minn.; Dee Kandris of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Norma McCain of Lafayette, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, Nov. 27, 11 a.m., memorial in Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, 925 N. Sequim Ave. The Rev. Jack Anderson will officiate. A reception at the church will follow the service.

Sharon Crystal Marshall, 62, of Port Angeles died about Oct. 30; her body was discovered Nov. 18.

Sequim resident Hugo B. Paulsen died at age 68.

Fred Pennoyer
Dec. 8, 1919 -- Nov. 18, 2004
Fred Pennoyer died in his Port Angeles home of kidney failure at age 84.
He was born in Aberdeen to Fredrick Douglas and Lillien Frances (Foshaug) Pennoyer.
He married
Marian Virginia Norman in Port Angeles on April 13, 1942.
Mr. Pennoyer earned his Bachelor of Theology degree from Freelander College, Broadway, Va., and served as a missionary with New Tribes Mission in the Philippines in 1954-84.
He continued in church ministry in Port Angeles, where he was a member of Independent Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife of Port Angeles; daughters and sons-in-law Lillian and Byron Woolsey of Port Angeles, and Joann and LeRoy Judd of Salem, Ore.; son and daughter-in-law Dr. Douglas and Joann Pennoyer of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: Dec. 5, 2 p.m., memorial in the Independent Bible Church Worship Center, 116 E. Ahlvers Road, Port Angeles. The Rev. Dr. Mike Jones will officiate. A reception in the church will follow the service.
Cremains will be buried in a private committal at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles.

Port Angeles resident Terry S. Truckenmiller died at age 52.

JOSEPH ARTHUR BOWIE
Mr. Bowie died at home, November 14, 2004, under Hospice care.
Joseph Arthur was born on October 3, 1918, in Sommerville, Massachusetts, to Joseph Patrick and Irene Doherty Bowie.
He attended school in Sommerville, joining the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936.
In 1937 he entered the U.S. Cavalry at Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont.
Joseph joined the United States Marine Corps in 1939, engaging in the historic First Marine Division assault on Guadalcanal.
He continued to serve his country throughout World War II.
At the war's end in 1945, Joseph spent two years in Asia in service with the China Marines.
Following his military service, he settled in Los Angeles, California, where, in 1946, he met and married
Dorothy Helen Troutman.
He then began a long career as a claims adjuster for the Automobile Club of Southern California.
Joseph retired in 1983 and pursued his interest in horses and his ranch in Templeton, California.
In 1992, Joseph and Dorothy moved to Sequim, Washington, enjoying their home and his study of Irish history.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, along with his two daughters, Barbara Jo Bowie of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Irene Elizabeth Bowie, of Maui, Hawaii; his granddaughters, Maile Locey and Delphi Estrella, both of Seattle; and his younger brother, Robert Ernest Bowie, of Glenwood, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and youngest brother, George.
At Joseph's request there will be no service; instead he will be remembered at a Mass held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sequim.

INEZ S. BROOKS
Inez S. Brooks, age 89, passed away quietly in her sleep on Tuesday, November 16, 2004.
She had lived in Sequim since 1989, being involved in volunteer work, different clubs and activities. Playing cards with her wonderful friends was her favorite thing to do.
Mom was born in Oklahoma, but moved to Arkansas very early in life.
In 1936 she and her first husband moved to California.
In 1944, she remarried
to her now-deceased husband John Brooks, a watchmaker.
They moved to Alaska for seven years in the 1940s. They then moved to Forks, where they opened the first jewelry store there.
In the 1960s, they moved back to Rosemead, California, to be near her two grown sons.
She loved to work mostly in office personnel departments. She had many honors for not missing a day's work.
She retired from Shasta Beverages but still kept working at temporary agencies until 1985.
She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star.
She is survived by one son, two daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be sorely missed by family and the many friends she had acquired through the years.
There will be no services at her request.

WILLIAM FRANCIS KELLY
William Francis Kelly passed away on November 10, 2004, at the age of 78. He was born March 5, 1926, in Colorado.
He served as a gunner's mate on a ``tin can" in the South Pacific. He was a mathematics and history buff, and a proud ``wood butcher."
He leaves sons John (Carla) and Eugene (Marcia) of Seattle, and daughter Nora and ``ex" Camilla of Port Angeles, and will be greatly missed by his beloved grandchild, Emmet Sleipness of Albany, Oregon.
Charles P. Roberts
March 14, 1947 -- Nov. 15, 2004
Sequim resident Charles P. Roberts died at age 57.
He was born in Bakersfield, Calif., to Cornell O. and Lucille Lee (Baze) Roberts.
Six years ago, he moved from Portland, Ore., to Sequim, where he owned and operated All Weather Painting.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Roberts is survived by son Dean Hargraves of Arizona; brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Colleen Roberts of Sequim; sister and brother-in-law Janice and Rex Shepard of Grants Pass, Ore.; sister Delorse Smith of Morro Bay, Calif.; and two grandsons.
