Robert J. Bell, Jr.
Nov. 28, 1925 -- Feb. 12, 2005
Deacon Robert J. Bell, Jr., of Sequim died at age 79.
He was born in Rockaway Beach, N.Y., to Robert J. and Celia (Parenti) Bell Sr.
In the Navy, Deacon Bell served with the 4th Marine Division as a pharmacist's mate third class.
He attended Eastern School Physicians Aides for Medical Technology in New York.
He was a chief biochemist-medical technologist in New Jersey, and was postmaster in Hamburg, N.J.
Mr. Bell was ordained as a permanent deacon in the Roman Catholic diocese of Patterson, N.J., and served in both New Jersey and Washington.
In addition to being a member of Disabled American Veterans, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sequim and Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, he belonged to the Sequim Rotary Club, was past president of Wallkill Valley (N.Y.) Rotary Club and was affiliated with the National Association of Postmasters.
Deacon Bell married
Agnes Raeder in Maspeth, N.Y., on May 13, 1945.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Kenneth Bell of New Albany, Ohio, and Robert J. Bell III of Torrance, Calif.; daughters Jeanne Ruth of Calimesa, Calif.; Sandra Snook of Lafayette, N.J.; Robin Lunger of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., and Annemarie Bell-Gray of Sequim; sister Norma Ledee of Dunedin, Fla; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services: Thursday, Feb. 17, 2:30 p.m., graveside in Sequim View cemetery.
Friday, Feb. 18, 1 p.m., memorial Mass and reception in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim.
Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Louise M. Kimball
Dec. 6, 1928 -- Feb. 7, 2005
Louise M. Kimball died in Port Townsend of a stroke at age 76.
She was born in Winlock to Zenas Clyde and Margery Mae (Webster) Guthrie.
She was married
to and divorced from Robert J. Martin and Dick Kimball.
Mrs. Kimball is survived by son and daughter-in-law James C. and Patsy Martin of Bainbridge Island; stepsons Greg, Scott and Doug Kimball; daughter and son-in-law Teresa M. and John Franett of Lynnwood; sister Virginia Tucker of Port Townsend; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Ted and Vincent Guthrie and sisters Val Capriotti, Vivian Meyers and Verna Thornton.

Dorothy Estella Hetrick Kipp
Nov. 10, 1919 -- Feb. 9, 2005
Sequim resident Dorothy Estella Hetrick Kipp died of cancer at her son's home in Renton. She was 85.
Born in Kent to Edward ``Lynn" and Mabel Louise (Crump) Hetrick, she spent her childhood in the Pleasant Beach area of Bainbridge Island, then moved to Bremerton, where she graduated from high school in 1936.
After business college in Seattle, she returned to Bremerton, where she worked at Hayward's Insurance Agency.
She, married
John Dean ``Jack" Kipp in Bremerton on Feb. 25, 1943.
Mrs. Kipp accompanied her husband to his Marine Corps assignments in Eugene and Pendleton, both in Oregon, and San Pedro, San Diego and La Mesa, all in California.
She then became a 32-year resident of Sequim.
She was an ordained elder of the Presbyterian Church, where she was active in service groups and Bible study. She also was a life member of Sequim Prairie and Clallam County Pomona Grange.
Mrs. also belonged to the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Fleet Reserve Association in Port Angeles.
Mrs. Kipp is survived by her husband; son and daughter-in-law Jame Vernon and Linda Jean Kipp; sisters Edith ``Pat" Christy and Sally M. Harris; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother Ralph Hetrick.
Services: Saturday, Feb. 19, 11 a.m., memorial service and reception in Sequim Presbyterian Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave. The Rev. Dr. Scott Koenigsaecker will officiate.
Interment will be in Tahoma National cemetery, 18600 SE 24th St., Kent. Bleitz Funeral Home, Seattle, was in charge of arrangements.

Ella Mae Luck
Feb. 27, 1914 -- Feb. 10, 2005
Port Townsend homemaker Ella Mae Luck, 90, died on her 70th wedding anniversary.
She was born in Boistfort to Ellis and Lucy (Roundtree) McKenzie.
She married
Samuel N. Luck in Port Angeles on Feb. 10, 1935.
Mrs. Luck, who enjoyed crocheting and knitting, was a 70-year resident of Port Townsend and a 50-year member of Port Townsend Eagles.
She also belonged to Celesta Rebekah Lodge and was a volunteer worker at Kah Tai Care Center, hospice and the election board.
Survivors include daughters Judeen Ruzicka of Georgia and Sherrill Rieck of Port Townsend; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Her husband died in August 1986. She was also preceded in death by son Errol ``Wayne" Luck and grandson Andrew Ruzicka.
Services: Saturday, Feb. 26, 2 p.m., memorial in IOOF Hall, 11323 Rhody Drive, Port Hadlock. Inurnment will be in Laurel Grove cemetery.

Jerry D. Beck
Jan. 3, 1944 -- Feb. 6, 2005
Jerry D. Beck died in Port Angeles at age 61.

Andrea Janie Cargo
Jan. 24, 1927 -- Feb. 3, 2005
Andrea Janie Cargo died of emphysema in Port Angeles at age 78.
She was born in Helena, Mont., to Milo and Janie (Long) Hummel, and was raised by her mother and adoptive father, James Calkins.
After graduating from high school, she completed training for a career in banking and was employed 31 years in the field before retiring as a senior teller.
She lived in Anchorage, Alaska, and Seattle before moving to Port Angeles.
She married
Willard Keith Cargo Sr. in Seattle in November 1949. He died Dec. 9, 1999.
Mrs. Cargo was a member of the Order of Amaranth in 1954-60. She also served as Royal Matron at Grange.
In addition to reading books and fishing the Dungeness and Elwha rivers with her husband, her personal interests focused on activities geared toward her family, such as traveling and camping, sewing, embroidering, knitting, cooking and baking.
Survivors include son Willard K. Cargo Jr., of Port Angeles; daughter Diane L. DeBerry of Seattle; brothers Jack Hummel and Charlie Hummel; and three grandchildren.

Frances Marie `Micki' Kaas
Oct. 5, 1931 -- Feb. 1, 2005
Port Angeles resident Frances Marie ``Micki" Kaas died of complications of leukemia at age 73.
She was born to Wilfred Ambrose and Delphia (Krotzer) Sommers in Port Angeles.
She married
Donald Kaas in Port Angeles on Nov. 11, 1955.
Mrs. Kaas, a 1953 graduate of Western Washington College of Education in Bellingham, taught second grade at Lincoln Elementary School for many years. After retirement, she continued working as a para-educator and volunteer grandmother.
Until the time of her death, taking daily walks with her 14-year-old Australian shepherd, Daisey, was of prime importance.
In addition to caring for her yard and its flowers, Mrs. Kaas enjoyed painting, doing crafts and designing and selling T-shirts.
She was also a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband; son Christopher Kaas of Anacortes; daughter Jennifer Netherda of Bellevue; brother Wilfred Ambrose ``Joe" Sommers II of Port Angeles; and two grandchildren.
Services: None. Inurnment was in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, Monroe Road and U.S. Highway 101, Port Angeles. Olympic Cremation Association was in charge.

Juanita Alice Marquette
Sept. 27, 1929 -- Jan. 22, 2005
Former Peninsula resident Juanita Alice Marquette, 75, died in Columbia Basin Family Medicine, Ephrata, with family and friends by her side.
She was born in Cheyenne, Wyo., one of the 12 children of Harry and Alena Dawkins.
She married
Howard S. Marquette in Silverdale on July 29, 1947. He died Sept. 2, 1997.
The Marquettes lived in Port Angeles and Sequim where, in addition to raising her family, she worked in the fields for such crops as strawberries, Brussels sprouts and mint.
The Marquettes moved to Ephrata to be near their daughter, Julie.
Survivors include sons Stanley Marquette of Mount Vernon, Danny Marquette of Port Angeles and Harold Marquette of California; daughters Jennie Parkens of Sequim and Julie Marquette of Ephrata; sister Loretta Miles; and five grandchildren.
Services: At her request, none. Neptune Society, Spokane, was in charge of cremation.

Richard M. Schramm Sr.
Sept. 15, 1924 -- Dec. 3, 2004
Former Port Angeles resident Richard M. Schramm Sr., died of cancer in Olympia at age 80.
Services: Saturday, Feb. 12, noon, memorial in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 124 N. Sylvia St., Montesano. A reception will follow.
American Burial Service, Olympia, was in charge of arrangements.
CLIFFORD A. PAVLAK
Clifford A. Pavlak of Port Angeles died at the age of 51 on January 27, 2005.
He was born in Port Angeles on February 14, 1953, to Alfred E. Pavlak and Constance I. (Brownhill) Pavlak.
He graduated from Port Angeles High School Class of 1971 and attended Peninsula College, where he completed his degree.
Cliff was a 23-year employee of Clallam Transit. He was an active participant in all employee association functions and was recognized for his distinguished service by being named Employee of the Year. You may know him as ``dispatcher Cliff" giving traffic reports on KONP Radio.
He was the director of the Peninsula Youth Baseball Summer tournaments for the past 20 years and enjoyed working with the community and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Boat Owners Association of the United States.
Survivors: Longtime companion Rosemary Richardson; daughter-in-law Mary Pavlak; brother Alfred Pavlak; sister Catherine Van Os; stepchildren Sarah Richardson, Jacob Richardson, Eric Richardson and Scott Madan. Kathy Hugo is his former spouse. They married
in 1974 and were married
22 years.
Services: A memorial celebration will be planned at a later date.
