Thomas J. Kelly
April 23, 1916 -- Feb. 23, 2005
Thomas J. Kelly formerly of Sequim died at age 88 in Lacey.
Mr. Kelly was born to Francis R. and Catherin (Whalen) Kelly in Morrison.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington and law degree from Lincoln University.
Mr. Kelly served with the U.S. Air Force.
He later was branch manager for Allstate Insurance and consultant for CSE Insurance.
He married
Florence Siegler on June 20, 1942.
Mr. Kelly was active in St. Vincent de Paul and Catholic Social Services, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Elks.
He is survived by his wife, of Lacey.
Services: Wednesday, March 2, noon, graveside service at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles, with the Rev. Thomas W. Beattie officiating. Sequim Valley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Lawrence Kohl
May 19, 1916 -- Feb. 24, 2005
Kenneth Lawrence Kohl of Sequim died in Port Angeles of congestive heart failure at age 88.
Mr. Kohl was born to Joseph and Helen Kohl in Milwaukee, Wis.
He married
Blanche Dauffenbach in Waterford, Wis., in July 1942.
Mr. Kohl studied diesel engineering at the University of Wisconsin for two years. He was licensed in Wisconsin and Illinois to sell real estate and sold it for 10 years.
He farmed in Waterford for 14 years and in Spencer for 38 years. He worked for Chicago Western Railroad as a diesel mechanic for 19 years. He moved to Sequim in 1996.
Mr. Kelly was a 52-year member of Owen Lodge No. 317 F&AM of Wisconsin, 32 year member of Valley of Eau Claire, former member of Trepole Temple Shrine of Milwaukee and a life member of Sequim Lodge No. 213 F&AM.
He also belonged to Transportation Communications International Union and Sequim Prairie Grange.
Survivors include sons Karl Kohl of Columbus, Wis., and George Kohl of Abbotsford, Wis.; sisters LaVerne Soliva of Mukwonago, Wis., and Anita Wiesner of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
His wife died Oct. 3, 1975.
Services: Inurnment will be at Hillside cemetery in Marshfield, Wis.

Edwin M. `Bud' White
Jan. 2, 1922 -- Feb. 19, 2005
Dungeness resident Edwin M. ``Bud" White died of respiratory arrest in Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles. He was 83.
Born in Wood River, Neb., to Edward and Mae (Mansir) White, he graduated from high school in North Platte, Neb., in 1940.
He then enlisted in the Army and served five years with the infantry in the European Theater of World War II.
Mr. White, who was a member of the typographical union, was employed in a variety of positions during his working years, the last being that of composing room foreman in the newspaper industry.
His first marriage was to Maude Patterson. She preceded him in death.
He married
Vivian (Peterson) Carsrud in San Jose, Calif., on Aug. 23, 1967.
In 1980 he retired and moved to Sequim.
Mr. White enjoyed fishing, traveling in his recreational vehicle and watching the wildlife at his home.
He belonged to the Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife, Mr. White's survivors include stepsons David Carsrud of Port Angeles and Roger Carsrud of San Jose, Calif.; stepdaughters Carolyn Payne and Barbara Donnelly, both of Prineville, Ore; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Jean White of Richland; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by brother Maynard White.
Services: None. Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge.
SISTER REGINA LUTZ
Sister Regina Lutz (Sister Mary Cecilia), Sister of St. Ann, died peacefully February 23, 2005, at St. Ann's Residence, Victoria, British Columbia, at the age of 100 years.
Regina was the second daughter born to Samuel and Henrietta (Ucker) Lutz on September 22, 1904, in Port Angeles.
She entered the Novitiate of The Sisters of St. Ann, Victoria, in August 1925, and took her first vows August 15, 1927.
Until 1978, Sister Regina taught music in Vancouver, Port Angeles, Nanaimo, Vernon, Kamloops, Port Alberni and Victoria.
While teaching, Sister Regina continued to study and earned her L.A.B. (London), HTCM (Toronto) and her LTCL (Trinity College, London).
From 1983, Sister Regina resided at St. Ann's Residence, devoting herself to Community Service and prayer.
Predeceased by her parents and one sister, Sister M. Olive Ann, SSA, she will be sadly missed by her cousins and her religious community, The Sisters of St. Ann.
A prayer service will be held at St. Ann's Residence, 2474 Arbutus Road, Victoria, today, February 27, 2005, at 7 p.m.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Ann's Residence on Monday, February 28, 2005, at 10 a.m.
Following the service, interment will take place at Hatley Memorial Gardens, Colwood.
EDWARD MAZZA
June 27, 1934-Feb. 19, 2005
Ed Mazza left his place on Earth after complications from a rare illness. He is now joined with his parents and his son, Eddie.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Nonie; his daughter Nancy (Steve) Crozier of Hoodsport, daughter Karen (Lonnie) Clark of Port Angeles, grandchildren Stephanie (Jeremy) Weller, Chad Crozier, Erica Mazza, Kelsey Mullins, Baylie Clark, Kayla Mazza and Mollie Clark, and great-grandson Tyson Weller.
He is also survived by his brother Richard (Norma) Mazza of Puyallup, sister BettyLou Zak of Seattle, stepfather Fred Stockton of Tacoma and many nieces and nephews, all who loved him dearly.
Ed was a member and past president of the Orting Lions Club, Orting Eagles No. 3480, Shelton Elks No. 2467 and a member of the Lake Cushman Golf Club.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 through 1958.
He loved hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors.
His hobby was to help his family and friends with any type of project or need.
Ed was involved in the family business of Mazza Cheese in Orting from childhood until 1987. In 1988 he went to work at High Cedars Golf Club and retired in 2002.
A memorial service will be held on March 4, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 901 Wood Ave., Sumner, Washington. Following the memorial, a reception and celebration of Ed's life will be held at High Cedars Golf Club in Orting.

VICTOR CAMERON COX
Victor Cameron Cox, a Port Angeles resident, died on February 21, 2005.
He was born in 1910 in Port Angeles to Charles and Margaret (Christie) Cox.
Victor graduated from Roosevelt High School, where he played both baseball and football, in 1931, then attended business college in Seattle.
After graduation, during the Depression, he and a friend hitchhiked through 40 states, riding the rails. During this time, he witnessed Franklin D. Roosevelt's inauguration.
Victor worked for Shell Oil both driving and working in Shell Service Stations, and then worked for Ford Garage and at Crown Zellerbach, both for three years.
In 1936, Victor married
Hannah Jane Morse in Port Angeles.
During World War II he worked for the Army Engineers in Seward, Alaska, and Western Washington, as well as government ship building in Port Angeles until he got a job at Angeles Creamery, where he worked for 28 years until his retirement in 1970.
Victor and his wife traveled with a trailer as far as Key West, Florida, and spent three months a year in Hemet, Calif., playing golf.
He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club.
Victor spent his spare time hiking, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed hunting cougar with his friends, Joe and Ed Adamich and their hound dogs. They got 15 cougars when there was a bounty on them.
Devoted to his family, hard working and a man of exemplary values, which he strove to instill in all his family, he will be greatly missed by them and all who knew him.
Victor is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hannah; his two daughters Shari (Bob) Wright of Edmonds and Vicki (Glen) Richard of Poulsbo; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Bret Adams, brother Harold Cox and sisters Vera Davidson, Kathleen Cox and Sybil Cox.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at noon at Edmonds Memorial cemetery, 820 15th Way SW in Edmonds.

JAMES ARCHIE MATHIS
James Archie Mathis passed away in his home in Kingman, Arizona, on January 28, 2005, at the age of 82.
He is survived by four sons and one daughter.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Angeles Memorial Park on July 22, 2005, at 2 p.m.
EVA MARIE POLLARD
Jan. 4, 1913-Feb. 21, 2005
Mrs. Eva Marie Pollard passed peacefully away February 21, 2005, in Port Angeles at the age of 89, due to an extended illness.
Eva was born to William and Eddie Bell Byrd in Hope, New Mexico, on January 4, 1913.
Eva and her family moved to Chehalis and she attended Toledo High School, where she was the ``All-Star" of the girls basketball team. She has remained an avid sports fan.
On February 7, 1937, Eva married
James Pollard in Chehalis.
The same year, they moved to this area where they started a family and built a home. Eva and Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and cross-country skiing around the Olympics.
Eva loved flowers and was an avid gardener.
She was a Sunday School teacher at the Church of Christ and a 4-H leader.
After she raised her family, she took a job cooking at the Puget Sound Pilot's Station.
Eva was deeply loved and truly devoted to her God, her family and her friends. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, James Pollard; her daughter, Carol Oppelt, and husband, Lane, of Olympia.
Proceeded in death by her son, Bill Pollard, and her daughters, Murna Pepper and Joyce Pollard.
Eva has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: Saturday, February 26, 2005, at 5 p.m., Port Angeles Church of Christ, Front Street at Liberty.
Officiant: Tim Hockett.
