Marian Eaton
Oct. 18, 1917 -- Feb. 23, 2005
Sequim resident Marian Eaton died in Port Angeles at age 87.
She was born in Troy, Iowa, to Lev and Nellie Troutman.
She married
Bayard Scott. They later divorced. He was the father of her children.
After living most of her life in Iowa, several years in Colorado and almost 20 years in communities around Austin Texas, she lived her final two years in Sequim.
Mrs. Eaton enjoyed music and reading as well as socializing with friends and family.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Mac and Pat Scott of New Cambria, Mo.; daughters and sons-in-law Lynell and George Wellman and Sharman and Glen Richardson, all of Sequim; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, six step-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
Services: Memorial services were held Feb. 26 at Gardiner Community Church. Olympic Crematorium was in charge of arrangements.
Colleen Fawn O'Dell
March 28, 1952 -- Feb. 27, 2005
Port Townsend resident Colleen Fawn O'Dell died in her sleep at the age of 52.
She was born in Los Angeles to Ronald Keith and Gloria May (Mahan) O'Dell.
She married
Sal Mercurio at Lake Tahoe, Nev. They later divorced.
Survivors include son Shon Mercurio of Martinez, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law Ron and Margo O'Dell of Park City, Utah; sister Kerry O'Dell of Port Townsend; and four grandchildren.
Services: Held Wednesday, March 2, at Kosec Funeral Home. Pastor David Hodgin officiated.
Jean E. Stolley
Dec. 5, 1912 -- March 1, 2005
Port Angeles resident Jean E. Stolley died in Olympic Medical Center at age 92.
Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.
Cheryl Elaine Wendell
May 12, 1947 -- Feb. 25, 2005
Forks resident Cheryl Elaine Wendell died at the age of 57.
She was born in Bellingham to Richard and Margaret (Fuller) Wahlgren.
She graduated from Forks High School, where she was on the cheerleading squad and debate club, in 1965.
She was crowned the Forks 4th of July queen in 1963 and also was a princess of the Clallam County Fair.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Western Washington University in 1969.
She married
Michael L. Wendell at the Assembly of God Church in Forks on June 25, 1983.
She was a member of Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include husband, son Brian Floe, and her parents, all of Forks; daughters Victoria Floe of Kenmore, Ericka Wendell of Port Angeles, Jennifer Wendell of Denver and Jodi Wendell of Bellevue; brother Rick Wahlgren of Whidbey Island; and three grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, March 5, 1 p.m., funeral at Assembly of God Church, 81 Huckleberry Lane, Forks. The Rev. Jerry Bowers will officiate. Burial in Forks cemetery. Mount Olympus Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survived by son Walter J. Davy III; daughter Tami M. Davy; and six grandchildren, Brett, Keven, Walter IV, Derek, Rachel and Tyke.

Helen Mae Allen
March 21, 1923 -- Feb. 28, 2005
Sequim resident Helen Mae Allen died at the age of 81.
She was born in Cheyenne, Wyo., to George and Amelia Molly (Rutz) Peil.
She was married
to Albert Raab for 49 years until his death in 1990.
Mrs. Allen had owned and operated two restaurants that served construction workers building dams in Rufus, Ore., and Mossy Rock.
She moved to Port Angeles in 1989, and married
George Ross Allen in Port Angeles on April 15, 1995.
She was a dedicated gardener of roses and dahlias.
Mrs. Allen belonged to the Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of Sequim; daughters Loretta G. Edwards of Port Angeles, Donna M. Skallerud of Port Hadlock, and Eila R. Boyd of Las Vegas; sister Clara Turner of Renton; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters Lydia, Molly, Bertha, Hilda, Ruth and Polly, and brothers Victor, Alexander and Raymond.
Services: Today, March 2, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., visitation at Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles.
Funeral on Thursday, March 3, 10:30 a.m., also at Drennan-Ford Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ocean View cemetery in Port Angeles.
Grace Rowan Bryant
May 19, 1910 -- Feb. 27, 2005
Grace Rowan Bryant died in her Sequim home of complications of pneumonia. She was 94.
She was born in Medford, Ore., to Robert and Grace (Foster) Burnett.
She married
John Victor Bryant in New York City in 1936. He died on Oct. 13, 2002.
Mrs. Bryant earned Master of Arts degrees in library science and in education.
She was a teacher and librarian during her career.
Mrs. Bryant enjoyed music, literature, horticulture, politics and the company of good friends.
She belonged to the Peninsula Peace Coalition, Friends of the Library and the League of Women Voters.
Survivors include son Todd Bryant of Sequim and daughter Nancy Bryant of San Francisco.

Robert Dotson

Sequim resident Robert Dotson died at Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles. He was 57.

Nicolasa J. McCone
Jan. 27, 1947 -- Feb. 24, 2005
Former Port Townsend resident Nicolasa J. McCone died in Seattle at the age of 58.
She was born in Shelton to Fredrick Issac and Ruth Josephine (Elson) Abeyta.
Raised in Port Townsend, she graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1965.
She married
Alan Peter Hinds, who died on April 24, 1980.
She later married
Joseph McCone in Quilcene. He died Dec. 9, 1995.
Mrs. McCone was a bartender. She moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, in 1999.
Mrs. McCone was a member of the American Legion NWA and Women of the Moose in Ketchikan.
Survivors include son Alan Michael Hinds of Quilcene; daughter and son-in-law Robin Lynn and Stuart R. Gainer of Quilcene; daughters Karen Lee Umpleby of Port Townsend and Terri Lou Hinds of Port Hadlock; brother Fred I. Abeyta and sister and brother-in-law Paula J. and Ron Walker, all of Yakima; sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth S. ``Betty" Kennedy and Martin Wood of Oregon; and eight grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, March 5, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., celebration of life at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 31 Matheson St., Port Hadlock. Kosec Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Colleen Fawn O'Dell

Port Townsend resident Colleen Fawn O'Dell died suddenly at home. She was 52.

Rita Pearl Sandum
June 12, 1923 -- Feb. 25, 2005
Former Port Angeles resident Rita Pearl Sandum died at Island Health & Rehabilitation Center on Bainbridge Island. She was 81.
She was born in Leominster, Mass., to Joseph and Rose (Pepin) Proteau.
She married
George Duval on Nov. 20, 1945, in Fitchburg, Mass., where they lived until moving to Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1959.
The family moved in 1965 to Port Angeles, where she worked as a waitress.
She later married
Raymond Sandum, who preceded her in death on June 1999.
She moved to Kitsap County 15 years ago.
Mrs. Sandum enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include daughters Jeanne Espinosa of Santa Clarita, Calif., and Irene Harrison and Marie Eikum of Port Angeles; son Thomas Duval of Port Angeles; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by granddaughter Heidi Harrison Thornton in 1998.
Services: At her request, none. Kass Funeral Home, Bainbridge Island, is in charge of arrangements.
Stuart D. Thomson
Sept. 1, 1912 -- Feb. 27, 2005
Stuart D. Thomson died in Sherwood Assisted Living, Sequim, at age 92.
He was born in Independence, Mo., to James and Susan (Duncan) Thomson.
He attended Oregon State University.
He married
Ruth Stone in Portland, Ore., on May 29, 1936.
Mr. Thomson was a barnstormer and owned and operated a flying service at Swan Island Airport in Portland before World War II.
During the war, he was a test pilot for Boeing on B-17s and B-29s.
After the war, he owned and operated several auto dealerships in Washington and Idaho.
He retired and moved to Sequim in the early 1970s.
Mr. Thomson was an avid golfer, and belonged to the Masonic Lodge and OX5 Airplane Club.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years in Sequim; daughters Jean Harrison of Astoria, Ore., and Jane Kern of San Diego; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
