Letha Lassiter
March 18, 1911 -- July 31, 2005
Port Angeles resident Letha Lassiter died in Ridgemont Terrace Senior Living Center, Port Orchard, of a cardiovascular accident at age 94.
She was born in Jonesboro, Ga., to James and Mary Jane (Harrison) Turner.
She married
Joseph H. Lassiter on July 2, 1930. He died in 1957.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Lassiter was a licensed vocational nurse.
Her favorite activities included gardening and reading.
Mrs. Lassiter lived in Lake View Terrace, Calif., for 15 years before retiring in 1978.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Julia A. Berger of Silverdale, M. Jewell VanOss and Jim Flaming, and Susan J. and Richard A. Koharian Sr. of Allyn; sister Louise Hyder of Oxford, Ga.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph C. Lassiter, and son-in-law, Bill Berger.
Services: Aug. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., memorial potluck in Evergreen City Park, Bremerton. Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, Bremerton, is in charge.

Henry Arthur `Hank' McClary
Feb. 3, 1937 -- Aug. 5, 2005
Henry Arthur ``Hank" McClary, 68, died in his Dabob home after an extended struggle with cancer.
He was born to George Joseph and Edna Ann (Vail) McClary in Frankfort, Kan., where he graduated high school in 1955.
He married
Barbara Ann Burnston in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Aug. 30, 1963.
Mr. McClary, who was a truck driver and equipment operator, had a 33-year career in which he worked in long-haul transport as well as being employed by the U.S. Forest Service and Jefferson County Road Department.
He was a member of Teamsters.
His pastimes included watching birds at his backyard feeders, as well as camping, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; mother of Frankfort, Kan.; sisters Beverly Ann Kennedy of McAllen, Texas, and Jo Ann Murk of Topeka, Kan.; and sisters and brothers-in-law Katherine Irene and Glen Fox of Frankfort, Kan., Dorothy Mae and Allen Raub of Dodge City, Kan., and Billy Jean and Arlo Goossen of Hillsboro, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his brother, George Ronald McClary, and his father.
Services: Aug. 21, 3 p.m., memorial in Quilcene Masonic Hall, 170 Herbert St. Pastor Steve Heemstra of Calvary Chapel, Port Townsend, will officiate.

Robert A. Miller
Oct. 1, 1929 -- July 31, 2005
Port Townsend resident Robert A. Miller died in Jefferson Healthcare hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage at age 75.
He was born to Russell H. and Beatrice Irene (Myer) Miller in Seattle and graduated from Ballard High School in 1947.
He married
Betty Jean Rochon at Seattle's University Baptist Church on Oct. 20, 1950.
From 1950-52, he served in the Air Force, in which he was a corporal, and was stationed at Ohio's Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and in France.
Mr. Miller was an active member of East Jefferson County Rotary and Port Townsend Kiwanis, and was Past Worshipful Master of the Haller Lake Masonic Lodge in Seattle.
He attended Port Townsend's First Baptist Church.
In addition to being an avid fan of Seattle Seahawks football and Seattle Mariners baseball, he enjoyed bowling, cribbage, reading and stamp-collecting.
Mr. Miller's survivors include his wife and son, Gregory S. Miller of Port Townsend; son and daughter-in-law Bruce A. and Kristi Miller of Port Angeles; daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Gregory W. Fry of Bonney Lake; his mother of Seattle; sister and brother-in-law Lorraine and James Wade of Seattle; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and son Gary W. Miller.
Services: Saturday, Aug. 6, 3 p.m., memorial followed by a reception in First Baptist Church, 1202 Lawrence St., Port Townsend. The Rev. Skip Cadorette will officiate.

Charles `Choppin' Charlie' Moreno
July 3, 1933 -- Aug. 5, 2005
Longtime Quilcene resident and barber/hairstylist Charles ``Choppin' Charlie" Moreno died at Kah Tai Care Center, Port Townsend, at age 72.

Edward Joseph Moriarty
May 13, 1924 -- July 30, 2005
Edward Joseph Moriarty, 81, died in Port Angeles of cancer.
He was born in Janesville, Wis., to John Michael and Mary (Kelleher) Moriarty.
He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, from Sept. 4, 1942, through Oct. 19, 1945.
Before discharge as a private first class, he was recognized as a sharpshooter and did duty in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
He married
Christine Louise Woggon in Madison, Wis., on June 16, 1948.
Mr. Moriarty, who was an accomplished artist, earned his master's degree in art education, with a minor in English, from the University of Wisconsin.
He was employed as an education counselor for the federal government in Tacoma, Tokyo and Misawa, Japan, Denver and Mukilteo.
Mr. Moriarty was affiliated with St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Janesville, Wis.; the nondenominational chapel at Tachikawa (Japan) Air Force Base; Christ Lutheran Church in Tacoma and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Port Angeles.
He was a 20½-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
He also belonged to the Art League of Washington, Pacific Northwest Aquatics and, in the 1950s, Toastmasters.
Mr. Moriarty's survivors include his wife; sons Kevin Moriarty of Issaquah and Brian Moriarty of Maple Valley; daughters Colleen Moriarty of El Paso, Texas, and Kathleen Snyder of Vashon Island; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services: Inurnment in October in Tahoma National cemetery, 18600 SE 24th St., Kent.

Doris Elaine Nelson

Former Port Townsend resident Doris Elaine Nelson, 82, died in Providence Medical Center, Everett. of respiratory failure.
She was born in Wood Haven-Queens, N.Y., to Carl Leslie and Mabel Sara (Naber) Haderer.
Services: Thursday, Aug. 11, 1 p.m., funeral in Kosec Funeral Home and Crematory, 1615 Parkside Drive, Port Townsend. Interment will follow in Laurel Grove cemetery.
Jonathan `J.J.' Brewer
June 10, 1984 -- Aug. 3, 2005
Jonathan ``J.J." Brewer, 21, died of injuries received in a vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 east of Port Angeles.
He was born in Olympia to Jay Clarence Brewer and Karol Lynn Griese.
He completed his high school equivalency diploma, or GED, and has been active as a stay-at-home father since being disabled by injuries in a March 2002 vehicle collision.
Survivors include his companion Kathy Roberts, son Ryan Roberts, daughters Jessie James Roberts and Keona Kristine Brewer, all of Port Angeles; father Jay Brewer of Port Angeles; mother Karol Griese, sister Kailee Kristine ``Sis" Brewer and grandparents Gary and Marvyl (Brewer) Bunce, all of Olympia.
Grandfather Milton Brewer preceded him in death.
Services: Monday, Aug. 8, noon to 4 p.m., visitation in Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 W. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Memorial service Tuesday, Aug. 9, 1 p.m., at Lighthouse Christian Center, 304 Viewcrest Ave., Port Angeles. A potluck meal will follow at the Eagles lodge, 110 S. Penn St., Port Angeles.

Elizabeth Ann Phipps

Elizabeth Ann Phipps, 83, died in Crestwood Convalescent Center of age-related causes.
She was born in Topeka, Kan., to Francis and Sadie H. (Glarum) Mawhirter.
Before her retirement, she was a nurse's aide and caregiver in hospitals and private homes at Bremerton and Port Angeles,
She was a longtime member of Eastern Star and attended Joyce Bible Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Phipps.

Ian Clayton Rolley

Port Angeles resident Ian Clayton Rolley, 45, died of injuries received in a vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 east of Port Angeles.

Jeremy Clayton Rolley
Sept. 4, 1983 -- Aug. 3, 2005
Jeremy Clayton Rolley, 21, died of injuries received in a vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 east of Port Angeles.
He was born to Ian Clayton and Hannelore (Dodson) Rolley in Port Angeles.
Mr. Rolley won many state competitions in arm wrestling, and enjoyed mud bogging.
Survivors include parents Lori Rolley and stepfather Steve Fortman; brothers Matt Rolley, Chris Fortman, and Steve Fortman; and sisters Whitney Rolley and Mariah Fortman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ian Rolley, who died in the same collision, and a brother, Joshua Rolley.
Services: Visitation noon to 4 p.m. Monday at Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 W. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Memorial service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lighthouse Christian Center, 304 Viewcrest Ave., Port Angeles, with Pastor Eldon Officer officiating.
A reception potluck will precede the service at the Eagles Lodge Annex. There was cremation.
