ROBERT LEE `MOOSE' MORGAN
August 14, 1950-August 15, 2005
Forks resident Robert Lee ``Moose" Morgan, age 55, died on U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 220 by Lake Crescent. An autopsy is pending.
He was born in Raymond to Willard C. and Evelyn Mae (Welch) Morgan.
He married
Rosemary Cassell in Forks on August 30, 1969.
Mr. Morgan's employment included working in a Forks shake mill and driving log and dump trucks. He also worked for the state Department of Transportation.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Forks.
Survivors include his wife; son Michael Robert Morgan of Arlington; daughters Michelle Morgan of Port Angeles and Amy Morgan of Forks; his parents of Forks; brothers Steve Morgan of Yuma, Arizona, and Ron Morgan of Everett; sister Connie Birley of Forks; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today, August 21st, at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Mount Olympus Funeral Home, 481 Calawah Way, Forks.
The time and place of the memorial service will be announced later.
Memorials may be made to Forks Long Term Care, 530 Bogachiel Way, Forks, WA 98331, or charity of your choice. On behalf of Washington State Department of Transportation a Robert Morgan Memorial Fund has been set up at First Federal Savings & Loan, 227 E. Sixth St., Port Angeles, WA 98362.
RUBY JULIA TUCKER WRIGHT
Ruby Julia Tucker Wright, age 88, died August 13, 2005, at home with her family by her side after a long and courageous struggle with cancer.
She was born in Apalachicola, Florida, on December 6, 1916, to Ruth Holley Tucker and Thomas McBride Tucker. Ruby spent her childhood there.
She later moved to the South Florida area, where she was employed in the retail business.
In 1942, she met and married
Charles Jennings Wright. During the early years of their marriage, they resided near Charles' military assignments, including Portland, Oregon.
After World War II, they lived in Wheeling, West Virginia, and Miami, Florida. After raising their children in Miami, Ruby worked for nine years as a department supervisor for American Bankers Assurance Company.
Ruby and Charles Wright retired to the beautiful Sequim area in 1977. They enjoyed traveling around the Peninsula as well as British Columbia.
Her primary hobby was feeding the scores of birds, which came regularly to her backyard feeders. She also rescued pet birds who needed homes.
She was an accomplished and creative seamstress and pianist. She loved her family and enjoyed visits from friends and family.
She was a proud descendant of the Tucker, Holley, Yahn, Collinsworth and Hornsby families of Colonial Virginia and The Old South.
Ruby is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Pederson (husband Richard) of Poulsbo and Ruth Behnke (husband James) of Sequim.
In addition, there are five grandchildren, David Fricke and family of Bainbridge Island, Michael Fricke and family of Suquamish, Monica Buerger and family of Telluride, Colorado, Catherine Fricke and family of Suquamish, and Melanie Hannon and family of Miami, Florida.
Also, two stepgranddaughters, Jan Tronud and family of Skagaway, Alaska, and Jo Ann Pederson of Tempe, Arizona. There are five great-grandchildren, one of whom was born just days before Ruby's passing. In addition, there are three step-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jennings Wright, and sister, Louise Tucker Kooles.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of Clallam County, P.O. Box 2014, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
Drennan and Ford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
There will be a graveside service held on Sunday, August 21st at 3 p.m. at Dungeness cemetery off of Lotzgesell Road in Sequim. There will be a reception held at 4 p.m. at 233 N. Govan Ave., Sequim, WA 98382.
William E. Abney
Feb. 21, 1919 -- Aug. 9, 2005
William E. Abney, 86, of Port Townsend died following a long struggle with colon cancer.
He was born in Tyler, Texas, one of William and Laura Lizabeth (Thomas) Abney's seven children.
He married
Ivodel Verna Canton in Yuma, Ariz., on June 7, 1946.
Mr. Abney was a 20-year veteran of the Marine Corps who served in the Pacific and Korea before retiring as a master sergeant.
Following retirement, he worked in security for the San Diego naval base for 22 years.
Mr. Abney enjoyed music, especially big band and swing styles.
He is survived by his wife.
He was preceded in death by his siblings.
Services: None. Burial will be in El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of local arrangements.

Sharon D. Canfield
Aug. 26, 1936 -- Aug. 13, 2005
Port Townsend resident Sharon D. Canfield died of complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was 68.
Born in Merrill, Wis., to Keith Wood and Geneva Marie (Hinkley) Dobson, she attended Port Townsend schools through 10th grade, when she moved to Killeen, Texas, where she graduated.
She returned to Port Townsend, where she met Ralph W. Canfield, whom she married
on Jan. 9, 1955.
Mrs. Canfield was a double retiree, the first time from Safeway Stores Inc., and the second from the city of Port Townsend.
She had a passion for the island of Maui, where she and her husband made yearly trips. They also enjoyed visiting their summer cabin at Beckett Point.
Mrs. Canfield was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Russell W. and Sandra Canfield of Washougal; daughter Karen D. Cartmel of Port Townsend; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband died July 21, 2005; daughter Deborah Lee Canfield died March 11, 1977; and her brother Donnie Dobson died at age 16.
Services: Graveside service to be announced. The Canfields will be placed in Laurel Grove cemetery with their daughter, Debbie.

Thomas H. Gaston
May 11, 1924 -- Aug. 13, 2005
Port Hadlock resident Thomas H. ``Tommy" Gaston died in Kai Tai Care Center, Port Townsend, of complications from pneumonia and stroke.
He was born in Yakima to Denver Washington and Anne Lorena (John) Gaston.
As a young boy, he worked in the hop fields and apple orchards. Later, he worked in the family's logging business for many years.
The family moved to Cle Elum, then to Tacoma before settling in Jefferson County in 1942.
Mr. Gaston enjoyed festivals, including the county fair, as well as daily walks and spending time with family.
He is survived by brother Wayne of Port Hadlock and sisters Lorena Eldridge of Port Hadlock and Evelyn Leavitt of Port Townsend.
He was preceded in death by brothers Denver, Harold, Stanley and Raymond.
Services: Saturday, Aug. 27, 1 p.m., graveside committal service in Greenwood cemetery, Chimacum. Potluck will follow at the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Hall, 11323 Rhody Drive, Port Hadlock.

Richard L. Jevne
Oct. 18, 1938 -- Aug. 12, 2005
Port Townsend resident Richard L. ``Dick" Jevne died of heart failure in Jefferson Healthcare hospital at age 66.
He was born to Gunnar and Delight (Porter) Jevne in Austin.
A member of the Snohomish tribe, he grew up in the Pacific Northwest before graduating from high school in Lompoc, Calif., and studying in college for two years.
Mr. Jevne traveled extensively during 22 years with the Air Force.
He co-owned The Net Shed and Sea J's Cafe, both in Port Townsend.
In addition to enjoying bowling, he supported the Boy Scouts of America and Little League.
Mr. Jevne was previously married
to Kathleen Pogue and Barbara Baker, from whom he was divorced.
He married
Florence King on Nov. 26, 1981, in Port Townsend.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Derrick and Camron Jevne, both of Port Townsend; stepsons Ken Baker of Poulsbo and David Baker of Port Angeles; daughter Michele Keener of Lompoc, Calif.; stepdaughters Mary Has of Quilcene and Rhonda Has of Poulsbo; brother Virgil Porter of Port Townsend; sister Charlotte Johnson of Belfair; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Eric, stepson Mike Hos, daughter Sherise, brother Joe Porter and sister Christine Lewis.
Services: Saturday, Aug. 27, 2 p.m., memorial, followed by a reception, at the Chimacum Grange Hall, 9521 Rhody Drive. Jim Lyman will officiate.

Justin Andrew `Hoss' Nutt
May 24, 1983 -- Aug. 6, 2005
Port Hadlock resident Justin Andrew ``Hoss" Nutt died in Port Townsend at age 22. Cause of death was not disclosed.
He was born in Fort Knox, Ky., to Marion and Pamela Louise (Dodaro) Nutt III.
He grew up in Texas and California before moving to Port Hadlock two years ago.
Mr. Nutt enjoyed riding his 4-by-4 truck, camping, fishing and surfing.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather Mickey Griffin of Port Hadlock; brother James Nutt of Colorado; brother and sister-in-law Jason and Jenifur Nutt of Port Hadlock; sisters Andera Utterback and Kamela Griffin, both of Port Hadlock; and grandfather James R. Dodaro of Calimesa, Calif.;

Vera Mildred Heater
March 20, 1919 -- Aug. 7, 2005
Former Sequim resident Vera Mildred Heater, 86, died of natural causes at the home of her son at Eden, Utah.
She was born in Slope County, N.D., to Harry N. and Verda Glea (Lyst) Kent and married
Nelson J. Heater at age 16 -- on Aug. 7, 1935 -- in Moab, Utah.
The Heaters spent the first 15 years of their marriage in the Delta, Colo., area, which is where their first four children were born. Four more were born to them after they moved to the Yakima Valley in 1950.
Mrs. Heater enjoyed church, gardening, genealogy, sewing and ceramics. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include son R. Grant Heater of Portland, Ore.; sons and daughters-in-law Edwin and Jackie Heater of Eden, Utah, Larry and Connie Heater of Yakima and Donald and Suzette Heater of Herriman, Utah; daughter Alice Heater of Randalett, Utah; daughters and sons-in-law Elaine and Elwin Merritt of Brigham City, Utah, and Rebecca and Dana Rutz of Yakima; sisters Rosella Appleman of Canon City, Colo., and Dorothy Jordan of Oak Harbor; 32 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Her husband died Nov. 12, 1997. She was also preceded in death by oldest daughter Lois Pearl Wilson, brother Clinton Kent, grandson Lynn Merritt and grandaughters Jenny Heater and Tammy Wilson.
Services: Monday, Aug. 15, 10 a.m., memorial in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Englewood Chapel, Yakima; Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 11:30 a.m., graveside in Sequim View cemetery. Sequim Valley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
