Elaine J. Ellsworth
May 18, 1942 -- Dec. 22, 2005
Elaine J. Ellsworth died of natural causes in Port Angeles at age 63.
Mrs. Ellsworth was born to Elton A. and Evelyn H. (Truesdell) Warren in Cottonwood, Minn.
She married
Ronald Ellsworth on June 18, 1960, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Port Angeles.
Mrs. Ellsworth lived in Port Angeles for 60 years and worked at the Coast Guard Exchange and Clallam County Sheriff's Department as a records specialist.
She enjoyed arts and crafts.
She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband; sons Ron Ellsworth Jr., Andy Ellsworth, and Darin Ellsworth, all of Port Angeles; brothers Frank Warren, Gaylord Warren and Charles Warren, all of Port Angeles, and Paul Warren of Utah; sisters Cynthia Loftus of Florida and Linda Ueblacker of Tacoma; and four grandchildren.
Services: Visitation on Monday, Dec. 26, 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road.
Funeral Mass on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles, with Father Kurt Nagel presiding.
Burial will be at Mount Angeles Memorial Park.

Elaine G. Johnson
Aug. 8, 1907 -- Dec. 22, 2005
Elaine G. Johnson died of congestive heart failure at Olympic Care & Rehabilitation Center in Sequim. She was 98.
Mrs. Johnson was born to Amos Emerson and Gertrude (Schieffer) Hinkley in Park Rapids, Minn.
She married
Henry J. Johnson in Wadena, Minn., on Nov. 5, 1927. He died June 30, 1966.
Mrs. Johnson moved to Sebastopol, Calif., in 1945, and to Sequim in 1994. She was a homemaker, faithful church member, bookkeeper and knitting instructor.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sequim.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and Jim Henderson of Sequim, and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by brothers George and Ray Hinkley.
Services: Memorial service Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Hessel Church, 5060 Hessel Ave., Sebastopol, Calif. Burial will be in Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma, Calif.
Sequim Valley Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
Harry William Johnston
June 16, 1911 -- Dec. 22, 2005
Harry William Johnston died of age-related causes at Sherwood Assisted Living in Sequim at age 94.
Mr. Johnston was born to Frank Oren and Lena Bertha (Houk) Johnston in Clinton, Mo.
He married
Mildred Ruby Wild in Aberdeen on June 16, 1937.
Mr. Johnston, who moved to Washington from Missouri in 1936, worked in many occupations, including electrician for Weyerhaeuser, retiring after 35 years.
He lived in Raymond for 38 years and Sequim for 29 years. He was a 4-H leader for 12 years and spent many years as a Sunday school teacher.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and cutting wood.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Angeles.
Survivors include his wife of Sequim; sons John O. Johnston of Dayton and Larry D. Johnston of Raymond; daughter Maretta Kaye Nearing of Aberdeen; sisters Ethel Mae Petree and Margaret Hammond, both of Sedalia, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside service Thursday, Dec. 29, 11 a.m., at Sequim View cemetery. Burial will be in Sequim View cemetery.

Arthur F. Lang
June 15, 1932 -- Dec. 19, 2005
Sequim resident Arthur F. Lang died in Olympic Medical Center of heart failure at age 73.
He was born in Denver to Arthur Jesse and Mary (Stitts) Lang.
Mr. Lang served in the Army in 1950-54, including Korean War service.
He married
Betty L. Greenlee in Bremerton on July 13, 1974.
After working as a King County sheriff's deputy and for the Boeing Co. as a security officer, he became a security officer for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard while living in Suquamish.
He retired from a position in transportation and, later, retired for a second time as a security officer for Dungeness Meadows in Sequim in 2005.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of 31 years, Mr. Lang's survivors include daughter Gail Mallard of North Carolina; sisters Pat Levy of Georgia, Fern Lang of Oregon and Reah Stoltenburg of Bainbridge Island; and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Jack Lang and sister Audrey Stikes.
Services: Saturday, Jan. 7, 2 p.m., memorial in Grace Baptist Church, 4221 Mount Angeles Road, Port Angeles. The Rev. David Stevenson will officiate.
Burial of cremated remains will be in Port Townsend, next to those of his brother, Jack.
The Neptune Society, Lynnwood, is in charge.
Ellen Ranta
March 29, 1911 -- Dec. 21, 2005
Ellen Ranta died in her Port Angeles home of heart failure and dementia. She was 94.
She was born in Cloquet, Minn., to August and Ellen (Nieminen) Salonen.
She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1930 and married
Toivo ``Ted" Ranta in Olympia on Nov. 23, 1933.
The Rantas, who were original stockholders in Peninsula Plywood, moved from Aberdeen to Port Angeles in 1941.
Mrs. Ranta was active in Just-a-Mere Club, which was organized by the PenPly ladies and benefited Children's Hospital in Seattle.
She was also a 50-year member of Esther Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a past Mother Adviser of Port Angeles Rainbow Girls and awarded the Grand Cross of Color.
She belonged to Mount Pleasant Grange, Port Angeles Senior Center and, in Aberdeen, the Finnish Brotherhood, UFKB&S, Lodge No. 9.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Rick and Barbara Ranta of Seattle, daughter Linda Beasler of Port Angeles, three granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brother Oiva Salo and an infant granddaughter.
Services: Private inurnment will be in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, 45 Monroe Road, Port Angeles.

EVELYN V. SIMPSON
Evelyn passed away in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loved ones on December 19, 2005, at the age of 87.
Evelyn was born to Elmer and Marjorie (Trantum) Cormana in Harrington, Washington, on November 11, 1918. She was the oldest of four children -- Doris Cunningham (Albany, New York), Gordon Cormana (Kirkland, Washington), Joyce Campbell (West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania).
Evelyn spent half of her life in the Spokane area, where she met Alan R. (Dusty) Simpson. They were married
on February 14, 1947.
They moved to Clallam Bay in 1960. Evelyn worked as a cook in Clallam Bay for many years. She was famous for her homemade clam chowder.
She moved to Port Angeles after the death of her husband on November 29, 1974. She was the Activities Director at Crestwood nursing home until she retired in 1980.
Evelyn loved to raise a large garden and share it with family and friends. We were always the first ones on the block with garden-fresh tomatoes.
She also loved to quilt and made close to 200 handmade quilts.
Evelyn was an avid birdwatcher in her own back yard. Her hobby was to identify all the birds that came to feed on numerous feeders that she spent hours keeping filled for them.
She also enjoyed spending time at her son (Don) and daughter-in-law's (Dixie) cabin, located in Summit Valley, at least three times a year (turkey season, family reunion and deer season).
Evelyn was a huge Mariners fan and missed very few games on TV.
She moved to Yakima in 1996 where she resided with her son (Earl) and daughter-in-law (Lynn) until the time of her death.

Survivors include her daughter, Velma Holtzclaw (Kirby) of Allen, Texas; son Don Simpson (Dixie) of Clallam Bay, Washington; son Bob Simpson (Vangie) of Boulder City, Nevada; son Earl Simpson (Lynn) of Yakima, Wash.; and daughter Debbie Fore (Mike) of Richland, Texas.
Evelyn is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and ``adopted family" John and Ann Schneider.
Upon her request there will be no services. She will lay to rest in Port Angeles, Washington.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Keith & Keith Funeral Home, Yakima, Washington.
Margot Ide Andrews
May 4. 1930 -- Dec. 17, 2005
Margot Ide Andrews of Sequim died in Boston at age 75. Cause of death is pending.
She was born in Port Angeles to John McDonald and Margaret (Martin) Ide.
She received her bachelor's degree at Pomona College, Claremont, Calif., and studied at Claremont Graduate School.
She married
Christopher Andrews on June 18, 1951.
Mrs. Andrews was a teacher for 17 years in a Montessori school and at California elementary schools.
She was also technical director for the Whittier (Calif.) Recreation Department Children's Theater. She designed stage sets for more than 70 productions.
In Sequim, Mrs. Andrews, who was a lifelong artist especially fond of painting with oils, was a member of Sequim Arts and The Blue Whole Gallery.
In addition to her husband, survivors include son Scott Sturges Andrews of Los Altos, Calif.; daughter Monica Andrews Villegas of Pasadena, Calif.; sisters Katherine Ide Archer of Santa Fe, N.M., and Cynthia Rockwall of Rome, Italy; and five grandchildren.
Services: None. Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of cremation.
Richard Edward Reandeau
Sept. 12, 1926 -- Dec. 15, 2005
Longtime Clallam County resident Richard Edward Reandeau of Beaver died of complications from diabetes. He was 79.
He was born in Lead, S.D., to Thomas Lison and Mae Cecilia (Sell) Reandeau.
At age 16, he started working for the Milwaukee Railroad and continued through the 1940s except for service in the Army from Dec. 7, 1944, to Aug. 29, 1946.
He also did powder work for construction of Hurricane Ridge Road. He is mentioned in Keith Engelson's chapter, ``Road To Hurricane Ridge, " in Sturdy Folk by Mavis Amundson.
Mr. Reandeau was a member of Sequim post of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Sequim Prairie Grange. He followed the Bahai faith.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
His marriage to Shirley Cole in Port Angeles in 1954 ended in divorce in 1961.
He married
Gwen S. Rhodes in Sequim on Aug. 9, 1980; they divorced in 2001.
Mr. Reandeau's survivors include sons David Reandeau of Buffalo, N.Y., Jay Reandeau of Shelton and Jim Reandeau of Beaver; daughter Sheri Reandeau of Bellingham; brother Paul Reandeau and sister Dolorses Stewart, both of Port Angeles; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Ray Reandeau and sister Marie Gagnon.
Services: Jan. 7, 2006, at 2 p.m., memorial in the Recreation Center, 651 E. Division St., Forks. Burial will be in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles.
