Victor William Larson
Sept. 3, 1965 -- Feb. 23, 2006
Victor William Larson died in his Sequim home from small-cell cancer to the lungs. He was 40.
He was born in Port Angeles to Alfred and Darlene Marie (Travis) Larson.
In addition to completing the general education development, or GED, program for a high school diploma, he was a self-taught computer technician who operated Vic's PC Housecalls, cook for the Hi-Way 101 Diner, and kitchen manager for Riptide and Joshua's restaurants.
Mr. Larson enjoyed computer programs and software as well as strategic board games and reading.
He married
Carol Collins on June 16, 1988. They divorced; she died Oct. 5, 2004.
He married
Emily Wisiewski in Sequim on Aug. 28, 2004.
Survivors include his wife; sons Gary, Nathaniel, Timothy and Travis Larson; stepsons Dylan and Neil Haupt; brother Donald Larson; and sisters Sherold Reed and Angella Heilman, all of Sequim.
Also surviving is sister Deana Humleker of Port Angeles.
Services: Friday, March 3, 4 p.m., memorial in Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel, 108 W. Alder St., Sequim.
Dennis M. Shore
April 7, 1919 -- Feb. 19, 2006
Dennis M. Shore died in Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles, of age-related illness. He was 86.
He was born in Kent to Clyde E. and Harriett Denise (Fisher) Shore.
He married
Helen G. Anderson in Port Angeles on June 2, 1945.
Mr. Shore, who was employed as a longshoreman in the Port Angeles area, was a member of International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union, Eagles Lodge and Black Diamond Community Club.
He enjoyed walking the fields near his home.
Survivors include his wife of Port Angeles; daughter and son-in-law Constance L. and Gerald Lammers of Port Angeles; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son James Shore.
Services: At his request, the graveside service was private. Chaplain Dennis Niva officiated in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles.
Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, was in charge.
Elizabeth Jane Starkey
July 20, 1923 -- Feb. 21, 2006
Elizabeth Jane Starkey died of heart failure in Port Townsend at age 82.
She was born to Frank A. and Rose (Snead) Biggio in Steubenville, Ohio.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics from Ohio University.
She married
Robert Earl Starkey on June 27, 1946, in Greensboro, N.C. They moved to Rhein-Main Air Base in Germany, where Mr. Starkey participated in the Berlin airlift.
They lived in Vallejo, Calif., and Louisiana before moving to Washington in 1967 and Port Townsend in 1991.
She enjoyed tole painting, sewing and crafts.
Survivors include her husband of Port Townsend; son and daughter-in-law Robert Nils and Yvonne Starkey of Port Townsend; brothers and sisters-in-law Frank and Lucille Biggio of Steubenville, Ohio, and Tony and Mary Anna Biggio of Wooster, Ohio; and one grandchild.
Services: None. Kosec Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Eugene H. Voris
June 3, 1937 -- Feb. 16, 2006
Sequim resident Eugene H. Voris died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 68.
He was born in Aurora, Ill., to Wilbert H. and Lynda H. (Ford) Voris.
Mr. Voris, who lived in Los Angeles for 50 years before moving to the North Olympic Peninsula, was production manager and purchasing agent at recording and video companies.
He has struggled with several major illnesses for many years.
His marriage to Beatrice Marie Pacheco ended in divorce in the early 1960s.
He married
Martha L. ``Mardi" Graham in Las Vegas on March 2, 1963.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Edward A. Voris of California and Donald T. Voris of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter Kathryn Bradbury of Allen, Texas; brothers John Richard Voris of Warrington, Cheshire, England; sister Lynda Mary Zinn of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services: None. The Neptune Society of Lynnwood was in charge of cremation.

Charles Warren Wilson
Nov. 22, 1922 -- Feb. 21, 2006
Charles Warren ``Chuck" Wilson died at his Gardiner home of complications from cancer at age 83.
Mr. Wilson was born to Leonard Pete and Ethel (Couch) Wilson in Imnaha, Ore.
He married
Nell Kathryn Fritz on Nov. 16, 1946, at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Mr. Wilson served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 29 years, holding ranks from private first class to lieutenant colonel. He received many awards, including the Bronze Star with V device for valor during service in Vietnam.
Mr. Wilson was a prize-winning rodeo rider, Alaskan big game guide, hunter and fisherman.
He was a member of the Rhododendron Grange and the Retired Marine Corps Tankers Association.
Survivors include his wife of Gardiner; daughter and son-in-law Nancy L. and Sam Bugge of Port Angeles; daughters Gail Hutt of Port Angeles, Kathy Wilson of Port Orchard and Janice Wilson of Gardiner; sisters Violet Shirley and Kappy Brown, both of Oregon; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services: Monday, Feb. 27, 12:30 p.m., memorial at Gardiner Community Church with Pastor Greg Austin officiating.
Committal service with military honors at 1:30 p.m. at Gardiner cemetery.
A potluck will be held at the Gardiner Community Center following the graveside service.

Carl Mauritz `Maury' Lindvall
Aug. 1, 1919 -- Feb. 22, 2006
Port Ludlow resident Carl Mauritz ``Maury" Lindvall died in Harrison Medical Center, Bremerton, of respiratory failure. He was 86.
He was born in Boone County, Ill., to Carl Emil and Marie Christine (Jorgensen) Lindvall and grew up in Rockford, Ill.
During World War II, 1942-45, he served with the Navy air corps as a lieutenant.
He married
Marian Prudence Nelson on March 28, 1945.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., as well as two master's degrees and a doctorate from the University of Illinois, Champaign, Ill.
Dr. Lindvall, who wrote educational research textbooks, also taught in Stockland, Ill., and at the University of Pittsburgh School of Education, as well as being associate director of the Learning Research and Development Center, also in Pittsburgh.
After retirement in 1983, he moved to Port Ludlow.
Dr. Lindvall's pastimes included birding, gardening, painting and basketball.
He was secretary of the Jefferson County Food Bank board, member of Grace Lutheran Church in Port Townsend, as well as member of the American Educational Research Association, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Audubon Society, Habitat for Humanity, and the Port Townsend Marine Science Center.
Survivors include his wife; daughter and son-in-law Janice and Gale T. Miller of Denver; brother and sister-in-law John E. and Alice Lindvall of Mount Morris, Ill.; sister-in-law Phoebe Lindvall of Denver; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Robert Lindvall.
Services: Saturday, March 4, 11 a.m., memorial in Grace Lutheran Church, 1120 Walker St., Port Townsend. A light luncheon hosted by Grace Lutheran Women will follow. The Rev. Howard A. Fosser will officiate.

Arnold Joel Sather
Jan. 16, 1916 -- Feb. 23, 2006
Second-generation Port Townsend resident Arnold Joel Sather died of pneumonia at age 90.
The son of Floyd and Caroline Amelia (Molden) Sather was born in Port Townsend.
He graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1934, then worked for Glendale Dairy, which was owned and operated by his father.
As a corporal with the Army's 7th Infantry Division during World War II, he was a part of major landings on the islands of Attu, Leyte, Kwajalein and Okinawa in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Sather was awarded the Bronze Star for exemplary conduct in ground combat, and the Purple Heart for wounds received when he was blown from his Jeep.
After the war, he worked for Harper Oil Co. as a marketer, providing local tankwagon delivery service for 37 years before retiring in 1983.
Mr. Sather attended Grace Lutheran Church, where he participated in both its construction and maintenance.
He was also a volunteer fireman as well as a life member of the Port Townsend Elks Lodge, and treasurer during the founding years of Little League Football in Jefferson County.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retirement, he frequented area coffee shops to keep in touch with local news.
Mr. Sather married
Myrtle Mary Luck in 1946. She died in 1973.
Survivors include his wife, the former Rachel C. Chavez; sons and daughters-in-law Norman Floyd and Linda Sather of Tacoma, and David Arnold and Jeanie Sather and Arnold Joel ``Arne" and Michele Sather Jr., all of Port Townsend; sister Clarice Call of Tacoma; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Also surviving are stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law Ray and Nikki Merritt and Doug and Natasha Merritt, all of Sacramento, Calif., and Jim and Sally Merritt of Seattle; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law Ruby and Jerry Brazelton of Portland, Ore.; and stepdaughter Michelle Gravatt of Yakima.
Services: March 10, 1 p.m., funeral in Grace Lutheran Church, 1120 Walker St., Port Townsend; followed by graveside service in Laurel Grove cemetery; and a memorial reception at 3 p.m. in the Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St., Port Townsend. The Rev. Howard A. Fosser will officiate.

Gwenyth G. `Dolly' Sullivan
May 6, 1942 -- Feb. 25, 2006
Lower Elwha Klallam tribal elder Gwenyth G. ``Dolly" Sullivan died in Port Angeles at age 63.
Services: Thursday, March 2, 1 p.m., funeral in the Lower Elwha Tribal Center gymnasium, 2851 Lower Elwha Road, Port Angeles. Burial will follow at Place cemetery on Place Road, Port Angeles.
